Me I don't dream of working for any of the FAANGS, I just don't like doing something or going for something that majority goes for.

I have multiple companies I dream of working for, not all are tech companies though.

1* MICROSOFT ( this is my dreamest of dreams LOL )

2* Hewlett-Packard (HP)

3* Maersk ( shipping company )

As a designer I'd choose meta cause they have diverse world class products (Fb, WhatsApp, Instagram etc.).
On a second note I believe there are other companies besides FAANG one could still enjoy working with.
It is really tough getting into FAANG compaines

My passion has always been designing. Grateful to God I'm now doing it professionally.

The panic is real.

Most times it's borne from the fact that one has achieved very little and it feels like time is moving so fast. I believe God is always on time.

I am not new to Nairaland, I have to come to you all with this account.
I got a free enrollment to do a software engineering course and I have been doing wonderfully well. For the past one month I've been using my phone to code and do my tasks. Yesterday I got an email that I made it to the next level.

Now here are the problems, the course is advancing and I sincerely need a laptop. Someone has offered me his pc but I didn't accept it because I am aware he got it through internet fraud. I have preached against it and will continue to prove to him that hard-work pays, if I should accept this pc then I have defeated that purpose.

Sir/ma, if you have a spare laptop (even if it is spoilt) please I need it to advance in my course. I don't want money because I might use it to solve another problem please.

So, I got an interview invite through my email from a fintech company in Nigeria, for the role of a senior frontend developer. I can’t even remember when nor how I applied for the job, seriously. But the issue is that, I don’t think I’m up to a senior ooh, mid at most. And the company is quite far from my place, tfare might cost me 6k. Should I try my luck or just focus on my present job? but i'm working my ass off learning software development, this is not a documentation post.

I'm a Product designer and I know for sure a designers Job is really tough yet we are hardly recognized. If somebody brings a topic about tech, the first thing on their mind is dev not even design.

Are there designers on Nairaland at all or is it only about Programming?

I'd advise you budget nothing less than 2m.
To design and develop an e commerce platform is quite expensive, however I'm a UI/UX designer incase you wish to set up a team.

Both are very nice.
Ask yourself which one would you be consistent in doing for a long period of time? Only you knows this answer.

But you need to get your first job(either through Direct Contract or Accepted Proposal - Hire) before verification.


You just need a good Profile(General or Specialised) and proposals to get jobs on Upwork. Upwork algorithm dey always Bleep up sha, e fit filter your proposal from top five.
Just make sure you apply for jobs that have less than 5 to 10 proposals, jobs that no one has been interviewed yet , and one with a client that has high higher rate. Make una no waste your Connects oooo

Tech is not easy oh. Let nobody tell you otherwise that's why most people that rush into it ends up losing interest.
