You can account for it under Employment on IMM1294e and explain in details under SOP.

Please house I have an important question please I was denied a US visa and Canada is my second option but I have a some year gap in my studies ....Please when filing for my Canada visa my questions are
1) do they just know I have been denied a US visa or I have to mention it

They will find out regardless of either scenarios.

2) do I state what I have been doing in my year gap or they can see it since US and Canada share the same data base.

You have to account for any long gap in your personal history within the last 10 years or so

3) the data base shared between US and Canada what does it show about me

No one can be certain but please ensure your details match and your application is credible.
Thanks please house help so I don’t make mistakes in my new application

I want to acquire my bachelor degree

What categoryof visa are you seeking? Excellent IELTS scores do not give you "visa" to Canada. There are other conditions you have to fulfill

Ontario began a rebate program for most residential customers in Nov 1, 2019 seeing to a discount of 31.8 % from the base amount. In ontario, the standard delivery and regulatory monthly charge is $27. Current winter rate is $0.119/kWh, i think my last consumption was 169kWh. In summary, Govt pays $16 off my base bill every month.

http://www.ieso.ca/en/Sector-Participants/IESO-News/2019/10/Ontario-Electricity-Rebate-to-take-effect-on-November-1

Additionally, eligible low income earners may receive further discounts off their bills. You can read more and check eligibility from the link below.

https://ontarioelectricitysupport.ca/

BTW How are you doing sir? It's been a very long while . smiley

salford:
wow... $40 to $50 is cheap for electricity. The last time I paid that out here in the west was back in Calgary, 2014. Standard monthly charge before usage charge of electricity is like $25 bucks here in Sask. Alberta would likely be similar too. Then when family size increases, it goes up too.

My mum in law got her 1st visa valid for one year, but reapplying, she got until passport's validity. lol
Rijo02:
Thanks for the reply. That is the most probable explanation to the outcome. But I still don't understand why so many of the VO's decisions are left to "discretion". Anyways, what do I know!
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by Markab:
If you desire a condominium or an apartment building, you may not find an all inclusive unit. Basements, may be. Property Management companies do not really concern themselves with payment of hydro bills and internet services in the GTA anymore.

You may have to pay for hydro, parking and internet yourself.
Water and heat are usually included in rents.

Average hydro bill for a unit in the GTA is around 40 - 50$ a month depending usage. May be more if you're a consumer grin
If you get a good deal, home internet services cost between, 40 - 70$ a month. I got my bell services on promo for 45$ monthly for 1 year in Etobicoke. Without promo, it's 79$; Speed = 500mbps . After one year, I will switch to a new service on promo. That's the secret

Parking fee varies, 60 - 200$ per vehicle. depending on class of building and it's location.

I hope you find this info helpful

PS I work with one of the Property management companies in Mississauga.

IMO, an all-inclusive apartment might be advantageous if you find an affordable one - Those are hard to come by.. What province are you looking at?
MumofTwins2017:
Hello Seniors in the house. Please to announce I will be joining you all soon as PPR has been given.
Please I have a question, is it better to get a rented apartment with all utilities included or without utilities so I can pay directly for it? Utilities as I have seen online such as hydro, water, heater and parking for 2.
Please advice. Thank you.

There is no age limit or discrimination in any province of Canada. As long as you're qualified for the role you're applying for, you stand a chance.
TOMSY:
Hello everyone. Please I have a question.

I know in Nigeria, there is usually an age restriction of 24-26 years, for entry level position.

Is there age discrimination in Canada for a 30 year old who has done her PhD and no work experience?

Thanks in advance.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Markab: 4:51pm On Jan 08, 2020
I think it is solely at the discretion of the Immigration Officer reviewing your file based on the profile submitted
Rijo02:
Hey guys,

Please does anyone know the rationale behind visitors visa validity? I know it is usually till the duration of passport but I have heard of persons there were issued for just one (1) year despite having longer validity in their passports. Does this have to do with travel history? Has someone with no travel history been issued more than one (1) year? Does it have to do with amount of funding available to the applicant?

Your opinions will be highly appreciated!!!
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Markab: 4:49pm On Jan 08, 2020
Congratulations to you and your mum. So long she's a visitor in US with a Nigerian Passport, Her application would be treated as though she's applying from Nigeria. I must say that you put up a very strong and irresistible application for your mum wink

Congrats again cheesy
Oluwatise2016:
Application was for my mum from Chicago. She is on visit in the US.
I am going for birthing so she applied for visit visa to ff me.

online submission- November 10
bio metrics- November 11
not one single update and the application is normally supposed to take 14 days when applying from within the US but i suspect that as per naija passport her application was treated in London instead of LA or NY.

January 8- BVL
January 8- few minutes after BVL Original Passport Request

Documents submitted:
Bank statement for her. N580k because she had already left Nigeria and the only statement she could get was form the bank she had online banking with. The main account where her pension/ business proceeds go into we were not able to get so we were worried it would be denied.
All her visa pages- travel history Dubai, Ghana, Israel, UK and US.
Her most recent US entry stamp.
We screenshot itinerary on Expedia but did not pay and it did not have her name. It only had dates of travel and how much it would cost
Booked Sheraton Toronto online for 3 months stay but did not pay.
Wrote a very detailed letter of explanation and explained that it was a last minute decision to travel hence she was not able to obtain her primary bank account statement
Retirement Letter
Pension statement
Annuity Card
My visa page and travel history.
My dads visa page and travel history
evidence of landed documents of where my parents live in Nigeria being in their name
Most Importantly my marriage certificate as my name has now changed.

It was after we submitted that i realized i should have added my own personal bank statement and acted as her sponsor. So we just gave up and hoped that they would request for more information or decline the application and then we would reapply.

All in all i thank God. I believe there is a huge importance placed on travel history and honesty. Funds is great to have but the lack of evidence of it will not solely make them decline an application
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by Markab: 4:05pm On Jan 07, 2020
Hello there, recruitment process differs from one organization to other. Based on my personal experience so far in this country, I have come to realize that most companies swiftly extend offer to their most preferred candidates while keeping the others on "waiting list" up until offer is accepted or declined (usually one week grace in Ontario). If offer is accepted, they move on to documentation, and wait for the candidate to resume. If offer is rejected, they move on to the next person and cycle continues. The process is usually wrapped up in less than 5wks for applicant's that are interviewed, if I don't get interviewed after two months of the application deadline, my personal assumption is that my application was not accepted.

You may get auto-generated regret email from the HR system, sometimes 5 months after the closing the exercise for some structured organizations while some would not even get back to you at all. My current Job offer was finalized with one week, same as the previous. I have only experienced delay in my recruitment process one time since I arrived Canada. This was as a result of the acquisition of the recruiting company. The process took longer than usual because it had to be reviewed by the parent company, headquarted in Italy. As a matter of fact, I took a fresh aptitude test, another round of interview on skype with the Italy folks after previously meeting with the VP and EVP of the acquired company based in the US grin. It took like 8 weeks in total, guess what, I declined the offer cheesy. I no get time for wahala biko!

CAVEAT: My analysis is solely directed to experienced position, not entry level or graduate positions. I understand those usually take longer time than usual. smiley

Thanks for your help. I appreciate
HonWise:
Hello Markab,

It all depends on the type of application you made and got approval for, the 2weeks is an average time for passport transmission from you to VFS and back, but lately applicants are taking up to 3/4weeks to get passport back, will advice you raise webform or send emails of urgency explaining the need for your passport if after 2weeks you don't get it.

I hope your case will be different and you gets it back asap.

Congratulations on your PPR
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Markab: 5:19pm On Jan 04, 2020
Thanks you so much. Well, the application isn't for me but someone else I have been in Canada for like 2 years, now a PR and I owe this thread so much gratitude for that.
JustMellow:
Hello Markab,

At this moment, you have to be patient and calm. Your case may be different from others and you may have your PP sent back to you in no time. If your financial documents are staightforward with no discrepancies, the secondary verification may go very fast even within the 2wks marks.

However, if the worst comes to play, you can easily defer your admission to the next possible intake which gives you ample time to prepare for your trip.

BTW do well to share your application and submitted documents timeline

All the best

Hi Everyone, I was assigned any group A Computer Exam by the Professional Engineering body evaluating my degree in Canada for professional designation. My goal is to take the Electronics Exam which is the 17-Comp-A1 organised by PEO. I had the opportunity of taking any A exam but I was hoping to go for this with the notion that I might have someone taking similar exam. Is there anyone in the house who is preparing for their Assigned technical Exam by the Professional Engineering designation that might want to link up or if there is anyone taking this specific exam who might want to be a study partner or link up on this group to enable us share materials, knowledge and move forward together. PEO organizes the Exams on behalf of all provinces and the next batch of exams is in April. Help from Seniors or people also who have gone this route will be appreciated.
PS: It's been over 10 years since I have done Electronics as a course in school so I am very rusty and i am looking for all the help I can get.

Hi Newmum, you can ask the person submitting to pay for courier at VFS. They will deliver to the specified address.
Newmum0615:
Hi everyone,

My dad's application was approved today. Applied on the 15th of October, Biometrics done 23rd October. Biometrics Validity letter update 19th of Dec (don't understand the purpose of this letter), Passport request letter received 20th Dec. I thank God. It was silence all through, and they stuck to the 64 days timeline. E be like say dem remain say Christmas na next week and they rushed it out.

So, for those that have used VFS Lagos, I know that someone can submit the passport for him, but can someone collect on his behalf. He is not in Lagos and I don't want him spending flight money to go and collect the passport. The VFS site states that someone can collect for him but I have heard from people that they don't allow it. Can someone with experience confirm please? Also, where can I download the VFS Consent form? I can't find it anywhere on their site.

Thanks.
