I just finished reading it myself. Its less then 130 pages i couldn't put it down.

On 7 December Atheist Alliance International (AAI) launched Atheist Census at www.atheistcensus.com, a global project to count and capture a snapshot of the world’s atheists. The response to Atheist Census was very positive, with 8,880 entries confirmed and another c. 2,300 pending before it was taken offline as a result of a DoS (denial of service) attack, about 17 hours after launch.

Atheist Census is now back online with a higher level of protection, and entries have already grown to over 20,000. The President of Atheist Alliance International, Carlos A. Diaz, said "It seems that there are people who do not want atheists to be counted, who do not want to accept that as more people question and think critically about religion atheists are a growing demographic. It is a measure of the project's success - even at this early stage - that some people wanted to shut it down." He added "While truth and fair public policy are not determined by popularity, demonstrating the significance of the non-religious community will assist our efforts to promote a secular world. I encourage all atheists to be counted in Atheist Census."

Participants in Atheist Census identify their preferred non-religious title, religious (if any) background, education level level, age, gender identity and country. Participation is free, with an option to make a financial donation to help cover development and operating costs.

No. I would not submit to gods rule.
I prefer a democratic system of government based on equality for all regardless of race, religion, or gender.
As an ex christian I have read the bible and the laws in it are barbaric.
For example; Deuteronomy 13 commands you to stone your own family members to death, then slaughter with a sword, all the inhabitants of your next town (and kill all the animals too). These 'divine' rules are the laws of a crazed genocidal ruler.

Evolution is both a fact and a theory. Paleontologists have demonstrated it time and again (look at Hans Thewissen and whale evolution, for example) through the fossil record, and of course the advent of genetics and the discovery of DNA confirmed it. There are also, of course, those like Lenski who have seen natural selection in the laboratory.

It is also a theory - an explanation for a set of empirical observations - because it explains the data through things like natural selection and genetic drift.

Please help with your ideas on how to set up a tv channel for freethinkers and atheists. In the uk on sky satellite tv there are about 20 Christian channels and even more Muslim channels.
I feel the time is right to take the logical next step and set up a tv channel based on real science, rational thinking, atheism, and reason.
There is an overwhelming wealth of great programmes that can be shown on it from televised debates, atheist conferences, documentaries, comedies like the mr deity series, utube videos from the thinking atheist, www.thethinkingatheist.com the atheist experience, www.theatheistexperience.com etc, some of the good videos from the Richard Dawkins foundation for reason and science website www.richarddawkins.net (check out Sean faircloths speeches with excellent points about how churches abuse their tax exemption, that people just don't know about).

If we had a tv channel that people who were just channel hopping from the sofa could find I think it would be a great success as there are many apathetic atheists and cultural christians etc out there who need to be informed.
We could encourage secular and freethinking groups to advertise themselves and promote events and raise money to fund the channel.
Even if it just showed videos, it won't need a studio or presenters.

I would like some help with ideas to get a channel on air as soon as possible.
Where do I start, and how much will it cost?

FYI, superman is a fictional character bro. He is not alive and living amongst us.
But if he was real you can see that he would put his superpowers to much better use than the god of the bible has.
He would not go around murdering thousands of women children and babies. And condemning non believers to his torture chamber called hell after they die run by his fallen angel Satan. (Is this really necessary?).

Kudos to the Ask an Atheist guys over in Washington for coming up with a brilliant example. On the July 7th show (superman is greater than jesus), they invented a little game called "Yahweh or Doctor Doom?" The rules are simple: guess if a quote is from the Old Testament deity or from the Marvelous comic book super-villain Dr. Victor Von Doom!


Since both are fond of speaking in third person, their names have been replaced with "Steve". Also, any references to geography or time specific technologies have been redacted.

It sounds like it would be an easy game but it turns out it's harder than you think. Try it for yourself. It's more fun if you read them aloud in dramatic voice to your friends.

If we in deed evolved from apes, we wouldn't be eons apart in terms of our level of intelligence. We have evolved as humans from one primitive state to a more sophisticated one but no animal has been known/seen to evolve from one level of sophistication to another. The lions, tigers, apes, etc we have today are exactly the same in terms of level of intelligence as those that existed 1,000yrs, 10,000yrs or 100,000yrs ago.

The relationship between animals and their ecological niches has been firmly established. Most extinctions have occurred naturally, prior to Homo sapiens walking on Earth: it is estimated that 99.9% of all species that have ever existed are now extinct!

How did all the information contained in the DNA originate?  How did life originate?

The information in DNA supports the evolution theory even though Darwin knew nothing about DNA wnen he proposed the theory of evolution by natural selection. I do not know yet how the original Abiogenesis occured but scientists working on it think it could be related to RNA and proteins etc,  The moment when complex chemical structures became biological structures is still a mystery for now. If you know the answer please share it and provide the evidence to support your theory.

What is the ultimate cause of the universe?

The universe is observed to be expanding, so if you reverse the expansion it reverses to a singularity approx. 13.5 billion years ago. What caused the initial expansion is not known yet. If you think you know what caused it please share it and provide some falsifiable evidence to support your theory.

First of all answer those core questions before you begin to make your assumptions and conjectures. Cool

This is why scientist build huge particle colliders, radio telescopes, hubble space telescope, search for exo-planets and extra-terrestrial life, spectrum analysis of distant stars and found the red - shift of distant galaxies just last century after finding out that our milky way galaxy is one of billions of galaxies. The universe that we are a part of is much much more grander than the writers of the creation story in the bible were able to comprehend. We are just beginning to understand it, and there is a lot more to learn.

How do you know it is true?  Were you there to observe the explosion at the beginning? Shocked  They only become facts when you answer those foundation question, other than that your assumption remains fairytales.

You dont need to be there to observe it. light travels at over 670 million miles an hour. We can observe objects in the universe who's light has taken 13.5 billion years to reach us and which are accelerating away at a speed which causes their light to shift into the red end of the spectrum.
If you have a better theory please share it and provide the evidence to support it. Please do not refer to a book written by some ignorant bronze age middle eastern desert nomads 3000 years ago. There are hundreds of other faith based supernatural creation stories around the world written down. Some are quite poetic and beautiful, but just like the story in genesis, there is no evidence to support their simplistic bronze age supernatural claims.

There is overwhelming dna evidence that all life on this planet is related biologically, and that we are all related to the earth chemically, and we are also related to the universe atomically. The heavy elements that form part of our bodies and this planet were formed  in the nuclear fusion furnaces of exploding stars billions of years ago.
You need to at least look at the evidence and face the facts. Dont let answers in genesis website close your mind to the real world. This universe is not just 6000 years old. The observable universe is at least 13.5 billion years old. These are facts that you need to brush up on.

The evidence from evolutionists show that all humans are from Africa. What is racist about that?
We are the original humans. White people are africans who evolved lighter skins in a colder climate and thats all.
