We are just creating hardship upon ourselves, just see what the so-called tanker drive and the CEO of the station did, not minding the health wellbeing of whoever purchase it assuming they were not apprehended by custom! |
Smuggling in whatever form, has never improved any economy anywhere in the world. We complaint of lack of jobs for our population yet we lack the Patience & patriotic zeal to support our government to grow a stable & prosperous economy that will stand the test of time. Thailand's population is about sixty million people yet despite our population which is almost four times their own, we want to rely on them for every grain of rice that we consume. Even the insecurity bedevilling our our country , is traceable to the activities of smugglers through our porous borders. May Allah give us understanding & make governance easy for our leaders Amin |
The Nigerian Customs Service, Kano/Jigawa command on Friday impounded 250 bags of foreign rice concealed in a fuel tanker along Daura-Kano road, worth over N5.5m of duty paid value. Displaying the seized tanker and the rice, the controller of the command, Comptroller Nasir Ahmed, said the new method of concealing goods by smugglers was new and challenging. “What we saw today is a little bit new, something that is challenging to our thinking. If somebody can load rice in a compartment that is supposed to be containing diesel, petrol or kerosene, then we should assume that they can conceal anything in the tank. “It can contain Tramadol, it can contain arms and ammunition or any other prohibited goods, and they loaded it in such a way that it will be very difficult to detect. But through intelligence and diligence of our men, they were able to perceive it,” he said. Ahmed added that keeping rice or any other consumable in such condition has some serious health implications in addition to the security threats the new method of smuggling was posing to the nation. He called on the general public to support and compliment the effort of the federal government by desisting from patronizing such smuggled goods and giving useful information to the relevant security agencies.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/kano-customs-impounds-250-bags-of-rice-concealed-in-fuel-tanker.html? The Federal Government says it is partnering the Russian government to revive Ajaokuta Steel Company. Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals Development, Mr Olamilekan Adegbite, disclosed this at an interactive session with Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Mines, Steel Development and Metallurgy in Abuja on Friday. He further said that the main feature of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Russia next week is to discuss the reviving of the steel company. According to the minister, the Russians have shown interest to help Nigeria revive Ajaokuta with their own money. “They want to put Ajaokuta back and we are looking at different methods to engage them. “Because it is almost completed, they bring in some money to finish what is there and operate it for a while; realise their investment, profit and transfer it back to Nigeria. “I think this is the best path to revive Ajaokuta and I believe within the tenure of our time, we will achieve this,” Adegbite said. The minister said that Ajaokuta Company was never vandalised contrary to reports but it was concessioned to a particular firm. Adegbite, however, noted that invasion of the mining industry by foreign nationals was being encouraged by some state governments. “A lot of effort is going on to check illegal mining in the country,” he said https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/fg-russian-government-to-partner-in-reviving-ajaokuta-coy-minister.html?

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Shirley Botchwey, has urged the Nigerian Government to urgently review its decision to close its borders with Benin. The minister said the border closure had severely affected Ghanaian traders, noting that it could lead to political tension in countries impacted by the decision. Botchwey, who stated this during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in Abuja on Wednesday, was accompanied by her counterparts, Minister of Trade, Allan Kyerematen and the Acting High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mrs Iva Denoo. She stated that truckloads of goods from Ghana had been detained at the Seme Border between Benin and Nigeria for weeks, adding that returning such to the seaports would be a major loss for Ghanaian traders. She said, “The closure of the borders has had considerable disruptions to trade in the sub-region, with grave consequential economic effects on Ghanaian traders.” Reacting to the call, Onyeama said that the borders were closed to protect Nigeria’s economy from smugglers, traffickers and illegal migrants.http://saharareporters.com/2019/10/16/re-open-border-benin-republic-ghana-urges-nigerian-government?fbclid= Mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |

They were abducted, sold off, their names were changed to Igbo names, they were made to change from Islam to Christianity, This is the highest level of criminal act # JusticeforkanoKids |
Igbo community in Kano state has condemned the alleged abduction of nine childrenaged between 2 to 10 from the state by persons believed to be of Igbo extraction. The kids were said to have been abducted from various locations within Kano metropolis and sold for trafficking in Onitsha, Anambra state, in the southeastern part of the country. In a statement jointly signed and issued on Wednesday by the President General, Igbo Community Development Association, Kano state chapter, Chief Ebenezer Chima and the Eze Ndigbo, Kano, Igwe Boniface Ibekwe, the Igbo leaders called for stiffer punishment for the culprits in order to serve as deterrent to others. The community however commended the Kano state command of the Nigeria Police Force and other sister security agencies for being proactive and responsive in ensuring that the victims are rescued and reunited with their respective families. The statement states that “We wish to condemn in strong terms the trafficking of nine children of Kano origin by some unscrupulous persons from the South East. We want to commend the police for their proactive investigation and other security agents for their synergy that led to the recovery of the victims and further recommend for very stiff penalty for the culprits to serve as deterrent to others who may be nursing such nefarious act.” While commending the governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II for their usual understanding, the statement charged all Igbo people resident in the state to always strive to be law abiding as they carry out their legitimate businesses. Daily Trust had reported that the Police Command in Kano last Friday reunited nine kids who were allegedly kidnapped and sold in Anambra state with their parents.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/kano-kids-abduction-igbo-community-calls-for-stiffer-penalty-for-culprits.html? Eartquake1:You forget to mention several baby factories in your villages, the uncountable shrines used to suck blood of your brothers for money This is wrong, we can use the bad acts of some ppl to generalize the entire trib. The culprit should be dealt with and avert future occurrence. |
Eartquake1:Nobody is supporting it. Please don't pontificate. Criminality is not an exclusive reserve of any tribe. |
Eartquake1:When it comes to sentimental issues, even the most intelligent southern, becomes a complete zero. How can you support such an act of criminality? Imagine If it was the other way, the country would probably be on fire by now. |
Osagyefo98:All intrest group should allow the police and relevant agencies to carry out a thorough and unbiased investigation and prosecute culprits. Pls no sentiment! |
A crime is a crime. Let's stop tribalizing crime out of share hatred of a tribe, visiting the sins of an insignificant few on a whole tribe. There is no greater way to destroy relationships and this nation as a whole. It's a calamity for this nation if at 59 we have learnt nothing and still fanning the embers of hatred instead of building bridges. There is no tribe without its criminals and bad eggs in the country. Let non be condemned because of its criminal elements. Let every crime be punished according to the law. |
The Coalition of Northern Groups in Nigeria has accused the eastern region of the country of working on an agenda to cripple the viability of the North debasing its human resource capital base. In a statement by the coalition, the North accused the Presidency, local and international media of downplaying the uncovering of how some individuals from the South-East in the last 10 years had been abducting, trafficking and proselytizing Muslim children to becoming Christians, even changing their identity and language. Recently, the Kano State Police Command said it arrested eight suspects involved in the kidnapping and trafficking of nine children. The victims have been reunited with their relatives. The children, aged between two and 10 years, were kidnapped from various locations within the state capital and trafficked in Anambra State. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, who handed the kids to their relatives, said some of them were abducted in 2014. Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and trafficking of the children. Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, Iliyasu said one Sagir Mohammed Bako had alerted them about the mysterious disappearance of children from neighbourhoods across the state capital. The Coalition of Northern Groups is deeply touched by the report of nine innocent children forcefully separated from their parents and moved to eastern Nigerian towns. We are profoundly agitated to learn that the children were also baptized with new names and forcefully converted to a religion other than the one their parents practise. We are also moved that all the players on both removing and receiving points belong to a certain Nigerian tribe whose members are deeply entrenched in every town, city and village in northern Nigeria. We are particularly saddened that days after the discovery of this heinous crime, no federal, state or local government, cultural, traditional, or religious group, NGO, or international organization has spoken on the matter. We are further disturbed that even the national and international media except just a few appear to want to downplay this matter. The Federal Government has refused entry for 1,111 irregular migrants in the past two months of the ongoing joint border operations just as it has removed 728 others who are already in the country. The Comptroller General of Immigration, Mohammed Babandede, at a joint briefing with Customs in Abuja, who revealed this, said that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had also stopped many on irregular migration since August 20 when the operation began.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/borders-fg-refuses-entry-for-1111-irregular-migrants-in-2-months.html
