What if I prayed that as Nigerian government pursued the case of Lear so shall your case to be pursued in the time of your need. Would you accept this as a prayer or a Curse.

I am happy for Zainab!
I am happy the Government responded Responsibly!

I am not happy with the way they Treated the case of Lear Shuraibu! Are you happy about it?
...and I will answer you like this;

1. You are unintelligent
2. You do not follow events but emotions
3. I doubt if you're capable of deep thinking

Leah Sharibu's case is a war-situation. How do you want FG to handle it? To fire a nuclear weapon into her location? Do you understand that if Leah Sharibu's negotiation is not handled with the sensitivity it requires, she might be killed?

While you're at it with your juvenile-rants (curse).....at least have the decency to spell Leah Sharibu's name (not Lear Shuraibu) appropriately. Do you even know who you're seemingly talking of?

If it was a cartel that planted the drug with her name on it, i don't think she is the first and only victims.
Can the government investigate and free others?
You're right on this. I think extensive investigation is still ongoing and Abike Dabiri's office is following up on virtually all the "awaiting-death-row" victims. Aside from Zainab, virtually all others have been established to be guilty

So wonderful that the government fired on all arsenals to secure the release of this woman from the gallows in Saudia Arabia. I hope the same effort will be put into securing the release and repatriation of other Nigerians in various countries around the world, mind you not all of them are guilty of the charges talking from my firsthand when I had the chance of visiting various prisons and concentration camps in my work travelling to see what is going on. We so divided and lack trust in the government but I hope the federal government will bridge the gap so it won't look like a certain part of the country or religion is been favorited or left to suffer..

Thank God for her.

But Nigeria my country!
Suppose this girl's father isn't rich and connected!?
Suppose no one can reach the President on her behalf!?
Suppose no one to convince the security network to fish out the syndicate!?

She would have been forgotten!
Judged as a commons drug criminal!
Left alone to watch the sword cut her head!
Left alone to weep and cry for the callousness of the wicked!

Leah Shuaibu didn't qualify for this!
She's a commoner with no one to plead her case and life continues as usual. She's someone else's daughter!

May you not fall into the trap of your enemies!
May satanic setups never succeed over your LIFE!
The girls father did what any sensible person should do, rich or not, connected or not. Instead of ranting and raving with hatred and ignorance, he simply wrote a petition to the right quarters and momentum picked up. It is disingenuous and down-right mischevious to bring Leah Sharibu into this equation. Each case is unique and being pursed.

Hope u all have seen how the government quickly interven but has the same government ask questions about most Nigerians who are detention and death role in Asians country?
The government will claim they know the law and why carry drugs without even hearing from them if they were framed up like this girl.
While we cannot rule out cases (minute I'll say,) of "frame-ups" on drug cases of Nigerians caught in Asia, I dare say that it will be infinitesimal. A substantial numbers of those caught in Asia are actually GUILTY. Many of them confessed and many of them were caught during raids.

If you actually read reports on this matter and not given to unneeded clanish emotional sentiments, you would have seen that a methodical procedure was followed to establish Zainab's innocence, from the petition her father wrote the NDLEA, to the covert investigations, to proofs, to confessions from all that played in the set-up and how they framed her, to the names of the culprits involved etc. The report of this investigations was subsequently forwarded to the Saudi govt.

Pray tell, your "cohorts" in Asia, did and had any presented veritable proof or you just want government to intervene for "geopolitical zone"'s sake?

The story of this frame up is not adding up. Has the suspected cartel admitted to the crime?

What do they stand to gain by planting drugs in her luggage?

We need answers to these and many other yet unasked questions.

May God not let any innocent die of sin they do not commit.
Lemme get something, It's not adding up to your logic or to what else exactly? So until the "suspected cartel" "confess", investigations will be suspended?

You better read up and get the full picture of this occurrence before making funny gaffes

This question seem like a way to test the following
1. Awareness of the environment, how much you stay in touch with events in your environment, especially how it relates with your business/job
2. You reasoning and analysis capabilities
3. How quickly you can think on your feet
4. How you can engage in conversations and contribute meaningfully to national discourse and bring it down to how it affects the company who is about to give you job.
5. How versatile you are

And who told you my explanation was what the court bases judgement upon? My simple submission is premised on the principle that you don't go malign people as you can't imagine the extent of the damage you can cause.

You are the one exposing yourself. My first comment was in response to a fellow who claimed that 12 years was suitable for libel. I replied to him that 12 years was extreme for libel. You then jumped into the matter and specifically claimed that no 12 years was not extreme for libel, and that "we" should all be aware of the seriousness of libel. I then showed you the law and proved that libel is a minor offence. Now you want to change tack? In the course of this thread all your comments specifically addressed libel and not any of the other charges.

Do you suffer from memory loss?
Absolutely not, especially when you obviously fail to understand contextual issues. Pray tell, does it make sense for you to conclude a 12year in isolation without looking at the context or the facts of the judgement of the case? What then was the basis of your "12 years for libel is extreme"?

In the course of my submission, I did mention libel because it is the reference point. I will not be cherry picking other grounds for suit when libel covers everything........

Just like I said, trying to be clever by half.

Of course it is. What does section 375 of the Criminal Code Act of Nigeria say?

Maximum sentence is 2 years

Enlighten yourself before commenting in the public sphere.
This is where some of you lot tries to be clever by half, yet only exposes your "incomplete education" and thinking. Did you read the details of the judgement?

Justice Yusuf Halilu of a High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, convicted Wala, who is the convener of Citizens Action to Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN) in 3 of the 4-count charges brought against him by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

Justice Halilu convicted him fo managing unlawful association, public incitement and defamation of character over social media posts against the chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abdullahi Muhammed.
Try comprehending the above and if you fail at that.....

I read that that guy lost his father in a road accident when he was ten or twelve. I don't know how true it is, but the cause of the accident and how he was raised/treated after could explain why he doesn't seem as proud.
It could also be that he is just an introvert.
I don't think this story is correct.

In a country where the trial of terrorists take forever, and some are even freed under very suspicious circumstances and programs...

I am not saying the man should not be punished if found guilty of criminal defamation, but there has to be some balancing acts to ensure justice for all Nigerians (regardless of public status), including victims of terrorist attacks, which should carry an effective type of capital punishment to deter others.

Our judicial system does need upgrading / overhauling...
If you're truly about justice for all, then you will not condemn justice being dispensed correctly in a case because of other cases where justice is yet to be truly dispense. Address each by its merit. Is this liable case properly executed and justice done? YES.

While I don't feel it is right for the "boy" to disrespect the "appointed" protocols, I am disappointed in the way some churches go about delivering the message of Christ Jesus these days!

Jesus welcomed everyone, the downtrodden, the poor, the rich, the homeless, the wealthy, the strong the weak...to be able to 'feed' them the word so that they may be healed, saved, blessed and go on to preach the Gospel.

The Church these days is going against the teachings and practice of Christ.

This is disheartening!
What is disheartening?

The downtrodden, the poor etc that was welcomed were not reported to be rude and disregard protocols.
