If not because he was caught, they would still be suspecting Fulani herders as the culprit. How many Fulani has the Amotekun caught now kidnapping in Yoruba land.
No tribe has the monopoly of crime, our problem in this country is that we don't punish crime and criminality the way it should.
Our politicians today have proven to be more callous than this kidnapers or bandits or whatever you may call them |

Politics › Re: About The Name ‘Yoruba’. By Prof. Stephen Akintoye. by mamsong9(m): 6:49pm On Mar 07, 2020 |
absoluteSuccess: I think I have a thread about this title some years back. Origin of the name Yoruba. I have a booklet of the same title printed. I'm presently out of print of the same title.
The best I can say is that the present Yoruba are at sea when it comes to the semantic accomplishments of the founding fathers. We may never be able to decode all their works.
We know how the word "Yoruba" came to the literary circle through the Timbuktu scholar Ahmed Baba about the treatise on slavery. But the question is what the very word means.
I have my conclusion that has not changed. It's only fact that will stand for all times. Every assumption will fail in the course of time no matter how well thought out.
I have to give it to the ancient scholars again because all we have as "akanlo ede" as Yoruba comes from the encoded semantics of the same ancient scribes.
Yoruba as a word comprises of three syllables Yo/ru/ba. This is an ancient sentence. The meaning is already given. But to proof it's indigenous, we can harness it's integers.
1. Oruba: there's a place by this name at Ota. All we need to do is find out the tradition built around such a quarter. It's time to let go of foolishness of holding to popular place only.
2. Yaba: here's another inflection pointing to a transitive form of Yarba. Again, this betrayed how unaware our experts are at relativity of terms in Yoruba lexicon and it's corrupt forms.
For instance, the word karamasiki is one word that seems well seated in our lexicon but may be a corruption of "charismatic". Chances are that neighbours have corrupt version of Yaba.
3.Yoruba and Yarba or Yoruba are all words of the same meaning cited at different places and time. Albeit the root can still be found in Yaba for Yoruba/Yarba and Yeobu for Yoba.
Ultimately, we have the integers. But it's left for us to understand how to deduce meaning from what we have. "Yeobu" is the beautiful figurine from Bini, representing the Queen Mother.
History is replete with the memoirs of great many divine feminine, from Isis to the black Madonna, Astoreth, Holy Mary to mention but few. The Yoruba had her fair share.
We have mounds, Tell waiting to be excavated in our lexicon, but we lack professionals who are cut for the unique needs of the Yoruba. Time will tell.
To have entertained such scholastic subject earlier shows ability. The same word has traveled through the circuit of scholars and back here where it all started.
However, how did it fare in the peer reviewed journals that hypnotists here held as "holy grail" of Yoruba history?? What does the renown Ifa priests made of it?
Just one word. You people should ask Ifa now, sebi you believe Ifa know everything now. Why are you wasting your time? |

Christianity Etc › Re: Should Christians Really Celebrate Christmas? by mamsong9(m): 11:05pm On Dec 12, 2015 |
FreshGreen: SHOULD CHRISTIANS REALLY CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS? Christmas period is a time of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ everywhere in the world, but should we really celebrate Christmas at all?" I think this short article can be of little help, let's see:
OPPOSITIONS There two major reasons people oppose celebrating Christmas as Christians. The first reason is that Christmas originated from pagan worship, and the second reason is that Jesus was not really born on December 25th.
(i) Origin: Should we celebrate what originated from pagan worship? Well, the point is that it was actually the holiday of Saturnalia that the pagans celebrated then, not Christmas. Christmas was a replacement of Saturnalia festival in Christendom; Christmas solely celebrates Christ Jesus, and it has no link or connection with idol festival as far as Christmas is concerned today. To oppose Christmas because the similar or same day was formally celebrated by pagans is wrong. If you oppose Christmas, then you will oppose Easter because both have similar history; if you oppose both Christmas and Easter, then you will need to oppose going to church on Sunday, because Sunday was a formal holiday for the god of Sun, and if you oppose worshiping on Sunday, then you must oppose calling days like Sunday, Monday, Saturday, etc. Because they all have idolatry origin. If you still believe the names are attached to idols, like Sunday for Sun god, and Monday for Moon god, and you don't worship God on Sunday, and you mention the idolatry names? Then you still agree with it.
Those who oppose celebrating Christmas because it has idolatry origin may not be surprised that their surnames may have idolatry origin or affiliation. Many Christians today whose surnames are linked to idolatry, even though they are aware, yet they have no conviction to change their idolatry linked surnames because they, at the present, have nothing to do with idolatry. The same thing is applicable with Christmas. even if Christmas is linked with any form of idolatry origin, but as long its celebrating today has nothing to do with any idolatry, then is worth celebrating.
Christmas was not celebrated for the first 300 years of early church, until the catholic, so also church auditorium or Christian conference was not built by early Christians for 300 years until the catholic. Building church auditorium can also be traced to the pagan gods. Does that means building church auditorium is evil? No, but it must be moderate, not multimillion or magnificent as these modern Christianity and even those who claim holiness.
The fact that Christmas was traced to pagan festival does not means it is wrong to celebrate Christmas. Today we celebrate Christ at Christmas and Him alone.
(ii) Day of Birth: Jesus might not be born on December 25th, and it is not necessary for Christmas day. People can choose any day to celebrate Jesus' day of birth, because He owns all days; only we, the humans, can be tied to a day we were born for birthday.
MUST WE CELEBRATE? Do we have to celebrate, sing and give gifts to mark the birth of Jesus? The answer is YES? Luke 2:13, "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Angels in heaven celebrated the birth of Jesus, so it is not wrong for Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus, as long as Jesus alone is mentioned and no connection to any idol or selfish purpose. It is not wrong to celebrate Christmas as long Christ is the center of the celebration and everything you do glorifies His name; it is wrong for people who celebrate self or sinful indulgences during Christmas. Christians can celebrate Christ at Christmas and share with people.
God will not judge you for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th, He will only judge you if Jesus Christ is not celebrated in your life and if you celebrate Christmas in sinful manner.
THE BAD NEWS The bad thing about Christmas is that it's not everyday; the joyful feeling, the celebration and sharing do not last, only for few days, and the worse is the Christmas day, it goes faster and ends. I wish it can always stay longer with such wonderful feeling. The worst part of it is that if only during Christmas you experience the joy of the birth of Jesus, then you are a miserable person.
THE GOOD NEWS Christmas celebration doesn't last, but the good news is that when you accept Jesus into your life as your Lord, you will always experience more than the joy of Christmas. If you have not experienced the joy of Salvation since you have been a Christian, then you are unrecognized by Jesus, you need genuine salvation to have the unlimited joy.
If you have lost your joy of Salvation, you need to get it restored. Repentance, that is to realize and ready to forsake your sins, and accepting Jesus as your Lord, are the only means to have the unspeakable joy of Jesus! When you become saved, you begin life that pleases Jesus, not your self or Satan, you walk away from any form of sin; that is when the birth of Jesus will bring joy and justification. But if you realize Jesus as Savior of the world and remain in your sins, it will only bring judgment.
We can care for Christmas by celebrating Christ, but more than that, we should be celebrated by Christ through genuine salvation and living in holiness and righteousness, so that we can celebrate with Christ forever in heaven!
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

If human life is less important than a veil then what's the point of religion? The answer to that is; its no longer religion its blind personality cult of Mohammed (Allah is Mohammed's alter ego) indirectly its Mohammed you all worship.
Jesus is greater than Mohammed You can ban your own veil anyway, because we all know that Christianity is man made. That is what your Christians leaders want, that is why they created Boko Haram. |

[size=14pt] Is wearing Hijab against Christianity or against western value?
But let us observe the following pictures and see:
The funeral of emperor France Joseph from 1848 to 1916, the emperor of Austria, the apostolic king of Hungry, King of Bohemia, King of Croatia, king of Galatia and the grand Duke of Krakow and up till 1866 president of the German Confederation.
The women we see in the funeral trail of the emperor France Joseph are not from Saudi Arabia. They were the princesses of Europe.
Women of the royal families and aristocracy of Europe use to cover their faces in funeral and at weeding.
And we all know haw Mary the mother of Jesus dressed during her life time.
If Hijab is a symbol of backwardness, oppression, terrorism etc.
What you are telling us is that, Jesus your god came to this world to liberate people yet he could not liberate his mother from oppression, backwardness etc.
How would you feel when see the picture of Mary with bikini?

mannobi: Ugo Chikieze wrote :
THE BAYELSA ELECTION, A LESSON FOR THE IGBOS: I have been following events in the Bayelsa state since Saturday and I think it's high time we Igbos woke up and learn our lessons. What is happening in Bayelsa state shows that the Bayelsans have moved on. They are no longer tied to the apron of PDP and GEJ. That state is one of the smallest states in the country and it's the home state of the former president (GEJ), yet the result of the election held since Saturday have not been announced officially till now. I thought the PDP would have swept off the whole votes just like they did during the presidential election, but to my amazement the APC is also gathering considerable votes there. I know PDP may eventually emerge winner in the election, but my point is that we Igbos should wake up and stop crying more than the bereaved cos even the bereaved have moved on. Other regions have moved on and have even started integrating themselves into this PMB administration to ensure they remain relevant and not schemed out if things, while some of my people are still holding themselves down and throwing hate speeches here and there. Other region are already preparing for 2019, some are already gearing up for 2023, while my people have failed to arise and shake off GEJ and his failed administration. By 2019 now, we will begin to run helter-skelter and start last minute preparation and when we loose again, we will say we are hated by others but we forget that we are the ones holding ourselves down now that others are already preparing ahead. The Igbos have enjoyed more "juicy" appointments in the past 16 years of this democratic dispensation, yet none of the appointees or elected officials performed exceptional well for us to present him/her as presidential candidate. But look at the likes of Fashola, Fayemi, Kwakwanso, El Rufai, etc they are all potential presidential candidates going forward cos their achievements speak for them. Tell me the achievements of. Orji Uzor Kalu, T.A Orji, Sam Egwu, Chimaroke Nnamani, Mbadinuju, etc.... none of them made a mark in their various states, yet we leave them and keep pointing fingers to other regions and saying they are our problem. I advise we wake up and begin to align ourselves strategically with other region now cos we can never produce a president in this country if we continue like this. While some misguided elements are busy shouting Biafra, and claiming that South south is part of their Biafra, the southsouth have denounced the whole Biafra thing publicly and I understand that just last weekend, Nyesom Wike of River State, named a stadium in River State after Yakubu Gowon. Does that not tell you something ? The golden rule says 'DO UNTO OTHERS WHAT YOU WILL LIKE THEM TO DO UNTO YOU'..... Love begat love, hate begat hate. Don't expect love from others when you give them hatred, don't expect them to vote for your candidate when you keep calling them animals that live in the zoo. "Give and it shall be given unto you" whatever you give to others is what they will give back to you GOOD MEASURES, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKING TOGETHER AND RUNNING OVER. He who has ears let him hear, Wisdom is profitable to direct.... I rest my case... I love this post. |
