Out of favour Super Eagles striker, Michael Eneramo, has expressed regrets for answering the calls to play for the national team when he had a golden opportunity to feature for the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia. The former Lobi Stars of Makurdi star considered accepting Tunisian citizenship in order to become eligible to play for that country’s national football team, but accepted the invitation to feature for Nigeria instead. He was called up to the Eagles in 2009 and played his first game on 11 February 2009. In his second game, he scored the opening goal against the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly in London. The former Esperance of Tunisia forward said on Brila FM that he is concerned about his neglect by the Eagles’ handler Samson Siasia after Coach Shuaib Amodu left. “I had the opportunity to play for the Tunisian national team but I decided to play for my fatherland. It was Amodu who invited me to play for Nigeria and I dumped the idea of featuring for the Tunisian national team,” said the 25-year-old player, who now plays for Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig. Speaking about his past exploits in the Eagles, the Tunisian 2010 Ligue 1 winner stated that he was part of the team that qualified Nigeria for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. “I was invited to play during the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup. I even scored for Nigeria in one of the matches. But it is rather so sad that I am no longer invited to play for the national team,” he lamented. |

1. Ohakim looted massively more than any government that ever was established in Nigeria, in terms of percentages and all pocked by himself, his family and one Commissioner of Local Government Kezie Ogaziechi, his former lawyer and writer of internet scam letters in their 419 days in Lagos. This was unlike Udenwa who looted and shared among his followers who now own the best houses, hotels and structures in Owerri. Let anyone go to New Owerri, Works Layout Estates, Aladinma Estate, Ikenegbu Estates and see Udenwa boys demonstrating wealth. The same is not for Ohakim. Majority of his boys can hardly fund their children’s education. 2. Ohakim picked random unprovoked and ambush style fights against most of his friends and allies, whom he suspected may appear to gain influence or relevance in Imo and cut them down- politically and financially. That is one major reason all the people fighting Ohakim are his former friends, allies, or clansmen . 3. Ohakim made the House of Assembly members to put many bad roads and infrastructural projects into the Imo state budgets, year after year. Then each House member will be asked to endorse his N4billion security vote, which he never adhered to. In many instances his security vote will exceed N6-7billion per year. Most of the excesses will be channeled into vigilante programs in the watchful eyes of the House. Then he will never perform on the projects inserted into the budgets. Many of these House members would go home to announce to their constituencies that this or that project was in the budget and will soon be commissioned. ALL turned out to be false and the House members licking their wounds silently. He will promise them to re-introduce next year, and again and again. Upon all these, the funds for all these projects in the budget were all collected by Ohakim and no HOUSE member has the guts to question Ohakim. 4. Ohakim no questioned received 100% support from PDP House of Assembly members, when Ohakim was a PPA governor. They gave him all the supports and legitimacy. He used them to fight his enemies, installed wasteful programs and promulgated laws designed to serve Ohakim only. By using the House of Assembly as errand house maids, and he assumed that the House was inept and he concluded that he could topple them anytime. When the Primary elections started Ohakim saw an opportunity to eliminate the House of Assembly since he knew that these House members either will be embarrassed in the various communities for not delivery and if they were allowed to come back will fight him since he misled them massively. It was on this, his political boys headed by Emma Ohakim his brother in August 2010 meeting concluded that eliminating the House of Assembly from return ticket will serve Ohakim best. Sure during the election, the House of Assembly members had neither money nor image to fight, and 17 out of 27 were eliminated by Ohakim. So how can anyone assume that these House members would not fight back? 5. He has very bad advisers, mouth diarrhea, disrespectful and deaf ears. What do you expect, when a man surrounded himself with rogues and selfish people called Special ADVISORS. Ohakim Commissioners were desk job Commissioners, except the LGA Commissioner a known 419ner. So how can a Commissioner deliver when that commissioner has nothing to show his people that he or she is in government? Many Commissioners cannot afford diesel to power their offices because funds were not made available to them. Even ink to print papers were lacking, many commissioners will type their documents at business centers or ask the beneficiary of the papers to take their letterhead to print and bring back for their signatures. Ask anyone that ever visited Ministries or works there and they will tell you how hot the offices are. The rogue SAs were all 419 people. Just name them and check their records its all in the open. People in Imo State and Commissioners all knew that the state is flat broke. 6. On Thursday April 28, 2011, as the anger over the losses were being deliberated at Emma Ohakim's office, he sent a text broadcast to all their supporters and said, “……….do or die Rochas will not be the governor of Imo state, Ohakim is leading.” Then one of the Special Advisors, Barr. Anumobi that was with him asked Emma do you think Rochas will probe Ohakim if he wins, Emma replied absolutely yes. Emma said just look at Rochas outburst in every event that the man would and could. Then the Special Advisor said, well, Former Military Administrator of Imo state -Zubairu burnt handover files, Udenwa burnt handover files before fully handing over to Ohakim at his residence and office, that Ohakim has the right to burn the handover files if he loses. Emma jokily said to him, we already got them packed ready to burn them. So it is on record that since the Military Administrator of Imo state Zubairu there were no records of handover files till date. How the Military Administrators, Evans Enwerem, Achike Udenwa used Imo state funds remain mysteries only found n the ashes. Imo state and security agents are forewarned that Ohakim has said they got all the files packed and ready to burn them. Ohakim’s wife has taken over many sensitive documents in the government House away from the prying eyes of the authorized workers, who normally control those files. So including other sins individually committed by those around Ohakim, thugs, taskforce members and those named here, how could anyone be in doubt of his loss? Imo state has 27 Local Governments and 17 House members lost (representing 17 Local Governments were stopped at the Primary), how can Ohakim win in those 17 easily? In the result of INEC so far released, APGA has won 16 House of Assembly seats representing 16 Local governments, is there a surprise in this OHAKIMATICS? |
ONE thing certain about the Nigerian politics is its uncertainty. This remark however synchronizes with the axiom that there is no permanent enemy in politics but permanent interest. There were instances which justify these sayings. For instance, it is unbelievable that the Imo former Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa could re-enact his friendship with Senator Ifeanyi Araraume after the former apparently stabbed the latter on the back and by so doing, caused the denial of the Imo governorship for Araraume in 2007. That was the cradle of Araraume’s political woe, that haunts him uptil now. It is equally unbelievable that Governor Ikedi Ohakim, could put behind all his vociferations against Araraume to pay him dramatic visit at Isiebu home at the time of distress. Governor Ohakim, according to grape vine sources visited Senator Araraume on Wednesday probably to discuss the way out for the imbroglio in the Imo governorship election. According to the source, Ohakim had visited the embattled Senator very late at night seeking his intervention to disentangle the threat by APGA to rob Okigwe zone the second term. Believing that Ngor-Okpala, is ACN strong hold and as one of the three LGAs marked out by INEC for rerun election since polling could not hold in the LGAs, the Governor was said to have pleaded with Araraume as the State leader of the ACN to direct its members to give him rescue votes. Our source hinted that Araraume who made it possible for Ohakim to gain access to his compound, was said to have advised the Governor not to worry, that he could still emerge victorious against APGA. As soon as the Governor left the house of the Senator, the news of his visit circulated in the State like harmattan fire as many people could not believe their ears that Ohakim paid unscheduled visit to his presumed number one political enemy and local rival. Although, the visit may have brought psychological succur to Ohakim, and at least breaking the more than 4 years jinx of lingering enemity, the INEC spoiled an opportunity that could have brought Ohakim and Araraume together by suspending indefinitely the rerun earlier scheduled for Ngor-Okpala, Oguta and Ohaji/Egbema LGAs. It will be recalled that in the wake of the Imo governorship election, a meeting of the Okigwe zone political elite and stakeholders was convened at the country home residence of Chief Tony Chukwu where decisions were reached to vote massively for Ohakim as their son, since the Orlu zone was unable to stop Rochas from the race. According to the elite, if Rochas wins, it will mean that zoning is dead in Imo, while an Ohakim win will mean that Imo will be stabilized on zoning arrangement. The outcome of the meeting appeared to be the reflection of the ACN’s poor showing in the guber election through out the Okigwe zone, as a measure of protest votes against the alliance between ACN and APGA said to have been decided at Amaifeke at the instance of Udenwa. |

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said the winner of the gubernatorial in Imo State between the incumbent Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the leading challenger, Rochas Okorocha of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, will only be determined after re-run polls in the local government areas where election was declared inconclusive yesterday. Kayode Idowu, Chief Press Secretary to Professor Attahiru Jega, Chairman, INEC told P.M. NEWS this morning that the commission is upholding the declaration of the election as inconclusive by the Returning Officer. He said re-run election will be conducted only in those local governments where the polls were declared inconclusive. The re-run election, he said, will have to be conducted latest by tomorrow. Okorocha This is to meet the constitutional requirement which stipulates that elections must be held 30 days to the end of the tenure of the office holder. The tenure of all the current elected office holders will end on 29 May. Professor Enoch Akubundu, INEC Returning officer for Imo State gubernatorial election had said yesterday that the final results of the election could not be announced because only results from 24 out of the 27 local government areas in the state have been collated. According to him, it is necessary to collate the results from all the local governments in the state since the two leading candidates are running neck and neck. The two leading candidates were in a photo finish in the results of the local governments declared before the announcement by the Returning Officer. Rochas Okorocha of APGA had won 12 local governments out of the 24 declared, while Ohakim had won in 11 local governments and was leading in Oguta with 12,216 against APGA’s 4,449 when the Returning Officer for the local government declared that there were no elections in some wards in the area. The Returning Officer therefore declared the election in Oguta inconclusive. He added that there were also no elections at Ngor Okpalla LGA while in Mbaitoli, Ohaji/ Egbema LGAs, the elections were also inconclusive also because some wards were cancelled due to what the Returning Officer described as irregularities. “In view of the closeness of the race, the governorship election in Imo State is hereby declared inconclusive. It will be inappropriate for me to announce the result that is inconclusive,” said Professor Akubundu who added that “so I won’t be able to declare a winner in the governorship election in Imo State”, declared. P.M.NEWS, however, gathered that Franklin Mathias the Returning Officer for Ohaji/ Egbema LGA who claimed that there was no election in the area was confronted by party agents with results from the wards which he duly signed. Franklin did not deny that he signed the results. It was gathered that the Franklin has been handed over to the Police. P.M.NEWS gathered that supporters of Okoroacha had descended on the collation centre this morning, calling for the release of the remaining election results. Meanwhile, Owerri, the Imo State capital is still smarting from the tension-soaked governorship election that ended in a stalemate last night. A combined team of mobile policemen and some Army personnel are now patrolling the streets of the capital to keep the peace, as opposition party supporters reject the outcome of the election. Elections are now pending in the remaining four LGAs which will decide the winner between Okorocha and Ohakim who are now running neck-and neck. In the three councils of Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Mbaitoli, elections were voided in many wards due to widespread irregularities. In the remaining one, Ngor-Okpala, elections did not hold at all because polling materials arrived very late. The INEC office in Owerri says it is now awaiting the decision of the commission's headquarters in Abuja on a date for the rerun of the election in the affected council areas. But it is not likely to hold before the weekend, INEC's spokesperson in Imo, Samuel Bassey, told P.M. News on phone this morning. Drama and tension characterised the proceedings yesterday at the INEC collation centre in Owerri. Before the returning officer discontinued the announcement of the results, party agents of the APGA and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) accused him of pandering to external pressure to skew the results in favour of Governor Ohakim of the PDP. The opposition party agents and those of the PDP exchanged verbal attacks while the event was being transmitted live on national television, but security men promptly waded in to calm the situation. The camp of the APGA candidate, Okorocha has expressed the confidence it would win the contest if the rerun ordered by INEC is allowed to be free and fair. An APGA chieftain, Martins Agbaso, told P.M.News “the will of the people cannot be changed. We have proven to them (PDP) that we are more popular than they thought.” The Governor Ohakim's camp has also said its chances are "very bright.” Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Henry Ekpe, told P.M.NEWS on phone this morning that "the four council areas in question are all PDP strongholds, and we are positive we would be victorious during the rerun.” |
