To the best of my knowledge, reading through this thread alone can guarantee you a study permit approval because agents ain't gonna do magic. But if you think you still need them, it's definitely at your own risk.

I remember someone posted the a-z of trv for study permit here yesterday. Just read through, digest and plan with it.

Well adding a change of name is an added advantage. The idea i believe is to give them enough reasons to show that you are actually married. In my personal opinion , these people r not really detailed or just should i say make assumptions. I was denied for my study permit initially becos they felt me and my sister who was my spnosor don't share thesame last name, even though i clearly stared in my application dat she was married. Naturally they are meant to know that once a woman is married her name changes. So i resubmitted and d only difference between d two applications was proof that we once shared same last name. So by all means add it to your application. And she doesn't have to inform cic, cos it's not her application. As for oda documents which are school related she may have to update it with d school so dat everything is aligned, these guyz here don't use common sense o. As for the hoise, she should justbstate clearly in her invitiation letter. That where ahe is staying can comfortably accomodate both of you. Noone is going to verify whether it actually is.

If I get you right sir, are you saying the spouse should get a 'Bachelor's apartment' before submitting the SOWP application?

And kindly assist me on this, my spouse has not done her change of name before filing in her application in January as all her credentials carry her maiden name. Is it okay she does the change of name thing and I add it to my application? If yes, how does she update cic and her school?

In as much as proof of fund is not a key document. Trust me dey want to know u can survive here without working for d duration ur wife id a student. They always consider worst case scenerio, assuming u don't get a job. I am currently studying here in canada and I'm also working on sowp for my wife. I know a lot of my class mates that had sowp of deir wives denied. I had to speak to the immigration consultant for international at my school. Her advise was and i quote 'god forbid u amd ur spouse get into a fight and u separate' so dats 1 of d reason each spouse must have deir oen funding . additionally she said u need to show a proof dat u can live together, so ur wife may have to include her lease agreement which will show both of u can stay together, cos 90% of students live in 1 room and a shared space.

Does my student spouse require submission of her bank statement to support my SOWP application? I mean is it mandatory or mine would suffice?

Every application requiring a medical assessment can take upfront medicals. Inquire also from the clinics but YES you can!!

Evening house, is upfront medical acceptable for SOWP? Or what would you advise as I desire to submit paper application. Considering the propinquity between Benin City and Lagos, I may not have that opportunity travel to Lagos twice for Application/biometric submission and Medicals consecutively at different dates.

All you need to apply is her study permit, marriage certificate and a proof that she is a student in Canada. Proof of fund is just an advantage, it's not a main concern, let your company say in a reference letter that they will take you back whenever you return, a job offer in Nigeria is kind of a tie.

You can always apply to change the conditions of your stay in Canada and if you want to apply for a study permit then you will need proof of fund.

However I'm interested in applying for a sowp but I have some peculiar issues that may make or mar my chances though I'm very positive of getting it is gonna end in praise with the assistance I stand to get from the wonderful gurus in the house.

My wife would be flying to canada to begin her MSc with full funding and I intend submit my application immediately she settles down. I currently work as a procurement executive in a company here in Nigeria of which I also undertake construction and in_house projects which has been consistently boosting my personal account through cash advance for the past 9months though I have a different salary account.

Now my worries before preparing my application:

1. My gross yearly salary is around 2.4m and my account balance even in a month can read like 4M. Or do I need to lay claim to have co-founded a company and present just the CAC certificate (thinking of getting it from friend who has a company) to justify been a contract outsourcing firm for my present company.

How do I justify my account balance,? Is there a way I can convince a VO to believe it's my money?

2. Is it also compulsory for my wife to submit her Canadian account statement when she settles or mine would suffice as indicated above?

3. Does she need to rent a bachelor's apartment and send me the evidence of payment before I apply or she can remain in a proposed off-campus shared apartment?

4. What are the chances of applying for study permit inside Canada while on sowp because I intend to do some courses to augment my qualifications to fit in to the Canadian system?

I hope to get this sorted out so as to enable be have a smooth ride through my Trv processing.
