I thought they'd decided to focus exclusively on sniper and anti-materiel rifles, but Truvelo is back on assault rifles. Check out their new AR15s. No official announcement re replacement of R series, but a few manufacturers putting their hands up. 1/2...
Kikuyu1, something to warm your heart: Lyttelton Engineering Works once modified the South African R1 for 7.62x39 and AK mags. Over there by Nemesis4you side, they have something similar, the Trichy (last pic).
"On 10 February 2022 a BK117 from C-Flight was conducting a Visrecce/Area Familiarisation sortie in the Cape Town area when a mayday call was heard from an aircraft in distress over the cape peninsula. The BK was in the area of Noord Hoek when the mayday call was heard over the radio and the only aircraft to respond.
The BK routed to the last known area that the aircraft indicated its intention to carry out an emergency landing, a road 6nm inland from Cape Point.
After approximately 10 minutes of seaching in the peninsula area, the a/c was spotted having veered left off a road.
During this time all relevant information was relayed via Ysterplaat ATC and 22 Sqn Ops Room on the situation currently unfolding.
The BK landed near the downed a/c to assist in any means necessary, manage the accident scene and coordinate relief efforts until relevant authorities arrived.
The occupants of the light aircraft was found to have light injuries and was in no immediate danger and in good spirits despite just being in an accident.
The BK withdrew after SAPS, Cape Medical Response, Metro S&R and Simonstown Fire and Rescue services arrived and the accident scene was handed over to them.
A big shout out to everyone who responded and assisted in a timeous and professional manner!!
Lastly, but not least…very well done to the PIC of the light aircraft that suffered an engine failure and managed to land the aircraft.
“ANY landing you can walk away from, is a good landing.”
We wish a speedy recovery to the pilot and his passenger and hope that there are many more flying hours ahead!
The First XV, the rest are reserves.
EDIT 1 with permission: On board the BK117 apart from the crew was the IO from Ysterplaat, a member of the SAPS and an aircrew member from 22 Sqn. Their expertise and professionalism contributed greatly to the assistance of the downed a/c. Thank you all."
Sizzorkay: People on this thread are funny, one will accuse me of dissing America, another will accuse me of worshipping them. Besides, what does America have to do with this? insecurity, funny how each time i talk on here, it's brought up. Nigerians do live here, and it's not a fvking big deal. Only a slowpoke would believe black magic made a vehicle have an accident.
Come now man, you've been here long enough to know the idiots with inferiority complexes aren't worth your time.
Raeblack: the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has deployed an aircraft at Mozambique’s . “The C-27 ZAF aircraft is scheduled to airlift over 50,000 kilogrammes of cargo for the South African Defence Force from Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria to Mozambique, among other SAMIM assigned tasks,
Not forgetting the Angolans who are doing the heavy lift duties. Here is an Angolan Air Force Il-76 landing at Waterkloof AFB yesterday, Thursday 11 Feb 22:
kikuyu1: I was halfway into posting when I realised he'd taken things the wrong way. I just said "eff it" and continued! Someone may just learn smth from that post
Hell, you even went on to say this:
Military exigency may demand the NA deploys a forward regimental base anywhere within the region I mentioned.
fachfouch: Tunisian army participation in WWII along side Nazi Germany
There was no Tunisian army during WW2, as Tunisia was a French protectorate. Ordinary Tunisians may have fought alongside the Nazis, but not as Tunisian army.
lebuhsi: All NAF airbases are paved, they might be shocked to know this.
Who would be shocked to know this? You do realise Stormtrooper completely misunderstood kikuyu1, right?
Here's what kikuyu1 said:
Hmmm...I've heard it said jet turbines don't handle unimproved airstrips well. Dust is sucked into the engine eroding the blades: given the nature of W Africa and the Sahel, both likely operational areas I'm curious to see if this is true.
More likely, "they" will be shocked the quote above has morphed into a riff about NAF airbases.
kikuyu1: Many people don't realise how important such missions are! How else would light inf and specops get real world trigger time? Why are forces from Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal participating in the Mali operation? Its the best way the only way to check out your equipment, weapons and tactics battlefield performance, what the US calls TTPs,Tactics,Techniques and Protocols. These same guys return to their units with invaluable real world experience. Fyi,Germany discovered their ishyt just doesn't work in 45 c+ desert environments of Mali.
BDF members who recently completed their deployment as part of SAMIM have undergone a reintegration process (also referred to as community reintegration).
This deliberate programme was facilitated by various professionals within the defence force and entailed among others, pyscho-social impact assessment, post deployment alcohol and substance abuse and zero tolerance of gender-based violence.
Rendering advice and support to these members will further extend to their respective duty stations.
