PoliticsLagos Ocean Surge Levels Kuramo Beach by martin123(op): 7:43am On Aug 19, 2012
16 feared dead , Fashola orders evacuation of waterfront

There was no rain saturday which could have increased the water level. But nonetheless, the Atlantic Ocean surged and overflowed its banks, levelling the popular relaxation spot, Kuramo Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos.

No fewer than 16 persons were feared dead in its wake, as the surge sacked communities within the vicinity.

THISDAY gathered that five of the 16 victims were women and another one was said to be a local diver simply identified as Oloruwa.

By last night, only one corpse had been recovered.

The surge, as gathered, started on Friday night but became violent at about 7 am saturday.

THISDAY learnt that the first set of victims were 12 traders who were on a passenger boat heading to Kuramo when the ocean rebelled.

The local diver, who was also on a fishing boat, attempted to rescue the traders but unfortunately got drowned due to the powerful surge of the ocean.

Sources said the four other victims were fun-seekers at Kuramo Beach. They were said to have been swept off with their cabins.

The surge, however, did not affect the office of Eko Atlantic City, which has a big barricade.

Reports said saturday's incident was not the first of its kind, a fact buttressed by residents who said the surge usually occurs once every year.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said immediately the news broke, policemen and other rescue groups were drafted to the scene.

According to her, following the incident, which started at about 7 am, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Victoria Island, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, sent policemen to cordon off the area so that the surge does not consume more people.

Reacting to the incident, Mr. Hakeem Bello, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the state Governor Babatunde Fashola, said the state was on top of the situation.

In a statement made available to THISDAY, Bello said following seven days of high waves accompanied by a strong ocean surge which hit the country's coastline with Lagos being among the worst hit due to its location, the state government ordered the immediate evacuation of the state's waterfront.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Prince Segun Oniru, said the process had started with the immediate evacuation of the Kuramo Beach to make way for movement of sand into the area. This action, the commissioner explained, had to be taken immediately to avert the disaster of the Atlantic Ocean joining the Kuramo Waters and subsequently the Lagoon.

Oniru, who explained that the state was getting the extreme of this weather condition due to its location, noted that other coastal waterfront areas badly affected from which people would be expected to move included Badagry and Ojo Waterfront areas, Bar Beach, Kuramo Beach, Goshen Estate, Maiyegun and Alpha Beach.

He, however, added that the state emergency service had already been mobilised to continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly, adding that Lagosians should remain calm.

Also speaking on the incident, the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu, said the incident occurred when residents were still sleeping.

He said those affected were mainly people occupying illegal shanties at the beach front, adding that only one body had been recovered so far.

According to him, the agency cordoned off the entire area and immediately and started evacuating residents, adding that residents should take note of the incident and vacate for their safety. A frontline environmental activist who has been harping on the need to sanitise the waterways, Mr. Desmond Majekodunmi, blamed the recent incident on the abandoned shipwrecks in the ocean.

Citing Alpha Beach and other beaches within the ocean area that had experienced similar crises, Majekodunmi reiterated his demand on the Federal Government to assist the state in removing the wrecks in other to checkmate any future occurrence.

PoliticsLetter To My Re-elected Guv'nor....adams A. Oshiomhonle...! by martin123(op): 8:38am On Jul 16, 2012
First and foremost, savour the moment....congratulation is in order!

Like the over one hundred thousand Edolites who did not vote for you,I DID NOT ALSO. But my insignificant vote did not stop you from winning...Congratulations once again!

I use this opportunity to register my fears and to advice you to be wary of the banana peels of 2n...d tenure. It is on record that ever before the election there were covert moves to convince you of running for Vice-presidency in 2015,with a presidential candidate that will emerge from the merger of ACN & CPC. While there is nothing wrong to be ambitious, we have to be careful for our ambition not to be-cloud our vision!
This is exactly my reason for not voting you. Let it be known, your excellency, that most people voted YOUR PERSON not ACN as a party. If you had still contested under any other party apart from PDP,you would have still won.

The Banana peels of 2nd term I refer to, is the complacency of doing nothing for the electorates since you have won their heart in your first term. We can readily see what is playing out in Lagos now, where FASHOLA has suddenly grow cold of any pursuit.

There is the temptation of also dipping your hand in the till to pursue your ambition of Vice-President. Edo state must not go to sleep developmentally because of your personal ambition.
You can see that ethnic politics doesn't pay. The Omo N'Oba, inspite of having one of his own as a contestant, openly supported you. You equally recorded victories in Esanland, the supposed stronghold of Chief Tony Anenih. You must pursue an all in-inclusive government.

I also think it's time you break free from some cabals who boast with the fact that they own the structure of ACN from where you emerged politically. Some of us know the hold of an ex-governor(through his boy) on you. It's time, you call their bluff and create your own structure, while being wary also of the PDP destroyers that are now bed fellows with you in ACN.
It will not be out of place to try woo SOLOMON IYOBOSA EDEBIRI to your side,he can be your protege ahead of 2016. Though,I know that may be a near impossibility because of the Ize-Iyamu factor. I think many in Benin who voted you, are also toeing this same line of thought....EDEBIRI FOR 2016.

Your excellency,as you savour the wine of victory, remember those who had opportunity to write their name in gold but failed woefully because one of them thought he could be vice president to Abubakar Atiku, hence left the development of his state to start amassing money for campaign, today,he cannot even walk freely in the streets of Benin. A word is enough for the wise. Congrats once again!

HealthRe: Help-hepatitis by martin123: 3:49am On Jul 05, 2012
Action
Liv.52 HB, a US patent-pending phytopharmaceutical formulation, is recommended for the treatment of hepatitis B. Liv.52 HB protects the liver against various hepatotoxins, exerts antiviral activity and enhances the antioxidant defense system. The drug is safe even after long-term administration. It has antiviral, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antioxidant properties, too.

Liv.52 HB suppresses the replication of viral DNA involved in hepatitis B, and eliminates the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It suppresses the HBV by binding with the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). It also prevents the loss of functional integrity of hepatic cell membranes, and ensures early restoration of hepatic functions in hepatitis B, due to its antiperoxidative activity. Liv.52 HB also protects the hepatic parenchyma and promotes hepatocellular regeneration.http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/index.htm

Health10 Reasons Why Black People Should Not Take The HIV Tests! by martin123(op): 5:57am On Mar 13, 2012
10 Reasons Why Black People Should Not Take The HIV Tests!

By Curtis Cost

Black AIDS organizations, as well as some Black Clergy, Black politicians and Black sports figures have been encouraging African Americans to take HIV tests and to take HIV/AIDS drugs. In making these recommendations it is clear that these individuals and groups have failed to research the debate over the validity of the HIV tests and whether HIV is really the cause of AIDS.

On the other hand, doctors, scientists and researchers for years have been challenging the HIV/AIDS hypothesis. Few in the Black community have heard their objections. The following is a brief summary of the controversy:

1. None of the manufacturers of the HIV tests guarantee the accuracy of their tests. In fact, they warn that their tests should not be used alone to determine if someone is HIV positive or negative. If the manufacturers of the HIV tests don't have confidence in their own product then why should Black People?

2. There are about 70 different things that can trigger a false positive result on HIV tests. These include vaccines such as for flu, hepatitis B and others. YES, if you recently had a vaccine, it can cause you to test positive on an HIV test! Even pregnancy can trigger a false positive response on an HIV test.

3. Test results vary over time. That is, you can test positive one day and go back to the same hospital or clinic a year later and test negative!

4. Test results vary between hospitals. You can go to two different hospitals on the same day and take an HIV test and get two different test results!

5. Test results vary between countries. There is no international standard on how to even interpret the results on an HIV test. This means that you could test positive in America, but in Australia your same test result could be considered negative!

6. Test results vary depending on which test kit is used. This means that an ELISA test could indicate that you are positive, but a Western Blot test or PCR test could indicate that you are negative.

7. The HIV tests do not look for HIV in your body. The tests just look for chemical reactions which have never been proven to have anything to do with HIV. This is why doctors will say that you are HIV positive, but they will not state in writing that you have an active infection of HIV. There is a big difference between being HIV positive and actually having HIV!

8. The personal information you give at a testing facility will have a big impact on how they interpret the test results. That is, if you say that you are a homosexual or an intravenous drug user, this will drastically increase the chances that they will claim that you have HIV.

9. If you are told you are HIV positive this will have a devastating emotional impact on you and your family. Even worse, if you start taking drugs like AZT, DDI and protease inhibitors you will be poisoning yourself and most likely die a slow horrible death. AZT for example was originally a chemotherapy treatment, but in 1964 it was deemed too deadly and its use was discontinued. It destroys the bone marrow which is where a person's blood cells are formed! Therefore, people who supposedly have an immune system problem are being given a drug which destroys their immune system!

10. No HIV virus has ever been isolated. The early claims of isolation have been proven false and turned out to be nothing more than cellular debris! Even the person who supposedly discovered HIV, French scientist and Nobel Prize winner, Luc Montagnier, has publicly admitted that he never obtained a purified sample of HIV. This means that all of the HIV tests are worthless because there is no purified sample of HIV which can be used to measure the accuracy of those tests. It also means that all of the HIV/AIDS drugs are worthless because they are based on a virus that nobody has ever isolated. This is why scores of prominent doctors and scientists have been denouncing the HIV/AIDS hypothesis as a hoax!

We in the African American Community must wake-up and start thinking for ourselves! We must take a serious look at the debate over HIV/AIDS and start asking serious questions. We can not afford to passively rely on the recommendations of others. Those who are in a leadership position in the Black Community need to do critical research before continuing to make recommendations which are taking our people down the wrong path.
