The point is after shutting Russia off SWIFT which is a banking payment system, how does she access payments for the over 43% of Gaz it supplies to Europe and the 26 % of oil to same block. Russia will proceed to shut it's supplies bringing a spike in prices for oil, gas , wheat and other important metals. A spike so high, so enough to bring the global economy to a halt. Countries like Germany know that better.

Lol when Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 they were sanctioned, but Russia wasn't prepared for those sanctions on 2014.
This time, they are prepared. Russia over the years have been gradually removing the US dollar as a foreign reserve currency and replacing it with gold. Sanctions in 2022 would hurt the Russian economy, but it would not cripple it or devastate it as the Western leaders want you to believe.
Also, sanctioning Russia without China cooperating is laughable. China and Russia are trading partners and they don't use the US dollar for trade.
So you see, the sanctions would not hurt them as bad as 2014.

Whether America or Russia, when your next door neighbor is a super power with nuclear capabilities, you have to choose your associates wisely.

Do you make friends with powerful associates who live faraway or you make peace with a powerful neighbor who is close by? That's the choice for Ukraine.

Now that Russia has invaded, the only thing Ukraine's "friends" are offering is sanctions.

No country is putting soldiers on the ground to help Ukraine stop the invasion.

This is a lesson for smaller countries to sit up and take notice.
