The 4 key things that impacted Buhari's govt was low oil price for much of his time, lack of support of the Saraki-led Senate in his first term, insecurity and covid19. Furthermore the Buhari govt was too lazy to apply reforms to boost the economy. It resorted to borrowing and money printing as the way out.

That said, Tinubu and Co had to support Buhari because doing so was his only path to the Presidency.
