falopey: while i wouldnt have loved to argue further with you. I would like to chip in with this. every scripture is a template to address things that were, are and still to come. So dont tell me that Rm 14:5 doesnt apply to christmas. in other words, you can as well saidv that the word of God is for only the Israelite since God addressed them and their situations directly and no mention of other races in many ways. in fact i would like you to read the whole of Rm 14 and learn more.
1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God
Rom 14:22 Do you have a conviction? Keep it to yourself before God. The man who does not condemn himself by what he approves is blessed. (that is when you do it unto the glory of God without committing sins doing it) But if you thing otherwise, it is a sin to you if you do it. So if you do not celebrate christmas, its all well and good. No sin in that and no sin in celebrating it for people who do it in holiness and righteousness.
If you can quote the old testament for me to support you argument. Of course you should be ready to abide by all the statutes of God as commanded in the old testament and celebrate all the celebrations ordained there. Jesus did not build a house and call it church.
Yes funnerals are not biblical. but you are not going to bury your aged like a chicken because thats the way they do funneral in the bible. no church service. no entertainment of the guests. Not talking of those funneral frivolities you were talking about. If you at any time in your live do any of these, that means you are an hypocrite. Non of those happened in the bible.
If Jesus had not been invited by that guy to the marriage ceremony at canal in galile, people like you would have said that marriage ceremony is a sin just like you kicked against naming ceremony. what is the difference? god gives me a new wife, i celebrate: and god gives me a new child from the wedding, i celebrate naming him. but you are saying it is wrong, abi?
behold old things are passed away, and become new. If you say that Christmas has a pagan origin. Well it is all hear say. We were not there. As some unscrupulous people are kicking against the true biography of Jesus bringing some fabble instead, so that origin of christmas is arguable. A christian king in ekiti state stopped idolatory and replace it with revival and prayer. People of your kind in the future will discourage people tha that revival and prayer has pagan origin and that they should not attend. what is wong in replacing evil with good?
tell me that i am comitting sin celebrating new year. Greatest evangelist of our time celebrated these festivals we are talknig aout and i beleive that God does not speak to you more than them. reinhard bonnke, ayodele babalola, Kartyrn Khumay, Akindayomi of Redeem, Obadare, Abiara, Founder of Apostolic Faith, etc. you are not holier than these people and many more
too much hypocrisy for you there. Leave christmas alone for people celebrating it while you stay clear of celebrating it since it is against your conscience. If you do celebrate against your conscience, to you and to you alone it is a sin. wow, brother God bless you. I love this. |

biblical faith does not come naturally, for “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Cor. 2:14) (see also John 3:3). “By faith we understand …” (Hebrews 11:3). By faith, or a trusting spiritual insight, we are receptive to invisible spiritual data, like grace and the resurrection, and we evaluate them with our minds. And when we neglect faith, our spiritual insight is likewise darkened (Romans 1:18-25 and on). |

Wrong, Christmas is not about Jesus. Jesus wasnt born on december 25th
Actually, Santa Claus is more relevant to xmas than Jesus.
Santa Claus actually has pagan origins like xmas celebrations A man who was born February 29 only celebrate his birthday every 4years (leap years) will it be wrong to chose another day to celebrate his birthday ? Just because early church leaders were influence by the majorities pagan doesent mean christians of nowadays celebrate Christmas the pagan way. practice may have originated under certain circumstances but, eventually, have lost that significance either in whole, or at least significantly. There is Bible precedent for dealing with this principle.Consider the practice of eating meat that had been sacrificed to idols previously a very lively issue in the first century. Here is the background: A meat sacrifice would be made to an idol. After a certain portion was consumed in sacrificial flames (or by the priests), the balance would be sold as common food in the market. The controversy, therefore , arose: “Is this meat contaminated simply because it had some connection with an idol?” Paul’s answer is, “No” ( 1 Cor. 8:1-13). If one has “knowledge,” i.e., that an idol is “nothing,” and his conscience is not offended, he may eat of that meat. It is not contaminated merely by its former association. |

Okay, that your personal choice. May church leaders establish special days to celebrate the great acts of salvation? How much freedom do Christians have in the new covenant, either individually? Christianity Etc › Re: Is God Man-made? Did Man Create The Idea Of God? by malvisguy212: 11:35pm On Dec 16, 2015 |
https://www.nairaland.com/2575407/invented-god-image-mankind
Atheists commonly claim that humans
invented God to satisfy some of his fear
of death, therefore, wishing God into
existence. According to the theory, man
realized his limitations and fears and
projected an image of God to calm these
fears. In short, God is what man wishes
to be - a kind of super-man. This model
matches the gods of the pagan religions
quite well, and possibly explains the
origins of these religions. For example, in
nearly all pagan religions, the gods look
like the people - Ethiopian gods were
dark-skinned whereas Greek gods tended
to be white. So, aren't all gods just
inventions of the people who claim
them?
In contrast to the pagan gods, the God of
Judaism and Christianity does not look
like the an old man with white beards .
In fact, He is described as being invisible
to us and not some image that humans
can imagine>>>>
Hebrews 11:27
...Him who is unseen.
Acts 17:29
"Being then the children of God, we
ought not to think that the Divine
Nature is like gold or silver or stone,
an image formed by the art and
thought of man."
Accordingly, we can only see Him in His
glory when we die and are transformed
into spiritual beings. The Hebrews were
commanded NOT to make an image of
their God. The New Testament
specifically says that God does not look
like a man>>>>
Leviticus 26:1
'You shall NOT make for yourselves
idols, nor shall you set up for
YOURSELVES AND IMAGE or a sacred
pillar, nor shall you place a figured
stone in your land to bow down to it;
for I am the LORD your God.
CHRISTIANITY:
However, if people were to have
invented the God of Christianity, it is
unlikely that it would be the demanding
God of the Bible. The God of the Bible is
described as holy , without sin and
without the ability to commit sin>>>>
Isaiah 5:16
But the LORD of hosts will be exalted
in judgment, And the holy God will
show Himself holy in righteousness.
The holiness of God is described as being
above anything that humans can attain,
such that no human can stand before
Him as holy. Behaving more morally
upright than most other people is not
sufficient to escape the punishment of
the God of the Bible.>>>
Leviticus 11:45
'For I am the LORD, who brought you
up from the land of Egypt, to be
your God; thus you shall be holy for
I AM HOLY.'"
SALVATION.
In nearly all religions,salvation is
attained through human effort. Only in
Christianity does salvation come solely as
a gift from God , it cannot be earned
through human effort. Clearly, in
doctrines such as the nature of God and
the way of salvation, there is very little
common ground between Christianity
and the religions of the world>>>>
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved
through faith; and that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God; not
as a result of works, that no one
should boast.
TRANSCENDENT GOD:
The God of Christianity also differs from
the gods of the world's religions in terms
of His nature and existence. Most of the
religions of the world describe their god
as existing within the universe. In many
cases, these gods even have parents.
Both of these attributes are logically
inconsistent with the reality of our
universe. Only a God who is
transcendent to both space and time, like
the God of the Bible,is logically
possible>>>>
1 Kings 8:27
"But will God indeed dwell on the
earth? Behold, heaven and the
highest heaven CANNOT CONTAIN THEE
how much less this house which I
have built!
CONCLUSION:
It is impossible for the christian God to
be invented because men will not invent
God that set an uphill task on how to
attain Holiness and salvation.
Romans1:22-23
Professing to be wise, they became
fools, and exchanged the glory of
the incorruptible God for an image
in the form of corruptible man and
of birds and four-footed animals
and crawling creatures.
Isaiah 1:13
"Bring your worthless offerings no
longer, Incense is an abomination to
Me. New moon and Sabbath, the
calling of assemblies-- I [God] cannot
endure iniquity and the solemn
assembly. |

tee4light: There is this doctrine of once saved, forever saved reigning in some sects of belief now. This set of believers teach and preach that it is not possible for one to lose his or salvation after he has believed in the work of Christ. They say even if you continue to commit some sins, you will still make heaven because it is your spirit man that has been saved. They even go further to convince others that you don't have to pray for forgiveness of sins; they say Jesus Christ has died for all sins- past, present and future, so no need to pray for any forgiveness as we have all been forgiven even future sins. And so many teachings like that. I don't want to mention names of Preachers and denominations, but I know we are quite familiar with this "GRACE" teachings and doctrines. So believers, what can you say about this? Is there anything like eternal security? Once saved, forever saved? Or can a believer backslide or lose his salvation? Please contribute with correct Bible reference(s). Thanks. 1 Peter 5:8 8 BE ALERT and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. - According to the bible , birthday celebration is found among whom ... Servants of God OR PAGANS ? falopey God bless you. The apostles do not celebrate the birthday of Jesus, but the Heavenly HOST rejoice when the announcement Of Jesus birth is known. Luke 2:8-14 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there appeared with the angel A MULTITUDE OF HEAVENLY HOST PRAISING GOD and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." |

Appleyard: No matter how well we try to make an unbiblical act acceptable, it will never be acceptable. The bible made it clear that ''...all liars shall have their own part in the lake of fire''...REV.21 vs 8, vs 27. The Roman Catholic Church, as part of their creeds and dogmas, maketh a lie, eshrined it as a doctrine, and enforced it on the rest of mankind, as at when Rome was ruling the world. It was a lie that was made to be accepted as truth, but God does not change his standards to suit anyone, or accomodate any practise contrary to His word. God hate lies, and the Roman Catholic Church lied when it said and indoctrinated it's followers and much of the world that, Jesus was born on the 25th of December, when it is not. The bible clearly said that ''shepherds were in the field watching over their flock by night''. You can't be in the field under SNOW watching over flocks in the chilling December. It was a big lie, and, irrespective of whatever it was meant to achieve, justifying the christmas lie, is tantamount to accepting lie as a norm of worship, and therefore, unsinful. But thank God, it can never be. For a lie is a lie. The truth remain truth! Therefore, all those who created this lie, and those that takes pleasure in celebrating this lie, even knowingly, are guilty of the same offence. Romans 1 vs 32.
The only thing Jesus asked us to do in rememberance of him, is the Lord's Super. Luke.22 vs 19, not his birth.
The choice to live the truth or to live the lie, is now yours to make. Thank you for your wonderful contribution. Yes, God hate lies, but the bible did not mention the day Jesus was born, chosen December 25 to celebrate Jesus does not mean "its a lie" it is just choice. Christians Lerders who first celebrate Christmas never compromise it with paganism, They may simply have wanted to celebrate the birth of Jesus. However, modern scholars generally agree that the date they chose for Christmas was influenced by a pagan celebration on or about that same date honoring the “Invincible Sun.” How much freedom do Christians have in the new covenant, either individually or as a church, to express their faith, worship and thanks toward Christ in forms not found in the Bible? May church leaders establish special days to celebrate the great acts of salvation? “Once pagan, always pagan” is the way some people reason. Malachi 4:2 2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolics like well-fed calves. Christians who keep Christmas are not pagans. They do not worship nor regard pagan gods. They honor Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is true that certain customs attached to December 25 are practiced in a pagan spirit by many people. But a truly Christian observance of Christmas does not include drunkenness, fornication, carousing or any other conduct unworthy of saints. After all the entrance of Jesus into the world cause a GREAT JOY OF CELEBRATION IN HEAVEN in Luke 1:46–2:38. |
