I like this , quite impressed with such developments. |
Yujin:oh k then you owe the world the body of proof for your argument. You see, in Nigeria, people argue how much their people are without any data to back it up. Having read the analysis on this thread, I believe all can read this including the CIA that assumptions on population composition in Nigeria has been and is still wrong based on unverified flawed and deliberately or otherwise data on which Nigeria population has erroneously been based. If it suit anyone to ascribe any large disproportionate population to her ethnic group based on mere perception or wishful thinking, so be it. Contrary to many lies, arguments on population has been debunked severally. Igbo are traders so they travel, yes I concur but they are not the only traders in Nigeria, other groups are many in the North too as traders, artisans etc. To you, everyone not Hausa/Fulani in the North must be Igbo, big lie! One of the key reasons Igbo are sometimes targets of hostilities is lack of integration. They do integrate in Europe and North America but because of this sense of superiority or inferiority the majority hardly do integrate within their communities in Nigeria except some in the Southwest especially second and third generations. So my friend, you see am a student of history, strategy and analytics, I like to learn and accept that i have my limitations. If i can inform you, there are more Yoruba in the North than Igbo, in fact there are town founded by Yoruba traders before independent or amalgamation! I don't think its right for any Igbo man to think the mind of everyone elsewhere is rigged against them haba! this was the thought of Ben Carson for his brethren when he advised African American to jettison such mentality and they will excel but alas, they labelled him! The Igbo are probably the best capitalist in Nigeria and on average more successful economically and I often laugh at the idea that Nigeria is not doing well because she hasn't produced an Igbo president! amazing! The truth is that the Nigeria economy has suffered from series of policies and just like other groups, the Igbo contributed in no small measures as well. What Nigeria need is a generation shift to patriotic Nigerians that are young and proactive that can bring strategic policy shift and not playing victim mentality or ingrained sense of ethnic bigotry. Thank you. |
pazienza:Let me tell you what I know. There are several generations of Yoruba in the North in millions but many of them live directly within the Hausa communities. The recent generations together with the igbo live in secluded settlements. Because many Yoruba around Ogbomoso and kwara are enormous , a lot of them are muslims and culturally integrate. I've met Yoruba who are third generations in Katsina state. I'm not estimating for gainsaying but knowledge, there are more Yoruba in the north than igbo but in spread, may be more igbo because of trading. Whether Wunkari or Yola Yoruba people are there. Remember the crises that happened in Jo's and a lot of people complained that igbo were at the receiving end of losses, by the time the data was released, Yoruba people had more losses! Thinking that igbo would be the next minority in every state is a mirage! Yes, igbo and Yoruba are migrants but most postulated info on migration aren't correct. |
Quite impressed by a couple of factual contributions here. Let me chip in something, which of Yoruba or Igbo is the largest in the North, people should stop the misconception of Igbo being more. Also of importance is the fact that Hausa would lose majority should Hausa Fulani tag be splitted, that's the truth. That would probably make Yoruba the largest single ethnic group in Nigeria and Igbo comes second.. |
If these "jews" could be this influential s you put up there, then there must be something special about them. Either they are smarter than all others or they enjoy some supernatural supports. Since they've always featured in all history then whatever you do may not solve your problem with them it may be another stage that wont successfully upstage them. Why don't you think this way, God is with them. |
ODB2:Kindly continue with your story, you haven't concluded pla |
Well you try to sound politically correct but I dont think defining states in terms of ethnic group is what you should look at in this case. Africans major resource and source of inheritance in history is land and that's why whether in south African, Namibia or Zimbabwe, land is a big issue, life depends on land because alongside water, it's the means of survival. Fulani and Ijaw are two largest migrant ethnic groups in Nigeria and so it will be quite understandable for resentments of other ethnic groups towards them the moment they want to claim land ownership. Ijaw are fishermen and so settle by the sea sides and dates of their first arrivals are known in Ondo state, it will therefore be difficult for them to lay claims to land, it is deemed where they occupy was bequeathed on them by the local rulers of the more indigenous people the ilaje/ikale. Remember all these have become necessary because of population explosion and mineral resources under the ground else problems would be limited. If I can recall, I think it was when GEJ became president that the ijaw started claiming a revised version of population and proposal to annex oil rich coastal region into one ijaw state, if true, that was quite insensitive! This has therefore created an atmosphere of suspicion which was how it started in Delta state when suddenly communities began to make money from oil companies, ijaw became suddenly important and other groups were like wait o, these people were migrants how come? However I still believe having new tribal groups lay claim to Yoruba isn't bad, in fact it should be the conscious effort of the Yoruba people; Apoi Yoruba, Arogbo Yoruba etc should be a welcomed development |
Nothing is wrong for Ijaw in ondo state to fully acculturate and even be Yoruba if they've been there since 1945 or even long before. What is wrong with the Apoi, they are Yorubanized and it's absolutely okay. Look at Kogi west, many Ebira bear Yoruba names and Yorubanized, to me, nothing is wrong with Ebira Yoruba, Apoi Yoruba, Arogbo Yoruba, Tiv Yoruba. Nothing is wrong with that at all. If someone have up to 10generations even 4th generations, I think they should naturalized. This is one of the signs of modernity and acceptability. I had secondary school classmates from Apoi who bear pure Yoruba names like Kole etc and the other Arogbo who you would only know he was ijaw in name only. I mean, what stops an igbo man that has lived in Ibadan having great grand children that had not even been to the east? Those children are Igbo Yoruba some of them are more Yoruba than many pure Yoruba born in Lagos. They are Igbo Yoruba generation. I had a classmate in the university then who could speak Ekiti dialect like nobody, in fact, he was an Ekiti boy with igbo parents. The key problem is the way we segregate in Africa across ethnic and tribal lines, I've met 2nd or 3rd generations of Yoruba in the North in fact there is s particular town in Katsina state attributed to Yoruba founders, a large town and they have no emir or seriki and indigent of the town are scrutinised politically. I feel integration will help us grow better. However those who see themselves more as a different people should be allowed too as what they are. So to my Ijaw Yoruba friend, I embrace you omoluabi, welcome but remember, the Yoruba lifestyle and mentality is important but more important is being a child of God. Thank you. |
Charleys:That's not true. Just state you dont know history. Key actors in Yoruba history; orunmila, Adimula(oduduwa), ogun etc have something to do with Ekiti and Ondo states. |
pazienza:You can agree even with your enemies if you have a common objective of defeating may be a stronger enemy. What the three regions in the south need is a common objective and its workable |
The old western region has really lost ground in Nigeria when you compare those three regions holistically today. However, I think its imperative that the Yoruba and Igbo work together even if just for the sake of political freedom. Winning supports from the middle belt is easy because there are enough cracks in the wall up there to exploit. |
Some plausibility in your story but am interested in the source. River Niger and Benue migrations were true and the isakiri or samaria. There are some facts but please give us some sources |

Tell PYO no shaking. As long as christ lives shame belongs to the opposition. Surely they shall gather ........no shaking but I trust God to do the shaking for PYO |
Jimi has been factual on his program. I may have differ from him on a few occasions but if true Tunji Bello is unfit let him go we have over 20million residents in and around lagos and we can have a healthy person to handle that portfolio |
Rahyberg:This will be quite disappointing if Gov. Fayemi cannot come out straight on this. Did those students shoot at his wife? Such a civilised man should bring to bare the civility I've known him to exhibit. Just imagine the level of sorrow in 4homes where their future were murdered in cold blood. It was not a war situation why shoul we lose our future because of protect on legitimate amenities? This is saddening and the governor's wife should come out clean on this while parents of all students that died be compensated. King David punished Joab with death sentence for murdering Amasa in cold blood by instructing solomon to carry out his execution, God is not happy with all these bloodshed and Pastor Adeboye spoke the mind of God over shedding blood in this country. Let governor Fayemi do something over this and fast. |

This is transferring graft consequences to the public. Govt. failures orchestrated by the elites are now gradually being shipped on the populace like the pharisees jesus condemned in the bible. However, if the toll gate would not exceed 100naira per car then we can compare with current cost and to even do that is to be magnanimous with the government. It is the responsibility of government to fix roads and can toll alternative routes, these are not alternatives to me. It's a tricky one but I think there's need for revolution in governance in Nigeria |
Malema he will someday govern south Africa |
Lagos state should ban motorcycles across the state that will solve this menace |
The informal sector in Nigeria is very large. A huge portion of the trading activities, even the agricultural sector lie within this sector and traders benefit a lot from this. This means that it's difficult to quantify the value of services take for instance a farmer in the village hired labour to make heaps, the cost of such may not factor into the GDP. That may mean that most informal businesses though they may pay some local charges but most of such are captured in government revenues e.g. monies collected by transport unions would definitely not be all remitted to government coffers. So the likelihood that SE traders or MSMEs dont pay tax may not be true entirely but they may be under taxed which is similar to SW and the North. The difference between the two is that SW has more organized sectors. |
I think the devil was looking at how Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to the rock and the devil probably thought that was a sufficient ground to steal his body which he could have erroneously termed as disobedient. May be God did not see it that way. The angel understood the craftiness of Satan who was also an arch angel before and just rebuked him. You will recall that Satan brought three core temptations to JESUS Christ, first to misuse His power for self sufficiency instead of the church for which He fasted, second to exercise faith in a way that did not glorify God through erroneous application of God's word and three to project an illusion that was out rightly false, like if you do money rituals you will become stupendously rich like Bill Gates which is a lie and then just call the devil master and you will see it happen in your face. The angel was smart to just shut the devil up by invoking the authority of God, and that brings in God's sovereignty into play meaning that the devil becomes powerless. |
I have my opinion, the 4% addition will be to whose pockets? Why under normal economic condition removing subsidy should improve govt incomes and translate to infrastructural and economic growth that will bring more opportunities, Nigeria is unfortunately not operating a normal economy. The strong arm pf graft reach to everywhere and half of the money will end up in corrupt pockets and may be a third of the remaining half will end up in inflated contracts and padded budgets etc. I feel the tendency for inflation is too high for the poor population and the over 90million people earning under $1 a day. Those advocating for subsidy removal have strong points but are yet to really present the effect on the common man |
There are some truths in what the OP said. Materialism is rife among Africans and financial expertise among common people is low. Africans or Nigerians do bond at the levels of family and society but not so much in business where people see formulae as secret codes, some die without their own chilren knowing them! If for instance America or Europe want to grow the economy, they may want to work with the middle class to create opportunities just do that in Nigeria, they will take the capital to Dubai or UK so African has a huge capital flight. Sadly, Africans or Nigerians have not really created enough of financial products to create wealth for a larger public, banks toxic assets are owe by less than 100 families across board but Americans especially do look out for financial instruments to solve problems. Financial education is low as well. So Africans concept of money is what you spend and caucasians concept is what you gather! |
This story should be investigated and government act appropriately. Health is wealth and government should focus on all allegations in this story |
This is quite an unwise decision for an area that is extremely important for children development for a country with no food tech to provide local alternatives instantly, I will advise BAT to advise on this issues that these are some of the policies that will backfire in 2023 election. When trying to create opportunities, you dont immediately cut off your head to cure your headache. |
There should have been some professionals than it's currently constituted. Political supporters can be rewarded in any ways but policy development and management is the issue at stake here. I think a more cerebral cv and exposure is needed to handle policy management o 200million people for a developing economy. I just hope portfolio can be allocated appropriately. The ministerial list is a pro 2023 project for Tinubu and Buhari camps |
