Argentina will not take over at the top of FIFA's World Ranking this
month -- despite defeating France to win the World Cup for the first
time since 1986.
South American rivals Brazil have held the No. 1 position since
February, when they deposed Belgium at the summit. But even
though the Selecao failed to make it past the quarterfinals,
Argentina's results haven't been enough to overtaken them.

Brazil won three games at the World Cup, lost to Cameroon and
suffered a penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Croatia.
Argentina, meanwhile, won four games, lost one to Saudi Arabia and
were twice victorious on penalties -- including the final on Sunday as
they beat France 4-2 on spot kicks.
Argentina won the Copa America in 2021, and are now world
champions, but it's not enough for the No. 1 spot. Shootout
successes are worth far fewer ranking points than regulation-time
wins. If either Argentina or France had won the final within 120
minutes they would have gone to No. 1, but a penalty shootout
guaranteed that Brazil could not be overtaken.
Argentina and France both move up one place into second and third
respectively, while Belgium slide down two places to fourth after
failing to make it beyond the group stage. England stay in fifth, with
fellow quarterfinalists Netherlands up two places into sixth.
Croatia's run to a third-place finish at the World Cup sees them as the
biggest climbers into the top 10, up five places from 12th. Italy, who
failed to make it to Qatar, drop two spots to eighth. Portugal are
unchanged in ninth, with Spain down three places to 10th.
The biggest climbers are Morocco and Australia, who both go up 11
places. Both countries massively over-performed, with fourth-placed
Morocco now the top-ranked African team in 11th and Australia, who
made the round of 16, up to 27th. It's not Morocco's highest-ever
ranking, as they were 10th in 1998, but as recently as 2015 they were
as low as 92nd.
Cameroon also enjoy a big rise of 10 places up to 33rd, thanks to
their win over Brazil.
The United States takes over as the top-ranking CONCACAF team, up
three places into 13th as Mexico falls two into 15th.
Canada and Qatar are the biggest fallers, both dropping 12 places
into 53rd and 62nd respectively. Wales slump nine spots into 28th;
Denmark are down eight into 18th and Serbia drop eight to 29th.
The new FIFA World Ranking, which is a rolling assessment of results
weighted for importance, will be officially published on Thursday.

The spokesperson for Atiku/Okowa Presidential
Campaign Organisation, Daniel Bwala has said the
presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi,
would be sent home just as Morocco in the just
concluded World Cup.
Bwala disclosed this in a post via his verified Twitter
handle.
Recall that the Morocco team became the first African
team to reach the semi-final stage in a football World
Cup tournament, following its performance in the just
concluded game held in the wealthy Arabian nation of
Qatar.
Morocco also played and was defeated for the third place
position after elimination in the semi-final against the
French team.
However, Bwala had politically likened Obi and LP to the
Moroccan team, saying it would lose steam and be sent
home sooner when the game (2023 presidential election)
has settled.
He also compared his principal (Atiku) to the Argentine
team, saying he would emerge a winner.
Bwala wrote: “Peter Obi and Labour are just like Morocco.
They went to the World Cup as a new phenomenon
running kiti kiti kata kata. When the game settled, they
lost steam and were sent home. That’s how Peter Obi
would be sent home in February Presidential elections.

Rapists need to be punished because their ungodly behaviour is a crime against humanity. Their negative attitude exposes victims to danger, especially, sexually-related diseases

This year, as in most past years, rape has disturbed and engrossed our beloved country. Several cases have been recorded with few culprits being punished. The fact that legal action is not taken against most of the perpetrators of this gruesome and heinous crime is disappointing. There are several cases of rape which have led to the death of many female teenagers, some underaged. Rapists do not deserve pity or sympathy, rather, wrath and fury, because they destroy the future of their victims. Rape of women and girls accounts for the highest number of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The belief that “boys will always be boys” should be denounced and abandoned because the boys would engage in rape thinking that they wouldn’t be prosecuted. Rapists need to be endangered because their ungodly behaviours are a crime against humanity. Their negative attitudes expose victims to danger, especially sexually- related diseases such as papillomavirus, genital herpes and HIV/AIDS. The effects of rape include physical and psychological trauma of the victim. Although rape victims commonly report injuries and issues with their reproductive system after the assault, rape doesn’t always have physical effects. The most common and lasting effects of rape are usually psychological. Therefore, I admonish my fellow compatriots, that whosoever is guilty of rape should be prosecuted and exposed because the fear of being caught and shamed will help greatly in reducing the high rate of rape cases. Many Almajiris went to KARA Market in Birnin Kebbi, not far from my house to do work and they were paid with onions, tomatoes and other vegetables stuff because they are cheap at this season.

One Little Almajiri came to my House with onions in an exchange for food to eat. I offered Him food and collected the onions.
