Crime / Re: Castration As Punishment For Rapists In Kaduna Approved By House Of Assembly by MahatmaGhandi: 7:03am On Sep 11, 2020 |
I want to dis-abuse your minds on this castration thing. Castration does stop a man from having sex, it only makes him impotent i e to takes away the ability to impregnate a woman. After castration a man can still have sex, rape is more violent than it is sexual and society has let its emotion get the better of its reasoning. Sex is not bad, it is violent sex that is bad, violence is programmed in the brain, a violent person does violence with all parts of their bodies not just the penis. Besides the penis is not cut off during castration, it is the testicles that gets cut off. In times past even the most developed nations had barbaric means of execution. However, they easily saw that such kinds of punishment and execution casts a dark shadow on society more than it serves as deterrent from crimes. If we can be guilty of imposing inhuman treatment on people because they ran foul of the law, then we are no different from the criminals that we are judging, this is why criminals are fed even in prison and it is for this same reason that some people believe that the death penalty should be abolished as many people have turned out innocent after execution. Rape is very sensitive, it destroys the lives of its victims beyond repair and should be handled with care. Imagine a person accused of rape in Kaduna gets castrated only to be found innocent a few years down the line, how would you repair such damage. Cast you mind back the highly emotional Netflix movie "when they see us" those young men were found guilty of rape and were sentenced only to be innocent after spending a good portion of their lives in jail, if they were in Kaduna, they would have been castrated. Some people hold the belief that if someone is accused of rape, he is most likely guilty and we can go ahead with the judgement and even if he turns out innocent, he would still serve as an example to all future rapists. I cringe at the sound of such unconsidered thoughts and opinions. If feel this law was not given the intellectual rigor that it deserves, and that the sponsors just want to become heroes through the back door, not minding the consequences that this would have in future. It is my opinion that this law is a part of a political weapon and agenda that would unfold soon, you will soon see that people from a certain part of the state would be the victim of this punishment, since all attempts to physically exterminate them have not been as successful as desired. I believe that this law belongs to the dark ages and that we should stick to the current punishment of jail term for rape instead driving this country back to the days of physical holy wars in line with the thoughts of some people. 1 Like |

The injustice that you over-look today will come back to haunt you and your interest. Nobody is asking you to sacrifice your existence for a cause that is not your business. All that is expected of you is that you call injustice by its real name each time it appears and do everything in your power not to be an enabler of the same. Many Nigerians have enabled oppression and injustice directly and indirectly. The hand writing on the wall is very clear and it reads "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" "MENE, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; TEKEL, you have been weighed ... and found wanting;" and "PERES, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians. The only difference is that this time the kingdom is about to be given to the Fulanis and this would surely happen unless the traditional rulers and elders return to the path of justice. If all the traditional rulers in the south of Nigeria put their feet down and demand for justice, no demon even the fiercest ones from the pits of hell would be able to stop them. |

Even Onitsha and the Delta Ibos have links with the ancient benin Kingdom and this does not negate their Ibo heritage. The two can go together. I am neither Igbo nor Bini but my ancestry have both Bini and Igbo ties and there are lots of places like this in Nigeria. 6 Likes |
Nairaland / General / Re: My Experience At A Wedding Affected My View On Gender Equality by MahatmaGhandi: 4:45pm On Jul 26, 2020 |
thotsofnaij: This is unfair. Unless otherwise stated public seats don't usually come with name tags. If I leave my seat without informing anyone about it and fail to leave a sign that my exit is temporary, anyone can take the seat and I would lose my right to that seat. Most times people just want to be manipulative. I have been in situations where I sat on a lady's unmarked seat and was asked to leave the seat and I did, i have also had a lady occupy my seat and promised to get up when I came back, this lady refused to get up and dared me to do my worst. I walked away and got another seat (there is nothing gentlemanly about leaving the seat for her, on a good day i would drag her from the seat) In truth i have experienced this position with men and women, a trouble maker is a trouble maker wether man or woman. My point here is that the goal posts of fairness and justice must remain fixed and should not be shifted irrespective of gender. On the aspect of hitting people, my principle is simple, lay hands on anyone that lays hand on you. No gender has the monopoly of violence. 1 Like |

AntiChristian: John 11:33-36 KJVA "When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, and said, Where have ye laid him? They say unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!" Hebrew4: 14-16 "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need" I made above quotations just to give context to our discussion. Jesus was human just like you and me. He had family, friends and detractors just like we all have today. You will notice that there was wailing and probably commotion in the place when Jesus arrived. He saw Mary weeping and the atmosphere was tensed, these were his very close associates. Now you must note that every time Jesus healed or performed a miracle, the Bible would always state that "he was moved and had compassion on him or her; or he will just groan in his spirit" he went through all these emotions because he saw the state of fallen man, this is not what man was at the beginning, the elements had no power over man, man was like God before the fall. He did not create man as an ordinary mortal being and seeing that man by his own choices has become mortal and subjected to the elements over which he should reign, brought him to tears and sorrow seeing that man is in deep shit and that he needed to do something about it. Imagine the pain of an immortal being that became subjected to corruption by his or her own choice and knowing that he was supposed to be a master piece. It is like a king whose only son and heir became reckless and was tricked into the legal slavery of one of his fathers chieves that has been burnished. The father would put everything in place to get his son out of servitude, just like God has done, but it would be choice of the Prince to either stay in servitude or become free, now picture how sad the King would be to see that he has paid the price for the release of the son and out of the son's own volition the he chose servitude over freedom. If this happens the father would be in pains but would not be able to save his heir. When jesus wept, he did not weep because Lazarus died, he wept because man was not suppose to be in this state in the first place. To prove to you that Jesus wept for deeper reasons than the death of Lazarus I refer you to John 11: 11- 16 "After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.” His disciples replied, “Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.” Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” Then Thomas (also known as Didymus) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” You will notice from the above that Jesus did not say Lazarus is dead, he said referred to death as sleep because to him that was all it could be. He knew Lazarus had died and knew what he was going to do, however when he saw how bad the human condition was, he wept and his heart was resolved that he would do everything to save man. Raising man from the dead is not a big deal for God. The big deal is what happens to man after he drops his mortal clothing. If you drop your mortal clothing without accepting the price that Christ paid for you, there is nothing that anybody can do for you as you would have sealed your faith and your destination will be sure, at that time Jesus will only weep but will not be able to save you. God bless you all. |

AntiChristian: For humans earthly existence is a big deal, but God has something better. Like Paul said "to live is Christ, but to die is gain". The saints and apostles knew this, however because we are flesh, there always will be the desire to tarry here a little longer. As it concerns Morris Cerullo, he has fulfilled his days and has gone to be with the Lord; he has no desire to come back. Asking him to come back can be likened to desiring a student that has graduated from secondary school and now in Higher studies to return to that level of study. People cry when they graduate because they will miss friends and associates that they have been with for years, but everyone understands that it is a good thing to graduate at the appropriate time yet they will still cry because the it is human to do so. PS: God does not feel bad when people die, because whether we live or die, we are with him, there is no difference, we just move from one level to another, God is not fighting to keep us here. It is our emotions and limited knowledge of the big picture that makes us sad and like every parent you do certain things for your kids not because it is necessary but because you want to stop them from crying (there are things that kids would cry for that the parent will never provide because they know it is not in the best interest of the child). The only death that breaks the heart of God is the death of an unbeliever. When an unbeliever dies he will be eternally separated from God. However, eternal separation from God is not a choice that God can make for you, it is a choice that every individual must make for themselves and there is not much that anyone can do about that. So you can see that your eternal destiny is in your hand and your choice to make |

These words have no foundation; they are empty words that bear no meaning. The leaders of Nation have no iota of good will towards the citizens. This is the bitter truth. |
