Pep Guardiola will look to continue his 100% start to his time in charge of Manchester City when they take on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in Saturday's lunchtime Premier League kickoff.
The hosts opened their campaign with a draw against newly-promoted Middlesbrough, and will be hopeful of springing a surprise this weekend to claim their first win of the season.
Stoke
When the fixture lists were released, Stoke will have targeted their opening match of the campaign as a good chance to get some early points on the board.
content continues after the advert
It certainly looked like their best opportunity to do so in the first few weeks, with matches against the likes of Everton and Tottenham Hotspur following this weekend's clash with title favourites Man City.
As it was, though, the Potters were forced to
settle for a point against the newly-promoted Middlesbrough, with Xherdan Shaqiri's 67th-minute strike cancelling out Alvaro Negredo 's debut opener.
Three consecutive ninth-place finishes would suggest that Stoke will be able to hold their own in the trio of tricky fixtures coming up, but in a season that has seen so much movement in the transfer market - and consequent improvement of many of the teams around them in last season's table - Mark Hughes 's side have been worryingly quiet.
The arrival of Joe Allen for £13m from Liverpool has been their one major signing, with Ramadan Sobhi and Ryan Sweeney the only other two new faces to arrive at the Britannia Stadium so far.
Crucially, Hughes has avoided losing any key players - most notably Marko Arnautovic - but their window has not exactly scaled the heights of last season, when the likes of Shaqiri,
Giannelli Imbula and Joselu all arrived at the club.
Competition for a top-half finish is expected to be greater this year than ever before, so Stoke may need further reinforcements before the August 31 deadline if they are to keep up their impressive recent record in the top flight.
In Hughes, though, they have a manager who has so far delivered on his promise to evolve the team, and he will welcome one of his former clubs to the Britannia knowing that Guardiola has not come up against a similar test too often in his trophy-laden managerial career.

Upon his arrival in England, Guardiola declared that his motivation for leaving Bayern Munich was the desire to test himself in another league and against another style of football.

While Stoke are no longer quite the long-ball bruisers they once were, the fixture list has certainly given Guardiola what he wanted early on with opening matches against Sunderland and the Potters.
Things were not exactly straightforward in their curtain-raiser last weekend, despite Sergio Aguero giving them a lead from the penalty spot after just four minutes.
City utterly dominated possession throughout, as expected, but clear chances were few and far between and Sunderland looked as though they might nick a point when Jermain Defoe levelled things up, only for the hosts to be rescued by an own goal three minutes from time.
Victory at home to the Black Cats via a penalty and an own goal is not exactly the swashbuckling start to Guardiola's reign that many would have expected, but it is still early days in the Spaniard's revolution and the players are sure to improve as they increase their understanding of the manager's philosophy.
There were better signs in midweek as City all but secured their place in the Champions League group stages with a 5-0 away victory over Steaua Bucuresti - a match that saw Aguero miss two penalties in the opening 21 minutes but still go on to score a hat-trick.
The Argentine has now scored 10 goals in his last nine appearances for the club, while his penalty on the opening day took his Premier League tally for 2016 to a league-high 18 goals in just 19 outings.
Whether Aguero maintains his fitness throughout the season could well prove to be a deciding factor in the title race, and City have certainly splashed the cash to ensure that he is surrounded by quality too, spending almost £150m on eight players.
More could still arrive if recent reports are to be believed, with Joe Hart seemingly set to become the most high-profile of casualties from Guardiola's arrival. The England number one has been left out of the first two games of the season amid the club's reported interest in Barcelona's Claudio Bravo .
Yaya Toure is another who has so far not got a look-in under the new manager, but in these very early days the results have made it tough to argue with Guardiola's selection as he goes in search of a seventh league title from his eight years as a coach.

Team News
Hart's days at Manchester City appear to be numbered, and he is once again expected to miss out this weekend in favour of Wilfredo Caballero .
In front of him, the fit-again Nicolas Otamendi is expected to start alongside £47.5m summer arrival John Stones , who has so far made a solid start to his Manchester City career.
Vincent Kompany remains sidelined along with
Ilkay Gundogan , while there are lingering doubts over both the fitness and the futures of Toure and Samir Nasri.
Leroy Sane could potentially feature having missed the start of the season with a hamstring problem, but any game time is likely to come off the bench as Raheem Sterling and Nolito are expected to retain their places.
Aguero will lead the line as ever, and will be looking to add to his tally of six goals in six Premier League games against Stoke.
The Potters' main team news also surrounds the goalkeeping situation, with Hart's international understudy Jack Butland fighting to be fit in time for the weekend after an ankle injury kept him out of the season opener.
Arnautovic scored twice the last time Stoke hosted Man City and is expected to start alongside Bojan Krkic and Shaqiri again.
Glen Johnson remains out with a quadriceps injury, while Ibrahim Afellay and Stephen Ireland will not play again until next year.
Stoke possible starting lineup:
Butland; Bardsley, Shawcross, Wollscheid, Pieters; Imbula, Allen, Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic; Diouf
Man City possible starting lineup:
Caballero; Sagna, Stones, Otamendi, Clichy; Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, De Bruyne, Nolito; Aguero
Head To Head
Stoke have fared quite well against Man City in recent seasons, winning two of their last four meetings having only managed one win in the 14 clashes prior to that.
That includes the corresponding fixture last term as Arnautovic's brace gave Stoke a 2-0 win, although City gained revenge with a 4-0 drubbing at the Etihad in April.
City have only ever won once away to Stoke in the Premier League, though, drawing five times, losing twice and scoring just four goals in the process.
We say: Stoke 0-1 Man City
This will be an interesting test for Guardiola and City, and they will know that an improvement is needed from their opening-day win over Sunderland. Stoke will not make it easy for them, but we are backing City to scrape through once again and continue their perfect start to the season.

Liverpool will attempt to make it back-to-back Premier League wins at the start of the 2016-17 campaign when they travel to newly-promoted
Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds recorded an impressive 4-3 victory at Arsenal last weekend, but it was a disappointing start for Burnley as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on their return to the top flight.
Burnley
Burnley were, by some distance, the best team in the Championship last season, only losing five of their 46 matches to finish top of the division and earn the right to compete in the Premier League once again.
content continues after the advert
The Clarets have never managed to consolidate their position in England's top flight, however, and that will once again be the challenge for
Sean Dyche and his players this season. Their first Premier League campaign arrived in 2009, but they were relegated in 18th position and had to spend the next four seasons in the second tier.
They again rose to the Premier League in 2014, but once again finished 18th to drop into the Championship. They managed to secure an immediate return after winning the second tier last term, but it promises to be another difficult season for a club that have simply not been prepared to spend the money needed to consolidate in the top flight.
For Burnley, a summer spend of £10.9m is high, but it does not compare with the teams around them. They have also lost an experienced campaigner in the shape of Joey Barton and one look at their squad suggests that they will struggle to make a serious mark on the Premier League, despite the hopes and dreams of their passionate supporters.
The Clarets actually played pretty well against Swansea in their Premier League opener last weekend, but an 82nd-minute effort from Leroy Fer saw the Welsh outfit claim all the points at Turf Moor. It is still very early in the campaign, but Dyche will be wary of suffering back-to-back home defeats at this stage.
It is not as if it gets any easier for Burnley though as they face Chelsea and Leicester City in two of their three Premier League matches after hosting Liverpool. They will travel to Accrington Stanley in the League Cup on Wednesday, but it seems likely that Dyche will rotate his squad as he focuses on matters in England's top flight.
Recent form: L
Liverpool
With no European football this season and a squad that has been boosted in this summer's transfer window, there is a general feeling that
Jurgen Klopp could oversee a strong Premier League campaign for Liverpool.
The Reds might have reached the final of the League Cup and Europa League last season, but they finished eighth in the Premier League after losing 10 of their 38 matches and drawing 12 times in the process. The board will expect improvement this term and the Merseyside club made a strong start to the campaign last weekend.
content continues after the advert
It should have been more comfortable against Arsenal after racing into a 4-1 lead just past the hour at the Emirates, but the home side responded with goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers to set up a nervy final 15 minutes. In the end, Liverpool held on to win 4-3 and start their Premier League season with all three points.
Sadio Mane impressed on his debut as he struck a brilliant fourth in the 63rd minute, but it was Philippe Coutinho that stole the show with a brace to aid suggestions that he could enjoy a standout campaign this year. Just shy of £68m has been spent in this transfer market, with
Georginio Wijnaldum, Loris Karius , Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip also among those that have joined the Klopp revolution at Anfield.
In terms of what is ahead for Liverpool, they will travel to Burton Albion in the League Cup on Tuesday night, before making the trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next weekend. Their first competitive home game of the season is against champions Leicester City on September 10, before visiting Chelsea on September 16.
It is widely thought that Klopp still wants to add to his squad in the final weeks of the transfer window, but there does already seem to be a better balance at Anfield and some of the football that they played against Arsenal certainly suggested that it could be a more prosperous campaign for the former English champions.

New signing Steven Defour is set to make his Premier League debut for Burnley after joining from Anderlecht, and the Belgian international could take the place of David Jones in the middle of the park.
Fellow summer arrival Johann Berg Gudmundsson is also pushing for a spot in the starting XI, but it appears that the Iceland international will once again have to make an impact from the bench.
Elsewhere, Andre Gray impressed on his Premier League debut against Swansea and the striker will continue in the final third alongside
Sam Vokes , leaving Lukas Jutkiewicz as the forward option from the sidelines.
As for Liverpool, Klopp has played down suggestions that Mane has suffered a serious shoulder injury in training this week, but the former Southampton attacker is a doubt for the clash at Turf Moor.
James Milner and Daniel Sturridge have both returned to full training, however, and could come into the team, while Lucas Leiva and
Mamadou Sakho are both edging towards full fitness for the Merseyside outfit.
Burnley possible starting lineup:
Heaton; Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward; Arfield, Defour, Marney, Boyd; Gray, Vokes
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Mignolet; Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner; Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Firmino, Sturridge, Coutinho
Head To Head
Burnley have never scored a Premier League goal against Liverpool, losing all four of their previous encounters.
Indeed, of the Premier League clubs that Burnley have faced four times, Liverpool are the only side to defeat them on each occasion. The Reds are also just one of two Premier League clubs - the other being Swansea City - to have prevented the Clarets from scoring during their clashes in England's top flight.
Their last two Premier League meetings came during the 2014-15 campaign, with Liverpool winning 1-0 at Turf Moor in December 2014, before recording a 2-0 victory at Anfield three months later.
We say: Burnley 1-2 Liverpool
Burnley will have learned from some of their mistakes against Swansea last weekend, but it is difficult to back them upsetting a Liverpool team that will dominate most of the possession. We believe that Burnley have a goal in them, but expect Liverpool to make it two wins from two games at the start of the new campaign.

Manchester United vs. Southampton 2016: Prediction, Time, Team News, Preview For Premier League Match
BY JASON LE MIERE ON
08/17/16 AT 5:27 PM
Manchester United has already made a strong start to life under Jose Mourinho, claiming the Community Shield and a convincing win to start the Premier League season. And Old Trafford could be buzzing with extra excitement on Friday, with Paul Pogba in contention to make his first appearance since completing his return to Manchester United for a world record transfer fee.
Pogba was forced to sit on the sidelines for United's opening 3-1 win at Bournemouth due to a suspension picked up at the tail-end of last season when still at Juventus. Despite going all the way to the final of Euro 2016 and only completing his protracted transfer last week, he has declared himself ready and available for United's home bow this season against Southampton in the first match in the Premier League's new Friday night slot.
“You have to ask the manager but I feel very good and have been training for 10 days,” the 23-year-old said. “I am okay.
“I am quite used to this. I played the World Cup two years ago when at Juve and three years ago I was at the Under-20 World Cup as well. So I am okay. It is about your body and I have been training on my holidays.”
If Pogba does take the field, it will represent his eighth appearance for Manchester United, a full four-and-a-half years since he made his last outing. In that time he has gone away and become one of the world's best midfielders and one who has the potential to become a true great.
There is plenty of debate about the reasons for Pogba's departure from Old Trafford, but it seems clear that then manager Sir Alex Ferguson failed to do enough to persuade him to stay. And United has paid the consequences for that, with the center of its midfield a glaring weakness for far too long.
Much of the fault for that falls at the club's failure to punch its weight as one of the richest clubs in the world in Ferguson's latter years and the hapless transfer market bungling under executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and managers David Moyes and Louis van Gaal. In contrast, Jose Mourinho instantly signaled that he would be far more decisive in getting the squad he believes can make the club champions once again.
And that is already paying dividends. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has provided a presence and goal-scoring threat leading the line that United simply didn't have last season. He may be 34 years old, but with a winning goal in the Community Shield and an emphatic strike against Bournemouth he has suggested he can still more than cut it in the Premier League. At the other end of the pitch, Eric Bailly has thus far slotted in seamlessly, displaying raw athletic skills as well as impressive composure for a player of limited top-level experience.
And there could yet be more to come. As well as Pogba's insertion into the lineup, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was limited to just a substitute appearance at Bournemouth and could make his full debut on Friday. Meanwhile, reports persist that Mourinho is targeting another central defender, with a man United will come up against on Friday believed to be his top choice.
Were United to land Portuguese Euro 2016 winner Jose Fonte it would only further demonstrate the gulf between the two clubs in the transfer market. While Manchester United under Mourinho has gone out and cherry picked the pieces to make the squad stronger, Southampton has for the past several summers had to react to the loss of key players and immediately build again.
It is a testament to the infrastructure and personnel at St. Mary's that Southampton has continued to thrive in that time. Indeed, last season it finished only three points and a single place behind Manchester United in the table.
Again it is looking to counter the doubters after a summer in which it lost manager Ronald Koeman and key players Sadio Mane, Graziano Pelle and Victor Wanyama. It is now the job of French coach Claude Puel, who led Nice to an impressive fourth place finish in Ligue Un last season, to quickly integrate himself and the new signings into the club.
Related Stories
One of those summer arrivals made an impressive first outing on Saturday, with Nathan Redmond scoring to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Watford. Fonte was an unused substitute in that match as he gets back up to speed following his exertions at Euro 2016. Whether he will feature at Old Trafford, in what could well be a uneasy situation for all involved, remains to be seen.
Prediction: Manchester United haven't looked exactly free-flowing yet under Mourinho, and, while the Portuguese is not known for producing the most attractive teams, it is clear his new side remains a work in progress. Pogba will certainly help that process along, but it is perhaps unlikely that he will be thrown straight into the starting lineup. Yet with the greater cutting edge in the team, aided in no small part by Ibrahimovic, United should get a win over a Southampton team that still needs work after its summer departure

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Manchester City Vs Sunderland (2 - 1) ON 13th August 2016 by luvola(op): 8:32am On Aug 13, 2016
Pep Guardiola will take charge of his first competitive game as Manchester City manager when his side host Sunderland in their Premier League opener.
The Black Cats have also appointed a new figurehead in David Moyes, after Sam Allardyce left the post to take charge of the England national team. The former Manchester United manager will be keen to put his disastrous spell at Old Trafford behind him as he begins a new chapter in the Premier League.
Both teams have completed majority of their transfer business, with a few more names expected to be added before the window closes.
Key Battle –Sergio Aguero vs Lamine Kone
Sergio Aguero has failed to disappoint yet during his time in Sky Blue. The Argentine has regularly knocked in the goals, becoming one of the most consistent strikers in the Premier League over the last five seasons. The 28-year-old has rarely required time to settle and is usually off the mark within the opening weeks. A more attacking style of play under Guardiola can see the former Atletico hitman flourish, with another 20-goal season expected.
Lamine Kone only arrived at Sunderland at the start of the year but has quickly cemented his place in the starting XI, while also becoming a fan favourite at the Stadium of light. In the 15 league games that he appeared in last season, the 27-year-old was involved in three goals and also assured up a leaky Black Cats defence. Despite being heavily linked with a move away, Moyes will be eager to keep hold of Kone, who is arguably the best defender he has at his disposal.
It will be an enticing contest between striker and defender, as both teams aim to begin the 2016-17 campaign on a high note.
Team News
Pep Guardiola has a near complete squad to choose from, barring Vincent Kompany and new signing Ilkay Gundogan who are sidelined with injury. Kevin De Bruyne is also expected to sit out due to a lack of match fitness.
David Moyes is likely to travel to Manchester without Jermaine Defoe after he sustained a preseason injury, while Jan Kirchhoff, Billy Jones and Sebastian Larsson also remain in doubt.
Head-to-head
Of the 143 games played between the two sides in all competitions, Manchester City have won 68 of them and the Black Cats have succeeded on 50 occasions, while the remaining 25 games have ended in draws. The last five meetings have seen City claim victory, with Sunderland last claiming the rewards in November 2013
Previous Meeting
The sides last met in the league at the start of this year, where Aguero scored the game’s only goal to give City the three points at the Stadium of Light.
Prediction
There is little doubting the fact that City will run out comfortable victors in this opening fixture. Although both teams have new managers in place, one can count on the experience and ability of Guardiola to guide his team to three points.
Manchester City 3 Sunderland 0

Just 89 days after last playing each other in a rearranged final-day fixture, Bournemouth and
Manchester United face off once again to kick off their 2016-17 campaigns.
The Red Devils came out on top in that match, staged after a bomb scare in the original match two days beforehand, but that proved to be the final league outing for doomed boss Louis van Gaal .
Bournemouth
Bournemouth supporters have known for a long time that they have a real gem in manager Eddie Howe , but it arguably was not until last season that the rest of the footballing world sat up and took notice.
content continues after the advert
If further proof was needed of that, reports suggested earlier this summer that Howe - a part of the Cherries' playing and coaching set-up for the best part of two decades now - was a strong contender to replace Roy Hodgson as England boss.
That job would eventually go to Sam Allardyce, a manager at the opposite end of the spectrum to Howe in terms of top-level experience, although another solid campaign for the Cherries and some of the division's big-name sides may well come calling.
Right now the 38-year-old will merely be focused on avoiding that dreaded second-season syndrome that can so often plague clubs, with the South-Coast outfit never truly in danger of facing the drop in the latter stages of the last campaign.
Complacency surely will not be an issue, though, as Bournemouth did only finish seven points above the drop and know full well that even the slightest fall in performance levels, in what will surely be a more competitive bottom half this time around, could well prove costly.
Howe has moved to bring in Jordon Ibe and
Brad Smith during the off-season, both men joining from Liverpool on permanent deals - and the former setting the Cherries back a club-record fee of £15m - while Nathan Ake will provide competition for a full-back spot on loan from Chelsea.
Many questioned Howe's reluctance to change things around at times last season, particularly heading into December after just two wins from 14 games left Bournemouth staring an immediate return to the second tier, but stick with it the young boss did and results soon improved drastically.
The highlight arguably came around the festive period when recording a famous double over Man United and Chelsea in the space of a week, as Bournemouth proved that they full deserved their place in the division despite the perception of them being lower-league minnows.
Now comes an even tougher test, with Howe needing to steer his side to a repeat performance of last season, although shoring up at the back will be vital after conceding 67 goals last time out - a tally only relegated Aston Villa could 'better'.

Manchester United
While many felt it was the perfect match in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, supporters have been made to wait for the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Successive disappointing campaigns under
David Moyes and Van Gaal, albeit one that ended on a high for the Dutchman with success in the FA Cup, meant that United chiefs were finally forced to turn to one man that is known for his success.
Mourinho has won trophies wherever he has been, from Porto through to his second stint at Chelsea, although the way he departed Stamford Bridge last season, not to mention a frosty relationship with club ambassador Sir
Bobby Charlton , ensures that this is a tenure that really could go either way.
The Portuguese has certainly not wasted time in making this squad his own, bringing in four star players - the latest in Paul Pogba being the best of the lot - as he aims to stop the rot at the Theatre of Dreams and finally bring back silverware on a consistent basis.
Supporters may have increased their expectation levels a notch or two following the
record-breaking deal to sign Pogba from Juventus which, depending on which reports you believe, will set the club back somewhere between £89m to £120m in total.
There is no denying that Mourinho needs to push on and win at least one trophy in his maiden campaign at United, particularly for a manager that is now famous for his three-year cycles at clubs before completely imploding.
Mourinho also arrives at Old Trafford with a reputation as a manager who overlooks younger players, something which he looked to disprove when pointing out the chances given to the likes of Raphael Varane, Arjen Robben and "47 others" throughout his career to date.
Either way, it promises to be an eventful campaign at United this season, with the tried-and-trusted 4-2-3-1 formation sure to make a return - a set-up that will bring the best out of the likes of Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the impressive Anthony Martial, who bagged 11 goals in his maiden campaign to keep the doubters quiet.
Then there is the small matter of Zlatan Ibrahimovic , the scorer of 38 goals in 31 Ligue 1 games last term - bettered only by Luis Suarez across Europe's top leagues - and the emerging talent that is Marcus Rashford, both of whom could well prove to be the driving force behind the Red Devils' return to greatness.

Both are likely to be given the nod once more this weekend by the seaside, while Mkhitaryan - a late replacement in controversial circumstances , as he came on for Juan Mata - is also in line to start in the three-man attacking midfield.
The big question mark regards Pogba, who has not featured throughout a disrupted and shortened pre-season following his exploits at Euro 2016 with beaten finalists France, but he is expected to at least be named in the travelling party.
As for Howe's home side, they will have Joshua King in their starting lineup fresh from signing a new long-term deal - a player that will no doubt be aiming to impress against his former team.
Injuries proved a big problem for Bournemouth last season, with Tyrone Mings featuring just once in the top flight before being ruled out and
Callum Wilson also missing a large chunk of the campaign after bagging five goals in seven outings beforehand.
Wilson is now fit and raring to go, however, with attacking support being provided by King, summer signing Ibe and another injury victim of last season in Max Gradel .
Bournemouth possible starting lineup:
Boruc; Daniels, Cook, Francis, Smith; Surman, Arter; Gradel, King, Ibe; Wilson
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Fellaini; Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Martial, Ibrahimovic
Head To Head
Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last four home meetings with United in all competitions, winning two and drawing two of those games.
The Red Devils may have won the last encounter a little over three months ago, but they were dealt a real blow in their top-four challenge in December's defeat at Dean Court - a major scalp for the Cherries and one of just five home wins all term.
Four of United's five opening-day defeats have come on their travels, meanwhile, but Mourinho appears to have the magic touch having never lost on the opening day of a Premier League campaign.
We say: Bournemouth 1-3 Manchester United
A new season brings with it new hope for both of these sides, particularly United supporters who will be hoping to mount a title challenge this season following three years of underwhelming finishes. The top flight may boast some high-profile names this term but none are more experienced in this division than Mourinho, and he will begin his tenure as Red Devils boss with a straightforward victory by the seaside this weekend.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Vs Westham - 2 - 1 On 15th August 2016 by luvola(op): 12:15am On Aug 12, 2016
The first Monday Night Football of the season will see a London derby as West Ham travel to the other side of the capital to take on Antonio Conte’s Chelsea in his first competitive match as Blues’ boss. Last season Slaven Bilic ensured that the Hammers avoided defeat to Chelsea for a whole season for the first time since 2002/03 and he will be desperate to keep that record going as the Irons integrate some new signings into their side as they look to make their first season at the Olympic Stadium one to remember.
Recent form
Chelsea have enjoyed a mixed pre-season, with a shock defeat to Rapid Vienna accompanied by a tight game against Real Madrid and victories over RZ Pellets,
Liverpool, AC Milan and Werder Bremen. As pre-season has gone on the Blues have improved with every game, and Antonio Conte will be hoping that this theme continues as his new side adapt to his system and tactics, alternating between a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-3 set up.

Meanwhile, the Hammers’ season kicked off over a fortnight ago with Europa League action after a stuttered start. With the distractions of moving into a new stadium, the Irons suffered two unexpected defeats and two disappointing draws with one victory before losing to NK Domzale in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier. Fortunately, they convincingly overcame the Slovenian outfit in the first game at the Olympic Stadium in their best performance to date, and were then narrowly beaten 3-2 by a strong Juventus side.
Predicted line-ups
Antonio Conte is expected to start with his marquee signing, N’Golo Kante, in midfield as the Blues field a similar looking line up to much of what they played last season. Diego Costa is expected to start, but with his future still unclear that could change before Monday night with Michy Bitshuayi ready to step in. Oscar’s prolific pre-season form also looks set to earn him a start, though Pedro and Juan Cuadrado are also fighting for his shirt.
There are five potential debuts for the Hammers, with Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordtveit expected to start. Arthur Masuaku will step in to fill Aaron Cresswell’s shoes soon, although he is unlikely to start just one week after joining the club with Bilic preferring the tested method of Sam Byram at left back. Andre Ayew is also unlikely to start after Andy Carroll’s impressive form in pre-season and Gokhan Tore will be left out unless Dimitri Payet struggles to gain fitness having only re-joined training this week after a long post Euros break.

West Ham predicted starting XI
Suspensions/Injuries
Antonio Conte has been lucky enough to avoid any major injuries for his side in his first pre-season at Stamford Bridge, with Kurt Zouma’s long term knee injury picked up last season the only notable absence and the Frenchman increasingly nearing a return to fitness which could see him available for selection sooner rather than later.

Slaven Bilic has not been so lucky, with Aaron Cresswell’s knee ligament damage picked up in a pre-season friendly a major blow to the Hammers. The other absence is Manuel Lanzini, with the Argentinean left winger having picked up an injury whilst on international duty which will keep him out for at least a month.
Our prediction
West Ham will be strong competition for any side pushing for Europe this year, as they were last year, but with Andre Ayew yet to fully integrate and no other forward arrivals, the Hammers have a rather blunt attack. Whilst Andy Carroll has been in form, John Terry and Gary Cahill will be two of the best equipped defenders in the league to deal with his threat. Antonio Conte will be keen to ensure that his defence remains tight, so we aren’t expecting goals, but with Eden Hazard and Oscar in great form in pre-season, we can’t look beyond a home win for Chelsea to kick off their season.

Arsenal vs Liverpool:
English Premier League 2016/17,
Date: Sunday, 14 August, 2016
Kick-off: 16:00 UK.

Arsenal are opening up their 2016/17 Premier League campaign against Liverpool at home in a game that is hit massively by injuries to both sides.
The Gunners continue to search for a Premier League title following a drought for decade, Arsenal were runners-up last season after missing out another title by finishing second on table with 71 points, 10 behind winners Leicester City (81).
While Jurgen Klopp is set to begin a full season at Liverpool after taking over from Brendan Rodgers last season. He helped the Reds to finish eight in the league standings in an otherwise disastrous season.
Arsenal: Team news
Arsene Wenger begins the 2016/17 league campaign with a series of injuries to many key players, which could force him to field weaker side for the clash.
Mesut Ozil is still not back from holiday, while Laurent Koscienly, Per Mertasacker, Gabriel Paulister and Danny Welbeck are still in the treatment room.
Arsenal: Predicted Line-up (4-2-3-1)

Arsenal vs Liverpool: Head-to-Head
This is the 220th meetings between Arsenal and Liverpool in all competitions.
Arsenal win 72, Liverpool 76 and 53 matches end in draws.
551 goals have been involved, 266 for Arsenal and Liverpool bagged 285.
98 games played at Arsenal’s backyard, with the Gunners winning 44 against Liverpool’s 21, while the rest 33 ended in draws.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have netted 313 at the former home grounds, 195 goals for Arsenal and 118 goes to Liverpool.
Arsenal heaviest home win against Liverpool came by an 8-1 score-line during the 1934/35 season.
Liverpool biggest away win over Arsenal is by a 5-0 margin 1893/94 League season.
Arsenal vs Liverpool: Prediction
The clash between Arsenal and Liverpool are often a cagey affair. We have seen a thrilling 3-3 draw when they met at Anfield last season. With both teams on serious injury crisis the managers could adopt a more cautious approach.
At the same time, Liverpool’s inconsistency was highlighted in two matches during the pre-season. They had a moment of brilliance when they surprised many by thrashing Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley and were brought to ground by after losing by the same score line to the Bundesliga outfit Mainz.
The Gunners are on a five match unbeaten run against Liverpool at the Emirates stadium, with 4 wins and a draw. Moreover they look like a settled side during the pre-season friendlies. If that form is not deceptive, the Gunners must edge this.
