Amnesty is not what the Niger delta needs, like he said it is a short term solution, truth is I don't think it is a solution at all, Based on my stance on some other threads some will be feeling by now that I detest the man but truth is I don't . The challenge the president has in the Niger delta is a problem of perception and nothing else, there is no ill will towards him what so ever, instead Niger deltans are getting vibes from the presidency that are not too nice, and it puts them in the defensive. The solution to the problem is simple, Mr. President the people in that region do not trust your intentions toward them, all you have to do is to demonstrate your goodwill for them and all of Nigeria. Visit these Creek communities and see their challenges first hand, assure them of your love and concern, assign one of your trusted lieutenants to start executing your goodwill for them while you focus on other national matters. Once in while peep at the progress and continue with plans for the country. Your excellency if you can do this all doubts of your good intent will be eroded, the militants that the people seem to see as freedom fighters will disappear and if any of them is left Niger deltans will help you take care of them for good. What this people need is development, if they were getting the needed attention in terms of development no section of the country will call for resource Control, the present cry for resource control is as a result of lack of confidence in the government and rightfully so because even you sir is aware that this people have not been treated fairly. Tackle the problem of development in this area or been seen as tackling it and militancy in this area will be seen as purely criminal but as long as these people continue to have reasons to be restive, the problem of the Niger delta will be a recurring decimal. |
Pierocash:Now I see why it is said that 'na another man pikin craze dey fit' your statement says it all my brother, see the joy with which you are asserting that the military will indemnify a part of Nigeria, and you proudly and joyfully cited the example of odi, this is a picture of the kind of love that the ruling section has for the Niger delta yet we sing one Nigeria, it is the same love that cause them to murder adakaboro, same love that made them kill sarowiwa, same love that makes the degradation of the Niger delta a non issue to the northern elite, same unity that made them want to pass a law that all of Nigeria is the host community so must share equally yet when there is degradation a few communities bear the brunt. Should we really still be living together as a nation. The animosity is too much and it appears there are no sane elders in this generation. |
shomutuski:Since when did it become an offence to utter provocative statement against the presidency. Precedence has already been set my brother, like the military would say ' take dressing from the left' in this case the Niger delta took dressing from the north and they are perfecting what the north did in the last administration. The office of the president was stripped of all respect now you want the respect back simply because Buhari is the president. Things don't work that way my brother. they told America that our army is useless for GEJ to look bad now America calls them useless and we angry. Truth is the consequences of the manner of propaganda with with this administration came into power is still receiving touch line instruction in Germany. |
abagoro:Did you see list of Jonathan officials as president , it was not in any way skewed in favour of his region compared to other administrations, the only thing he didn't do to please the north was cut his manhood and i am not even sure if he didn't even do that, his mistake was contesting in that election that he won, my brother that was his offence. Nigeria has been polarised since since independence, did you watch the video of the front line northerner that said any position that a northern could not fill they will look for a foreigner to fill it if there is no foreigner then they can consider any other region, feel free to remind me of GEJ comments or things that GEJ did that polarised Nigeria, it was polarisation that led to the civil war,it was the same polarisation that made Awolowo refer to Nigeria as an ordinary geographical expression, it is the polarisation that made it easier for pipes to be laid from the south to kaduna to build a refinery than for roads like the east West Road and other road in the south to be constructed, the same polarisation was the reason truck loads of murdered Nigerian 's was sent to their region long before the GEJ admiration. The polarisation you are referring to was a contraption of the press, yes Nigeria was polarised but Nigeria was polarised because a southerner was the president, I was in the north for sometime and the only word you will hear from the most of the northern youth right from when he took over from yaradua (rip) was Jonathan Danisca, Jonathan na banza and many more this was even before he had the chance to do anything, as far as the north was concerned the GEJ administration was dead on arrival. If we objectively look at Nigeria we will find that the leadership has always been skewed in favour of the north and wrongfully so my brother , this is my take on it. |
If Jonathan had known...............wait a minute, did he not know? I will be surprised if he didn't, he had 6 years to build bridges across all the creeks of the Niger delta, not minding the consequence, he had 6 years to indirectly move the economic capital to the south south, he had six years to raise sustainable billionaires in the south south that can match billionaires from other parts of the country, he had 6 years to empower the Niger delta economically with every bias that he can muster, he had the chance to send serious minded Niger deltans to study abroad and have them come back to develop the region, but he was fooled into believing in one Nigeria, he chose to dine with his enemies at the expense of his over suppressed kinsmen only for him to come to his senses after losing election and some few days to hand over making a panic transfer of the LADOL project to bayelsa, I guess it dawned on him that he had nothing in his home to show for his escapades in the presidency, his lieutenants where a disappointment, else GEJ, would not have lost that election, Generals rely on trusted lieutenants to win wars, unfortunately, the lieutenants that GEJ trusted to win the Nigeria war for him had the capabilities of the finest marines ever, however their performance was less than that of boy scouts, orubebe and his predecessors could have done better with the Niger delta commission, now the chance is gone and they want to cry foul. It is funny also that when the Niger delta is mentioned the ijaw nation comes to mind and that was the mindset with which GEJ operated, he acted like the Niger delta is made up of just the Ijaw nation, which is painful, however the other nationalities still gave 100% support to GEJ despite this misdeeds. One point has to be made abundantly clear, Nigeria has never, is still not and may never be one. Nigeria belongs to the North and it will Continue to be so in the nearest foreseeable future, they are more strategic and they go all out to get what they want, it doesn't matter who or what has to be sacrificed. the south south on the other hand has shown how tactless and classless they are and can be, if tompolo wants a meeting with ex mend General's, why put it in the media for all to see, is this the strategy that the Ijaws plan to deploy if war erupts between them and the rest of Nigeria. They should stop all this noise making and let Nigerians be, they could not protect their son when he became president, because such requires skills that they lack, did you see how long it took the world to label Boko haram a terrorist organisation, did you see how easy it was to mess Jonathan in the international community, did you see how the press was used in the last tenure, do you see how the same press suppressed Buhari's West Germany, 95/5%, and others if it was patience do u know what would have happened by now? The south south still has a lot to learn and learning is something you do in silence. Advice the people of the south south to go work on their political skills and come back in 2019, as for them being badly treated by Buhari, well it is the price they have to pay for their lack of strategy, as far as this administration is concerned buhari can do no wrong no matter how much wrong he does, even if he wipes out your communities he will give very good reasons why it is in the interest of Nigeria to do so. The body language and some times the speech of the presidency shows its deep seated hatred and animosity for the people of the region. Wisdom is what the south south needs at this point, America will gladly help him wipe out the entire south if anything goes wrong. |
The op has been listing to Murphy ijemba |
That a slowpoke decided to spite his party so as to please the opposition does not mean that what he is saying is right. Why did he wait up until now to say this, what is his motive. Truth is this administration will be rejected and spoken against because it is the in - thing to do. I have a feeling that all the policies that the opposition vehemently opposed during the tenure of the out going administration will be re-enacted by the same people that protested against them and it will begin with fuel subsidy removal. If subsidy is removed and the fuel price goes up then Nigerian ' s owe GEJ an apology, but if the subsidy is removed and the price comes down then we will know that GEJ was wrong about how he went about it. |
Did you guys notice that while most states are practically one city state, delta has at least four standard urban cities that can pass for a state capital. |
One chance. |
pomsky:You for just change e name to Federal Government na. Even Dangote no fit do wetin you talk. Footballers work very hard for the money they earn, do you know what it is to run on a football pitch for ninety minutes and you expect him to spend his hard earned money in trying to set up a no - good and ungrateful family members? They are not thinking that he plans on having a family of his and he needs the money to take care of his wife and send his kids to the best schools In the world. As far as I am concerned, family members should work out their own survival, the good book said let him that cannot work not eat. |
Eugenedimgba:Well, since you did not ask, there is no gain telling you. Hope you are cool though. |
Eugenedimgba:Why you like violence like this, what has kwankwaso done that makes you think he should be at the helm of affairs. Now listen to me, no governor, I repeat no governor or administrator that was in government or that is in government has a clue on the way forward for Nigeria. If kwankwaso did we would have seen it, development no dey hide. In fact he had the chance of proving himself in his state given the high number of almajiri kids there. The allocation that governor's get is enough to put their state on an express that leads to paradise. Look at the potentials of his state and compare it with his IGR, then come back and let us have this discussion. The IGR is just one of many on which governors should be judged. |
Chai chai, hmmmmm all this government official that you people are sharing, there is God ooooooooo. |
Nigeria has lived in the foolishness of being the big brother of her enemies, now they know better n one wld wish that they learn but I can bet that they won't. |
adekayo1234: your head dey there....thanksCorrect guy nothing do you...na only better go follow you. |
adekayo1234: This is no news......... It's crystal clear to the blind and audible to the deaf just like the biblical teke teke mene ufarsin"MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" (Dan 5: 25) not "tekel tekel...". Obahiagbon quoted it wrongly. |
First go find out the criteria for giving the golden ball and golden boot award before arguing in public. Golden ball is not for the player with the most goals, that is why there is a golden boot award. |
dear nairalanders, I am done with university and currently I have applied for countless number of jobs, I am tired of applying for jobs so have decided to start up an auto servicing workshop. I have done a number of research on auto repairing workshops during my days in school. I have all the info on how to go about the management of workshops and the associated issues but am finding it difficult putting together a comprehensive list of tools, equipment and materials I need to start and how much they will cost. I will appreciate if I can get help line along these lines and any other that will be useful to me. kind regards Me |
let us start to blame and abuse jonathan 1,2 go......Jonathan must have told the pump attendants to be cheating people, how can Jonathan not make sure every body is brought of well so well that they don't cheat people, my God this man us incompetent, let us take him to Nollywood he should be the new Mr Ibu, how can a president not go round all the filling stations in Nigeria every morning and ensure that pump attendants are not cheating people, No oooooo the national association of fuel buyers must protest we must go on strike. I am sure all the fuel attendants cheating people are the brothers and sisters of Jonathan, foolish fisher man from otueke, these Niger Deltans are our problem in this country they think because the oil is in their land they can do what they like, we have groundnut oil and palm oil, oil is oil. banbangida and abacha were very honest now it is this corrupt jonathan has destroyed the good foundation built by all our past leaders no this man must go. for this offence jonathan must be impeached...............up APC, up progressives up new pdp yeeeeeeeeee hmmmm (clears throat) that's all. |
Jomark: ...Short term memory is your disease or perhaps lack of political history. Didn't our dear Father(Ojukwu) align with NPN? An acclaimed hausa party in second republic? Plz...get your facts straight or buy a bottle of hero and seal your lazy moments instead of gossiping campaign. Didn't Ngige win a senatorial seat in that anti-igbo(as you may say) party? These jobless liars sef...go back and read what I wrote, then come back and have a conversation with me. |
Dangote, Ibeto and other cement merchants at work. |
simpleseyi: He had a great impact on people's lives; he looted the people's treasury; he built many houses using the people's money and employed the masses as gatemen and gardeners. He embezzled the money allocated for building hospitals, so when he fell ill, there was no good local hospital to treat him, so he had to go and die in whiteman's land.Too bad that we have leaders that don't see as far as their graves when they get into positions of power. they always feel they will live for ever. |
If Nigeria will break it will break without the sound of as little as a fire cracker. if Nigeria breaks those down south stands to loose a lot because there are more southern stakes in the north than northern stakes in the south. for them to recognise this and still want out then they must have been harmed beyond measure. it will take very wise statesmen with good intentions for all and sundry from each region to calm frayed nerves and work out a fair future for Nigeria. |
as much as I recognise an agenda to rubbish he Jonathan from many perspectives, he too is not helping himself. |
both have not done Nigeria good in any way are both offspring of perdition. |
Majority of the people on that list put us in the mess we are in today. doesn't make them less notable though but not in a positive light at least. |
How did he impact the life of the people, can we call him a Ghandi, martin luther, mother Theresa or a nelson mandela. if we cant then should he really be celebrated? just a question. |
I will speak on this issue as a neutral observer. You don't cut your nose to spite you face, if Nigeria was a homogeneous nation Ngige would have won any election irrespective of the platform. however because of the historical past of Nigeria, Ngige will not win in the election not because he does not have the good will of the people but rather because he has positioned himself wrongly. if we tell ourselves the truth we will find that the injuries inflicted on Nigeria by the civil war has not been addressed not to talk being healed. aligning therefore with the forces that purportedly inflicted these injuries on your people is not a very wise political move, it may me a more matured way of thinking but not necessarily a wise step. Breaking the festival of the obi is not a plus for ngige either, here he puts himself in the light of a man that enters his father's house with someone that his siblings see as an enemy and is attempting to take his father's matrimonial bed for repair while his mother is sleeping on it. whether his intentions are good or bad it doesn't count he will be resisted that is the situation that Ngige has found himself. any wise eastern politician before aligning with the APC must ensure that the APC shows its good will for the east before any alignment with the party. unfortunately this has been bane of a few respected politicians in the east they have aligned too quickly with the supposed new bride of Nigerian politics. this piece does not aim to credit or discredit any party but to put things in proper perspective and offer advice to politicians and would be politicians in the east that fancy and believe in the APC. |
this is just politics |
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step, whether the intention is wrong or not let the discussion begin somehow. at the risk of sounding partisan and judgemental I think the section that has benefited the most from this forced co existence is attempting to blackmail the rare effort. if Nigerians don't talk Nigeria will never work and if Nigeria does not work then lets all walk in their different directions peacefully. with all due respect to the fair and right thinking people from the section that was earlier referred to. |
No, Nwabueze is upset over something else and it will be revealed soon. There is huge gap between matters of ethnic culture, nativity, value system and that of a constituted democratic process. I dont know about other groups but Yorubas are not concerned about 1914 alone, we are also disatisfied about 1906; we did not consent to either union that we were forced into and want out of it or rearrange it in ways that our interest in it is fulfilling. This SNC situation is a matter of nativity and race. The process should draw a racial map of Nigeria. Each race should convoke within its group and appoint a single voice to speak for it in the national conference. Whether you are 1million in population or 50million; one voice per race. Ethnics should identify with a racial type. Keep NASS out of this because it is a democratic process empowered by constitution of Nigeria and not customary laws of the races. Good thinking. Jigawa is a state, not a race, therefore the utterances of Lamido are inconsequential and ought to be put aside. Tinubu is speaking for APC, which is not a race, therefore his utterances are of no consequence to the mission. We need to listen to Egbe Omo Oodua and Afenifere, Ohanaeze, Arewa Elders Forum and other racial groups. Tinubu, Lamido and NASS should step aside. This issue is above their interest and sphere of responsibility.
|
Reports reaching Dailypost has it that former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Tonye Harry has died. Tonye Harry is a strong ally of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and also a serving member of the Rivers state House of Assembly Information available to Dailypost indicates that the member representing Degema Constituency in the State legislature suffered heart seizure on-board a France bound plane from Algeria. Recall that Harry collapsed at his residence while exercising earlier this week and the Rivers state Commissioner for Health, Dr Sampson Parkar confirmed that he was to be flown abroad for further treatment. http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/10/04/breaking-former-rivers-speaker-dies/ |
