Lol. So your husband is going through hard times and is clearly depressed and what is on your mind is how to leave him and your child. The man is not lazy neither is he non-challant. He is depressed and resigned to fate because of the terrible hand life has dealt him. But it is only a phase. He will soon regain his fighting spirit back and rise again. I am sure you will be enjoying his money then and telling people how you stood by him. Now is the time to stay by him and play your role as his support. If you cannot, please leave and do not come back when things get better.
Education / Re: 7 Reasons Why Degree Holders Are Poor By Malam Mamuda Kabir DUTSINMA by Maduawuchukwu(m): 1:51pm On Sep 29, 2020
MrAkata:

First of all it's a lie that majority Nigerians do menial jobs with their degrees. You need to add more context to that statement.

1) Are the degrees they have from accredited universities ? There is also a heirachy in degrees in America.

2) What you majored in plays a huge role also. Some degrees/majors in America are basically useless while others are like All Access VIP tickets.

3) Has the person completely finished his schooling. It's common to see a person w/ a degree working in Starbucks. The reason is because they may be working towards their masters or PhD. They would rather take a part time job with flexibility so that they are able to spend more time on their studies.

4) The person may very well be lying. A lot of Nigerians in the US lie about their credentials. That taxi man or security guard could very well be lying about his degrees. I've seen a lot of people with fake degrees in the US. A lot of people honestly were tricked and didn't know and some thought they could trick the system.

That leads me into the problem with this post and why this isn't applicable in the US. The biggest problem is believing you that if you are offered an opportunity and can't do it then you should lie and take the job.

1 ) This only bleeps it up for not only other Nigerians but black Americans as well. I understand Nigerians don't understand the concept of being black because you weren't raised in America. The reality is MOST white people could care less if u are Nigerian, Jamaican or Black American in their eyes you are BLACK. So that will affect the next black person looking for an opportunity.

2 ) It will only make it harder for you in the long run. You will constantly have to relocate yourself or reinvent yourself. America is a small place as big as it may seem. You screw up one place and it will haunt you forever. Everything goes off of resumes and referrals and they have databases depending on your industry. Once your name comes up in the BBB as being sheisty or a liar then you will have to change your name if u want anymore opportunities.

3 ) it's not necessary to lie. If you are honest a lot of people will still hire you. You may not make as much but they'll put u in a position to learn what they want to know. Some people like training you from the ground up because you won't bring your bad habits to their business. It's an "you can't teach a dog new tricks mentality " but you can train a puppy to your liking.

A degree is not necessary to succeed necessarily but this is bullshit. I just finished my degree and i made more when i didn't have it at. I was making 80k fresh out of high school with no degree and doubled that over the years.

The problem is when that industry slowed down and i was tired of it I was stuck. I pigeonholed myself and had to go back to school.

A good degree offers you longevity and security.

Hmmm. What you wrote here is very valuable. Thanks

After the dossier review, 54 cadets were withdrawn, they were withdrawn in just 1 day, that was the highest number in the history of nda, since 1964 nothing like that ever happened, well change they say is the only constant thing in life. We were supposed to go home for 2nd quarter break this April but because of the pandemic they cancelled the break and told us that we were going to go home this October, that's 10 months training without break, well she they stopped teaching us A branch (Academics) and the only thing we were taught was g branch(military) training...

All the whole Academy courses were not happy because they didn't give us break and we heard rumors that polac(police academy) were home because the president ordered all schools to closed... Late April some clowns blew awol and went to town, they decided to sleep in a primary school, it was in the afternoon so they didn't want to return to the Academy, they were just marking time for it to get dark so they slept off, the villagers there thought that they were bandits because they were looking very dirty, in nda to be a clown is like to be with disease because clownship is a disease, so the villagers called jtf and police, the arrested those clowns and asked them who they were, they told them that they were cadets but the villagers didn't believe, they had to call and officer and the officer that came was Mogadishu battalion acting CO, major IH Suileman, one of the most malicious officers in nda, he told the cadets to enter his boot and he started driving, he was about taking them to the Academy..... Brb

My Law firm is one of the Law establishments representing a Cadet involved in this saga in court.

This remark is funny

How old are you ?

Have you got any idea what Nigeria looked like in 1972

Reading through this thread one would imagine that Nigeria was full of foreign businesses in 1972.

The reality is there was not even a pure water factory anywhere. In Lagos state there were not up to 20 bakeries
and there were night soil men carrying shit in buckets from peoples houses to dump in the Lagoon in Lagos

There was no Lagos Ibadan express way., No PH Aba expressway . Not a single dual carriageway expressway in the whole country

It is illogical to talk about what indigenization decree led to or did not lead to without perspective

What is the name of the largest company that was affected.
What was the size of that company in $$
Any clue?

Was it the indigenisation decree that led to Nigeria's present development? Do you know how harmful that policy was to Nigeria's investment drive? How many of the big indigenous Companies today arose from that programme?

Every independent Country always strive to promote the Prosperity of her own citizens first before the prosperity of outsiders.

Nigerians actually established their own companies. As a matter of fact, some of the companies mentioned in this article of propaganda were established by Nigerians e.g Odua Textiles, Ado-Ekiti, Nigerian Tribune and Wema Bank.

However, Nigeria and Nigerians before 1960 were grossly disadvantaged by colonialism to establish many companies like the Colonial powers.

At the end of the day we have all seen that indigenisation did not lead to prosperity for Nigerians in the long run. The same foreign investors we chased away with the decree are now the ones we are pursuing all around the globe to invest in Nigeria. If the government was desirous of improving the capacity of Nigerians to take part in the Nation's economy, there were many other ways to ensure that other than indigenisation.

What you call indigenization is properly termed "nationalization". It was not invented by Nigerians.

It is a very popular concept by countries to assert their independence and control over their resources.

The ability to run a company is not the same as founding one and I have seen no evidence
that Nigerians were grossly incapable.

The concept of Nationalisation is no longer in vogue. The little resurgence it is gaining now is merely a passing phase which will go with Trump and his likes. Countries no longer seek to nationalise, instead they hunt aggressively for foreign investment. Nationalisation na scam.

Quit this your silly propanganda.

1) Awolowo had resigned from the Gowon Regime shortly after the civil war in 1971.

The indigenization of these qouted companies took place around 1975-1978.

2) The clamour for indegenization policy (now called local content development) started in the 1950s to ensure that political Independence also guarantee economic Independence for Nigerians.

The purpose of the indigenisation decree was bullshit for me. Nigerians were clearly not capable of managing the multinationals present then. If they were capable, they would have founded their own companies.

Ipob did not attack anybody. I have been following this news on ground. I just got off phone with my cousin who is in that town and many people were even shocked to hear this report.

The people believe its a tactic to legitimize another wipe out of innocent Igbo youths. After this one they will enter another town and give another reason to target Ipob and kill Igbos on our soil.

We are calling on international bodies and leaders to call Nigeria to order. Stop killing innocent Igbo youths.

Ok. I hope you are right Nwanne. More investigation should go into this. Ndigbo cannot be barbaric because others act in that manner.

The answer to your question is contained in the heading of his post! How did the accusers reach the conclusion the assailants were IPOB? Did they drop leaflets after the purported attack?

The body of his post did not tally with the heading. His heading suggested outright rejection of the claim that IPOB killed the Hausa guys but his body didn't support the heading and even suggested that they killed the guys because of certain reasons which he stated.

If they all had genuine intentions they should rent a house and do their business not seetting up camps in thick bushes and inviting their brothers where its oblivious no genuine business is happening there.

If our leaders can't speak up we the people will

Are you implying that IPOB attacked the Hausa community out of these reasons mentioned by you?

This is politics not a motivational conference.

You pick a SE candidate for now, in opposition.....you will be shattered into pieces. Most of those people giving motivational statements up there, ask them why their zone didn't field anyone in APC in 2015. Why was it zoned to the North...especially North-West.

They said it was to complete Yar'adua's tenure, then why is it not going to SS to complete GEJ's tenure.

You can dare to dream (according to my Pastor in Ibadan), but this is politics, there is no morality here.

PDP had all the chance whilst in power, for now, it is not feasible.

Hahaha. Thank you my brother. That is what I have been asking them since. The people encouraging you to run in 2023, why did they not push someone from their region in 2015 and 2019?

Hello Everyone.
I have an event coming up and I want to have two or three soldiers there for protection for guests who'll sleep overnight.
The issue is I don't know the protocol for that.
Do I have to make it official by going to a barrack or a force headquarters or something or can I simply get a soldier that'll come with his friends and do it off the book.
Those that have experience with this kinda thing should offer some advice please.

Forgive the off topic post please I felt since we have a lot of military personnel here they can put me through

Na wa oh!!! So you wan turn soldier to maiguard for your private event? You no see Police go hire?

Obi is very capable of selling Ndigbo out to collect VP slot.

PDP is not going to give a politician from the East the Presidency ticket. That is going to be the surest way to lose the elections. APC is weak now and could lose the 2023 elections to PDP if the Opposition could get the NW,NE,SE and SS. But if a SE politician gets the ticket, PDP will win only the SE and SS. The NW and NE will go with the SW presidential candidate because they have had dealings with them since 2015 and are more comfortable with them.
When we say the SE can win the presidency in 2023, it is a matter of fact which is based on logic and not emotions. The SE political elite have been anonymous since 2015 that I will not be surprised if Wike or one of the SS guys wrestles the VP ticket. Be strategic and not emotional.
