I really weep for you my brother. the bible say in ecclesiastics 12:1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"-- is it when life become meaningless, that's when you will remembered God ? Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Support Genocide? by malvisguy212: 10:47am On May 21, 2017 |
liepzig: Hello brethren....i got converted to christianity not too long ago. I was given a bible by one of my christian friend and sooner than later i started reading it. Starting from the old testament,i have been reading the book of first Samuel and i came across a certain passage where God commanded Saul to wipe out the Amelikites-men,women,children and animals because the Amelikites attacked the Isrealites at the time when Moses was leading them to the promised land. Please note that the attack on the Isrealites happened in the time Moses...which is approximately 800 years before Saul's generation. My question is why did God want to wipe out the Amelikites for the sins of their ancestors?...is it fair for a man to suffer for the sin of his forefathers? God commanded Saul to kill all Amelikites....men-old or young,children,women...even the pregnant ones and their unborn babies.....everybody should be slaughtered according to God.....my brethren this is first degree genocide! Remember the Amelikites had nothing to do with attacking the isrealites....it was their ancestors that did it. The Amelikites may not know God or could be worshipping idols but wiping their entire population...men,women,children,unborn babies even animals....is it fair? Is it not genocide?
Why would God support genocide?
Why would God seek to wipe out an entire population because of the sin of the ancestors?
If God allows genocide....then christianity is no better than Islam. I'm just a new born christian who started reading bible lately and there are so many things i dont understand.....i'm very curious Brethren, bible scholars, clerics I need answers... The mods should shoud push this to front page please. are you sure you read it ? or you get this information from the website ? the amalakites attack the Israelites In the desert, when the Israelites were weary and without food, during the time of judges they attack the Israelites again, God gave them 200 years to repent, because from the time in Deuteronomy down to the time in 1 kings was 200 years. but still their evils wax stronger. A basic knowledge of Canaanite culture reveals its inherent moral wickedness. The Canaanites were a brutal, aggressive people who engaged in bestiality, incest, and even child sacrifice. Deviant sexual acts were the norm. The Canaanites’ sin was so repellent that God said, “The land vomited out its inhabitants” (Leviticus 18:25 ). Even so, the destruction was directed more at the Canaanite religion (Deuteronomy 7:3–5 , 12:2-3 ) than at the Canaanite people per se. The judgment was not ethnically motivated. Individual Canaanites, like Rahab in Jericho, could still find that mercy follows repentance (Joshua 2 ). God's desire is that the wicked turn from their sin rather than die (Ezekiel 18:31-32 , 33:11 ). |

HungerBAD: Exactly my problem with people like this OP.
I am a Christian and i have serious problems with this write up. So you are bringing Biblical Verses to Justify the suffering of people on Earth?are you joking? The Pope and other Church leaders like T.D Jakes, Adeboye, Oyedepo and co that live like Kings, the suffering does not extend to them too?or you have a Bible verse to justify that they should be exempted from the suffering too?
You Biblical Scholars should let us practice Christianity in Peace, and not try to cause confusion with this kind of annoying write ups. I suspect that those who use suffering as a "proof" of God's non-existence would not want to have their free choice taken away from them, but that's exactly what God would have to do if He were to enforce His will on the earth. For if God were to intervene in the matter of suffering, would He not also intervene in the matter of sin? If He did, He would have to be a dictator. Then how would we react? We would not want that, and according to the Bible, God doesn't want it either. He wants us to obey Him because we want to, not because we have to. And in order to accomplish this, He must allow two things to happen. First, in order to grant us free choice, He must provide us with graphic examples of the consequences of the wrong choice. Secondly,He must allow injustices and sufferings; otherwise he'd provide sinful mankind with every blessing and benefit without restriction. If everything in this life was fair, good and happy, what need would there be to seek a better life? Why would we seek a Deliverer, if there was nothing to be delivered from? Suffering is not something that ought to turn people away from God, but draw them to Him. |

zed7: Doesn't answer the questions one bit. How can prehistoric people build a tower to get to heaven? Building manually for that matter. Is heaven up? Most importantly, God scattered their plans by causing confusion in their midst because He didn't want them to achieve their aim. Read verse 6 "And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." It seems God actually said they could achieve their aim, so He scattered them. How possible is it to build a tower to heaven? Prehistoric men for that matter. Is heaven up? How come we don't see it when we fly in the plane. Lalasticlala, please push this to the front page. Let's hear from gurus. is heaven were God is ? secondly, God did not get angry because they wanted to build a tower , He get angry because they were neglecting His commandments of multiplying the earth. if I may ask, what is heaven ? |

when God created man, He command man to be fruitful and multiply the earth. alright, instead of multiplying the earth, the people are planing to settled down in one place :
Genesis 11 read; "And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, LEST WE BE SCATTERED ABROAD UPON THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builde"
clearly written, they were not plaining to multiply the earth, Instead the were plaining to settle down In one place. and also, the people say, " let us make name for ourselves" is this not pride and boastfulness ? so God bring them on there knell. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Need To Rest On The 7th Day? by malvisguy212: 11:13pm On May 20, 2017 |
the seven day of rest does not mean God get tired or weary, No, the seven day of rest is God's sabbath day of rest, and the book of Hebrew encourage us to labour to enter God day of rest:
For He has thus said somewhere concerning the seventh day, "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works"... Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall through following the same example of disobedience. ( Hebrews 4:4-11 )
this verse indicate that God's day of rest is the time when Christ will come and Seth up His mellianian reign on earth, and it encouraged us to labour and enter. |

paying debt, no doubt it a good thing, but this will not take you to heaven, that is why Jesus say even the pagan can do more than this. paying debt and doing good deed is just the evidence of a true faith. salvation is something ONLY God can do and God has already done it. if you are to die today, and God ask you this question " why will I allow you into my holy heaven? " if the answer you gave to this question point to your own good work, it mean you are not standing on a solid ground, you are not trusting on the righteousness of God. but if your answer point to the saving work of God, it mean you are standing on a solid ground. the bible say " look UNTO Me and be ye save, all the end of the world for I am God and their is none like me" thank you happy Friday to you all. |
