That's not what we are saying!! What we are saying is that Tactical vest and Plate carriers should be separate, thus providing more versatility, if anything the old SADF proved that manoeuvrability and carrying more equipment out weighs the need for added protection in the African bush.

Also its not like the SANDF don't wear Plate Carriers, it all depends on the situation.

Standard tacticool vest with plate carrier have molles for attaching shitloads of whatever you need. If it ain't enough get a sturdy backpack.
Train in armor so you can fight in armor, then again. This is just my opinion.

Simple,

Say you are light/moto infantry

Say you are about to go on patrol for 5-6 days (up to 15)

If you drop the plate-carrier you save up to 8 kg's of weight

So, if all 12 guys in your section drop them as well that means you can all carry an extra 96kg of ammo/food/radio batteries etc

It also means you can cover more ground and dont get as hot, so you dont need to drink as much water.

Having someone get shot in a contact is bad, but having your whole section run out of ammo is worse

Like I said, RSA developed our current tactical vest and BPV at the same time. There is a reason that they designed them to be seperated, and that reason lies in experience in the bush wars.

NATO troops operate along a different doctrine and in circumstances that are completely different to what you would see in Africa. Trying to copy them will lead to failure.

BPV's are only essential for mech-inf or units that know they will be fighting in built up areas.

What concerns me is the current state Ukraine finds themselves in at the moment especially economically.

I would love it if SAAF could acquire the AN-70 as I feel it does everything the A400m does at a fraction of the cost.... But with all the shiit going on in Ukraine, there is so much doubt that they could even deliver such an order let alone provide decent after service. It's thus for this reason I sceptical!

Get admitted at NCATZ first, then write a letter to your state govt requesting for sponsorship, ncatz can help with that. Depending on how well meaning your state govt is, you might get a positive response.

As for the military go through NDA.

NB: Don't let anybody tell you its not possible.

There is a shocking video of our military on facebook, it is now on beegeagles blog. The video lays bare all that is inefficient with Nigeria.

Some deluded Nigerians like Igbi, were claiming there was nothing wrong in the video. Nigerian troops without proper armour, ammo, webbing and mismatched uniform been transported in lorries used in transporting cows.

I mean that is not acceptable. It just seems as though there is a much much larger disconnect between our troops on the ground and the political and military top brass.

At a point I started feeling soilders were wearing the uniforms based on their mood.

When the Local defence industry produces bags and sandals for soilders, Clone AKs(in the 21st century), braid hairs and prides itself with it, and the top military brass applauds them then you know redundancy has set in.

Check the inventory everything we have from top to bottom save for few are obsolete piece of metals, Do upgrades on them in-house(NO WAY) then discard or retire them(NO DAMN WAY), rather we keep heaping and piling outdated junks, why do we have T-55s in service in 2014??
