There's a difference please, theirs is consensual , the ladies actually want to get married unlike the Hausa that gives out their daughters without the daughters consent.
Who told you they don't consent to it?
Have you ever seen a Hausa/Fulani girl that said she was forced into a marriage? Or you talk base on the fake news you mostly read online?

Am not a Muslim or Hausa, but the way the southerners insult their northern counterparts, you'll think they are not also guilty of this same act. It's wrong for a 15 years old to get married but it's not wrong for a 15 years old to fvck different d!cks, that's according to the southerners.

Hypocrites everywhere.

in essence you want him to put someone else's daughter to subjugation and poverty so you can claim man of the house.

Op, there is no pressure to marry, if you are complaining about bills then you are not as financially. stable as you would have us believe. Sending her to school is something you ought to do because you want to with no strings attached, not because you want to marry her, if you marry her now, she won't have enough experiences to upgrade her life, she will always be your shadow. But then that is what you want.

If you can't wait for her to mature a little, then you don't really love her at all. let her choose you, don't pressurize her
Ok. Slow down madam, I think you've mixed some things up
1. The primary issue is that the guy want's to settle down, not that he wants to educate the girl. Life is complicated at times and present this kind of chicken-egg situation.
2. Pragmatically speaking, it is the responsibility of the girl's parents to send her to school and not the guy's. If he does it, then he's either magnanimous or "investing"; I guess that is why some people with deep introspection sees it as a gamble, if they are not married.
3. I am curious about what you mean by "she won't have enough experiences to upgrade her life" ... Like she would be uneducated? She would not experience school life? or lemme think otherwise, like she would not be "sampled" by other boyfriends? She will not be free to attend parties? I can't think of what she will miss, if she will be educated. She will compete with all her peers on equal footing, she may probably loose a year or so when she goes to put to bed (and may not, if she's strong). Check this! She could probably end up being more "upgraded" than all her peers in 10-20yrs time.
4. On #3 above let me give you few classic examples.
a. Kanu Nwankwo married Amarachi when she was 18. Amarachi is an Architect today (studied in England)
b. Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde was wedded at 18. In fact was in Yaba Tech when my junior brother was there years back. Omotola think dropped 2x....we all know how "upgraded" Omotola is today
c. Ijeru Aghahowa was in my wife's class back in University (Year 2/3 Law) when she got married. I think today she probably runs one of the biggest supermarket in Ikoyi - ("upgraded" +)
d. Tara Fela-Durotoye was in class with them. She also got married in school.... - "Upgraded" +++

I don't think any of these women live in there husband's shadow.....they are holding their own grounds and doing well.

Bros, marriage should be between two matured people. I'm pretty sure you are after the girl because she is still innocent and you feel you can control her. Educating someone does not give you the right to marry her. Let her be. Look for someone older with whom you can build together.
....and you came to the conclusion how?

Tread carefully. A lot of guys have taken this path only to see it backfire. I am not against you sponsoring her bills but don't be surprise to see her leave for another guy.

So I suggest you marry her first, establish a trade for her and then put her through school. But if you can't do this then let her go. Don't tie yourself down to a burden.

You shouldn't even be complaining about this. You don't get to earn their trust simply because you are financially stable. Sex predators come in different from. Her parent shouldn't even allow her to visit you in the first place. sad

Hi peeps, I am in love with an 18 years old lady who is from a very poor background as mine, I will be 30 this year and I intend settling down maritally this year or early next year, I would have loved her to gain admission before doing anything marriage with her.

I have discussed going back to school with her and getting a trade along, by her consent to it I have gave her money to enroll for jamb and NECO exam which will make her secure admission this year, the jamb result is out and OK pending NECO exam which will start next week.

My problem is the parent are financially handicapped to contribute a dime to her education and we are not married that means the whole stuff is on my head, I would have loved to marry this year if she was already in school or a graduate, I am the first son with responsibility of putting my younger ones through school. I feel I will be shouldering a lot of responsibility, the relationship is just one way sided and the parents don't give a breathing space whenever she spends some hours late in my house, like reminding me we are not married, the whole thing is that I love her, she is a lady I can talk to, and very young and beautiful.

I had posited in the past that INEC will find it difficult to spin this one. It stands logic on the head that you announce a winner (declaration) and then claim "under duress". The the REC not know the meaning and context of "Declaration of winner" under the law? That INEC withheld Okorocha's Cert is even ridiculous. There is nowhere in the law that stipulates that INEC can "cease" a certificate of return.

Factcheck: Did Saraki and Dogara delay 2019 budget for 7 months as claimed by President Buhari in his NTA interview?

12) May 27, 2019: President Buhari signs 2019 budget
https://punchng.com/breaking-buhari-signs-2019-budget/

*** My OBSERVATION: The 2019 budget spent exactly 4 months and 13 days with NASS ( Dec 19, 2018 - May 2, 2019). How the president arrived at 7-months is unclear. Besides, submitting a budget to NASS on December 19th few days into Christmas/New Year recess was very late. The executive should have been more proactive or 'patriotic' by submitting the budget much earlier (say September 2018) knowing the first quarter of 2019 was already locked down for general elections.
You went through all these needless stress for nothing. Is it that your comprehension went on holidays or you came from Mars., or you're willfully deceptive. A simple google search would have saved you of this needless pseudo intelligence (or should I call it "fart-check"wink

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the 2018 appropriation bill containing the year’s federal spending details as approved by the National Assembly.[Date =20th June 2018]

Mr Buhari signed the budget at about 12 noon on Wednesday inside his office at the presidential villa Abuja.

The total budget is N9.1 trillion, up from the N8.6 trillion estimates he submitted to the Assembly on November 7, 2017.

I leave you to do the math....or do you want to "fart-check" that too?

Politics › Re: Cooking Gas Consumers Will No Longer Own Cylinders – FG by mapet: 8:49am On May 22, 2019
Teacher1776:
Who benefits from this policy? The consumers or the manufacturers of the cylinders?
What are the problems created by the existing practice?
And by the way who are the cylinders makers bid to benefit from this arrangement? We need to know them.
1. First off, there is a problem brewing in the downstream domestic Gas (LPG) distribution sector. According to stats, we are about to have glut (over-supply) in the market.
2. Ironically, domestic gas penetration is very low. Why? few factors namely (a) cost of acquisition of Gas Cylinders. Simply put, if you tell Mama Nkechi to buy a Cylinder for N11,500 (while she's yet to buy gas in it) when she can buy Kerosine for N200 and get to cook her food, How do you explain to her that Gas is the cheaper and long-term sustainable option? (b) people still use firewood and Charcoal to cook. How do you tell the average house-hold that they need to free up wood for more value extraction and export; and that charcoal is dirty fuel?
3. If house-holders can be eased of the burden of acquiring gas cylinders, then they can buy gas in quantums they can afford, even as low as N500. To bridge this problem, govt is incentivising the manufacturers of cylinders , to allow them manufacture larger volumes and recoup their monies over time. (check the works of NCDMB and BOI)
4. Problem with existing practices? (a) Not enough scale (Gas cylinders in circulation are damn too small) (b) Many of the Cylinders are sub-standard and some need to be certified safe for domestic use (c) with not enough cylinders, we are likely to have glut in the market soon. If this happens, we will resort to flaring.
5. Cylinder Manufacturers benefits? Local sufficiency, jobs and local capacity to develop our Gas sector

Trust me this is still a long journey, but a worthy endeavour

Indeed we are becoming emotional when we begin to infer from where Saraki made his money from. I doubt that we are wiser than the court from the CCB up to the supreme court. Saraki showed evidence of constant financial remittances from sales of rice and sugar. Whether it's true or not is left for the court to decide. They decided and said it's true.

We are not here to be judge's over the moral standing of anybody. If we were to do that then all of them from the various presidents to the least LG chairman are all criminals!

Excellent point you mentioned that dealing with corruption does not deter investors. I must note, however, that the VP clearly stated that the FG could confiscate your properties without any corruption allegation tied to you. While this is true, the outside world looks on and are not blind to what's happening in Nigeria. How does a Saraki, whom the supreme court acquitted, get to have same properties that were subject to investigation seized on flimsy grounds, while the Gandujes and Amaechis, and Tinubus, and Kyaris, and Babangidas, and Jonathans, and Obasanjos go Scot free?

The outside world simply knows that any day someone in government isn't happy with you they can easily confiscate your properties, and even when you go to court and win, the FG can hold onto said properties without having to explain to anybody.

We can hate Saraki all we want, but Magu and his EFCC are confused.
1. You introduced Saraki, not me. You are the one making a case for him where he is not the central focus. I asked you not to get emotional, because Saraki+rice+sugar+whatever is not relevant in the validity of this law. The interpretation of this law to mean scaring away investors is what I find ridiculous.
2. The focus of this topic is on the position of the law wrt unexplained assets and wealth. The law is good and will help the society. A law is a law. It is not invalid because it "favours" a Tinubu and not a Saraki. This is a law set out to prevent, deter and punish criminal acqusition of wealth and properties. That is what it is
3. You refer to the outside world. In "The Outside World"(US & Europe), unexplained wealth laws are in full force. The outside world had been watching us from time immemorial; they've seen and are appalled at how our citizens acquired unexplained wealth, bring it into their countries, buying luxury properties and Yatches, Jets etc. For example, the UK is currently probing a 15m Euros undeclared property linked to Saraki.. ask yourself, why should someone have a property that the he or she cannot explain the source?

explain that? Can these people explain the source of all that wealth?
1. The Wife and Son of the president are not covered by immunity. The law says they can be called to explain the source of their wealth.

2. Meanwhile, do you know the wife of the president had been an entreprenuer and the Managing Director of her businesses before the husband became president. I guess if she's requested to prove the source of her wealth, she can show through the business and financial records of her businesses. As for her son, if he can show proof that he's a dependant and his mother bought it for him (for example), then he should have no problem.

That guy you quoted made a valid point. You are also correct in your assertions, but the truth remains that Nigeria is hell in every sense of the word from lack of electric power , to insecurity, to a failing economy, to every other ill experienced in this country.

Now add the above to the VP telling the world that your assets could be seized without corruption allegations. Yeah, give the investors more reasons not to come. Why should they invest in a country that disrepects the rule of law?

Using Saraki's case as an example, that case went from the CCB all the way up to the supreme court, with the man proving with documents that he made his money from proceeds of sales of rice and sugar. He won his case! Now a confused EFCC chairman is going after same properties that were deemed okay by all the court's in the country.

If you were an investor seeing all these would you invest in such a country that brazenly disregards the courts?
First and foremost, fighting corruption does not detter investors. There is no data that supports that assertion. If I may add, FDI had increased post 2019. Any "investor" that cannot come until we "stop fighting corruption" is not an investor

2. Equating the supposed state of Nigeria as a reason not to implement an already existing law is tantamount to leaving in denial.

3. Saraki still has cases to answer. He made his money selling what? Let's not get emotional, else I'll ask you to tell that the families of those who lost their monies in SGB. But that said, the point here is that the laws says unexplained assets be explained or forfeited, what is wrong in that?

Don't know why everyone above me are insulting the lawyers...It may be unfair but it is correct..Same thing in USA...  The government can take your money on suspicion without ever filing a criminal complaint, it is left for you to prove how you got the money. People always assume it is government that is meant to prove you got it illegally..
Bros,

Unfortunately, the reality of Nairaland is that it is laced with i.diots. Everyone with a modicum of a brain knows that standard practice all over the world is that you explain the source of your "unexplained" asset or wealth. Here on Nairaland, it takes a f.o.o.l to start on a foolish trajectory, then bang! i.dioitas will be let loose
