anonimi: Instead of building five more bus stops, how about completing just one phase of the light rail after all these decades? What of the waterways and ferry services? Not forgetting the dilapidated roads all over the state, especially the feeder roads? How many mega cities with less population than Lagos have metro since forever Don't we have any shame? I would have expected you were following the credible submissions of people, especially from 9jaRealist's expose on the status of "phase1" of the light rail project. As such I did not need to over-labour an already well articulated submission 9jaRealist: :
It’s not an “either-or” situation, as both are not mutually-exclusive and would ultimately complement each other.
The Light Rail project is a much more complex and expensive project, and since the Oshodi Interchange is a PPP (private-public partnership) project, it was probably the lower hanging fruit of the two in a situation of relatively scarce resources. Nonetheless, work continued (and continues) under the Ambode administration on the Light Rail project, particularly on the rail bridge over the Lagoon that is now well-advanced and headed towards completion. There was also the agreement entered into with Alstom (the global rail infrastructure giant) to electrify the Blue Line and to source and finance the acquisition of modern rolling-stock (instead of the previously-sought used NYC subway cars).
The Lagos Light Rail project also succinctly illustrates the constraints of Nigeria’s peculiar overly-centralized “federal” system. The Red Line was the first line that was proposed to be built because it would utilize the Nigeria Railway Corporation’s existing right-of-way. Unfortunately, the previous federal administration interminably delayed the approval to use said RoW, compelling the Lagos Government to change course and embark on the Blue Line instead. This however meant an extensive redesign and realignment of the Blue Line, which was initially designed to end at Iddo. In addition, it took the NNPC over 3 years to remove/relocate its pipelines along the Blue Line’s RoW, causing delays.
Finally, when discussing the cost of the Light Rail project, bear in mind that when it was launched in 2008 the exchange rate was approximately N118/$1. Presently it is approximately N363/$1 (after rising to as much as N520/$1 a couple of years ago). Accordingly, if (for example) the project is to cost $1 billion (N118 billion at launch), it means that the Lagos government now has to find an ADDITIONAL N245 billion just to be able to pay for the same project (that is, even without accounting for any project or cost variation). Given all of the foregoing, the Bus Reform Initiative (pursuant to which the Oshodi Interchange was built) was probably the far more expedient project. < If you did (or not) your recourse to a needless and overused 2011 report, something that events have overtaken, was absolutely unnecessary. Besides my submission on "pin-in-an-ocean" was within a narrow context of what the Bus-Park serves in the larger scheme of things; within the larger context, did you miss the underlined part below? mapet: .....
I believe we need about 7-10 more of these Bus Terminal in the following places
1. Epe 2. Ikorodu 3. Sango 4. Ipaja/Idimu Axis 5. Badagry 6. Badore/Ajah 7. Isale-Eko/Marina and other "hot-spots"
All these should be aligned with the intra-city rail network..... |

Even If people begin to use the facilities they must ensure they finish the structure or project to 100 percent completion.
I’m not talking about servicing or maintenance yet. Bros, Let's learn to walk our "own" "waka", forget Dubai. I am telling you completing this 100% is given. Just like Autojosh posited, if TBS has been going 3+yrs and running strong, this will not only be completed, it will be optimally used. There are bigger issues....This bus park is a pin in the Ocean for a state like Lagos. We should be considering how we will build at least 5 more. |

Actually, it is not all project that require 100% completion before you launch. Some requires a stretched "go-live" period and for some you may start before everything is in place, provided the "Pre-startup Audits" gives the go ahead. |

Be good bro.. I think we should rephrase his submission as a cautionary advisement. I understand the Blue-line has a direct connect to MM1 and it is the only bus service allowed at the airport; such that Airport pick-ups/traffic can be decongested and people can pick-up or get connecting transportation from the Oshodi Interchange. With this, we have a security challenge on our hands. We must rid Oshodi of Urchins, Gangs and Cults who are potential robbers |

It seems Jamb and Professor Oloyede are more focused on the accolades that come from remitting excess funds to the government's coffers to the detriment of improving the exam process for the students. If over seventy percent of students who wrote the exam across the country failed, then Jamb should take a long hard look at itself. IF over 70% failed to meetup 50% scores, then the Problem is NOT with JAMB, the problem is with secondary schools who collect exhorbitant fees and dont deliver quality education to the students. Imagine a sec school that collects over #60k from students and pays Teachers #20k per month. What do we expect from their students Blaming schools looks like living in denial. The simple truth is that students needs to take 98% responsibility. Students of today on the average are not studious enough, there is too much distraction (SM, TV and other stuffs) and they have an entitlement mentality. When you believe everything should be served to you on a platter, when you have not developed the perspective to see life as a battle-field and that at some stages you need to fight for your future, this is what you get. bentben: So I will try to be as brief as possible, because story is very long.
Started having an affair with this close friend of my wife who now happens to be my colleague in the office now... I helped her got the job before we started having se. X. I have been her target, Infact that was why she came so close to my wife, I'm introverted, so that was the only way she could get close.
Yes she's not happy in her marriage, because her husband is promiscuous and don't give her attention . She used me to ease her pain. I consented to the affair because I kind of felt I was assisting her ease the pain in the marriage... I was totally wrong... I goofed, along the line we fell in love with each other... Deeply in love, even we knew what we were doing was wrong.
Every fuc, king persons in my neighbourhood and office feels I'm straff1ng her, but we were never caught in the act. The more I try to resist and stop this whole affair, the more the bond, considering we work in same office space.
She wants more attention than I give to my wife her supposedly friend .. She flares up most time when I pick my wife's call... Forgetting we are close family friends and can easily be caught. She steal kisses whenever she visits, not minding my wife is in the kitchen. We both have kids... That are friends.
NOW THE BIG ISSUE :
Because of the less attention she's getting from me, considering the fact that I want to play safe, she has decided to start straff1ng our boss who seems to be giving her the whole attention as it seems now.
Our boss his a nice handsome guy.
Myself and our boss are very close Pal, he knew I'm so close to her but choose to get is own pound of the flesh... Even though he claim he wasn't... But I was privileged to hack and read their chat and got knowledge of their sexcapade...
She still wants an affair with me, she's fuc. k1ng sleeping with two married people in an office. I found this very hurtful, shameful, disgraceful and disgusting... Even though what I'm also doing is terrible... I'm trying to heal and stop this whole affair... I took some days off work to clear my head already.
I'm deeply hurt by her actions, blocked her on all social media handles.
I need matured advice please on how to scale through all this without going back to my vomit looking that we work in same office space and I got to see her every other day.
This story is no fiction... Pls bash me, but don't forget to drop a word of advice for me and probably her.
I'm using a new moniker... I have been an active nairalander... I want to hide my shame.. kindly also ignore my typo... It was done on my phone.
Thank you.
MOD will appreciate if it can get to FP plsssssss. Go to church, confess to a very senior and matured priest/pastor. Request help to help break the news to your wife and seek forgiveness. Pray she forgives you (she is within her right not to)...if she forgives you, call the "strange woman" and tell her that you have moved on and nothing can ever happen. Chances are that this "strange woman" will blackmail you. Don't let her tell your wife before you do (she will eventually tell your wife). She will try to destroy you, your image, your job etc....... these are the consequences of "strange women" Ps: I am not judging you....... |

Alero3Arubi: God knows I tried not to get involved in this conversation but well... Ok so here is my contribution. The government is not the only problem yes but it is a major problem. How? Policies. Ok say you decided to do a car tracking business and you need SIM cards for that purpose, now the govt comes in with a new policy that any sim where a call is not made in 90dys will be blocked. Will you go and be changing the Sims of all the cars you are putting tracker inside every 90days? .. Another eg. This mobile banking that has sprung up small SMEs that do funds transfer in remote areas and local neighbourhood's, if the govt clamps down on it and says it is illegal what happens? .... Look take it or leave it, laziness or greed is not a country problem but leadership and policies. If the system is in place there is minimal issues. Do you think the whites are better people, more hardworking, or have good morals than an average black? The answer is no. The system in place will not let them get away with crime so they can't commit it. I struggle to get this examples of yours. 1. Your Sim example does not add up. (a) SIMs activitation and deactivation rule to the best of my knowledge have both business and security connotations and implications. When the country places security above any other interest, I think it is the best interest of the collective nation. (b) If you put a sim in car tracker, it starts to "beep" immediately. By doing this it sends signals to the control center and as such the car is under watch. In this scenario, the SIM is active and cannot be deactivated 2. Wrt Mobile banking, how can govt clamp down on something they licensed in the first place. Can I advise that you research more on this. Based on your two questions, I'm tempted to believe that people need to understand government policies and what purposes they serve. 3. Do I think whites are better people, more hardworking, or have good morals than an average black? Better people; absolutely not. More hardworking; definitely not. Good morals; may be. One thing I believe advanced countries have that built their system is a strong value system, where almost everyone are taught and holds on to the ethos of their existence and hardly depart from it. We Nigerians are either looking for freebies, help from this-and-that and on the average will not work hard. Look at our artisanal sector with reported cases of people not completing apprenticeship. No wonder (for example) the Togolese, Benenoise and Ivorians are sweeping plumbing, tiling, painting and stone works jobs in Nigeria |

Oga, how many Nigerians have the luxury of just traveling to either America or UK for a few months on what they've earned and for genuine reasons that the authorities at the embassy won't look into your documents. Fact is, they do background checks on information given before pass is given. You just may not know. True. Which brings me back to the fundamental issue....."many people who want to travel, ideally have no business doing so at that moment". If you're yet to be financially and purpose-ready (& I consider even those who get contributions for the trip), not only will you encounter problems when you get there, you will also be a burden. That is why our citizens get attacked in virtually all countries they reside (from South Africa, to Malay, China, India etc) |
