refreshrate: Banking is no longer what it used to be All the flash that came with it in the past ...gone!
Now you see young people under heavy pressure wearing suits to cover up ...& owing heavily just to keep up with the jonses.
What baffles me the most? Every business in the country goes through these banks yet some people cannot see profitability in them despite entire business process being laid bare to the bankers when the businesses apply for loans. Instead what you'll be hearing is "I've been in this industry for 14 years..." who you epp? Even yourself?
Most of them despite the huge salary, once they're kicked out of the system start gasping for air like fish out of water.
Not to talk of now, if no be salary cut, na employment cut, tension everywhere...and you call that a life?
Easiest way to ruin a guy? Employ him into banking straight out of NYSC ...then leave him there for over 5 yrs. The stop functioning as normal human beings.
Look closely, I'm sure there's an example near you to confirm this. You are very right bro....VERY RIGHT..but,this applies to the simple majority who do not have plans. Such category of people can also be found nearly in every sphere of life. Especially the oil sector. |

ayobams: The question has been answered earlier on but let me enlighten you more. This is how it works ;staff (mostly marketers) are laid off and the vacancies are almost immediately occupied by supposed value adding existing or new staff with promises of exciting businesses and depposits. Your survival basically is a function of 1. The profitability of your branch 2. The deposits and the portfolio you manage and 3. Your disposition towards your job. No stories, just bring money and you are free. Not just money too; low cost deposits. |

Rebarobyn: But I know quite a number of people that have been disengaged over the last few months, most of them are marketers, how do you explain the fact that banks need marketers and yet marketers are being fired and no one is recruiting You think you know but whatever they tell you may not be the truth; they may have been asked to go due to poor appraisals. The banking sector is not the Civil or Public service where you are guaranteed of 35years whether you are redundant or not. Survival is STRICTLY based on performance hence the high pay you get as a core or full staff. |

diggler: I'd disagree with u a bit on that ma.
As an industry insider, i can tell u that marketers r the only hope these banks have going forward.
As a matter of fact, banks have started streamlining their operations departments to make em more efficient & able to deliver exceptional banking experiences for the customers whom the marketers bring in.
The simple effect of this is that redundant operations staff r now being redeployed to marketing or shown the door if they cant take the heat.
One of the industry giants noted for its wide reach has a new policy that sees to it that ppl of a certain paygrade should not be in operations instead they r told to generate business to justify their high pay.
So If anyone is planning on going into banking & doesnt have business generation mindset, then forget it especially with the current climate. Bro, you have said all i would have said. Kudos. I wonder why people just put up shallow write ups online especially in this era where we have lots of online readers. Poor research work and an absolutely empty thesis. |

Because you donate to help people doesn't mean you can dictate how they live their lives.
The point of charity is not so that you can lord over people you're helping.
Because they're surviving, that's why they're enjoying.
Does having sex imply that they aren't building their lives. You sound ridiculous and judgmental as hell.

in that eagles squad the only northerner is Ahmed musa. there was a single Yoruba player, ekong from CRS and Moses from Edo state. all other 8-10 players (are from the south east). I guess we can also call them Biafran eagles.
Yes Buhari's appointments have been lopsided. But this federal character thing will only keep pulling us back.
if we want to continue using federal Character let's make sure when the eagles are playing we have
-2 sw players, 2nw players, 2 se players, 2 Ss players, 2NC players at least on the pitch at all times. - if a player from any region gets injured or has to be substituted then someone from his region must replace him - if there is no one from his region them let him remain on the field.
that's how dumb federal principle is It is not a dumb principle; it is only practised by dumb individuals who lack basic intelligence and are ethnic bigots. |

Statsocial: Huh to be sincere I am jealous.... Lalasticlala I think we all need to see this.
We need to realise Nigeria can't fund all its universities to World Class. We need to pick 6(one from each region) flagship universities like the ivy leagues or C9 of China and fund it excessively like Ghana funds the university of Ghana, so that those universities can in turn help to solve some of our top most national problems. Those universities would be 1) Mandated to reduce their various enrollment sizes to NUC recommended capacities. 2) Encouraged to put more emphasis on postgraduate/research education. 3) Allowed to determine its fees in line with an agreed aggregate with FG(Not expensive but not outrageously low) 4) Encouraged to do away with Catchment policies and Elds consideration for undergraduate enrollment. 5) Encouraged to remain comprehensive universities but with a degree of speciality in certain disciplines e.g UI for Medicine/Surgery, ABU for Military research, UNN for renewable energy 6) Mandated to do away with ASUU 7) Encouraged to tap into industry partnership for more income.
Excessively funded by govt. Recommendation would be to allocate additional funds of 25 billion per university. Very intelligent write up; i had to comment. Kudos to you. |

samuk: This happened on Thursday 17th August, 2017.
Dr. Ogiugo was summoned to Obas's Palace over land issue because he constituted an impediment to the peaceful resolution of the matter by his Odionwere.
He bluntly refused to kneel down before the Oba to say his own side of the issue at stake.
Being a traditional setting, it was sensed that Ogiugo came fully armed and was immediately asked to remove his top (shirt).
As he was removing his shirt, some charms (ekhuae and akpalode) fell from his pocket.
That resulted in curses being placed on him and declaration as "oghion Oba".
. Lol..smh..If this is true, i can sense the anger felt by the oba. It is just a very messy situation. |

On a more serious note, this is another reason Africans would always remain in the medieval age, centuries behind civilized countries. Its more irritating to note that not a few educated-illiterate youths here are hailing the act of the Oba. Such shame to my generation. just2endowed: If the income or profit comes from investing in risk free securities such as government securities etc, then the economy is doom. And these huge profits comes from the criminal ideas from the cbn governor.
Let's me give u guys example. As at last year, the cbn ban individual investors from investing in treasury bills if they do not have minimum 50 million naira to invest in primary market from the initial 100,000. These gives banks to take control of TB in primary market, and in turn sell to individuals investors in the secondary market after they have profit from it,and these business is traded everyday.
For others that keep there money In the banks, these banks will use ur money to buy these security in these risk free securities and there by making up to 18% on TB or government bonds after paying peanut of 5% as Interest on deposit You can as well keep the monies in your house and see how delicate it is to keep funds outside it's proper home. We have to stop this backward attitude of criticising negatively. Constructive criticisms ll help us all. Lastly, have you ever owned or banked with a foreign bank? If you have or know who does, you ll know the charges here are peanuts. |

Your Bible says no man has seen God ..How did you know that the image is that of God who you have not seen....Besides, it makes sense to even revere that of your pastor rather than unknown art work and particularly that guy that starred in the Jesus of Nazareth movie that was shot in the 70s that has become image of worship, for we are all gods... The scripture, twice , stated that we are god's but die like the heathen because of ignorance.... And who told you saints are dead? How well do you even read your Bible? Please, dont waste your data on these people; enlighten yourself more with it. They keep talking about images when they buy objects with the pictures of a fellow man and revere same. I laugh at these people. |

Themandator: It is the priest that is upping their standard through revelations ...The church standard has remained static.. go to mass, pray to a dead saint to help you pray to God , baptised your members with sprinkler, construct and persist images all over the church premises and allow societies to be formed as follower of those persons the images represents who gather at it foot to pray and hope meetings
You guys are quick to spew nonsense about gullible followers but in truth if is the catholic church that is home to the largest numbers of gullible so called Christians ....Just like the ex priest stated, they are so lazy they don't even ask pertinent questions regarding they believe ...Speaking in tongue and healing service makes him unpriest like even though that is actually the works Christian S are commissioned to do. ... Do you know now religion became the centre point of catholic church...Or you reckon , pope was a Christian title, do you that it was somebody down the line of the catholic church that introduced image into the church, that if was never originally part of the church. Well, what about followers of pentecostal churches who buy objects that carry the images of their GO and revere such? What would you call that? Revere the images of God or the images of man, choose one? You can now see you shot yourself in the leg? |
