http:///kKFyB5MIqH Barely few days after residents of a town in Ogun state received a letter from suspected armed robbers intimating them of an impending visit, residents of Ronke Street and the environ, in Ijeshatedo area of Lagos State have raised the alarm over a letter purportedly written to them by armed robbers also alerting them (residents) of their intention to raid the area. Copies of the letter were conspicuously pasted on the wall of some of the buildings. In the letter, the robbers said: “We will pay you people a visit soon. Be prepared for us.” Following the development, residents of the area have made arrangements to secure their houses. Most of the residents who expressed fears and shock at the audacity of the suspected men of the underworld, have resorted to engaging the services of vigilance groups, erecting iron doors in their rooms while the faint-hearted have fled their homes altogether. On why they are yet to draw the attention of the police to the purported letter, one of the the residents said: “Nobody knows if they have informants within the police. “If you report to the police and those bad boys get to know, you can imagine what our fate would be when they finally come. And besides, those robbers would wait for the police to get tired of patrolling the area and then strike. It is rather unfortunate.” However, Lagos State police spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide, called on the residents not to panic, as the police would ensure that the bad eggs were flushed out from Ijeshatedo and its environs just as she advised residents to make use of the police hotlines, which are written conspicuously in every police station and public places. |
i have watched in amazement how topics make front page on nairaland, i am not going to mention any topics so the posters don't think i am trying embarrass them. my question is what criteria do topics have to meet in order to make front page on nairaland ? i am beginning to suspect some posters have an "oga at the top" that constantly pushes their topics to front page..... can someone pls help me with the criteria |
russia and china are too wise to partake in any form of confrontation, be it nuclear or non nuclear. what we see happening is a game of chess been played by the world super powers in a battle for supremacy at the expense of the under developed and developing countries (i know some will argue that china is a developing country), russia and china will encourage the likes of syria, north korea and co to go against the US so that the US can have multiple wars on different fronts, if they can manipulate that into happening they will just sit back and send arms to the small nations not because they want to help them but because they want to weaken the US,by the time the US comes out of those wars china and russia and other aspiring world powers will be in a far better position that the US both militarily and other wise to become world power, this is a game the US knows too well, they played a different version of it in the disintegration of the soviet union, trust me the US, russia and china will not go into any form of wars, libya should serve as an eye opener, china and russia backed out, the US used the long spoon approach, because they all know the penalty of going into a war. which ever world power that manages to stay out of WW3 will be the world power for a long time to come and they are all trying to be that country, this is my view though, correct me if i am wrong. |

Anywhere we see "wrong doing" we must call it by its real name, and shame the perpetrators... |
it is quite satisfying to see people condemning this barbaric act |
these is part of the many reasons the international community will never take Nigeria seriously, as much as i don’t condone stealing i do not think jungle justice is the way to go about dealing with it, everyday i see lady justitia run naked in the streets of Nigeria with neither clothing’s nor her famed blind fold hacking down who ever she feel is guilty whether with or without proof, it would still be intolerable even if the big thieves are brought to justice this way, but unfortunately only the small thieves like the one you see his picture gets such justice, our people honour big thieves and fry the small ones, after the case of the aluu four i thought all this nonsense will end but it is rather unfortunate that it still continues, lady justitia has no respect when she roams the streets butt naked with sword in hand looking for whom to hack down, justice belongs in the court in all civilised society, it is high time Nigeria became one. |
as much as kudos must go to seun of nairaland for doing a good job within the nigerian context, i dont think it is realistic to compare nairaland and twitter, it is simply insane. |
who took the photograph ? it only suggests that there were more than two people there, nothing to it QED. NEXXXXT |
what do u take us for, this is just an extract from a video, where is the other part of the video |
an anathema would have been my wish for every one that has been saddled with the responsibility of leading Nigeria both directly and indirectly from 1960 to date because they have been looters of the national treasury and their economy with the truth has not helped either. but the good book commands to bless and not curse, so with tears in my eyes and pains in my heart, i look up to heaven and in the same way that Jesus screamed "eli eli" i say : God bless tafawa balewa, God bless nnamdi azikiwe, God bless obafemi awolowo, God bless okotie eboh, God bless kaduna ngowu and co, God bless aguyi ironsi, God bless yakubu gowon, God bless murtala muhammed, God bless dimka, God bless obasanjor, shehu yaradua, God bless T. Danjuma, God bless shagari, God bless buhari and idiagbon, God bless ibb, God bless abiola, God bless shonekon, God bless abacha, God bless abdulsalam, God bless once again olusegun obasonjor, God bless, atiku , God bless yaradua, God bless ebele jonathan........o lord hear the cry of your people. RIP to the dead, wisdom to the living. |
I pray there be no reprisal attacks any where, it is the poor that will still pay the bitter price, neither Jonathan, buhari nor tinubu cares, it is a sorry state because there is no one available to champion the course of the simple Nigerian, if the easterners or any other group in Nigeria wants to make a statement they should shut down activities in their region for days presenting an intellectual case if they have any before the international community, if still the international community does not listen to them, then they should resist any form of government from Nigeria non violently, I stress the word non violently , as this was the only mistake ojukwu made, it is time for us to take our destinies in our hands, Jesus conquered the world by non violence and he remains the most influential character in the history of the world, the church took over Rome by non violence, Ghandi took power from the brits by non violence, martin Luther king junior secured the right of blacks by non violence, nelson mandela secured his place in history by non violence, ojukwu would have been mentioned if he despite being a military man pursued his course in a non violent way. if I have the ears of Nigerians that have been oppressed this will be my gospel to them. |
odehaj: Sure!May God almighty continue to guide and protect you&ur family from any harm.God did not hate those that were killed today either that's why we have soldiers as a people! As for me,Gej&the idiootic buhari&elrufai are NOT options. No apology to anyone either.well said |
Wsdm: I have beeing saying it that JONATHAN will scheme for a bomblast to divert the public from his many woes. October 1st bomblast for national sympathy and Madalla catholic church bomblast for the removal of fuel subsidy. When the tempo become very hot for him ahead of 2015 election, we should expect more bomblast in religious places. Rest in peace to all the innocent blood used to settle any kind of scores. May God Almighty punish whoever is in charge of this nonsense.he doesn't see the need to bomb mosques too I guess ? |
freegaza: There are more muslims in that bus than christians...we are have common enemies...we can only defeat them when we are unitedare you saying this to douse likely religious tensions or u are stating a fact ? |
before now most people were beginning to feel pity for mr shem and were wishing this goes away soon, but with this statement from his oga at the top, if it is true, I see another wild fire brewing. at least I no longer feel bad for laughing so hard also I expect "my oga at the top" flip flops, school bags, wrist bands and every branded stuff that can be branded. |
I really wish that it will make front page. the break down is impeccable. |
to understand where Nigerian politics is coming from and where it may be going to, you got to watch this https://www.nairaland.com/1227817/video-change-life-perspective-nigeria |

WHIZBRO: Why will they not reject it, when it's not a bill to increase constituency allowance. Both ACN, PDP,CPC and all the P's and C's are e-diotsgbam |
i am simply amazed what politicians have done to how we think, instead of arguing that this govt has tried and that government has not tried the best thing to do will be to make a list of all you expected of this government before its inception, then look around carefully and start ticking the expectations that the govt has met, ignore the silly propaganda of the incumbent and the opposition, if by the end of the day you find that they have met your expectation as an individual vote them in again, after all one good term deserves another, if they dont, with your vote try to kick them out, let us stop screaming buhari, yaradua, gej, abiola instead let us scream good road, security, electricity and all the good things that we want, by so doing politicians will be forced to align with our needs and the culture of individualism in our politics will die down, but if we keep screaming the names of politicians, they start feeling like super stars and feel that they deserve to drive in air conditioned cars (our senator from all the political parties) while the people that pay their salaries work, walk and live in squalor, lets have a mind change instead |
we always trust people instead of institutions, so many people here rely on the imagined 'moral' character and strength of one man to save the day and that is where we always miss it, lets take buhari for example, he was governor of the north eastern state in the government of murtala mohammed,in 1976 he was then appointed minister of petroleum and natural resources under OBJ, in 1977 he became head of the NNPC,in 1983 he staged a coup that took out shagari and became head of state and commander in chief of the armed forces of nigeria not to mention his appointment in the ever famous abacha administration( so much for a saint), if in all this key capacities he did not and couldnt change nigeria, even through the barrel of a gun, what makes anyone feel he will be able to do it democratically, there are many issues to raise about the 'sainthood' of buhari and simply put i feel a lot of image laundry has taken place in the past couple of years as regard buhari, the case of tinubu does not even need my mention, because it is a story we are familiar with, how then can one imagine that an alliance of this men will make nigerians happy if they come to power. on the other hand GEJ is nothing to write home about, infact i dont want to get into his story, the long and short of all this is that politically nigerians are stuck between the devil and the blue sea, between the incumbent and the opposition nigerians would first have to decide who the devil is and who the blue sea is and then they can now choose if to dine with the devil or take a dive in the blue sea hoping that they will be rescued before they drown or maybe mami-water will take them in. |
now at least everyone will know that pep is a good coach. |
