FoodRe: Candy Poll by maedan(f): 2:08pm On Nov 19, 2008
I'm more of a crisps person actually, but when it comes to candy, I'm good for the gooey-in-the-middle type. Mars bars!
FoodRe: Mr Bigg's, Tantalizers Or Sweet Sensations: Which Is The Best? by maedan(f): 2:04pm On Nov 19, 2008
SweetSen have a better customer package i.e, more variety of dishes, better presentation and better taste! Tantalizers is just "effizi" and no substance, while eating at Mr Biggs is a guaranteed health hazard! But the last time I was home they'd started one kind "mama put" section where they served our local delicacies. Whatever, I kept well away!
FoodRe: What Food Should Kids Have In Their Lunch Pack? by maedan(f): 1:58pm On Nov 19, 2008
Sandwiches are always a good bet, 'because they are satisfying, easy to prepare, and can be very nutritious if you fill them with the right stuff. Vegetables, fruits, healthy spreads can be incorporated into these sandwiches. Kids love it when you cut it into triangles, it's fun to eat! Also, it doesn't mess up the lunch box and you only have to worry about a few bread crumbs! smiley
FoodRe: How Good A Cook Are You by maedan(f): 1:53pm On Nov 19, 2008
If there's a cooking scale, I'm sure I'll smash it! In other words, I'm a great cook. Comes from learning from different people and mixing it all in. My mom, my friends, my roommate, my boo(he taught me how to make perfect eba). A good cook is someone who, even when the kitchen cupboard is almost bare, he/she can still create a fantastic dish. That's me! cool
HealthRe: What If I Decided Not To Sweat by maedan(f): 1:47pm On Nov 19, 2008
Some people with over-sweating issues can take injections that stop sweating for up to 6months till the next dose. As for not sweating, I don't think it's bad since the body always has other ways of ridding itself of unwanted liquid.
LiteratureRe: London Town: Some Short Stories by maedan(f): 9:40am On Nov 19, 2008
@poster,

Too much! Some people are effortlessly funny. That's you. I never thought I could laugh this early in the morning, what with the weather as it is. In other words, I know just what u mean, I see the same thing each day, but on the other side of town!

Keep 'em coming . . . please? grin
FoodRe: Bad Habits in the kitchen by maedan(f): 7:02pm On Nov 18, 2008
This is for those eating pounded yam at your local mama put - enjoy the salty sweat dripping from the muscular body of the male/female pounder. lipsrsealed

Those eating amala at your roadside buka - watch as Mama Shakira balances the pot between her legs and turns the amala . . .

Even those eating at Mr Biggs, Chicken Republic, Tastee Fried etc - you're not safe either. Do you really think those fastfood attendants keep their fingers from pinching from the food when the manager is not looking? grin

Thank God for yam powder. I eat my poundy at home with ease. Infact, I can't remember the last time I ate local food outside. It tastes so much better homemade!!!

CultureRe: Funny/Silly Superstitious Beliefs You've Heard/Believe! by maedan(f): 5:54pm On Nov 18, 2008
I found it really hard to dig the spill-salt-you're-in-trouble stuff. My brothers and I fight anyway whether I spill salt on the floor or not. I guess those days salt was very precious and expensive so they had to think up ways for people to handle it with more care.

Isn't it NAFDAC that spilled almost 100 bags of non-iodized salt the other day in the market? Wouldn't that be enough to cause another civil war (by superstitious standards)? cheesy tongue
FashionRe: Ladies! What Cologne's Do You Love To Smell On A Man? by maedan(f): 3:51pm On Nov 15, 2008
Different perfs for different folks; what I like on one guy might not smell nice on another sooo . . . I think I'd prefer my man's cologne to be Healthy, Natural, Sweet Body Scent not manufactured by any big name but by himself. If the Tommy or Polo Sport finish nko? Clean body perf suits me just fine. cheesy
CelebritiesRe: little Kim Looks Like Wax Stature by maedan(f): 3:39pm On Nov 15, 2008
How can someone deliberately make the same mistakes Michael Jackson made? She was never as rich or famous as MJ anyway, so she's stuck with showing her mutilated mug in public or else, how will she get paid?At least ol' Mj can afford to stay at home! undecided
CultureRe: Funny/Silly Superstitious Beliefs You've Heard/Believe! by maedan(f): 3:27pm On Nov 14, 2008
here's a new (old) one: Never spill salt on the floor, it brings about a fight/quarrel in the house! huh grin!!

RomanceRe: Fine Boy Fine Trouble by maedan(f): 4:32pm On Nov 12, 2008
the thing is to try and make sure he balances the fine face with fine character. Who needs a proud, roving-eye Adonis? If he's got a good heart, you can make it work, 'cos he'll never cheat or feel like he's doing you a favour by being ur man. It's a high-risk situation either way!
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries by maedan(f): 3:57pm On Nov 12, 2008
@bouncy,

a friend of mine had a similar situation, but it was for a family visit. She was refused because the family member gave her only photocopies of the relevant documents.

she was also refused on the ground that she did not show a sincere reason for the visit, because she did not show strong ties to her homecountry(employer's letter, bank statement etc). They said they did not believe she would come back at the end of the visit.

I just think you should show enough proof that you will return, that is, proof of a good job. The state of your account should not matter, you're not sponsoring yourself, but do you have pay slips to show how much you've been paid?

All in all, I think the application is very risky, as the British Embassy is getting very strict with first-time travellers. Maybe you should go online and find people who've succeeded in such an application and ask how they went about it.

first of all i need to point out that 9ice isn't a rapper @maedan , please take note
hey, to me, he is. At least, on that track with Tuface(Street Cred) he rapped some cool lines. To say the truth, I was refering to his originality and style.

Nairaland GeneralRe: 50000 Members And Counting by maedan(f): 9:33pm On Nov 10, 2008
is it just me or is it that everytime I just check on my top right hand corner, I see that a new member has joined the 'Land? It's like every two minutes you see a new name on the "latest member". If that isn't 'fastest growing' then I don't know what is!
PoliticsRe: Yaradua Sues The Media For Defamation by maedan(f): 9:01pm On Nov 10, 2008
goodness me, I hope he won't sue me for thinking this: my friends were discussing the other day that Yaradua could possilbly be a zombie influenced by some faceless people, he just doesn't act like he's himself. Almost like he's being remote-controlled. It's scary to think he's Nigeria's president.***shiver***
Music/RadioRe: Xmas Songs. by maedan(f): 8:56pm On Nov 10, 2008
A good one to teach kids for christmas, would be the "On The First Day of Christmas, My True Love Sent To Me, " I'm sure you know the one. It's long and it keeps them busy while helping them develop a good memory grin! And it's classy enough for your butter-eating pupils!
FoodRe: What Do You Feel Like Eating Now? by maedan(f): 8:51pm On Nov 10, 2008
Please pass me a bowl of the crunchiest raisin-and-almonds cornflakes you can find, throw in some ice-cold milk, sprinkle on some sugar and yummm!
You've got me. I could go through a whole 500gram pack right now!
FamilyRe: Women Vs Mother-in-laws by maedan(f): 8:46pm On Nov 10, 2008
Some MILs think they know it all, and can be very judgemental and condemning at times. Just pray for an enlightened and well-bred MIL, not those local ones that think that because they gave birth to your spouse, they can control both your lives.

I pray to be a very easy-going, friendly MIL to my future sons- and daughters-in-law, not to pick at everything they do, wear or say. In fact, I'll try to be their best friend. Not pretend to be. wink
FamilyRe: Please I Need Your Help by maedan(f): 8:38pm On Nov 10, 2008

Garnier can be nice. If you follow the regimen carefully. The facial scrub and cream are doing great for me right now.
Literature/Writing AdsRe: Poetry Contest by maedan(f): 8:03pm On Nov 10, 2008
For those who've ever lost a loved one
I know exactly how you feel
Sometimes you question the very essence of life
You wonder bitterly what it really means

My brother and sister were little
They lived short but penetrating lives
To me they made more impact to this world
Than some people who have lived to be sixty

I've never really talked about it
It happened a long time ago
The feeling of futility is still with me tho'
Side by side with the stubborn spirit of Hope. cry smiley
HealthRe: Pls Give Me Tips On Gaining Weight. by maedan(f): 7:56pm On Nov 10, 2008
it is true that living a sedentary lifestyle will help you gain weight easily. This means, eat a lot and do little. Make sure you eat large meals and just sit around all day. No physical activity allowed. Trust me, you'll run from fat. grin
HealthRe: Drink Water To Stay Healthy:how To Cure The Following Diseases With Water by maedan(f): 7:53pm On Nov 10, 2008
i've heard about stuff like hydrotherapy, where water is the main treatment for most, even chronic diseases.

i'm also aware of the importance of water for wellbeing, but how can one be more compelled to drink enough water especially when the weather doesn't encourage it, eg cool weather when one hardly feels thirsty for water. Well, I like the advice given here and will try to follow it.
