I am a John Grisham groupie but my gawd did he disapoint me with the innocent man. That was the first book I never completed. Do not buy it.
The Innocent Man was non-fiction, that's maybe why you didn't enjoy it. It took me longer than usual to finish the book, but it wasn't THAT bad. I think real Grisham fans should be ready to read ANYTHING he writes. I'm not a true fan, yet I managed to finish it! |
Every nation on this earth has its good and bad sides. Of course, it's fun to h8 on the UK because they can be so pompous and intolerant themselves, as if they're faultless. The first image I can recollect of England was in the train station at Heathrow where I saw two guys dressed in kinky black leather hot pants and net stockings necking as they bought tickets. I wish now I took pictures so I could add them to the fantastic album growing on this thread. |
My taking a nap is not ur problem, what is, is how to relate with others on a forum. I notice that litle-minded people like you contribute only to put others down, and use the license of this faceless site to do what u could never do if you actually had to meet me eye to eye. So keep hiding behind the keyboard, jack ass, and I can blab as much as I want to, you're not paying my internet bills. At least I usually have something nice to say - except when interacting with no-brainers like YOU. Needless to say, I do have better things to do. Wish you could say the same, I'll bet. ![]() |
@ Maedan, ah, i see, i see, lol@ brotha I'm Fair and proud, ![]() , oh and totally agee with the rice and beansillustration, it's not good or bad, it's just different!
@ m.i. u said it better than i could! ![]() and for the record, i have nothing against anyone, my younger sister is an authentc oyibo pepper, and she's totally adorable, with a sweet nature to match. so it must be true that it doesn't really matter about the skin tone, but what's on the inside. Much love!! ![]() |
heyyy, i wasn't dissing, only giving my own view. like i said in my initial post, it's nothing personal, "like asking someone if you like rice or beans." until brotha "i'm fair and proud" said i was fooling myself. all i meant was, i get totally attracted to dark guys, and not to fair. I only pointed out reasons why generally, dark skinned guys are considered cool(er) and to mr jack -ass, mayb u should roll around in some tar, get darkened up, and just maybe you'll score more chicks. ![]() |
jaquan:see me see wahala o, was i refering to u artificial whitey, superior my ass, add black oil to a glass of milk lets see who'll dominate, your color is only skin deep, don't u get it, it's all in d mind. i can tell your mind is very little or else why pick on someone making her own opinion? cranky yellow a-hole. by d way, yellow has always been classified with weakness, so go figure. and p.s., check out the poll on this thread alone. black is sooo totally hot, YELLOW PAWPAW is so totally NOT! get a life. ![]() |
ubonboy:i made the effort to change not just to keep him, but because i realised that everything he said about me was true, and i had to do the change for my own good, or else whoever i dated next would have the same problem with me. so you see, she has to know it's in her best interest to change, or she'll end up a lonely old hag. make her see sense so that even if you end up with someone else, she'd be grateful to you for leaving her a better person than she was when you were with her. We women are so complex, no one can understand us. we can't even understand ourselves! ![]() |
@ poster d one thing I could get very clear from ur whole post, is that you LOVE her why else would you be taking so much time to figure all this out? pple dont understand: attitude problems can be fixed. it's all in d inside. my advice: put your foot down, and tell her (and MEAN it) that if she doesn't change (i.e., be more respectful, caring and thoughtful to you and others) then you'll leave her. when she realises she'll lose the only(probably) person in the world that loves her, she'll clean up her act. this option really works. It did for me. I was such an ass (almost like her) and then my hubby to be threatened to leave. Needless to say, I changed my spots, hard as it was to do. Now we're happy, because now I know better. if you really do love her, make the last effort b4 u walk away. Therez no Ms Perfect, the next girl you date might be worse. You're used to this woman, MAKE her good for you. or not. Itz really your choice, no matter what we all say. Wish u luck!!! |
for moi, black is so much better. Thankfully, my boo feels d same ![]() it's nothing personal, just like asking someone, do u like rice or beans. black(skinned) guys seem to get more props: nothing to do with manliness: some fair guys can be such hunks(go Terence Howard!) but there's just something about a coffee, chocolate and coal-skinned guy, dark has always been connected to power, masculinity, sexy. Or why do oyibos struggle to get tans, fake or not? ![]() |
there was this movie about ABIKU/OGBANJE, NTA loved showin during d festive periods. that too was scary back then,

i remember that film too! back then, it was eerie, and something tells me that even now, it'll still scare me! (Nigerian films generally do that to you.) |
John Grisham has FANS?!! ![]() just kidding!!! when i was younger, i generally avoided Grisham - too windy, dull. but in a desperate moment(no other book in d house!) I snatched up The Runaway Jury and - BEEN HOOKED EVER SINCE! also happen to own Innocent Man (a gift, so i HAD to read it) read one cool one too, street lawyer. in any case, his books are good. don't knock it till u try it! |
emmanuele:hey! i thought this was a prisonbreak-only thread! how come you're recommending another series! just kidding!don't mind me. after watching all three seasons of PB in less than a week, after ignoring it all these years, I confess I became a freaky fan. If Dominic Purcell ain't in it, I aint waatching ooo!! once again, just kidding. maybe i WILL check out VANISHED, since you recommend it. Any other ones, old or new, that you think are nice? i'm playing catch-up now, and I've got time on my hands. just another couch potato. ![]() |
prison break season 4? yes, yes, yes, , four times yes! someone once sed he didnt care that sara died, that she was too "tepid" for michael. it's her sweetness, realness and maturity that made the hard-to-impress michael fall in love. you wanted a prison break fan? you've found one! I'm waaay too glad that sara will be back. and, of course, the utterly kissable, bigheaded Lincoln, who incidentally, was the main reason i started watching prison break, next to the great plot of course. ![]() |
If Mickey is dead, then why is there a season four coming up soon? D-uh. And yes, we ladies do watch PB just for the cuteness of Michael Scofield. And Link. And Sucre. Yes, and even the bad-ass T-bag. Next time anyone wants to spread bad info, I'll be sending The Company after 'em. Long live Prison Break!!! |
Esss:lol lol lol LOL!!!!! thanks for saying it like it is. That Stylee video with Jimmy Jatt was cool , plus the Ole video with Sound Sultan. but then again, those weren't his videos either. Why can't he learn from them while he's doing collabo's? He's really a "mumu". ![]() |
Thank God! I was beginning to think it was just me and my crew who think 2face is zero on videos. Not for lack of funds, SO WOTS HIS PROBLEM! He really does undermine his fantastic songs with those crappy videos. Gosh, I loved that Shank video and song.Wot a badman! .Kini Big Deal was the bomb too, great clothes. Classiest naija video yet, but what's with the "P" suspense? Whateva. Now that's a video that makes a great song get more credibility on the streets and in the world!! |
Sorry to say, I didn't like the Cindy Rella story either. Had a headache just trying to finish it. And finish I had to, so I could make a fair judgement. Maybe it's just the format, because I believe only producers and directors of movies have to go through the stress of reading stories in script format. They get used to it. Unfortunately, lesser mortals like me rather read our stuff in plain old prose. I enjoy fairytales and I'm working on some modern-day versions of some myself. That's why I looked in on the topic. Just try again with it, make it less cumbersome, more original, less bogus and definitely less technical, it'll make a lot more sense. Just my honest opinion tho'. |
bebure:yes, I've wondered about that issue on the show as well. But then "sweet 16s" basically a white culture, just like halloween and thanksgiving in America used to be. So long as black people want to fit into white celebrations, they may always be second place. About this African poverty: it's so true: we're no more colonised, but we still can't make our country work! Is there someone pressing buttons somewhere so that no matter how we try, Africa will always be the DARK continent? God should help us and our future generations. Amen. ![]() |
Nice one. You can never get TOO motivated, so keep at it. The books really work - christian and otherwise. Reading is even greater than just listening to tapes: you build up your mind as well as your motivation. Keep being Motivated! (I can't seem to say that word enough!) ![]() |
For real? Then it has to be Omen - all of them. I don't care how old those Omen movies are, they almost ruined my childhood!! Well, they also prepared me for whatever horror movies I watch till today. Nowaday, nothing can faze me. Secret Window? Bring it on! |
StephenP:thanks! and for a guy, u write some nice, sensitive, deep stuff. damn right i'm inspired! and PRESpired!! ![]() |
lady bam:well i must say that really lightens up the mood around here. ![]() |
mohawkchic:I'm actually afraid to call her up and ask, I may not like the answer! (might be scary!) Just gimme some time to think up some more, it's been a while and some of these things are extinct bc we all did them, grew up and nothing happened. ![]() Now I'm off to break more mirrors ![]() |
Seriously though, I always find the most striking stuff from the bible. Here's my favorite verse, a great pick-me-up when I need one: O you afflicted one Tossed with the tempest and not comforted I will lay your stones with colorful gems And lay your foundations with Sapphires, I will make your pinnacles of Rubies, Your gates of Crystal And all your walls of Precious stones. ~ISAIAH 54 v 11 It's good to know God loves some Bling~bling too. Word! |
@mohawkchic Mum's a dear,a true African mama, and thankfully all my siblings and I grew up stable despite all her efforts to frighten us with her antics ![]() However, there's one thing she still does and I can't remember why Anytime it rains, she runs around the house and covers up all the mirrors! |
StephenP:**fanning self** !!! This has brought the STEAM back into the room!! The second one was profound too, blast it! Is there nothing you CAN'T do? I hail! |
crazylegs:@crazylegs Darn, she beat me to it. Been dyyyying to ask about it too. I used to think it had to do with your dancing skills! lol Girls and our imagination. ![]() |
mohawkchic:Heh heh here's two more for the collection: Don't wash clothes in the rain, the soapy water attracts lightening. (You'll get struck!) And don't pour the washing up water down the toilet. (People will hate you!) I'll have to call mum up and ask her of some more. She used to scare the crap out of us with them. lol |
Now here's something from Mariah Carey that really struck me when I had the CD, stolen by some other MC freak lyk me! I was a wayward child, with the weight of the world that I had deep inside Life was a winding road and I learned many things little ones shouldn't know And I close my eyes, settle my feet on the ground, Raise my head to the sky And as time rolls by, still I feel like a child when I look at the moon. Maybe I grew up a little too soon. There you go! That verse just SPEAKS to me. Can't remember the name of the song, but I love MC and I think if you want deep lyrics, she's the best for inspiration. Just love the new BYE BYE song. That voice, aahhh |
crazylegs:Not a Kenny Rogers fan, awww! I'm not a Kenny fan either, my younger sisters are Nuts for him, even though they're in their twenties. It's crazy. The way these young girls like country ( even pple like Dolly Parton) I worry about their genes. Like the You've got to fight to be a man song too. Kenny Rogers made some good tunes. Hmmn, mayb this should just turn into a Kenny Rogers thread. lol |
Don't know why, but some ladies want more lips and less tongue - taste them not eat them! And don't go shoving buckets of saliva down their throat and expect them to swallow it. UGGHH!If a woman meets a guy who can kiss her right, KEEP HIM! You can bet that's what I did, and this will be our comfort when we're old and gray and the mechanism can no longer be activated. Kissing is for life, learn the skill NOW. |
