I finally got my electronic copy of my ECA from ICAS after almost 6 months. The report has been sent by courier to me.....Now i can make my application....So excited like i got my passsport pick up mail. Anyway, that the picture i see and i know it will come to pass very soon.

By the way, I am thinking of applying to Nova Scotia but the number they are looking for is quite low about 350 slots. what are my chances and what do i stand to lose if i also apply to another province along with Nova Scotia?

looking forward to frank advises.

Thanks guys.
wow, it took 6 months to get your ECA from ICAS? thats crazy...did anyone else have this kind of delay with ICAS? I am feeling discouraged now because I am thinking of using ICAS, the thought of waiting for 6 months jeez... just wishing I did not attend UNIPORT...

You can apply, as long as your work experience falls under one of the list of occupations they want people for. Meanwhile, it's not only Nova Scotia that is open, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan are also 'on board' wink
Thanks

it has been reduced to $50,000 the new CBN policy
It's 300 CAD max withdrawal a day which is pretty useless if you want to pay fees, , except you using POS.

Hi guys... Any ideas on this?.. I am rounding up a 1 year program by August 2015 and my study permit expires by December 2015, can I start my 2nd program by January instead of September(hoping to get 3 years work permit) .... I hope to apply for a study permit extension by September for a January start date(which takes about 2 months to process) .. Will there be an issue if I don't attend school from September to December ...? Technically I should have a holiday I guess .

Here's your link.. http://www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=3798&moncontrol=DisplayEqui&country=Nigeria#display

If you check the admissions page, it gives different countries minimum requirements, check what it says for Nigeria...... A friend of mine with an average of 66% just got admitted into M. Eng Chemical Engineering.

[quote author=Onyeoma3 post=33234236] I doubt the possibility of him getting admitted into M. Eng in Chemical engineering @uOttawa with that cgpa, it's quite low, not competitive enough per se ...[/quote

The requirement for Nigeria says 2nd class lower, don't see y he should not apply

Greetings, pls pardon me. Am new in this field so forgive me if I ask some questions already asked. I have tried going through the previous parts for the answers to my questions the information seem to much. I got a headache this past few days trying to source the previous chapters.

I graduated with a 3.2 gpa, got someone offering to sponsor my masters to go in Jan 2016. have checked on different schools, the requirement i see is 2nd class upper.

What is the option for a chemical engineering graduate with a 2.2 to run graduate studies?? (is there a program like post-graduate diploma that I can run that will qualify me to be admitted to pursue a masters degree)

Or are there schools with requirements of 2nd class lower?

Pls, I need your input. I might lose this offer from my sponsor if i fail to secure admission this winter

Thanks for your anticipated response
Your best bet is to apply for M. ENG and not MSc. Few schools accept Nigeria 2:2, check out University of Ottawa, you should be able to get admitted there.

... The falling price of Oil and Metal is killing most of these Provinces... 2015 economy will go down with all these...In turn ... companies will cut hiring and cut jobs as well...
Ok thanks but student jobs should not be so hard to get then, tuition over there is really cheap though considering going over there to take another 1 year program...

Sorry house, the mistake was from me, i didnt state it clearly.....i mean Visitors Visa or Tourist Visa..i had a 2years visa which just expired, i want to know how to renew it or if i have to apply for a new one, i also leant i will be given a 5years visa on my second application, is that true?
Never mind we all know what visa means smiley

Visa= study permit or work permit.
smiley... Let the poster state what he was referring to
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 9:51pm On Apr 22, 2015

This was the original post ^. So tell me where TRV was mentioned there
Visa = Temporary Resident Visa.. I believe if he was referring to study permit he would have said "study permit".... These 2 terms are reffered to differently to avoid mix up..
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 9:49pm On Apr 22, 2015

And you need to extend/renewing your study or work permit before it expires....contrary to your suggestion.
Yes study permit must be renewed before it expires I never said other wise though it can be restored if already expired but TRV does not need to be renewed before it expires, it is reapplied for when it is expired... TRV is the bone of contention here not the study permit.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 9:47pm On Apr 22, 2015

They are all saying different things. Your length of stay in Canada will be stated on your study/work permit stamped at POE and not TRV.

TRV allows you to get into Canada to be issued work or study visa.
The initial poster was asking about getting a new TRV and not a study permit, but you posted the link for a study permit which is very different from what the poster wanted that's why Akanni drew your attention to but u are refusing to see your mistake leading to the spamming of the thread.

Lol now we are on the same page... TRV= temporary resident visa, this is what we have all been telling you... That the stay depends on the study permit not the Temporary Resident Visa...

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 8:22pm On Apr 22, 2015
yregs:
Study permit is issued at the Point of Entry in Canada. When you get to Canada, you spend about 3hr to obtain a study permit. The TRV is only valid to enter Canada. I read about a guy who wasnt issued a study permit at the embassy due to oversight and ignorance, he couldnt proceed with school reg despite the fact that he had a valid Visa. He had to go back to the nearest Airport to meet with the Canada Border Immigration service to be issued a Study permit.

So for the person with an expired TRV, as far as ur Study permit is valid and u ve no plans of leaving Canada to return, u are a legal immigrant. You must apply for an extension of ur study permit if you intend to stay longer than the approved date. No story for dat one o.
Haha... Finally we are on the same page... Lol sorry I actually thought this was @justwise.

grin grin...please read up...check what comes under the term 'visa' here http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visa.aspx?menu_id=2&lang=eng

Study permit is a form of visa, work permit is another form of visa....there is no difference, they are classes of visas.
Well I didn't quite see your point there... However when someone is applying to study in Canada, we indirectly apply for a visa and a study permit but only the visa is issued in Nigeria while the study permit is issued in Canada .... So if u say it's the same thing it's fine by me... My point is that you are very legal in Canada with an expired visa and a valid study permit....
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 7:50pm On Apr 22, 2015
justwise:
So study permit and visa are two different things?
Yes they are, a study permit is issued at the point of entry in Canada, one can't study with just a student visa, if a study permit is not issued the student visa is useless.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 7:45pm On Apr 22, 2015

That is called living illegally.
Haha a visa gives you no status whatsoever in Canada it only allows you to enter Canada... When your study permit or work permit expires then you are illegal.. It is stated on the permit that you must leave Canada at the expiration of the study permit, when you do not leave then you are illegal... It has nothing to do with visa..
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by luvly3(f): 7:38pm On Apr 22, 2015

Really? So the moment you entered Canada you don't need to worry about visa extension when it expires?
Yup if you don't plan on leaving and re-entering..

What is not true about Canada?
Your comment I quoted.... You can be in Canada legitimately without a valid Visa... Visa is only needed to enter Canada
