The federal government yesterday in Abuja handed over the keys and certificate of occupancy of the apartment promised to former Super Eagles’ chief coach Clemens Westerhof for leading his team to Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) glory in Tunisia 1994. The house handed over to Clemens Westerhof is located in Prototype Housing Scheme in Gwagwalada, Abuja and other beneficiaries were allocated their homes in various states of their choice in the National housing programme estates across the country. Mr Westerhof, a citizen of Holland, had in 1994 led the senior male national football team to Nigeria’s second continental triumph. The minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, who made the presentation on behalf of the government 28 years after, said it was a testimony of President Buhari-led government resolved to ensure that Nigerians irrespective of time, who made sacrifices to project the good image of country, are recognized and encouraged to keep working for the corporate benefits of all. The minister who was represented by the director of public building and housing, Arch Solomon Labafilo said: “As we head towards the end of president Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure of office, I’m happy to also say that we have entered a season of completion and handover of keys to beneficiaries in 35 states and the FCT to Nigerians who have successfully subscribed for houses built under the National housing programme (NHP). https://leadership.ng/tunisia-94-federal-govt-hands-over-certificate-of-occupancy-to-westerhof/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun puskin dragnet honsule honeric01 semid4lyfe |

Back in June, Mohammed, a final year student of the Federal University, Dutse, had tweeted that First Lady Aisha Buhari was feeding ‘fat’ on poor people’s money. The 500-level student was subsequently arrested by security operatives and arraigned before the FCT High Court No. 14. However, the First Lady on Friday withdrew the case against Mohammed after intense pressure. I never meant to hurt you, student critic begs Aisha Buhari Aisha Buhari’s media critic returns to school According to the prosecution counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, the withdrawal followed the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians. In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Mohammed’s family expressed happiness over his release from detention, and narrated how the student’s planned visit to the President failed to materialise. Shehu Baba Azare, his uncle, who spoke on behalf of the family, said, “Aminu was released yesterday (Friday) and we awaited him because we learnt that he was billed to visit Mr President at the Presidential Villa yesterday night but unfortunately the visit was not possible, later they shifted the visit to this morning (Saturday) still the visit didn’t take place. At the end of it all, they met with Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu who boarded a flight for him from Abuja to Dutse in Jigawa State where Aminu was received by his friends and well-wishers. “The entire family is extremely happy with his release because we’ve been struggling for his freedom for a long time. Initially, we felt we could not do it until when we committed the issue to public court where we got public assistance from individuals, the media, CSOs and from everywhere. At the end, Aminu is free.” https://dailytrust.com/how-aisha-buharis-critic-met-a-governor-after-meeting-with-president-failed/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun puskin dragnet honsule |
This is precisely the point. Often times, we reject traditional religious ideas in the name of liberalism and modernity to toot our own horns while being too arrogant to look at what actually is most beneficial for humanity and society. |

Many women said that Qatar's restriction on the selling of alcohol near football stadiums has contributed to a decrease in the hostile atmosphere associated with the game. HerGameToo campaign manager Ellie Molloson admitted she had some reservations about visiting Qatar, according to The Times. “I’ve got to say coming here has been a real shock to my system,” the 19-year-old told The Times. “There have been no catcalls, wolf whistles or sexism of any kind.” This comes despite the fact that Qatar has received intensified scrutiny over alleged “discrimination” against women. However, it appears that many female spectators have found the stadiums to be friendlier and more welcoming than they might have anticipated, especially given the carefully orchestrated atmosphere of this World Cup. Along with Molloson, many other British female fans now think that this World Cup should serve as a template for soccer matches and culture back in the UK. “I had all these preconceived notions about what I would encounter,” said Molloson. “The reality has been nothing like that. I’ve not experienced any of the harassment I have experienced in England. I don’t know how they have achieved that but it’s an amazing environment to experience.” Her father, whom she asked to come along with her following her initial fears, said: “I came out primarily to look after Ellie and frankly I needn’t have bothered.” Molloson is not the only one. Jo Glover has been attending World Cup finals since South Africa in 2010. “The atmosphere here feels less tribal. Everyone is wearing their (team) colours and there is no hassle,” she told the British newspaper. Many still recall the rowdy yobs who caused chaos at Wembley stadium, when England advanced to the Euro 2020 final in July. The absence of hooliganism in Qatar, according to a senior British police officer, is proof that the government shouldn’t relax its prohibitions on alcohol at football stadiums. The atmosphere in Qatar, according to Chief Constable Mark Roberts, who oversees football policing in the UK, was “passionate but friendly”, much like it was during the summer finals of the women’s Euro 2022 tournament. The UK government is thinking about removing the senior leagues’ 36-year-old ban on alcohol consumption in the stadiums. According to Roberts, the UK should “drop ideas of reintroducing alcohol in the stands” in light of the fan experience in Qatar. The absence of alcohol doesn’t affect the pleasant buzz or the relaxed atmosphere, which is a good thing, he added. Women are noticing the difference everywhere, not just in the stands. https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2022/12/03/2815601/qatar-alcohol-ban-helps-female-fans-feel-safer https://www.itv.com/news/2022-12-02/why-female-football-fans-feel-safer-in-qatar-than-at-matches-at-home mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun honeric01 semid4lyfe

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has cautioned consumers against the patronage and use of devices that have not been approved and counterfeit devices. NCC strongly warned that such devices negatively affect the quality of experience while leaving their users vulnerable to losses and other discomforts. A statement by NCC on Wednesday said the enforcement team arrested Yahaya Ado of Gezawa Communications Limited for selling counterfeit Gionee devices and not being able to show any evidence of authorisation granted to the company by the commission. The Kremlin on Friday rejected US President Joe Biden’s terms for Ukraine talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, saying Moscow’s offensive will continue. “What did President Biden say in fact? He said that negotiations are possible only after Putin leaves Ukraine,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, adding Moscow was “certainly” not ready to accept those conditions. “The special military operation is continuing,” Peskov said, using the Kremlin term for the assault on Ukraine. During a state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, Biden said Thursday he would be willing to speak to Putin if the Russian leader truly wants to end the fighting. “I’m prepared to speak with Mr Putin if in fact there is an interest in him deciding he’s looking for a way to end the war,” the US leader said. Peskov on Friday said Putin was ready for talks to ensure Russia’s interests are respected but added that Washington’s stance “complicates” any possible talks. “The United States does not recognise new territories as part of the Russian Federation,” Peskov said, referring to Ukrainian regions that the Kremlin claims to have annexed. In September, Moscow held so-called referendums in four regions of Ukraine — Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk and Zaporizhzhia — and said residents had voted in favour of becoming subjects of Russia. The United Nations has condemned the “attempted illegal annexation” of Ukrainian land. Peskov said that before sending troops to Ukraine on February 24 Putin had repeatedly proposed to hold talks with NATO, the OSCE and the United States but those attempts had proved “unsuccessful.” https://www.channelstv.com/2022/12/02/kremlin-rejects-biden-terms-for-ukraine-talks/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun |
