Quality20: Your write-up is very much on point. Honestly, I do meet ladies 27 and above who are seeking husbands but then what gets me worried is that some of them are so beautiful and I begin to wonder, 'how can a lady as beautiful as this not have a suitor? Or what's d problem? Have they probably slept with many men and they no longer see the need to marry them? Or are they infected with STDs etc. Even as I type this, I'm still doubting a very beautiful lady who wants me to marry her and she is about 30+,,, How can such a beautiful lady, who works out and we'll educated convince me that men haven't seen her all these years b4 we met? Bro, dont be fooled. I repeat, DO NOT BE FOOLED. |

ImperialYoruba: I have come to realize that Atiku is not talking to the nation with these short rhetorics he dishes out. He uses them to control the minds of Atikulants so they stay glued to his charade.
Does anyone know the truth behind these banks leaving Nigeria?
Ok, do you all recall a bank known as Societe Generale? These Swiss banks are leaving for similar reasons. For diplomatic reasons and to build more cooperation with Switzerland, particularly in area of repatriation of stolen wealth, Nigeria has overlooked the crimes committed by HSBC and UBC as conduits for channelling huge sums of stolen money out of Nigeria and into Switzerland secret accounts. Instead of prosecuting them they have been asked to get out.
As we speak, Switzerland is sitting on our national wealth and refusing to release them. HSBC has stolen wealth by people like Atiku, who dip hands in our national treasury and launder them to foreign banks in Nigeria and who turn around from there to deposit the money into banks in foreign soil.
PDP is a minority in the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is part of the sovereign government. So why is the Presidential candidate of PDP defending syndicate banks that aid them to steal national wealth?
Whats Atiku's justification in defending HSBC and UBC?
See here.... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-17/nigeria-fires-back-at-hsbc-after-bank-criticizes-president

I would wager a testicle the OP hasn't interacted with 0.5% of all Igbos alive today. So, unless proven that 100% of the Igbo population accepts this practice as the only acceptable process, his decision to heap everyone, with no exception, into the same basket remains inaccurate and my conclusion valid. Lol. Grammar. Well, in statistics, if 51% from a sample population bring forth a certain result, then it is assumed that population is what that 51% bring forth as there would always be exceptions to certain principles/laws etc. |

2buffagain: What is actually "Right"?
Throwing money away to satisfy frivolous "they must know" desires, or bundling up that same money and putting it into trust funds for each of your unborn children so they can start their life when they hit age 20 with a cool $500,000+ dollars....actually moving the family generations forward in a meaningful way? (Does the typical African even know what investing is?)
From experience, Poverty does not leave the mind even if money enters people's hands. The average Nigerian does not ask "Why" and does not question things...preferring instead to give priority to "Ha, what would THEY think" or "Hmm, THEY must know today that I/we have arrived"? Who is the THEY and why should you care?
As someone said, other cultures in Nigeria are more sensible and pragmatic as the world is no longer what it was during the times these customs of old prehistoric men were formed. Traditionists bore me, as they are incapable of independent thought past the dictates of humans like me and you who formed things according to their own understanding in their time. You live in a very different time with very different realities. If anything , it shows you do not believe in yourselves enough to make the right changes to things. It is the sign of a collective of weak minds.
Even jews, the most hyper-traditionalists of all time, do not go all the way back to israel just to marry. It is an excess. A waste of resources.
Tried giving Igbo families a chance one last time but it seems they never fail to over-do the culture thing past what even makes sense. Done with 'em. Bro, i dont know why you have decided to waste energy typing this. You and i know what it truly is to marry; leave those who have refused to grow past these irrelevant trash called tradition. We love to deceive ourselves hence the consistent regression. In my sincerest advice, leave that girl and marry from another tribe; save the differential and invest in your future. A word is enough for the wise. |

ebonflexy: I fix this problem by just generally not pursuing marriage with igbo girls. I'm based in yankee too and the thought of me and mine making tenious trips back to nigeria just to marry is not attractive nor is it economical (~$2000 per person!!!).
Its not like you will get any benefit from marrying her that you won't get from marrying any other woman here that has sense. So bro please if she and her people don't want to have sense, let them marry their own.
Find you a good naija girl in yankee who's parents are there with her and can handle all these things without village involvement. The only thing that should matters is that the bride is given away from her father's house, which can be any where in the world! That's why I like yoruba culture. They are generally more progressive about these things. Igbo will use their culture thing to kill you. You have written it all; i am in Nigeria and i avoid them like a plague. I once dated a so-called ada who was being bleeped mercilessly by 2 yahoo boys behind my back especially yahoo boy 1. If i hadnt found out, i would have paid heavily for her hand in marriage as she had already started to tell me about that traditional crap and i'd get to dance like a fortunate dude not knowing the girl whom i paid heavily on was being bleeped with sex enhancing drugs by nitwits. This is not to mention all the expenses i would have incurred. |

He knew my guy and I knew his babe. His relationship ended like 3 months before mine. I consoled him, as a good friend will. When mine ended... It was his turn to console me. We ended up consoling each other. And the consolation ended in marriage 8 months after. It was like "feem" trick to my ex. He came around to beg. Told him it was over. I had moved on. 3 years down the line.. We have been blessed with 3 kids... 2 sons and 1 daughter including a set of twins...
I am glad I had a side B plan... A contingency boyfriend.
Nobody is single.. Yes. But people don't always marry the people they are currently dating. There is a huge difference between a boyfriend and husband. When husband comes, you suppose know say this one Na marriage. You don't need to date for long.

JohnspeakU: Johnspeak Uwangue: How Not To Get Sacked From Your Workplace
By Johnspeak Uwangue (Human Development Consultant, Talent Manager and Coach)
With the fast rise in the rate of unemployment and poverty, it has become imperative for every employees to secure their jobs no matter how insignificant the job may seem. There are thousands of Unemployed who are fasting and praying, visiting one deliverance house to another just to get a job like yours. As enticing as entrepreneurship is, most African entrepreneurs are regretting quitting their jobs.
Life is like a game of card and whether you are aware or not, you are playing the game. Most people who are not experiencing growth in their lives or business are those who don't know how to play the game so also it is in the workplace. Your degree might get you a good job but it may not determine if you will stay long in your job. Today, I want to share with you just five tips that you can use to secure your job or position for as long as you want.
- Loyalty The loyalty of some employees either to the owner of the company, the head of their department, the wife/husband/boyfriend or girlfriend of their boss etc is the reason why they still have their jobs. You may think they are being foolish, but their foolishness is why they still have a job. Even if you are naturally proud, wisdom demands you fake loyalty until you have been able to gather enough money or experience or contact to move forward. It won't be a bad idea if you keep telling you boss how loyal you are. Humans are naturally selfish, so, no one will lift up another man if they don't believe that they can control you.
- Keep Your Mouth Shut People who always want to say it as they saw it or as they are feeling always die before their time. You might be loyal to your bosses but your mouth can betray your loyalty. If you want to keep your job you must be careful how you talk whether in public or private. Recently, a top editor in a top organization in Nigeria allowed his mouth to put him in trouble. Don't talk bad about your superiors to your colleagues because you don't know who was planted in the company to report what you said. Never you allow your mouth to take away food from your mouth.
- Competency Competency is a card you need to play in order to secure your job forever. You need to develop yourself until no one in your organization is as competent as you in your field. People will always need people who have what they need. Haven't you wondered why some ladies still stick to their abusive partners? He may have character flaws but he may be too good in the other room to let go (this is not my handwriting o!).
- Learn To Play The Workplace Politics Well I have written a whole writeup on workplace politics before and I don't intend to repeat it here. Because of God let me explain a little. Politics is not just about political offices, it has now entered into every organizations and institutions. For you to be able to secure your job you must understand the various politics at play in workplaces. Like, the politics of numbers, the politics of institutions, the politics of relationship etc.
- Have Plans In Place Inasmuch as this writeup is about securing your job, I also believe that you should have an exit plan. Having a realistic exit plan will give you confidence in your job. Most people will ride on you and even withhold your salary if they know that you don't have a choice. Your confidence will make them think otherwise. Please, don't be arrogant or overly confident when you don't have an exit plan otherwise, you will just lose your job for nothing.
Succeed You Must

ritalori2: this writeup is so apt! Different syreams of income makes one relax in the long run. At this age cashing in on the internet advantage millions are online take advantage of any sustsinable online budiness stop being sceptical and missing out on opportunities.
Check my signature for a simple application to use earn online. Apt? Lol. The write up lacks basic statistics. Perhaps he forgot the hawker has to recover the cost of goods sold before he can say he has made money; the farmer also has to recover all costs incurred in growing his crops before he can talk about net gain likewise the driver. You dont look at how much they are with at the end of the day. You need to consider the costs they incured in keeping their machines up. Someone repairs a vehicle with 25k within a week and also makes 30k within that same week. Would you say he earns more than a salary earner whose only cost is cost of transportation and that is not to mention the health implications of such jobs. |
Career › Re: Why You Need To Find A 2nd Source Of Income After Your Salary by mapist(m): 4:27pm On May 26, 2018 |
Opinionated: Divide your salary by 30 days and see what you get (i.e. the number of days in a month and see the funny thing about your salary plan).
For example, an average level-12 worker in the state government civil service earns N60,000.
And this translates to N 60,000÷30= N 2,000 every day. This is less than the amount made daily by an average hawker in the city.
A freshly employed graduate banker in most Nigerian banks earns an average of N120,000 monthly.
So every day, you get N120,000÷30= N4,000 as the daily value for your work-life. By implication, this is less than the amount earned daily by an average driver in the city and in some villages.
If you are a fresh graduate employee in some oil companies, you earn an average of N300,000 monthly. So in a day your work-value is N300,000 ÷ 30= N10,000
This is less than the daily amount earned by an irrigation farmer supplying vegetables to Lagos markets, a tipper driver supplying sand for three block industries and construction sites just 3 times a day and drivers of Dangote trucks who have bought-off the trucks at scrap value and are using them to convey products between villages and the cities for just five business owners.
Hope by now, it is sinking in, right?
And when there is an issue in the family that requires financial assistance, the drivers, hawkers and the rest are looking up to you with a white collar job.
If you are an NYSC member, you don’t need to be told that:
N19,800÷30 = N660 is your worth on a daily basis.
I hope you know that pure water sellers who own a shop, a pepper soup joint and a small Toyota Corolla car to distribute pure water to five restaurants earn more than you and wheel-barrow pushers working on contract for three warehouses probably make more money than you each day.
Wake up and be more productive. We should be more proactive, create room for more income and strive to diversify our streams of income.
The earlier you wake up and smell the coffee, the better for you.
Someone right now will say this analysis is too ideal to be true but take your time and do it, you will grasp the crux!
Stop waiting for the government to feed you, feed yourself and help the government feed others. That is where we are in this age.
Source: Why You Need to Find a 2nd Source of Income after your Salary Average Lagos hawker makes more than 2k daily? Are you talking about his revenue or net gain after cost of goods sold must have been deducted? If it is the later, you are WRONG. Not even sachet water that has a high turnover will give you that. Furthermore, if you take out UBA, Zenith and maybe Skye bank due to their recent problems, no bank pays an Executive Trainee/Graduate Trainee/Entry Level, Full Staff cadre 120k. We all know the importance of getting multiple sources of income. However, if you must educate us on it's importance, please take the pain to do a good research so as not to mislead people. |
