OsunOriginal: Following the explosive interview in which Professor Wole Soyinka called LP/Obi and its supporters "Gbaju e", I deem it necessary to explain the meaning of this phrase to the non-Yoruba speakers who might not know the meaning, its weight, and imports of it for Obi and his supporters.
"Gbaju e" is used in Yoruba language to describe fraudsters. The use of the phrase became popular during the raise of "419" and scammers in the country. When we call a person "Gbaju e", nobody wants to have anything to do with you. It is an indelible social stigma that nobody wants.
Calling Obi/LP "Gbaju e", therefore, is a serious issue as it robs Obi/LP of credibility now and in future. It puts a toga of dishonesty on the person of Obi and those supporting him. "Gbaju e" are those who don't care how they get anything including hoodwinking others. They just want to get it... This is what fraudsters, 419, scammers, etc, do. For a presidential candidate to be tagged a "Gbaju e" (i.e. a fraudster), it speaks volume.
And this label is coming from Professor Wole Soyinka. I, therefore, don't know how this won't stick, and how Obi wants to remove this indelible negative mark from his forehead.
The Soyinka that you see today is not the same person that he pretended to be, or portrayed himself as, in the yester-years. The full unraveling of the Soyinka you see today started in the 2015 elections. He is sincerely and unashamedly passionate about the course of the Yoruba race, and there is nothing wrong with that, the only issue is that he masqueraded this parochial identity with his pseudo nationalistic postures and rhetoric; and he did fool everyone until recently when old age started showing the true nature of the man. Do you really think anybody in present day Nigeria takes Soyinka seriously enough to think that Peter Obi is a fraud simply because the latest demagogue in town said so. Soyinka is now categorised by many to be in the same league as MNK, Asari, Reno and Ishaq Akintola. Pray not to see the people you look up to unravel before your own eyes. It is a very surreal and painful thing to experience. I saw through him in 2015 and take his postulations with a pinch of salt.
P.S. Most of renowned men of old have sold their honour for a morsel of porridge.
The brother to the former Ekiti State Governor, Isaac Fayose has called out The Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi to stop Spreading Fake News. He shared this across is Instagram page calling the DSS to get Peter Obi arrested.
I thought this guy supported Peter Obi during the elections. Running for office is a dangerous adventure, it provokes secret enemies to align with you so much so it becomes difficult to differentiate those that wish you well from those that don't. The tough times of your life is a master class facilitated by God to school you on the real identity of your friends, associates and detractors. Do not skip the class and make sure you take notes because you will surely need it. This reminds me of how Oshiomole was profusely grateful to GEJ after his mandate was restored and how he turned against the same GEJ unprovoked. I have learnt a lot from the plotical adventure of GEJ and Peter Obi.
Asari is as terrible as they come. I once saw him as a freedom fighter but just like all evil men pretending to be on the side of light, he has finally unravelled.
Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has applauded President Bola Tinubu, for the suspension of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
Naija News reports that the clergy spoke at the church’s recent programme in a video making the rounds online.
Recall that Emefiele was suspended as the apex bank boss by President Tinubu last week Friday, and was subsequently arrested by operatives of the DSS in Lagos and flown to Abuja in a private jet on Saturday.
Speaking on this, Adefarasin declared that the arrest is the greatest news in recent times, stressing that Emefiele has misguided and misused the wealth of the nation.
According to him, the latest development is a sign that something new is about to happen in Nigeria and urged Christians to be sensitive about the new thing which is about to happen.
If the CBN Governor was a Yoruba man, the story would have been different. I do not support what Emefiele did ooo, but the only reason South Westerners are finding their voices is because the culprit is not their son.
nextdoorpal: You see this drug? Pray you don't use it ever, Pentazocine is extremely addictive, the high feeling it gives is something else n it's ability to calm one down n induce sleep is on another level. Trying to discontinue it results in one becoming very weak, losing zeal to do virtually anything, pespirating badly. All this symptoms abate when you get a shot of it. It's a very crazy addiction that i'm hooked on too, one knows the resultant consequences buh getting off it is very very difficult. My doctor friend told me of a senior registra in a Federal government hospital that was hooked on this drug too, introduced to it by his wife, sad thing is this senior medical doctor, almost a consultant died courtesy this same drug.
I've also had a very good friend's younger brother pass away, it is believed he died after injecting this drug instantly, his arm was totally swollen n rotten from the shoulder down to the fingers n had to be wrapped in bandage 24/7. Please this is a huge cry n plea for help, medical professionals help us, prior to him coming through, believe me he's tried with all his will power n yet it's failed him. I was told o check into rehab in a federal university hospital n d cost of staying for the 3months or least 2months is very high n crazy.
I remember the day I was in physical pain and was rushed to the hospital, my doctor administratered it to me. It was so good, I swore never to go near it again. It calmed my nerves and for lack of a better word I would say it shifted my reality, I lost control of my body, my wife and brother had to hold me on both sides to take me home. When I slept , it was arguably the best sleep I ever had, immediately I woke up I made the decision that I will never to go near it on my own. Anything that can make you feel the way pentazocine can make you feel will eventually become and addiction. I pray for the OP that God will see you through.
This is not the outcome of an investigation, It is someone telling her own side of a multi faceted story. I am not saying the person lied neither am I saying it is the truth.
What I can say is that the church establishment that he spent all of his life working for failed him, but i know the jesus that he served will not leave his soul to rot in hell. He may have done some wrong but this man is not the devil, the man fought his devil's as much as he could (so to speak) and he did a lot of good along the way while he was here. Some GO's did, have done and are doing worse than he has been condemned for. His death is a huge loss to the body of christ, maybe not to the self righteous hypocrites and some church establishment but to a large number of believers, he was a soldier that fought to the end not minding his own flaws. May God rest his soul.
FreeStuffsNG: Hmm. If this story is true then he died in infamy.
That warning that the devil comes to destroy and kill becomes apt .
Do not throw away all you have away just because of bad advisers or momentary joy. We should learn from how Sammie went from grace to disgrace so we can each remain humble and God-fearing.
The scandal and how he was actively and deeply in sin of adultery and alleged incessant abortion of pregnancy of those he impregnated while his wife remained childless yet was leading christian worhip in churches home and abroad is one notoriety and gangsterism I believe he took way too far. If he was not exposed, Sammie would never have stepped down .
I do not know wherw he got that boldness from. I still cringe till date how he could be that bold
If it is the Lord of the old testament, He would have struck him dead!
Kale san wa ju owuro lo(Amin). Adieu Sammie Okposo.
Is this first hand information or based on hear say.
Any Southerner that is supporting Tinubu with his Muslim/Muslim ticket agenda is short sighted and dangerous. We are about to make the mistake that Northern Christians made in 2015 and it is an existential mistake. Many of the Northern Christians that voted GMB in 2015, where are they today. Christians are so naive, what a shame.
bomasek: 1st rule of the thumb, never stay in same compound your landlord lives.
If you are in Lagos, you can drag her to dispute resolution court at Alausa while you begin your hunt for a new apartment. Wish you the best
Some people get mind ooo. I don't pray to have Court case with a neighbour, this is not Europe ooo, dem go use juju finish you, if dem no use juju, dey can take you out at any time because dem go monitor your movement. It is not wise to go to court with a neighbour in this part of the world where security zero and juju come be reality. God abeg oooo.
For a king that is in an opposition state, this statement is in bad taste. Freedom of expression grants him the right to say what he wants, wisdom requires that he keeps it amongst his Council of Chieves. His Palace should be open to all candidates even if he has his preffered candidate. If he wants to undo this blunder, he would need to make similar statements for all the front runners, else he would be seen as signaling that his territory is hostile to other candidates and if any of these candidates emerge, he would need more wisdom than necessary to manage the situation that would arise.
Penguin2: Are the ex heads of state uniting to deliver Jonathan?
As much as Peter Obi is my choice for 2023, it would still gladden my heart to see GEJ return to power.
Why?
So that Tinubu’s karma will be complete.
It will teach every southern politician never to betray one of ours because of selfish quest for power.
In 2011, PDP zoned speakership position to Southwest and zeroed in on Mulikat Akande. Tinubu instructed his ACN boys at the House of Rep to work against her and support Tambuwal instead. They succeeded.
But same Tinubu and his media urchins turned around and started accusing GEJ of marginalization. Marginalization that they engineered.
In 2012, GEJ wanted to remove fuel subsidy, a cankerworm that has continued to plague the national treasury, again Tinubu gathered his urchins to Ojota to protest against that noble decision even though I’m sure he knew better but chose to play politics.
To culminate his betrayal, in 2013, he entered into alliance with a known ethnic bigot and an illiterate, all for his personal gains and selfish ambition.
The result of that alliance is that Nigeria and Nigerians have faced the worst kind of government in human history. Nepotism, killing and maiming of citizens have become order of the day. And welfare of cows has been elevated above everything else.
And you say Tinubu will get the reward for all these?
If Tinubu benefits from all these treachery, I will know there’s no God of Justice and truth up above.
The truth is that the hardworking Igbos will leave you with hearthreak and enviness when they stay with entitlement and rentier seeking people
We can't beg anybody fading to join
Being landlock and oilless and dotness is better than staying with north, and other envious tribes
However for history and posterity it's good the enlighten them on the ancient kingdom of biafra, whom we are before strangers invaded us and divided us
There's a book called Things fall apart, this is the same situation we have
The Niger-Delta is fully in support of the call for Biafra, however, they do not want to be part of Biafra when it is actualized. With or without oil, the Niger Delta would want to be on its own.
The people of the South-South love the people of the South East, they see them as siblings, this was clearly demonstrated by the level of inclusion that the region got under GEJ (I must also mention that GEJ got tremendous support from the South East too). However, the people of SS do not believe that they have to be in same country as the SE to love and support them. SS and SE can work together in harmony as separate entities.
The agitation for a Niger-Delta Republic predates the Biafran struggle. Infact, it was a Biafran that used the Nigerian military to suppress the first move by the Niger-Deltans to leave Nigeria in 1966, only for Biafra to find itself in a position where it saw the need to leave in less than 1 year.
If the Niger-Deltans are saying they don't want to be part of Biafra, it is not out of hate or spite, instead it is out of years of repression and oppression, they don't want further drama. I think their decision should be respected while stakeholders explore other avenue of possible collaboration.
SlayerForever: Why is his name sounding somehow: Ikenwoli. Anyways the next king should come from Ijaw. Itsekhiri can't have it all the time. Ijaw should strongly consider pushing for the stool.
The military and its substandard propaganda. I can count how many times Shekau has been killed, now e don turn to cripple, very soon dem go say e don dumb. Nobody needs these stories just bring insurgency to an end.
The clerics are a a bigger problem than the politicians. Imagine Elijah telling Ahab "You will overcome", ah! these guys are a bunch of Ahitophels and Balams, werey dey disguise.
It should be handled without emotions and in proper context. Physically abusing anyone, whether man or woman is a violation of the rights of the person that has been abused and punishable by law. However, the law must also review the circumstances around the abuse and find out if the rights of the abuser was also violated before the said abuse, and appropriate sanctions should be delivered where necessary. If it the policy of channels TV to take up matters relating to domestic violence for its staff then so be it.
happy200: I'm a very quiet person, and i always approach everyone gently.
I think one of my neighbor's wife has mistaken this approach for romance hence she has taken everything to another length.
Please how do i stop her from frequent knocking at my door, from begging for petty things, from always telling me that her husband is not around e.t.c.
Even if she has not pronounced to me what she wants, but i'm now so uncomfortable with all these but i don't know how to stop her.
These people are more slippery than you can imagine and she is a number steps ahead of you, before you got to this realization, she has done her calculation and plotted her graph. Quietly subtract yourself from the equation without offending her or her husband. She can never be wrong and you will not be innocent if it goes down. There are more than 1 billion single women out there, some even look exactly like her, please leave this one, guys don too suffer for this life.
edoairways: Wasn't this man accused of domestic violence when purchasing intimacy gadget? Didn't he weep profusely and begged the general public because he is a Christian or does Christianity supports polygamy too?
Christianity neither supports nor condemns polygamy.
They are adults. If his earlier wives don't like it they can leave the union.
My only issue with him was when he physically abused another human. That for me was a no no.
There is great wickness in the land. We have a very wicked set of people overseeing the affairs of this country. May God provide us with necessary wisdom to navigate their wiles.
