Preview: West Bromwich Albion vs. Liverpool - prediction, team news, lineups By Christopher Dodd , Reporter Filed: Friday, April 20, 2018 at 21:00 UK Updated: Friday, April 20, 2018 at 21:17 UK West Bromwich Albion welcome the visit of Liverpool to The Hawthorns in the Premier League as caretaker coach Darren Moore aims to build from last weekend's standout win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool take on Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday and will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run heading into the crucial semi-final first leg at Anfield next week. West Bromwich Albion The Baggies lifted their relegation blues last weekend after producing a memorable 1-0 win against Manchester United, handing Pep Guardiola 's Manchester City the Premier League crown. Since the departure of Alan Pardew , caretaker boss Moore has overseen a much-needed lift in fortunes for the bottom-of-the-table outfit. Moore has overseen a 1-1 draw against Swansea City and the victory over Jose Mourinho 's charges to help club delay their relegation from the top flight. Such has been West Brom's plight this term, the four points that Moore has earned in two games is as many as the Baggies have been able to put together in their previous 10 games prior to those fixtures. Moore has already stated that he wants to be a part of the West Brom coaching team once a new manager is appointed, while the club have already started to make changes having sacked technical director Nick Hammond and brought in Guiliano Terraneo to help find a new manager. The Championship still appears as the obvious destination for the Baggies despite the shock win over United and most West Brom fans will already be preparing themselves for a 46-game league season next term. The Midlands club could be relegated this weekend should results go against them. The Baggies have won just twice at home all season and therein lies a major indicator of the club's problems this campaign. Added to that, West Brom have notched only 27 league goals, the joint-fewest alongside Huddersfield Town and Swansea. United looked like an insurmountable task for Moore and he will again be up against tough opponents when he welcomes a Liverpool side that West Brom have failed to beat in their last nine league meetings. Recent form: LLLLDW Liverpool Much of Liverpool's season is now dependent on how they progress in the Champions League, given that a top-four finish is all but sealed for Klopp's men. The Reds bounced back from a frustrating goalless draw in the Merseyside derby by claiming a resounding 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield last weekend, moving the club seven points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea. Mohamed Salah scored again in the win over Eddie Howe's charges and the Egyptian is now just another strike away from equalling Luis Suarez's Liverpool record of 31 goals in a Premier League campaign. Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo also hold the same record for other clubs. The 25-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down as he hopes to beat Harry Kane to the Golden Boot come the end of the season. Salah has scored in nine of his 11 league appearances since the start of the new year. Liverpool are welcoming Roma to Anfield on Tuesday evening in the Champions League semi-finals, potentially leaving Klopp with some key decisions to make with his starting XI early on Saturday afternoon. Will Klopp keep Salah fresh for Europe, or let him run riot again in the top flight as he searches for more records to break? Alongside Salah and Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino has been another standout performer in the Reds' dynamic front three. The Brazilian has now been directly involved in four goals in his last four games against the Baggies. Klopp will be wanting to keep things ticking over domestically despite European distractions as his side aim to further a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions that has also seen Liverpool bag five wins in the process. That run has arguably given the Reds some desirable momentum heading into a tricky two-legged tie with I Giallorossi and they will be aiming to keep up the winning feeling around the club ahead of the visit of Eusebio Di Francesco 's side. Recent form: WLWWDW Recent form (all competitions): WWDWWW Team News Moore could opt for the same side that beat United at Old Trafford, but the coach may be boosted by the return of Jonny Evans and forward Hal Robson-Kanu . Striker Daniel Sturridge is ineligible to play against his parent club. Gareth Barry and Nacer Chadli are doubtful, while James Morrison is ruled out through injury. Salah, Mane and Firmino are all crucial for Tuesday's Champions League tie and Klopp might just choose to rotate his strikers. The coach has Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings to pick from too. Klopp could recall Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren as they aim to make their respective returns from injury, although Adam Lallana , Emre Can, Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne are all set to miss out. West Bromwich Albion possible starting lineup: Foster; Nyom, Dawson, Hegazi, Gibbs; Phillips, Livermore, Brunt, McClean; Rodriguez, Rondon Liverpool possible starting lineup: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, van Dijk, Moreno; Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson; Solanke, Mane, Ings Head To Head The clubs met earlier in the league when they played out a goalless draw at Anfield as part of a nine-game run in the league that has seen the Reds undefeated against West Brom. Elsewhere, the Baggies did produce a shock this campaign when they knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup with a VAR-tainted 3-2 win at Anfield in January. West Brom last beat Liverpool at home in the league courtesy of a 3-0 victory in 2012. The Baggies have, however, been unable to score in seven of their 11 Premier League games against the Reds at the Hawthorns. We say: West Bromwich Albion 0-2 Liverpool Liverpool will be hoping to keep themselves in a winning habit ahead of a crucial Champions League game midweek. What better game to ask for when coming up against a side that has been unable to beat Liverpool in nine league meetings. West Brom will be buoyed by the result against United and the Baggies can also fall back on that 3-2 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup this term. That said, West Brom's lack of home wins and minimal goal return will place Moore's side at the mercy of Liverpool should they go behind in the game. https://amp.sportsmole.co.uk/football/liverpool/preview/preview-west-brom-vs-liverpool-prediction-team-news-lineups_324030.html mukina2 Dominique front page make una respect Liverpool fans here in Nigeria lala24 |

Roma may have produced a miracle of their own on Tuesday and it's now Sevilla's turn with the Andalusian club heading to Bavaria to face Bayern Munich, in the hope of qualifying for the semi-final. Bayern Munich were 2-1 winners in the first leg at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan yet Vincenzo Montella's charges could feel really quite hard done by. Profligacy in front of goal cost them, despite taking a one-goal lead they really should have added to their tally before Jesus Navas' own goal. The two away goals scored by Jupp Heynckes' charges make the second leg a daunting task for Sevilla, their immediate goal must be to record a 2-0 victory in order to ensure progression. Sevilla won't go out with a whimper though, Los Rojiblancos have fought so hard over the years to develop into a Champions League regular and, now they're in the quarter-final stage, surrender isn't an option. Not since their victory at Wembley Stadium in 2013 have Bayern Munich reached the Champions League final, the lack of success in the competition since then has left those in charge at the club disappointed to say the least. In Heynckes, they have a coach in place, at least temporarily, who knows how to negotiate the latter stages of the tournament; you don't get the sense complacency will be an issue. David Soria was hopeful that his team can produce at yet another elite European arena, it must be remembered that the club's 2-1 victory at Old Trafford was also an incredible shock, a repeat result on Wednesday would ensure extra time. "If we beat Manchester, then we can also win in Munich," he explained in his pre-match press conference. There is a certain spirit within the Sevilla squad that has survived a coaching change, their 3-3 draw against Liverpool despite being 3-0 down was a memorable moment and the team wants to go out fighting at the very least. Bayern may be weighed down by expectation, their experiences in the Champions League of late have been scarring, especially against Real Madrid last season, although for Sevilla to progress there may need to be a second miracle in the space of 24 hours. http://www.marca.com/en/football/spanish-football/2018/04/11/5acde8a7ca47419d078b4579.html |

The Egypt international looks set to be fit to feature at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday having recovered from a groin problem Liverpool have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of Tuesday's meeting with Manchester City after Mohamed Salah returned to training. The Egypt international limped out of the Reds' 3-0 win over City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Anfield with a groin injury picked up early in the second half. He then sat out Saturday's derby clash with Everton, increasing fears that the top scorer in the English game this season would miss the return fixture at the Etihad Stadium. Salah has scored 38 goals in 41 appearances since his arrival on Merseyside from Roma as well as laying on 13 assists. His latest strike opened the scoring against City, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane adding further efforts to put the five-time European champions in control. When asked on Monday whether the former Roma and Chelsea winger would be available for the clash at the Etihad Stadium, Klopp gave an optimistic response. "We're not sure 100 per cent, he was with the athletic coach [on Sunday]," Klopp told a media conference. "Rather yes than no, but we have to wait and see for the reaction." Andrew Robertson and Alberto Moreno, both of whom missed the 0-0 draw against Everton due to injuries, were also in training. Klopp was handed further good news on the injury front as defensive duo Andrew Robertson and Alberto Moreno joined Salah in training having missed the draw with Everton through injury. That leaves just Emre Can, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez as injury absentees for Liverpool, though Jordan Henderson will also miss the clash with City through suspension The Reds are looking to reach the semi-finals of Europe's premier club competition for the first time since 2008. |

The Egypt international has been in sensational form for the Reds, but was withdrawn seven minutes into the second half of Tuesday's 3-0 Champions League win against Manchester City with an injury. And it is touch and go whether he will be fit for the weekend's game at Goodison Park, with manager Jurgen Klopp saying: "I don't want to give anything away and I want to wait... You can imagine we have tried everything to make him available. [There are] still 24 hours to go pretty much, or 23 hours to go until we start. So let's see what happens." In this very special game we have to show up. You have to deliver. We know that." Everton manager Sam Allardyce believes it could be the perfect time to claim the Merseyside derby bragging rights with Liverpool in Champions League quarter-final second leg action on Tuesday. Salah is unlikely to be risked after sustaining a groin injury against City, while midfielders Emre Can (back), Adam Lallana (hamstring) and Ben Woodburn are all out. If Liverpool win, it will be the first time since 1989-90 the club have managed to win 10+ away games in consecutive top-flight seasons. Merson's prediction Paul Merson believes the Merseyside derby will be a fiery affair and thinks Jurgen Klopp has to make changes to protect players for the Champions League I just don't see it being an important game for Liverpool, I really don't. I just can't see them playing their full team. They're already in the Champions League next season in my opinion, they're 10 points clear of Chelsea going into the weekend. It's one of them where they've got an important game coming up. They worked hard the other day so if Jurgen Klopp goes and plays a full team I would be shocked. http://www.skysports.com/football/everton-vs-liverpool/373421 |

Manchester City v Liverpool preview: Jurgen Klopp warns Reds players against complacency Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his side against complacency as they look to protect a 3-0 first-leg lead in their Champions League quarter-final against Man City at the Etihad on Tuesday night. Liverpool scored three times in the first half at Anfield last Wednesday to put one foot in the last four of Europe's premier club competition. Klopp, though, insists the visitors are not the favourites to progress to the semi-finals. Champions League Tue 10, 19:45 Price Boost "I am not interested (in the favourites tag)," said the German. "We are only in the lead. It is better than I expected but you all know there is still a lot of work to do. "We are not thinking about who is favourite." Forward Mohamed Salah, who has scored 38 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this season, missed out due to a groin injury as the Reds shared a goalless draw at city rivals Everton on Saturday. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has described the mood in the squad as "special" ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg with Manchester City Of the Egyptian's chances of recovering in time to face City, Klopp said: "Not sure 100 per cent. We train at 5pm. It is rather yes than no, but we have to see. We will train and then make a decision." Meanwhile, City had hoped to head into the tie having secured the Premier League title with a derby victory over arch-rivals Manchester United on Saturday. However, they allowed a 2-0 lead to slip from their grasp as Jose Mourinho's team emerged with a memorable 3-2 win at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola discusses the balance of his side and potential psychological damage ahead of Manchester City's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool Just how much psychological damage that may have done remains to be seen, but the City coach admits he will learn much about his players from their reaction. Asked what effect the derby defeat might have, he replied: "I don't know, but if we are not able to cope with that psychologically, it will be a good lesson for the future. "It is a test. Football, like life, is a challenge. We have 90 minutes plus extra time and what we have shown this year - even in the last game - we can create a lot of chances in the last few minutes." Jurgen Klopp has refused to confirm whether Mohamed Salah will be fit for Liverpool's trip to Manchester City on Tuesday. Team news Sergio Aguero could make his first start for more than a month after returning to action following a knee injury as a late substitute against United on the weekend. There may still be a doubt over defender John Stones, who missed the derby with a muscle problem. City will be missing left-back Benjamin Mendy, with the France international having returned to training after a long-term knee problem, but still lacking match fitness. Liverpool are sweating on Mo Salah's fitness Liverpool are sweating on Mo Salah's fitness Liverpool hope Salah (groin), Andy Roberton (calf) and Alberto Moreno (thigh) will be fit to feature after they all missed Saturday's Merseyside derby with injury, but young forward Ben Woodburn has returned to training. However, the Reds will be without the likes of Joel Matip (thigh), Emre Can (back), Adam Lallana (hamstring) and Joe Gomez (ankle) for the trip to the Etihad, while skipper Jordan Henderson is also suspended. I don't think City will do it though because I see Liverpool scoring. You could see at the weekend again against United that City are defensively vulnerable when they have to take risks. This is all about Liverpool scoring one goal to turn City's need into score five and it will be a major boost if Mohamed Salah is fit. I could see City getting 2-0 up because they should have been out of sight by half-time against United, but as they get desperate I expect Liverpool's attacking pace on the counter to see them safe.
