PoliticsRe: We Are Not Part Of Oduduwa Republic - Ijaws Reply Adebanjo. by mandarin: 11:11am On Mar 19, 2017
I don't think anyone is laying claim to Izon or Ijaw least the Yoruba. Some Ijaw are in Ondo State but have no land there. Just like Fulani, the Ijaw are migrants in many parts of southern Nigeria and there's no way they can proof the ownership of anywhere in Edo and Ondo state.
The coastal areas from Escravos Warri to Edo and Ondo state do not have any Izonland.
I do not think Yoruba want to claim Ijaw but has been affirming their kinsmen the Itsekiri.
This statement by the Ijaw is deliberate message to Itsekiri and Edo, trying to affirm ownership and I will advise that they perish the idea.

Now on a more pragmatic level, who really need who? Compare what ijaw have to the Yoruba in all ramifications, they are not mates;is it productive landmass good for agriculture, population with good purchasing power, educated population, already organized communities in terms of economic power, what are the ijaw fighting for?
1. Crude oil: The exclusive land area the ijaw can claim is Forcados to Bayelsa and maybe some areas of Kalabari in Rivers. They can make do with their resources and lets see how many decades it take them to be like the Yoruba or Igbo. Other ethnic groups have oil too, by the time your Nigeria is fully divided(I don't advocate for such) you will know that Yoruba and Igbo has oil than you can think. This is also applicable to natural gas.
2.Warri: Former oil capital of Nigeria, wealthy oil potentials and location of a refinery and proposed gas FTZ, the ijaw can't claim the one at Porthacourt and so looking at warri will to them be a good starting point. Now, if the Itsekiri should stand with Yoruba it will be zero probability of getting what they want. The Gelegele at Edo is slipping away already and consolidating through Toru-Ibe is a dead dream, the ijaw are led largely by youths who just want economic empowerment but with little grasp of history and diplomacy.

What options do they really have if they want an Ijaw country?
Live in peace with their neighbors, hold to those undisputed areas and trade away those disputed areas for strong economic and cultural ties because they can't win the Yoruba or the Edo in eventuality. They need to consolidate on their areas in Rivers and Beayelsa else they may be fighting battles against all their big neighbors and they can't win.
So, what would the Yoruba want from ijaw apart from oil, don't think there's anything and its not looking like Oduduwa will want to include the Ijaw even though historically the ijaw claim ife and, when the value of oil becomes less and less a driving force, the ijaw will see the light.
happy Sunday to all.
My take is let the Izon live in peace with all their neighbors, negotiate a confederation with any big side and you will win from both sides.

The Acting President is doing one thing right; governance and that's why he is already endeared to all.
Choosing a deputy from the south is not good for fairness. My position is for him to chose someone like Nuhu Ribadu or Ibrahim Magu as his deputy and balance that with populist candidates such as Abubakar Dangiwa Umar as minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, keep Audu Ogbeh as adviser etc

...we are from regionalism to federalism, the critics to return to regionalism is politically motivated by the politicians, it's not in the interest of the poor mases, what our local goernment is doing now? who critisize them? Did our state government performed? why didn't blame them? we all know the pacentage of allocation each shared! why blame the center?
The very word "Allocation" is what is killing growth, creativity and our general developments.
Nigeria cannot grow economically when funds are allocated like its a cake that must be shared and since the oil keeps flowing and money keeps coming nobody want to look inward as to how to generate income through dependable economic policy.
That's why we have hundreds of local governments that are not adding values yet getting allocations and just sharing!
If say Ekiti for example is an autonomous province in western region and has to pay 10,000 teachers' salaries, that stare governor will be cracking his brain if there's no allocation instead of engaging in showmanship!
If say western region is an autonomous region and chose to evolve a secondary level of governance say provinces with governor as the local levels,it can contrast with Eastern region or Alaigbo which can have autonomous communities with mayors and , Eastern Delta region with oil money to make every household a local government.
The only thing that can help the current structure to be fairer is if fiscal federalism and resource control at 60:40 or 50:50 while states control local governments.
However, as a way of leveraging on regional resources, regional arrangement is better.

Your assertion is not wholly true. The call for restructuring predate the current political trend. I said 14 states/ region because the possibility of merger is well thought through. For instance , I foresee southern kaduna groups in the same region or state with groups from Plateau, Gbagyi and even southern Bauchi and Gombe.
PoliticsRe: What Restructure Nigeria Is Really About by mandarin: 12:46pm On Mar 02, 2017
14 autonomous regions/states and FCT. All resources under new regions/ states with 30% federal tax. Federal control of FCT, foreign affairs, defense, federal security apparatuses, maritime security while it can also control federal funding to states/ regions.

Regions / states must emerge to protect minorities especially in the North and Niger Delta based on both ethnicity and religion.
BusinessRe: Has Osinbajo Tamed The Dollar? by mandarin: 10:50am On Mar 02, 2017
The op raised pertinent question until he made the erroneous advice of hoarding the dollar. I hope you understand that the black market value of the dollar is due largely to speculations and so, based on the actual market demands, the value may be below 400naira. There are certain economic indices that do not work in Nigeria due to lack of transparency and endemic corruptions, like the price of petrol was anticipated to fall but just as oil price rose, behold so was the exchange rate to eliminate the gains in the market.
some cleansing need to be done in Nigeria because some hawks are too powerful. Government can focus on PMI through systematic forex and investments tones, the truth is, many have abandoned their factories to become forex traders where they hammer quick. Another thing is intensification of SMEs and sourcing local raw materials etc
If well managed, government should do a media war on speculators and keep critical interventions in place, the dollar shouldn't be more than 120% of the official rate at the parallel market.
PoliticsRe: Anambra State Vs Ekiti State: Which State Is More Successful by mandarin: 5:17pm On Feb 21, 2017
There is no state in Nigeria that has more Ph.D holders and Professors than Ekiti State. You can point at your usual website that chrun out fake data to corroborate any lie you will like telling. I know a single town that has over 200 professors and some over a hundred so, sentiments apart I think Ondo and Ogun are those states that can rub shoulders.
You may wish to know that the resident population of Ekiti is small compare to that of Anambra or Imo but in terms of economic power, Anambra is better in GDP but about poverty index especially food poor Ekiti has one of the lowest poverty in Nigeria because its a state where people are not really very very wealthy but are not very very poor either.
PoliticsRe: Most Populated States In Nigeria 2017(estimates) by mandarin: 1:25pm On Feb 19, 2017
Having traveled across some of these states in the last one year and some even most recently I think these are just brandies figures from hell! Where are the millions? Haha!
I've never believed in the population figure of Nigeria because honestly, its full of unverifiable figures. As at the year I was at katsina state cross crossing the state I didn't see where over 4million people stated by NPC were. Apart from Lagos which resident population(excluding those that just come to trade or come to work from nearby Ogun State) may be around 13-15 million why Ogun state should be over 6million considering the huge number of residents that actually do business in Lagos state.

I was still in kano un the last three weeks, taken that the north has more rural dwellers but its hard to believe and in fact, that of Kaduna, Bauchi Jigawa and katsina are completely false!!!!
I think if true population of Nigeria is to be determined by accurate census or registration, the top five will most likely look like this:
1. Lagos
2. Ogun
3. Kano
4. Oyo
5. FCT
Like I've said it in other forums, I still find it hard to believe that resident population of Kano can be greater than that of Oyo state but I can admit a huge population do come to buy and sell. The one I know is growing so fast is the FCT and alot of people and businesses have relocated to the FCT from the interior of northern Nigeria so you can expect Niger and Nasarawa aroud the FCT to grow.

The telecoms active voice calls in each state we must admit is an indication of high business activities which can form critical part in understanding the population and to a large extent determine residential population for non business calls but someone can argue, what about poverty index, the ownership of cell phones can help more, school enrollment, birth registrations and other positive statistics not rolling out rogue figures!
PoliticsRe: FG To Include Religion, Ethnicity In 2018 Census by mandarin: 9:26am On Feb 17, 2017
I support the deployment of high level technology with biometric and photos of all individuals registered.
I feel local government and state of origin and place of residence should be included.
Nothing is wrong in including religion and ethnicity but if they are too sensitive issues they can be left out. However, housing and settlement patterns, levels of education, disability, marital status, profession should be there.
The system of storage should be sky based and automatic followed by issuance of registration ID.
If we do these sincerely believe me, the world will be shocked that our population will be around 140-150million while the local government of origin will be enough to tell all major stories.
PoliticsRe: Independent Biafra Will Not Be A Viable Country - Stratfor Report by mandarin: 5:45pm On Feb 05, 2017
The difference between Africans and Caucasians is that the latter do plan, exercise their foresights and prepare themselves unlike Africans that think of now, want it now and hardly bother about posterity.

You cannot wave with a back of hand that this intelligent report is crap. Even though I believe Biafra can work, I pray it does soon alongside other countries from the Nigeria of today, we must not lose the sight of possible challenges.
Lets look at those factors mentioned, finance for instance, how many wealthy people will within the first ten years want to risk moving all their businesses there and for a country that, if parts of the Niger Delta like Porthacourt isn't there, will be faced with serious cash crunch because after the north, until maybe recently, many businesses don't pay tax and cultural change will be serious.
Resources also is another factor and the fact that land use will be a great challenge considering the huge population.

That these people said all these is to show those challenges that can come but it isn't a foreclosure of the success of Biafra. If Biafra is an all igbo country then, they are business minded and will survive maybe more outside their country and coming to develop real estates there. The limitations I see are governance problem, economic restructuring, lack of access to the Ocean and food security. I wish Biafra the best if it ever be

PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Moody’s Predicts 2.5% GDP Growth In 2017, 4% In 2018 by mandarin: 8:42am On Jan 19, 2017
Well its good we can start the year with some optimism. Even the so called 7% GDP growth during GEJ was largely buoyed by rise in crude oil price to over $70 a barrel. Growth at the time was largely in the oil sector and promising in the agricultural sector but, government revenues in non oil sector and the development of alternative findings was abysmal.
Government expenditures can raise economic growth and when oil dipped to below $30 a barrel, government spending went south and since sources of income remain largely unchanged, recession set in.
I feel the slow response and undiplomatic manner of approach to the economic downturn st the onset of the PMBadministration pulled more pressure on the economy.
At this time, I feel government need to work on domestic sources of triggering economic recovery aside anticipating oil price increase and management of Niger Delta crises by lowering CRR to like 20% and cut interest rate to like 10%. The TSA approach should also allow banks to have a 10% holding of funds to support SME at not more than 10% rate so as to generate more economic activities.
EducationRe: List Of Top 25 Universities In Africa In 2017 Ranked By Times Higher Education by mandarin: 2:35pm On Jan 15, 2017
The truth is that university ratings come with its own politics. You must understand that western countries have a way of perpetrating themselves and their institutions so that they can continue to serve as sources of incomes to maintaining their infrastructure and sustain their economic dominance.
There's no doubt that two things rank high when rating universities which are researches and quality of teachers adding infrastructures and curriculum.
Nigeria is lacking and lagging behind but something must strike you, Nigerian aren't. I feel rating universities in Africa without naming at least five from Nigeria is rather questionable at least based on success stories of their products. If Nigeria economy is the largest in Africa and Nigeria graduates supports this economy, work in corporations that hold the economy and succeed elsewhere, then you can't throw the baby with the dirty water.
The major problem is getting good rating organizations for African institutions for instance LBS is probably rated number 50 in the world but many lecturers there also work for Unilag, the truth is nobody gonna blow your horns.
In brand building in developing economies, how many exclusively foreign staffed organizations have dominated the landscape? In multinational companies, it is in Nigeria you can be sure of staffing 85% without fail in Africa and you get your business going.

Nigeria however need to spend more on education, quality education, good infrastructures, modern curriculum, research budgets that show seriousness and focused research based learning.
In Africa, in some fields I will surely rate UI, OAU, Unilag, LBS, Convenants, Babcock, ABUAD bearing in mind how alumni are performing. I just want to mention a few.
PoliticsRe: Change Of RCCG Leadership - A Follow-up by mandarin: 5:18pm On Jan 09, 2017
I like your write up sir and must commend you on those pertinent questions which I hope to just mention a few things:
1. Let's face the fact, some religious organizations are run like private businesses but that does not preclude others running on the vision given to them by God
2. Pastors or religious leaders who hand over their ministires/concern to their families are answerable to God and their members and it is not the duty of anyone outside of the mission to determine who leads them.
3. I cannot remember if there are churches or religious organizations that receive government funding in Nigeria and churches are run through VOLUNTARY contribution of members based on their physical or spiritual convictions. So, if government adjudged them to be self funding and not for profit, why trying to determine who head what
4. It is true that churches are involved in profit generating activities like running schools, publishing books etc, are those not incorporated separately? if they are, is government not earning tax incomes from such? If not, churches can be compelled to incorporate such so that they pay taxes except for, if money generated from such are actually plunged back into the church in absolute terms.
5. Sir, it is not the responsibility of the government to fix terms for church leaders, and you cannot separate spiritual leadership without alluding to well being and administrations, wetin consin govt in that?
6. Government has the right to demand for corporate governance for profit making organizations like schools and the like, but for government to decide who a church leader cannot be is tantamont to putting its fingers in the eyeball of the almighty.
7. I think what the code should have read is that the church BOT should determine the tenure of their leaders and not government saying 20years or 10 years fixing terms of purpose, i bet you are biting more than you can shew
8. I feel what has just happened will have a wide reaching implications for the political class as the giants in us are waking up to see that we occupy the political space too and kick out this crop of leaders and its going to be very costly to the political class , mark my word

Thank you bro, i will want to hear from you or anyone with interest.
PoliticsRe: Regionalism: The Way Out For Nigeria? Let us discuss by mandarin: 7:44pm On Jan 08, 2017
I've always been an advocate of regionalism in which the current geopolitical zones will form the foundation. I advocate for ten regions which will function as federating autonomous states and a unicamera parliament in Abuja led by a Prime Minister elected by Parliamentarians.
With the exception of Southern Kaduna, all states in Northwest can form a region and evolve internal structures for themselves, fix their headquarter wherever and engage in their own form of developmental programs.

The Northeast can also involve into a state with head quater wherever and emerge as their own economic force.

The Northcentral can emerge as two to cover all the minorities, the western and eastern areas of the north central including southern kaduna.

The southwest and come Yoruba kinsmen in Kogi, kwara and Akoko Edo, itsekiri can evolve as one region/state too.

The southeast states and igbo kinsmen willing in the south south can evolve into a region just like the Bendel region of Edo and Delta while the rest of Niger Delta can also be a region.

I believe this is one of the critical keys to political and socioeconomic growth of Nigeria.

HealthRe: Please Who Knows Any Herbal Cure For Diabetes by mandarin: 8:56am On Jan 06, 2017
I do. If its an acute case let the person starts with bitter leave juice a glass measure every morning and then steadily reduced to every other day till you can see reduction in the sugar level. The patient should also reduce his starchy foods and take more proteins and boiled unripe plantain, vegetables etc. This should suffice for treatment as the sugar level should drop by 50% in a week.
However, if you are not satisfied, there is another herbal stuffs you will use in cooking soup but that is a bit expensive like =N15k minus delivery and it will take weeks to come by. You just let the patient start with a glass of bitter leave juice first thing in the morning and thank God for it.

You disgust me with your lies which will not win you any medal at the end. Of the three state you mentioned from North east, only taraba has more Christian to Muslim.Your analysis show how little you no about the the religion demography of middle belt, saying Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa is 50:50 is just as stupid as you get. They are six state in middle belt or North Central if you like excluding Abuja and only two are predominantly Christians, I.e plataeu and benue, while Niger, Kogi, kwara and Nasarawa majorly Muslims. And for you to say they're not as much Muslim in the south as it's in the the north is another big fat lie. How do you explaine state like Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Lagos. You either need to read more, travel beyond your state or be less emotional towards religion.
@sisoko please enlighten me on the Muslim dominated middle belt , I want to know how much of Nigeria you know. To cannot say there are not Muslims than Christians in any southwest states, its like picking baptismal record for Catholics, many have seen walks away. Even in Kwara state Yoruba areas it will be debatable when you pull population together.
So you mean Muslims dominate Taraba and are overwhelming in Nasarawa? Then there's Kogi, only Ebira has more Muslims than Christians and the Igala are almost divided into two while Kogi Yoruba are Christians more. Please enlighten me
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Could Teach The West A Few Things - Bloomberg by mandarin: 10:38am On Jan 04, 2017
uzolexis:
I am actually surprised pple are doubting this statistic cause it has been available since God knows when, Muslims are more than Christians in Nigeria.
Just think about it, the North is over about 80% muslim and remember they marry numerous wives and give birth to a lot of children (most of them not all) and then the south is about 30-40% muslim as well, so yes, muslims are more than christians in Nigeria.
Let me demystify your erroneous belief. The North isn't 80% Muslim. The only region in Nigeria that can boast of over 75% indigenous Muslim population is the Northwest, comprising Kano, katsina, sokoto, zamfara, kano, Jigawa, kebbi and kaduna. Southern kaduna is Christian dominated and atheists. There are also indigenous Christians in Kebbi and other states. Admittedly, that is the Muslim dominated part of Nigeria, you can give it 90% to 10%.

The Northeast, although, has majority Muslims but high percentage of Christians especially in Southern parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Adamawa and Yobe especially indigenous population. For your information, a whole lots of places where Boko Haram has been very active were Christian areas give rise to suspicion that it may be an approach of decimating Christians in that part of Nigeria. Ascribing percentages here is a bit difficult but in the states of Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Adamawa, indigenous Christians cannot be less than 30% while atheist like 5-10%

The middle Belt states of kwara, kogi, Benue, Taraba, Niger, Plateau, Nararawa are a mix of both religions of which when you pull the population together it may be like 55% Christians to 40% Muslims and 5% atheists.

Of course the southwest of Nigeria is known to all and among the indigenous Yoruba people where you have probably the highest Muslims converts into Christianity in the world, is the melting pot of three religion and the headquarters of pentecostal/ Evangelical Christianity in Africa. Among the Yoruba you can safely assume around 60% Christians, 35%Muslims and 5% exclusively atheists.

The South South and southeast are Christian and atheists dominated with less than 1% Muslims.

When you put these estimates together you can't say Nigeria is muslin dominated.I have transverse this country and can safely say all those population data brandied by NBS and NPC are not empirical, they are just applying growth rate on disputed figures!
Taken that Muslims in the northwest especially give birth to many children, that is not to mean that the population of the north can now be double of the south, its against all natural law of habitat. The man who commented on Lagos committed that error probably pulling his data out of some make belief data in circulation. You can safely say that Nigeria is about 54% Christians today.
PoliticsRe: By NBS Estimates, Nigeria’s Population Now 193.3 Million. Kano State Leads by mandarin: 1:48pm On Dec 30, 2016
Our political arrangement should be made to nullify the effects of population inflation. Regionalism is the way out to the extent of regional fiscal and socioeconomic autonomy that will render all the inflammatory postulations and estimates useless and only feign relevance within the deceitful region.

As someone with some knowledge of different zones in Nigeria, I don't accept Kano being more populous than say Ibadan as city to city comparison. When you combed through the rural areas, of course you can claim Hausas has huge rural populations, may be to an extent but you know how long it will take you to transverse their states before you get to count sizeable number of towns, I mean, how do you just assume such bogus figures?

If Nigeria is serious about its census its a simple thing, use biometrics with registered house address etc. Kano state cannot be more than 6million residents and Lagos state like 15million residents but you may wish to see a state like Ogun having up to 6million
.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Minister Of Environment Amina Mohammed Has No Degree! by mandarin: 8:03am On Dec 14, 2016
An adjunct professor is a part-time professor who is hired on a contractual basis rather than being given tenure and a permanent position. Many universities hire large numbers of adjunct faculty members because they are flexible and cheaper to maintain than traditional full-time faculty members. Just like regular faculty members, adjunct professors must fulfill basic educational requirements before they can teach, and many of them are very well-educated, talented people. The use of adjunct professor positions has grown in many universities in response to decreased funding, which forces these schools to make choices that are sometimes difficult. If the choice is between hiring adjunct professors and closing a program, many schools consider it better to hire adjunct professors

Having seen what is meant to be an adjunct professor, it should suffice that she should be qualified to hold any office in which she can demonstrate her capacity to function effectively.
Columbia University is not yam o and she can't get such a job without meeting all the necessary requisites of such an office.
Stop hating guys and you know what, as much as many praise Okonjo Iweala here, I strongly believe she did badly during GEJ's tenure with all her certificates, let her go to classrooms and prove her worth there or JP Morgan.
PoliticsRe: Opinion: Kogi State Is Not Supposed To Be Part Of The North by mandarin: 10:56am On Dec 09, 2016
Kogi has many ethnic groups: The Igala is the largest ethnic group also extending to northern part of Edo and Anambra state. They speak a variant of language closely related and similar to Yoruba with about 50% of the same or closely similar words used. The Igala are both Christians and Muslims. Followed by the Ebira who are in variant of tribes, this is one ethnic group that is within its own rank diverse and occupy spaces up to FCT , Niger and Nasarawa.Considering the geographical spread of the group, those to the west of the Niger River are divided between pro west(a lot of them live and bear Yoruba names) and the pro north.Elsewhere, they are pro north.
The Yoruba tribes of Okun, Oworoh , Yagba are the third largest ethnic group, they are largely pro west and have been agitating for reunion with their kinsmen in southwest.
I feel Kogi is an enigma and largely torn between these three major groups. I feel the Yoruba areas be carved out and either merged with Yoruba state elsewhere maybe with Yoruba areas of Kwara or Ondo or Ekiti state.
I've always opined a regional arrangement as the solution to the political malaise of the current politics imbroglio facing the country.
Kogi can become a wealthy state with petroleum deposits shared with Anambra, humongous factories and what can make a functional state. But I keep wondering why so much poverty!
