Shock and disbelief could best describe the mood of Anambra State Deputy Governor, Mr. Emeka Sibeudu and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the state, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, yesterday when the duo led security operatives to discover four registration centres located at a shrine in a deep forest. The four centres which are in the deep Nziko forest at Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area, were manned by registration officers and had, at the time of the discovery, registered only about 200 voters since the commencement of the exercise 10 days ago. Following security reports made available to Governor Peter Obi, his deputy and the REC led security operatives to the forest where the startling revelation of the four centres with the accompanying Direct Data Capture (DDC) machines was made. On arrival at the forest which took about 40 minutes drive from the nearest residential area, the registration officers, mainly corps members, were idle and gazing at the machines with virtually nobody to register. Reacting to the incident, the shock-stricken Prof. Onukaogu, described as painful, the discovery of four centres serving nobody in a thick forest when there were not enough machines for potential voters in places like Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Adazi, Agulu and others. He said: “I have heard of floating/flying polling booths. Today, I have seen one. I am sad that there are four machines wasting here, whereas there are no machines in Onitsha, Eke Awka, Ozubulu, Nnewi and parts of Anaocha where thousands of people are waiting to be registered.” Onukaogu noted that the four centres had registered only about 200 voters since the exercise started 10 days ago, when the same machines would have registered several thousands had they been located in densely-populated areas. He said the irregular location of the centres also posed grave risk to the registration officers and the machines, questioning, “how will I evacuate men and machines in the event of danger?” The REC boss alleged that the centres have been secured by an influential politician from the area, who would want to use it to rig election, but assured that he would remove three machines and leave one behind, just as he would need to meet with the registration officials before taking action. Onukaogu stressed that he was constrained by the fact that the “floating registration centres” deep in the forest were documented from the INEC Abuja headquarters and assured it would be corrected. Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, who expressed shock at the location of the registration centres, said: “We have shortfalls in machines. But in the forest here, there are four machines lying idle. All the people we met here are not up to 10. But if you go to some other places, you will find thousands of people waiting to be registered”. Describing such registration centres as what people use to perpetuate electoral fraud, the deputy governor said: “This, I can assure you, is part of the rascality of the past which the present government under Mr. Peter Obi is trying hard to stamp out of the state.” However, a former deputy chairman of Oyi Local Government, Chief Samuel Offorkansi, who is overseeing affairs at the voting centres, insisted that the place had been serving as voting and registration centres since 1998, stressing that contrary to what the people think, the centres were in the midst of densely populated villages. |
The Anambra state government said it has discovered four INEC registration units in one of its dreaded deep forests- Nziko forest at Nteje- in the state. Any possibility this registration machine were kidnapped there by kidnappers to help register kidnapped persons? http://saharareporters.com/

There was a new twist yesterday to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State as an Enugu High Court issued an interim order restraining Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo from parading himself as the national chairman of the party while Governor Sullivan Chime emerged winner in the party’s primary election also conducted yesterday at the Okpara Square. The governor and Nwodo had early in the week agreed at a meeting called at the instance of President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to share the political zones of the state, with Chime controlling Enugu East and West while Enugu North was left for Nwodo. But surprisingly, yesterday, the Enugu High Court presided over by Justice Reuben Onuorah issued an interim order restraining Nwodo from parading himself as the national chairman, particularly as it concerned the ongoing primaries of the party. The court order followed a motion filed last year by one Collins Amalu, a PDP member from the Ngwo Uno Ward of the state who argued that Nwodo did not re-register after he returned to the party and thus was not given a valid membership card upon his re-entry into the party. Justice Onuorah noted that Amalu had in Suit No. E\449\2010 made an oral application through his counsel, Mrs. Justina A. Offia (SAN) praying the court for an order of interim injunction aimed at restraining the defendant (Nwodo) from holding himself out as a member of the PDP or an officer of the party to wit, national chairman of the party. Amalu, he said, was also seeking the court to stop Nwodo from “exercising the rights, powers and or functions of a member and officer of the party and or enjoying any privilege as a member and or officer of the party, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.” Justice Onuorah, after hearing the submissions of Chief Offia, counsel for the plaintiff and Prof. Okafor, counsel for the defendant, said: “An interim order is hereby therefore made restraining the defendant (Nwodo) from exercising the rights, powers and or functions or enjoying the privileges attached to the office of the chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party pending the determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.” The judge, however, adjourned hearing on the substantive case till January 31. On the party gubernatorial primaries, Governor Chime polled 811 votes to beat three other aspirants in the contest: Mr. Okey Ezea, two; Val Nnaedozie, one; and Anayo Onwuegbu, two. There were a total of 990 delegates in the state, but only 870 voted out of which 54 votes were voided. Chime who was declared winner by the Chairman of the party’s panel for the primaries, Alhaji Tafida Isa Mafindi, commended the panel, saying it did a great job. The governor also thanked the delegates for voting for him, saying the PDP in the state had spoken. He said his victory at the primaries was the beginning of the journey even as he assured the people that victory would come their way in the April governorship election. Some of the PDP stalwarts from the state at the primaries were Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu; the Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi; Senator Anyogu Eze; Aviation Minister, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze; state PDP Chairman, Vita Abba and House of Reps member, Chief Ozor Mgbachi. A former military dictator, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.), has said he should not be linked with the spate of bombings ravaging the country. Babangida, who stated this in a press statement signed by his spokesperson, Prince Kassim Afegbua, said it was unfortunate that private persons and former leaders could be linked to acts of terrorism or bombings. Babangida, however, did not say how he was being linked with the act. Apart from Jos, Plateau State, where bombings has become, regular incident, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja had also witnessed three spates of bombings. The statement read in part, “General Ibrahim Babangida is utterly surprised at the deliberate ploy to link him with the spate of wanton bombings that have created palpable fear in the land. “This, to him, amounts to sheer blackmail. It exposes the weakness in the system if private persons and former leaders who are enjoying their retirement are being linked to acts of terrorism or bombings.” The former dictator suggested that government should call for a stakeholder security summit with the aim of identifying new methods and approaches that would provide useful solutions to the disturbing trend. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201101031324017 |

Expert Analysis of Violent Instability and Nigerian Elections Overview Elections in Nigeria scheduled for January 2011 may well be the first in the country's history featuring a genuine political contest between the predominantly Christian South and the Muslim North. Candidates could be tempted to leverage Nigerians' ethnic and religious identities for political gain, a practice that may lead to widespread electoral violence or even a military coup. This Center for Preventive Action Contingency Planning Memorandum by Ambassador John Campbell describes the events and trends that indicate Nigerian politics are following this dangerous trajectory and recommends U.S. policy options for preventing and containing violent fragmentation of Nigerian society. The memo concludes that the United States should capitalize on the value elite Nigerians place on their country's bilateral relationship with the United States to hedge against the worst outcomes the 2011 Nigerian election might produce. http://www.cfr.org/publication/22930/electoral_violence_in_nigeria.html?gclid=CPKO7oTylqYCFRaIzAodfR8EaA |

Jama'atu Ahlus Claims Responsibility. It Is Jihad Video: Jama’atu ahlus Claims Responsibility For Jos Bomb Blasts That Killed 80 People On Xmas Eve December 28, 2010 - 16:43 — siteadmin TRANSLATION: “Prayer, with quotation from the Holy Quran” My Muslim brothers and sisters, indeed we carried out the attack in the town of Suldaniyya which is normally called plateau or what some call Jos. We are responsible for the attack. If you don’t know us, we are Jama’atu ahlus sunnah lid da’awati wal jihad which was falsely labeled Boko Haram, and we did this because our Creator has ordered us to wage war on everyone who does not embrace the religion of Islam after preaching to them. And (another) one of the reasons why we are doing this in this country is because of the way we are being killed in this country. Through evil machinations, plans are orchestrated to achieve desired goals (against us) and we are continuously being killed, just as the Arabs say “what the eye sees is better than a story that is told” (chanting in Arabic). Everyone knows how our muslim brothers and sisters were massacred in different towns in this country; Lagos state has witnessed it, so has Ibadan, the town called Zangon Kataf in Kaduna has also witnessed it, Bauchi has witnessed it and so has the town Suldaniyya known as Plateau or Jos, where we have carried out our attack been a witness to the killings of our muslim brothers and even the abduction of our muslim sisters and children whose locations are not known uptil now. It has also happened in Kano state at Sabon gari area. These happenings including what we have not even witnessed or heard of, only God knows their magnitude (and) God shall Judge (in these matters) on the Day of Judgement. These are some of the reasons why we are waging this war because God has ordered us to go to war when our brothers and sisters are killed, and now we are even denied our rights to practice our religion. God knows best. This is the message I want to pass to people, and finally I want to tell the Muslims in this country and the whole world that they need to know this is a war between Muslims and non-muslims. So where ever you are, you should be weary; this is not a tribal war, nor is it similar to the wars of the pre-islamic era, it is not a war for financial gains, it is solely a religious war. We did not start this war so it would end in one week, or one month or one year. Only when we are completely annihilated and nobody chooses to continue with our struggle maybe that could be the end. Or (we establish a system where) religion has the final say or religion determines everything, that will be the end of this war. And definitely this war will not end just because we are visibly present anywhere because it was God that said “quotation from the Holy Quran”. This is a war between muslims and non-muslims. We are ready for anyone willing to face us, whether it ’s a group of people or even the government because we know who supports us, God the Creator of the universe, praise be to God. Therefore we are warning every muslim who believes in the religion of islam that he should never help a non-muslim in this war. If he helps any non-muslim and in so doing, a fellow muslim suffers due to that, he should know that he is a dead person. “Praying in Arabic” |
the issue here, is just warming up and gradually leading to war.Remember, some of the military muslims are in support of this. i am 100% sure there will be a hit back on the muslims (cows)and it is going to be worse than what you just saw on those photos above.Remember, the muslims are liken to zombies and very easy to kill.they've killed the defenceless children and women, mind you. a bomb will be okay. @:ayiddalal. am sure you are happy about what happened, you are only ounding like one of those politicians who will support the act behind the screen and condem openly. |
