Thrillers don't get any slicker. Good misdirection. I saw it because no one can say No to all those stars, I missed Lucy Liu and, um, er, Hartnett is hot. This isn't among Freeman's best work, though it's much preferable to his role in Wanted. I don't care. I'd watch him stare at a wall for three hours. Willis is a star, and such is my love for this guy from his days in Moonlighting as David Addison to his breathtaking movie career, that I'm incapable of seeing a flaw in anything he does. Two thousand guys audition for a role and he gets it and hasn't looked back. Wonder what would have happened if Moonlighting's producers had rejected him. Oh yeah LNS. It's not bad. I give it 65% |
In what universe does District 9 not win one single award? S-s-s-shame. Happy for Jeff Bridges. Been a long time coming. |
@post Aren't you supposed to weight the extant evidence, and arrive at your own conclusions? If the evidence suggests to you there's no God, like Carl Sagan said, It's all right, really, to wait till the evidence comes in. There's nothing wrong with being an atheist if you don't have any reasons for believing, and only very silly people would denigrate you because of that. This Prove God/ Don't prove God thing gets a little tiresome, esp since most religions as they stand have little to recommend them. What you believe or don't believe is deeply personal. You've no right to impose them on others, or invite others to share theirs merely so you may ridicule it. If you want to know whether God exists( and you didn't clarify what you meant by God exactly, since it's different things to different people) go look yourself, arrive at your conclusions, and keep them to yourself. Even Christ says, pray in secret and give in secret. Many of us are too busy inventing a God, projecting our vilest, most loathsome human attributes to it and forcing the vile, hateful concoction down other people's throats in the name of religion. Keep your religious beliefs to yourself and respect other people's, even if they have none. But we're too busy thinking our way is the way, our truth is the truth, since we are the ones who believe it and what we believe must be right, since we're the infallible centre of the universe. No religion has a monopoly on truth. None. Whichever religion (s) brings you close to God, to the Harmonious Linchpin of all existence, that's your religion. Atheists aren't saying there's no God, by whichever definition. The ones I know are saying there's no evidence and, based on what is available, they don't believe. Which means if a particular atheist comes across enough evidence to suit him as an individual, he'll change his mind. Indeed, some has. But whether they believe or don't believe, change their minds or not, is entirely their right and their own affair. The presumption of the religious in claiming to know what is 'true' and 'good' for another soul is just the most incredible arrogance. Examine and educate yourself about your own beliefs and keep your nose out of other people's business. If you've found your truth, keep it to yourself, and let others find theirs, which may differ from yours but is no less true. |
yjay:I know and vouch for the Neutrogena product, honey. It's excellent. There are always good alternatives. If you've used a good product with results you can see and measure, post it here, and tell everybody what it does. You can review Roc products if you've used them. |
doyin13:The Watanabe/Eastwood pairing made me see it a while back. Good movie. Different. |
Lucky Number Slevin. Not bad. I liked Lucy Liu and her 'meet cute' scene with Hartnett. But you could sort of see the ending coming, if you'd paid attention. Bruce Lee movies? He's hot, and very dead, and I wasn't born before any of those movies. I know I've seen em all but I can't recall a single scene. Except those 'gbish gbish' blows and kicks. Will you all agree on a movie already? *rolls eyes * |
obinna5000:I don't give a frak what movie sites say. Frak is my new favourite word now. Got it from BG. Haven't seen the danged Hurt Lucker cos I can't stand War Films. It's mostly trashy WE vs Them violence while soldiers with hard eyes and gritty voices die glorious American deaths. Though I made an exception for Black Hawk Down, I'm not sure I'll be watching this one. There are two sides to a story but in American war films there's only one: Theirs. Propagandist bull by dirty, war-lovin' bastids to make war look glamourous when it's no such thing. Perpetuating the romantic action figures Americans love so much so they can breathe hard and wish their 'boys in Iraq' bloodier hands. If Hurt Locker wins it'll surprise me none. I doubt the deserving District 9'll take home that tin man so they may give it to whomever they like. |
Lmao. You and Spikie had better not spoil pipu here. Spikie I know to be a hopeless case. Persin no fit kip pickin wit am. You HAVE to see BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. It's phenomenal. It's set a standard no other SCI-FI franchise can hope to reach. I'm glowing just thinking about it. ![]() And no, if there's justice on this planet Avatar won't win Best Picture. It's a great movie, but there are at least three better movies on that list. Yes, give it what-all for the mind-boggling visuals. But Best Picture? No. The most deserving is District 9. Everyone knows that. But the Oscars is all politics now, so who knows what the frak will happen. |
If you're in your thirties (or even late twenties) and aren't using a retinol, you'll be sorry is, oh, a decade or so. By then you won't be able to do much about it. Retinol is so good for the skin, I'll let you do some fact finding yourself. Suffice to say, if you start using it in your late twenties and are in your late thirties, there'll be very, very little difference in your skin. You'll look almost the same as you did a decade earlier! It's true. Now retinyl palminate is NOT retinol. Now you want a product with 1% retinol. Anything stronger a dermatologist will have to prescribe for you. Here are the best over the counter retinols: PHILOSOPHY HELP ME RETINOL NIGHT TREATMENT: $45 SKINCEUTICALS RETINOL : $36 What follows is the VERY BEST retinol on the market: Check out the price. NEUTROGENA HEALTHY SKIN ORIGINAL FORMULA : $14!!!! It's currently $9.79 at Amazon right now. NEUTROGENA is the best skin care company on the planet. Sometimes you wonder if they think of a bottomline. Wonderful products, better than the competitors, at a quarter of the price. I don't venture outdoors without their DRYBLOCK SPF 85 sunscreen. Start incorporating their retinol product into your night skincare regime. Don't use retinol with a product that contains AHA, mind.

Lol. He's fine. Mebbe he's doing some sphinxy, Buddha-like thing and doesn't want to be heard from here for now. Spikie, sorry about Alexander McQueen. So wonderfully talented. Poor, poor man, and so young. |
Sci fi reject from the university of sci fi clicks LOL!!! The 'random' thing amused me till I got to that one and nearly laughed my head off. You people have started. You missed o, snubbing it on TV. They wrapped it up last year so it's DVDs or downloads now . It was imagined as four seasons and they stuck to the plan. I dare you to watch the pilot and be able to watch anything else till you've finished the series. Even the sci fi aspect is understated. It's pure, human drama. Believe me when I say, it's magnificent. And this is from someone who snubbed the Star Wars prequels because it's, well, crap. I'm so satisfied I don't know what to do with myself. |
Lol. You mean, now I'm a woman, now I'm not, randomly? ![]() Have not seen a movie in weeks and weeks. Not inclined to either. Nothing will pry my eyeballs from Battlestar Galactica for a while. |
Lol. You're crazy, man. REVIEW: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA SEASON 1-4 I knew within three minutes of the pilot that I was in the hands of a master. No superlative can adequately express my feelings about this series. This is the best sci-fi series this diehard sci fi fan has ever seen, and one of the greatest tv series of all time, in any genre. Excellent plot. Superb acting. Compelling characters. Outstanding writing. The 'earth as myth' part reminds one of Asimov's final book in the Foundation and Earth series. Galactica gets so many little things right it's almost incredible. Murder, love, hate, death, prophecy, resurretion, space battles, betrayal, hope and lust and salvation to spare. I especially loved their religions. The humans believe in many gods and pray fervently to them, even the most irreverent of the pilots. The machines (Cylons) scoff at that and believe there is only one God. And yet the prophecies in the human scripture is coming to pass. Humans created cylons, and the cylons almost obliterated humanity in a series of military strikes, laying waste the 12 colonies or planets that humans inhabit. Earth exists only in legends and no one believes it's a real place. What's left of humanity flees to the intriguing Commader Adama, and, pursued by the Cylons, run from galaxy to galaxy on his ships. The only other series comparable in complex characterization is LOST. But in some ways, this is better than LOST. Whoever made this series, may the Gods of Kobol bless your inspired heart. So say we all.

I just love these little movie tidbits of yours. Zoe Saldana wasn't nominated for a Best Supporting Actress oscar cos it's CGI. Same thing happened to the actor who played Gollum in LOTR. |
Lol that was Browncocos' suggestion. She swears by it, and it makes sense. PONDS COLD CREAM CLEANSER 4 STARS I tried this cold cream once and was hooked. I don't use much make up because of the wahala of taking it all off. I really don't buy into this two faces stuff, where your made-up face is staggeringly different from your plain face, and you'd die rather than venture out without eyeliner at least. I understand it but, get that beautiful skin( it's SO bleeping EASY) and you'll need less and less make up. Which means less trauma for your skin. There's a reason men's faces look younger than women's faces of the same age. This cleanser was so smooth and made my skin feel SILKY as it removed every dot of make up. It's so inexpensive! Honestly, sometimes the magic lies in the cheap products. High pricea don't gurantee quality. This product has been around for over a hundred years. Generations of women have used it. I'm not surprised. It smells a little hair-relaxer-ish, but don't let that bother you. It's a great make up remover. The best so far.
|
I'll check it out cos of Latifah. I like her and she almost always chooses quality projects. Saw SENTINEL, starring Michale Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria and Kim Basinger. I'm embarrassed for all the actors that let their faces been seen on this lacklustre, lifeless, inept, flatulent 'thriller'. |
yjay, you haven't posted a Porselene product review. You've used their lotion for months now. iIt sounds like what Ihsann might need, if what they claim is true; but cosmetic coys make a living from lying, so. @ihsann There's no way you're going to apply something to remove hyperpigmentation all over your your skin, and it miraculously targets only the dark spots. It will work wherever applied, so apply ONLY to the places on your skin that need it, and use your regular moisturiser for the rest. It's when the product lightens the dark patches of skin and it's the same tone as the rest of you that your skin becomes even. If the dark marks are on your face, Makari Caviar Face cream will remove it. I don't know good these Porselene products are. Too much hype over them. |
JK, why aren't you giving the average rating for Sherlock? There are three good reviews. I haven't seen it, but I will sometime . Everything Downey Jr does these days attracts award nominations, like he just invented acting. It'll be a hot day in Iceland before I see a movie titled 'Ninja Assassin'. |
I don't know who I want to win Best Actor more badly; Morgan Freeman or Jeff Bridges. Ah well. AVATAR now the highest grossing film in history. In six weeks. Whoever did the marketing is a god. |
Lol at the Razzies list. Glad to see Megan in there. About time she was duly honoured for her contributions to cinema. Never really into the Twilight/New Moon thing. Liked the nominations overall. |
Lovely. Someone else sang the praises of Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturiser to me a while back. Haven't tried it. Clinique has some great make up. But no lipstick compares to the Urban Decay line for me. Hmm. I'm trying that Neutrogena hand lotion. |
Hmmm. Checking it out. |
Is there a post above this one? It's not showing. It would appear you hauled Chrisbenogor's butt outta the cinematic stone age, JS. He's so deep in there he probably still watches Sesame Street. Will postpone Masala a while. Catching up on Mad Men on DVD. |
Road Trip and Enemy of the State and Body of Lies? Top Ten? ROAD FREAKIN' TRIP? doyin13:Lol. Crazy much? spikedcylinder:The Vegan thing is just killing me here lol. So evil Will check out Masala. No gratuitious romping o, or I'm out of there. I cannot cannot cannot stand movies that hide under 'romance' and hurt my eyes with too much nekkid. Like that Original Sin. What's your objection to AVATAR? You haven't even seen it. |
Preacher? Spikie hit her head. How's the head now, Spikie dear? Will someone review something watchable? Will review Pulp Fiction SAIC. I know Darthmaul from the Bond thread. He's cool. Who's Kinkinatus, JS? Haven't come across him in any section before. |
lol |
zaliya:Will ask around. |
Olay Regenerist is a line of products for the face from Olay. The one here is the day cream. It's just for the face but it lasts. I've been using the jar with me for almost four months. You use it and then apply your regular face or body lotion. Have you gone through all the products on this thread and couldn't find a body cream? That's not likely. Look through. I don't know much about soap. I use Likas Papaya soap or Johnsons' baby soap or any baby soap. It's just to keep the skin clean. If you can't find a good moisturiser after looking through, I'll post a few more. |
I guess, when all his toys are taken away, Landa is just a man, and a Nazi; no bigger or smaller than any other Nazi the Basterds have dealt with. What's with you and this Ninja Assasin sef? |
Of two minds about seeing this Disney Princess and the Frog. All these years in a multiracial society and now they deign to issue a black princess? Annoying. |
JeSoul: ![]() The Denzel film looks painfully old. Might check it out if it aged well. |
