If I am not wrong, I think based on the new electoral law, when the case is not a pre-election matter, it ends at the appeal court for governorship election cases. Only the presidential election can get to supreme court in this scenario. I might be wrong but that is my belief from what I read when the law came out if I still remember well.

This Osun case is an Election tribunal matter. Post election.
you mean there is only appeal court remain no Supreme court rulling on this case?

PoliticsWe Foiled 66 Attempts To Hack FEC Virtual Meetings – FG by ManirBK(op): 8:17am On Jan 27, 2023
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, yesterday says 66 attempts by hackers from Europe to compromise the virtual meetings of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) were foiled. Pantami said all the cases were reported to the appropriate authorities for the record and actions. He spoke in Abuja at the 19th edition of the President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023). He noted that no fewer than 108 virtual federal cabinet meetings had been held since the National Policy on Virtual Engagements for Federal Public Institutions in October 2020 to formalise government online meetings including those of the FEC and the Council of State.
He said that for the implementation of the virtual meetings, Nigeria would have spent over N47 billion holding physical meetings. He said no fewer than 2.2 million jobs had been created in the nation’s digital sector in the last three years. Pantami attributed the challenges in telecommunications to infrastructure deficit and vandalisation of fibre optic cables. He said in one particular year about 13,000 cases of vandalisation of fibre optic cables were recorded in several locations across the country. The minister put broadband penetration as of November 2022 at 46. 2 per cent, and quarterly revenue generation from the ICT sector at N408 billion. On why the government had not been able to track kidnappers who used telephone calls to reach families of captives for ransom negotiation despite the SIM card registration, he said, “This falls under cybercrime. Cybercrime is under the office of the national security advisor and other security institutions. “Our role in cyber security is to ensure we minimize the possibility of a criminal deploying technology to commit a crime. So our work is proactive. At the same time, if the crime is committed and our intervention is required officially then we are going to intervene. “So, here when it comes to minimizing the probability of criminals committing a crime, we need to reintroduce the national NIN and civil registrations. Two, we enforce the NIN registration. NIN registration is by our law in Nigeria, NIN is mandatory for all citizens.”

CrimeMeet Borno Youth Who Developed App To Curb Insecurity, Boost Revenue by ManirBK(op): 7:19am On Jan 21, 2023
Yusuf Hayatudeen, 30, is a young passionate inventor and
entrepreneur who developed softwares to fight crimes and
generate revenue in 5 states. The last child in a family of
5, he had both primary and secondary school education at
Elkanemi Islamic Primary School and Elkanemi College of
Islamic Theology before proceeding to study Information
Management Technology at the Sikkim Manipal University
of Ghana. Yusuf is currently the Chief Executive Officer of
Bexil Computer and Solution limited Maiduguri. Excerpts

What did you specialise in?
We specialize in providing solutions to some critical
challenges facing the society. Growing up in Maiduguri, I
always thought of what could be done to improve my state;
looking at the unemployment rate of the youth, poverty
levels and insecurity. It used to be of great concern to me,
so after the one-year mandatory NYSC, I did a lot of
research, which led to the development of some
applications that can reduce insecurity if put into proper
use with the help of artificial intelligence.

What informed your decision to develop these apps?

I have always been an ICT enthusiast. In 2014, I developed
an app to help improve security, especially within
Maiduguri. In the heat of insurgency, I and some of my
friends tried to decipher the cause of the problems we
were facing in Borno and the North-east, and answer to our
quest was the issue of Okada riders then. There was a time
the government ordered that they must wear helmet in the
state capital but this order led to an uproar. That was part
of the beginning of Boko Haram insurgency. The people
and security agencies clashed around Custom area
because of the refusal of the people to obey government’s
orders. This was part of what culminated to the national
security issues we are facing today.
So, we felt if the tricycle operators are not sanitised,
another bigger Boko Haram is looming because a lot of
crimes are being perpetrated in Borno State, especially at
night, using Keke Napep.

We no longer have Okada since the Keke Napep have
replaced them, so why not create a software that will
enable the government have the data of all operators and
create solutions and innovations that would help curb the
crimes and generate revenue?

Tell us more about the features and benefits of this app?
Apart from fighting crimes in our society, it has improved
job creation. In Keke Napep associations alone, I think
more than 1,000 people have benefited directly. We have
registered at least 25,000 tricycles in Borno State. People
come to register their tricycles and checks are being
conducted by the association before they could be
integrated into our system. Also, revenues are collected
digitally.
As you know, identity is very important when it comes to
profiling taxpayers, and governments are losing billions of
naira in that sector. If the government can identify the
taxpayers, it would be easy for governments to know if
someone is paying tax or defaulting. So, with this app, the
operators have their unique identities and the electronic
machine would reveal the data of every operator. There is
no way to default at all. It has worked perfectly and you can
go to the Board of Internal Revenue to verify.
We generate between N600 and N700 million annually from
Keke Napep alone since the inception of this software.
Before, it was a zero-revenue sector for the state
government.

What are the challenges you have experienced?
One of the setbacks we faced at the beginning of the
project was fear of change from our people, they thought
we were coming to take over their jobs, that was a major
problem we had. Even in the state government circle, a lot
of people were afraid of these initiatives.
I developed this app since 2014, we started making some
moves and contacting people in the government but they
were afraid. It didn’t materialise until 2020 after Prof
Babagana Zulum became the governor and I met with the
Commissioner for Transportation, forwarded the proposals
to the office of the governor and it was immediately
approved by the governor.
For six years I pursued the state government to sell this
initiative to them, so you can see that consistency is key.
As we speak, we have a lot of software on ground that we
trying to sell to people but we are not deterred by those
challenges because we know it is part of what makes us
stronger and brings out the best in us.

About nine female students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, were reportedly raped when armed robbers invaded their hostel in the early hours of Friday. The robbers who were estimated to be about 20 had stormed Ifite road, Awka, where the hostels were located shooting indiscriminately and robbing from room to room. A student of the university, who would not want her name mentioned, told reporters that the robbers were heavily armed with guns, axes and matchets. “We were at the hostel when we had gunshots that lasted for about ten minutes and we ran for our lives because they had not gotten to our own hostel; we hid at the back of some shops in the area. PHOTOS: Niger priest burnt to death buried amid tears Gunmen kill 5 family members, 3 others in Benue “Then we had loud noise of female students shouting for help but nobody could summon the courage to stop them because they are well armed. Those that attempted to resist were beaten blue black and many people got injured but I cannot say the number of people affected. “One of the female students that was raped is a virgin and they raped her twice and we are holding her because she wants to commit suicide. However, it was gathered that a call was placed to Gov Charles Soludo who ordered security operatives to battle the robbers but before they could arrive, the operation was almost over. Four days before the incident, students were attacked at bars and restaurants in the area. According to the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Tochukwu Ikenga who confirmed the incident, “Our men on getting wind of the information got to Ifite Awka and was able to battle the criminals.” He did not disclose how many people that were arrested as according to him making it public would interrupt investigations.

PoliticsSoludo: Obi Didn’t Allow LP To Campaign Freely In Anambra As Governor by ManirBK(op): 5:05pm On Jan 20, 2023
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has accused his predecessor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, of denying his current party the opportunity to campaign in the State when he was governor.

Soludo made the accusation on Thursday while fielding questions on the Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

The Anambra governor was reacting to the allegations from LP leaders that the State government restricted the party in terms of political campaigns.

“Nobody has done that. He did not even allow the Labour Party, where he is now, to freely campaign in Anambra. He denied them even the venue that they paid for,” he said.

Soludo added that he had twice granted Obi the opportunity to use government properties in the State for his political campaign.

PoliticsFEC Approves NNPC Ltd’s Move To Invest ₦‎1.9 Trillion In 44 Roads by ManirBK(op): 7:28am On Jan 19, 2023
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the recommendation for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC LTD.) to invest 1.9 trillion in the reconstruction…

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the recommendation for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC LTD.) to invest 1.9 trillion in the reconstruction of 44 federal roads under the tax credit policy.

The council gave the approval at its meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, briefed State House correspondents on behalf of the Minister of Works and Housing.

“The Federal Executive Council approved the recommendation to invest in the reconstruction of selected federal roads under the Federal Government Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Policy phase 2 by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited and its subsidiaries.

“So, the council approved the proposal by the Ministry of Works and Housing for the reconstruction of 44 proposed federal roads with a total length of 4,554 kilometres in the total sum of N1.9 trillion.’’

Akande said the council also approved the concession of nine federal roads.

He said that roads were spread across the country.

“In another memo, the Minister for Works and Housing also got the approval of the council for concessionaires for nine road corridors under the pilot phase of the value-added section of the Highways Development and Management Initiative following the issuance of the requisite full business case compliance certificate by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission for a period of 25 years for each road corridor as follows.

“The roads that will be under this first phase are the Benin-Asaba corridor, Abuja-Lokoja-Onitsha-Owerri-Aba, Shagamu-Benin, Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Makurdi, Kano-Maiduguri, Enugu-Port Harcourt, Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta and Lagos-Badagry-Seme.’’

More so, Akande said that the Minister for Works and Housing got the council’s approval for the augmentation of the contract for the rehabilitation of the Oshogbo-Ilesha road phase 1 in Osun State in the sum of N1.2 billion.

“The approval thereby revises the subsisting contract sum from N3 billion to N4 billion representing an increase of 33 per cent of the original sum,’’ he said. (NAN)

PoliticsFEC Approves ₦‎2.3 Billion For Local Assembly Of Aircraft by ManirBK(op): 7:22am On Jan 19, 2023
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of N2.3 billion for the commencement of local assembly of Magnus Centennial Aircraft at Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, disclosed this after the FEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mr Sirika expressed optimism that the Nigerian aviation industry would soon progress into local manufacturing of aircraft.

“I am happy to announce – today is the reality; we will indeed assemble the Magnus aircraft and will continue to do so and not too distant future by God’s grace, the industry of civil aviation will begin to manufacture right here in the country aircraft.

“But we are beginning by assembling these training aircraft and it will happen very soon.

“So, the memorandum has been passed in council; the manufacturer of the airplane is based in Hungary.

“And the total contract sum is N2.3 billion; the completion period is 18 months.’’

He said that the world of civil aviation stopped the spin and spin recovery training programme some time ago but the need for such training had arisen again.

According to him, the spin and spin recovery entails teaching students to identify when they get into spin situation, and how to recover out of the situation before it becomes a disaster.

“We were all trained like that as pilots; but because airplanes become more and more technologically advanced, the need for spin and spin recovery didn’t arise, because they are becoming more and more sophisticated.

“But again, the world realised that we still get into spin or there is a need for this skill to be developed for recovery out of spin situation.

“So, most of manufacturers stopped producing trainers for that purpose; and so there are not many people now that do that manufacture.

“And the company, Messrs Magnus, realised that gap and started to produce airplanes that can get into spin and out of it, so that students can be trained on that.

The minister said that due to the ministry’s maximum attention to safety, it believed that such training should come back to Nigeria’s aviation industry.

He said the US, which, at some point stopped the training, had gone back to training students on the spin and spin recovery.

“So this airplane is fully aerobatic, goes into aerobatics; and I think the Nigerian Air Force and the Air Force around the region will be interested and excited by this development, we are taking the lead in civil aviation.

“It is our intention to produce them here, assemble them here in policy, when in the future, you know, sell them out to where we’re interested around the world.

“So this will happen and I think the first one or two aircraft will happen here in Nigeria and to fly them within the remaining four months that we have as a government.

“So it is another item that is ticked on our plate, and to which we remain grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari and his government,’’ he said.

Mr Sirika added that FEC also approved the memorandum that revised the estimated total cost and augmentation, contract for procurement and installation of Instrument Landing System (ILS) in three airports.

The airports are Port Harcourt International Airport, Kano International Airport, and Katsina Airport.

Lostchild:
I have a neighbor, a very nice woman who love the word of God. She is very peaceful, humble and meek in nature. She get super excited each time she sees me and often brought gift to me. I know why she get excited which is very Godly and good. smiley

Day 1 The first time she saw and met me in person, she was very much afraid of me and wonder where I came from. She knew I am not from the land. When I tried to talk to her, she instantly refused and reject me not to talk to her. She was very fearful. She is a woman that avoid trouble and hardly trust people.

Day 7 I brought some fruits to her. She took them from me but I found out she later threw them away. I knew she was afraid to eat from the unknown stranger. undecided

Day 9 She apologize over her first snubby reaction about the first day when I tried to talk to her. I accepted her apology. smiley

Day 11 She brought to me some fruit too. I accepted them and ate them lmmediately I had the chance.

Week 2 She has asked me. Did you go to church today?

I replied her, no.

Why, she asked?

Me told her, I don't go to church. I know what to do and I know where I belong. She became afraid of me more which I understood. wink

When I scan her person, I saw she was harmless and good woman. She was a person of peace and harmony. I then start treating her with agape love as natural to me.

I knew in my heart, she will instantly submit to love. For love seek not the upper hand, but the lowest place of service.

In time being, she began to observe my
speech, behavior and way of life. She saw I was an immaterial person. She became more confortable with me and told me she is happy I move here to join her.

One Day She asked me, why don't you wanna go to church?

I told her, everyone has their God, and my personal relationship is between me and my own God.

She agreed, but insist I should forsake not the gathering of thy brethren.

I quote the scripture (Isaiah 57:15) when God said. I am the high and Holy God, who live in a high and holy place, but I also live with those who are humble and contrite in spirit, so that I can restore their confidence and hope.

She agreed and let me be.

The more she experience love from me, the more she submit and was full of happiness. She then told me I have the qualities the church need and asked me to join their church.

I told her, I can't join any Nigeria church for now.

Why, she asked?

You will also not understand my journey I blurted, but someday, you will. wink

Why can't you go to church to listen to the word of God, she re-asked me?

I told her, these Nigeria pastors are fake. They all selfish materialistic men. They don't understand the deeper ways of God, nor do they practice what they preach.

She was sadden over my words but nodded her head in affirmation, and told me, not all pastors are fake. embarassed

I told her, Ok. But I see them as business men who love to do what they enjoy doing.

Every Week I do tell her sob stories of what happened to others, and always end it with virtuous message. She likes and enjoy my short gist cheesy

She then told me, you know a lot ot things about spirituality, yet you don't go to church. shocked

Months Later She fully submit to love and we became good friends. She start sharing some of her personal life info unto me, including...

She will always give me gift and money without me asking her. Paying my bills, self including food and wanting me to feel comfortable in her house. All these are the consequences of my actions. I, myself can never reject the consequences of love. She is a person that is humble, so seeing her own kind always filled her with excitement.

She believes I have the character which God need. She tried to heavily pet me to be going to church. grin

I told her, God has remove me from Christiandom. I can never go back to my vormit. She was like, what Christiandom? undecided

I lauuuugh and told her, you will not understand. grin

Everytime we see, she will always gives me a Godly smiles. She said, since I move here, she has never seen me go to church. I always stay at home on sundays. She wants me to embrace and accept God by going to church.

She said if I start going to church, things will turn around for me and financial breakthrough will come.

I sternly take a look at my good friend and smiled. smiley

I have seen more wickedness in this country than you can now imagine. She told me I should not look at the wickedness of men. I should accept Jesus and be going to church.

I told her, I don't belong to Christiandom. But until this so called Nigeria pastors start preaching love and start practicing that same love they preach, I will not listen or see them as men of God. sad

THE MESSAGE

I recently walk up to her. I asked her, do you know that there are more church in Nigeria than anywhere in the world?

Yes, she nodded.

Nigerians have more religious centers and practice more Christian spirituality than anywhere in the world. They go to church always. They pray a lot. They sow seed and pay tithe to pastors always and believe in God more than the white men. But their ways and daily life is more closer to that of the devil than of God. undecided

Take a look at the white men. They are not that religious like we Nigerians. They don't practice spirituality like the average African black man. But their ways of virtue and disciplinary lifestyle is more purer and closer to God than that of the black men

The scriptures (Mathew 5:8] clearly says; Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
