I can almost picture the spirit behind the laws,it makes complete sense to a effect a higher standard of decency in lagos and in extension nigeria on another hand I feel the punishment far out ways some of the offences which will make it ineffective in a short while, some of the offences are not worth more than a six months jail term, and the fines should range from 5000 to 20,000 naira otherwise I feel it is a good law |
Kobojunkie: Sigh!!It is people like this that the 21st century does not need,I think I have an idea where you are from,a place where personalities are attacked instead of issues,am not gonna join words with you in a show of shame instead of wits,if you want a debate fine but just remember to leave members of my family out of it,I asked very simple questions to which I expected any sane being to counter with reason and facts not insults. About renouncing nigeria,I do not know if you know or understood what the world suffered both in human and material resources just because a section of the country decided to opt out of an unfavourable union. You also said "all of Nigeria reaped the benefits of the crops grown back then in the north" that my friend is very far from the truth as history shows that before the civil war the regions survived on what they produced any student of history can take me up on that. Again you said " Stop asking daft questions . . the people don't come out to decide if they want to or not. Most all of the countries in the world never had that chance" am sorry but I must ask again if the people don't come out to decided then you should use this forum to clear us on who does,I think I will find that very educating, well am not surprised as most people in government think along thesame line with you but then I will point a few examples to one of which is northen and sourthen sudan, the former yegoslavia, the defunct USSR to mention but a few,the only place where People were forcefully matched and merged as countries is africa and this was done to ease colonisation once again I stand to be corrected. You also said " Nigeri existed almost a century before oil was discovered. There are so many countries out there with no drop of oil in their bothers, yet they are still a country" I assume that by "nigeri" you mean nigeria, well my friend let me correct you there hundred years aga there was no nigeria what we had was no nigeria, what we had were empires that qualify in todays context as independent nations, given the friction we have in nigeria today it will not be far fetched to say these empire still exist in the hearts of the people, those country out there existing without a drop of oil decided to be a country you are yet to show me the point in history when the old empires sat and called them selves NIGERIA,you must know that the first step in nation building starts with the legitimacy of the nation in the heart of the citizens You said "if you cannot read, ask others to interpret it for you. Again, nothing belongs to Government as all of it belongs to the Nigerian people. so when you claim you vandalize that which belongs to Government, you are actually vandalizing that which belongs to the Nigerian people".(I find this and many others very insulting) my simple answer to this is that deep in the heart of the people "nigeria" does not exist because it lacks legitimacy,a foremost nigerian once said " Nigeria is a mere geographical expression". Lastly you said "No one ethnic group is clamouring for one Nigeria" I will at the point beg SEUN to put what you said to vote, what ever the house decided will be my stand and I will forever hold my peace on this matter, see my friend I got no beef for you but I hate it when facts gets twisted. |
Kobojunkie: Please stop posting like someone with a stick stuck in his medulla!Just like the groundnut pyramid and cocoa exports belonged to the nigerian people and was used for the provision of infrastructure for the niger delta shey?,where in history did the people of nigeria choose to be nigerians, the only grounds on which you can make this claim of one nigeria is after a referendum, if there were no oil in the niger delta will there be a one nigeria? Why do you think the idea of a national conference is treasonable to the mind of many elites,as much as I know we are nigerians by confession in our minds we are hausa, yoruba, ibo, ibibio, ijaw etc,am actually surprised a civilian believes In that all resources belong to the government shit, there is just one ethnic group clamouring for one nigeria,we know who they are, and why they do. |
I guess christians and church buildings are the government that ruled this country for more than half its age with massive lootings, coups and counter coups, religious wars and bigotry and all what not,why cant people be sincere in investigation and analysis of issues, what has the bombing of innocent men, women and children worshipping in church got to do with poverty and underdevelopment, it will be the height of irresponsibility to cite poverty as the root cause of the boko haram insurgence, are there no poor people in the south, east and west,if any body should be bombing what, it should be the southern christians bombing mosques because of the level of pain, environmental degradation, poverty and backwardness a mostly northern and muslim government has brought to them, but no they didn't because the northern government also impoorverished the north, Gen. Abacha killed sarowiwa I wonder how many mosques and hausa's the ogoni's bombed and murdered in cold blood, the leader of boko haram that was killed that is been used as part of the reason for the senseless and inhumane killing was ordered by not just a northerner but also a devout muslim,so if the two of the reasons being tendered as reasons for the boko haram insurgency has no link what so ever with Christians and innocent civilians why are they been targeted, they say they don't want western education how many universities have they bombed or do churches now look like university lecture halls,if they want to show their seriousness they have A.B.U and other great institutions to make their point known, boko haram goes beyond poverty, western education and other reasons being tendered,if you ask me I will say it looks more like a religious cleansing than anything else this is just my opinion and i will be glad to be corrected with facts, about mend and boko haram, there is no basis for comparing,MEND did not target innocent civilians be them from the north or south, muslim or christian, church nor mosque. the whites they kidnapped worked hand in hand with the previous administrations that oppressed and degraded both them and their environment, comparing them is like comparing the struggle against apathied with the movement of osama for arab liberation ,I am not holding brief for them though,I will end with this question if a northern muslim were to be the president of nigeria today do you think boko haram wld have gone this far? Also is Jonathan the cause of poverty in the north. And Pls am not a fan of oga jona or his administration |
slimming: so 3.9 GPA is a celebration in that university? when lots of people are making 4.5+ in Nigeria without international recognition.. 3.9 out of 4.0,and 4.5 out of what? |
Africa's no1 now americas mr irrelivant, come on guys this is bad publicity for africa,he had better come up with something and when I say something I mean something international to drive home his point and he shld do it fast...and I wonder who told him that it is impossible to rival the world from africa, this move suggests that most african artists have the mind set that success in africa is poo n no success till you do same in america and europe, now ask yourselves how many europeans give a bleep about what africans think of their idea of music, this is simply defeatist. |
The government and indeed the world including some so called christain leaders maintains silence and some times hypocritic utterances despite the atrocities being perpetrated by these boko jihadists. Their elites instigate and indeed wait for their sons to attack and maim innocent worshippers right in their worship centres and homes so they can afterwards condemn the actions, the bible I know warns against vengeance and it is on this assurance that these misguided cowards carry out their evil deeds.I cannot say it will be today, tomorrow or even the day after but I know for sure that one day enough will be enough and all this nonsense will be settled once and for all and on that day I pray who ever will pass judgement will do so bearing in mind the longsuffering of the church. No offence but if the elites of islam were truly against these boko boys seeing the damages they have done a fatua would have been declared on them this is how I see it correct me if I am wrong. |
LMAO,here was I thinking of someone to match this guy using wits in a negative way, not knowing he was copying all the while, this will be a relief to so many, atleast now they have something on him,no wonder he said he was not el rufai's mental match,if this man really wants to he can nail sanusi with this, but then the Nigerian judiciary has a lot of magician judges, let's just keep fingers and see how this one goes |
Take it or leave it jonathan has not done well in the past one year and I can say now that he is officially power drunk,he has been acting like a despot for quite a while now, this was the same man that came cap in hand with stories of his shoeless beginnings asking for votes, nigerians loved him sentimentally and voted him but with each passing day he is loosing those votes and confidence placed on him, make no mistakes about it nigerians are in tears north, east, west and south. you should go to the getto and see what is happening people dying of ailments that should not ordinarily kill because of poor health infrastructure while elected officials fly their wives and families abroad to treat headaches and deliver babies so as to become citizens of a better country,it has almost become an insult to be called a nigerian ,nigerians are not asking for too much all they ask for is improved standard of living,we cannot live in a society where politicians are so rich that they shelve water and cook their meals and bath with the most expensive wines while others can hardly afford spittle . He the president should remember abacha was there before him where is he now, stella was wife of obj where is she now, yaradua was also there where is he now, ghadafi was the strong man of lybia where is he now,now that he has the chance he should amend his ways and pursue justice, rawlings of ghana does not have two heads neither does nelson mandala,I heard the refinery that nigeria has made so much drama about waiting for foriegn investors to build for them ghana has done it in two yrs without any drama, God if you can hear me pls come to our aid we really need you and also the ones that claim to be your ordained pastors are not helping matters pls send us a martin luther king jr..Amen |
Any government that wants to make head way knows that taking cognisance of the sentiments of its people is key to what ever it will achieve,if a government in an attempt to please its people in more than one occasion ends up enraging them then it won't be far fetched to say such government is far from the people it is leading,GEJ is a PHD holder for God's sake he should be more skillful in his dealings with people,it is said that the fact that you can does not mean that you should,GEJ should have consulted with the stake holders of unilag so as to get a clue of what the peoples reaction would be,I think it is either jonathan has no advisers or he has and the advisers want to see him fail. Then as regard those that see nothing wrong with the move I guess if you wake up one morning to find River niger has been renamed as river IBB you will have no problem with that after all the river content did not change,or he names uniben as tony anenih university you will also say its good (even though the school content will be same I wonder what the oba's reaction will be) the truth remains being president does not give him the right to do what we likes without due consultation with stake holders.and can I state here that the purpose of this move was to secure cheap yoruba political point, obviously it didn't go as planed.one advice for mr president,if you want to be respected by nigerians then you must go do your home work and study julius ceaser, martin luther king jr or better still travel to south africa and have a heart felt tete a tete with nelson mandela,he has alot to tell you. |
donpeluchi(m): 11:32am It can be argued that boko haram is fighing for justice in view of their leader who was murdered by the nigerian police. But violence is never a good option to fight for justice. what has the killing of someone the then MUSLIM president saw as an islamic radical got to do with bombing of churches and targeting innocent christians, |
As I read the thread I burst in uncontrollable laughter,I believe this report is just a tip of the ice berg, more than 60% of nigerian politicians are sociopaths, the most painful part is that these guys will go scot-free...In nigeria the so called good men have decided to do nothing,n this is the price we pay. |
If truth be told then we will know that both OBJ and Tinubu if given head of the yoruba race will suffocate them with injustice and corruption, these men no doubt are mighty men but I fear that they have made themselves deadly weapons in the hands of the devil,if only the yoruba's had a tinubu or an obj with the mindset and character traits of a femi falana or a wole soyinka the youruba race would have been the toast of nigeria,I say all these with an outsiders view and I stand to be corrected |
Sometimes I wonder what people base their analysis on. Is OLIVER TWIST not a product of MO hits, abi na kanye produce am? We wait till he releases a single or an album that has no don jazzy link, then we can start appreciating d'banj's creativity and talent, right now he hasn't proven anything yet, just my opinion though |
No messiah in the current political space right now as if that is not enough the future is being robbed of its potential gandys, martin luther king jrs and the mandelas by death in bad roads, ritual plane crashes, blood money, poisoned water, ill health, boko haram, armed robbery, poor or in some cases no education at all,I tell you the nigerian has an uphill task ahead of him because his father for lack of foresight has almost eroded every trace of a good future. To answer your question one wld say if there is life there hope if there still remains a nigeria tomorrow then anything can happen, the odds are great and does not favour nigeria,my answer is an unreasonable Yes,why I say yes I cannot explain |
"GAR3TH: Every time a gay thread opens you see people flood it with bible quotes, praising the lord etc. But isn't it the same Bible that also condemns polygamy, divorce, monogamy, lifelong celibacy, adultery, Gluttony etc because they are also sin. So How many Nairalanders are FAT, then in that case you are going to hell for gluttony." Mr GAR3TH I do not mean to offend but let's set some things straight, the bible never condemned polygamy, monogamy(am shocked),life long celibacy(jesus n paul were celibate),then for divorce it gave a condition for it. since we are gradually shifting the goal post on sexual morality I guess after the homosexual war is won paedophiles will start demands for their rights and then Beastials will follow and then all other absurdities, homosexuality? come on people it doesn't sound right, does not look right and doesn't feel right, let's take a cue from nature, even animals have not degraded to that level, remember HIV was first discovered among gay people, only God knows how that came about, the disadvantages of homosexuality far outweighs any benefits it has if there are any.I must also say am not in support violence toward homosexuals . |
It is a good thing that the british government is doing, but we in nigeria can do much more, the number of unemployed youths in nigeria far out numbers napoleon's army,if they all take to the streets and decide not to leave till corrupt politicians and government officials are brought to book, believe you me change will come faster than expected, |
Prayer(religion) has become a tool in the hands of government to perpetrate its corruption and keep the people shackled, the same religious ministers that asks people to pray do not know what life in the streets look like as they drive in the latest SUV's and other automobiles and have their kids schooling abroad just like the politicians, martin luther king jr never worked with prayers alone,he moved with the people in the streets against an oppressive and discriminating government,if our religious ministers will mobilise us like luther did then prayers will begin to make sense, right now it is my opinion that religious ministers in nigeria are a sell out and are responsible for majority of society's ills,we don't need prayers alone we need to occupy the streets untill someone listens |
I want us to cast our minds back to the self acclaimed pastor that gave birth to 8 babies within the space of one year, she claimed it was supernatural, that "God" told her it will be so and that she should not disclose where the babies where born and on her own she held back the identity of the father, many believed her until Mo got into the matter, the lady maintained her claims and seemed confident about it,she even suggested a dna test for her and her babies, shockingly the result showed she had no genetic ties with any of the babies, she is currently being investigated by relevant authorities,I have said all this to point to the fact that when men want to perpetrate a grand scam they often do so by bringing in the supernatural, I challenge any investigative journalist to pick up this case and you will be shocked to find it a complete hoax, stories like this don't come up in advanced countries because mischief makers know their cons will the revealed. |
maclatunji: Men and women are not equal, but there has to be equity. A woman will always have some men she is ahead of in many matters. So, it is not a one-size-fits-all thing. However, if you are talking about Husband and wife, the husband is definitely the leader. You hit the nail on the head with that "if you are talking about Husband and wife, the husband is definitely the leader",we must all realise males and females where made from different materials to perform different functions at home and in society. in regards to the family unit the father is the head of the home, this does not make the wife his slave but partner. No man has the right to demand "wifely" respect from a woman that is not his wife. For the men I advise you to treat the ladies with regards and the women should do all to avoid hurting the ego of men the end result of doing otherwise leaves society with shameful scares. (I stand to be corrected in all these) |
Nigerians need to stop believing their own hype, The GIANT OF AFRICA anyone?? People told me here it was not important at all if Obama came to Nigeria 1st or not...as a matter of fact I was told he was unimportant and his visit to Nigeria or approval of Nigeria is not needed as he is a no body!! Welcome to international politics where powers r shared at diner tables n handshakes n winks and photo-ups can stranslate into billions of dollars in business and prestige on the world stage! There is a fatal flaw in the way Nigerians do not understand how the world works....but insists they rule the world lol! You don't think that us here in America and the Europeans r going to hand over the presidency of the world bank to a Nigerian in the current economic crisis we r in ![]() Dream on people! Anyway, not right now n not this time! Let her perform miracles in Nigeria and since we r watching...we will see the transformation she brings there and if she is as good as they say she is, then Nigeria needs her more than the rest of the world considering how desperate things r there in Nigeria right now!
On point |
"@NigeriaNewsdesk: The ill-fated police chopper that crashed in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday morning was brand new, the Ag. IGP, MD Abubakar, said Thursday". |
