True. Some are later happy that they never committed suicide (one of them even posted here) some are still in the backhole and it's even getting worse but I agree that we should always give it a try because for those that later make it, it's worth it.

Lol. Nice thread. Truth is suicide and depression is not something you can understand until you experience it you might like to think you know but wait till you experience it. Situations and circumstances differ from people to people as well as their severity. Individuals differ so one must not make the mistake of using one's self as a yard stick to talk to depressed individuals. Moreover, what one sees as important in life is what another sees as rubbish. Some seek academic prudence while some seek money. Many once told themselves no matter what I will never commit suicide but many years later they become suicide victims. I try to encourage suicidal and depressed individuals but I don't push them by all means to live or tell them how valuable life is because to someone that is depressed and suicidal, life has no meaning and is of no value to them. When I want to tell them that there is light at the end of the tunnel, I ask myself "how do I know?", it's easy to advise them to pick themselves up but life is not easy like that, for every successful man, there thousands of unfortunate individuals.

I also think it's naive to say tell them that others are worse off. Truth is whether we like to acknowledge it or not, certain lives and living conditions are not worth it. They are not worth living. Suicide does not discriminate, it happens to the rich and poor, black and white, wicked and good. The topic is complex, live your life the way you want.

1) if she is only bothered about your money and income. If you lost your job for two weeks and she starts distancing herself, nagging you up and down for you to get a good job, she wants to spend big at all cost whether you can afford it or not etc. Run away.
2) if she can't take correction or own up to her misdeeds but tries to bury everything with romance and sex. Don't fall, run away.
3) she doesn't want to sign a prenuptial agreement. Run away. If she likes let her cry and say you don't trust her, run away.
4) she keeps spending her time with her ex and she likes text him at night. Run away.
5) she is a weed addict, drug and alcohol addict, gambling addict and cigarette addict. Try telling her to quit for the sake of the relationship, if she refuses to work towards giving up her addiction, run away.
6) she is dirty. Run away.
7) she can insult, call you names, damage properties, hit or slap you during an argument. Run away.
if she demands that you are supposed to cater for all her needs while she is a liability and can only offer sex.

1) if he is a regular drunkard, gambling addict, a drug addict or weed addict, call him to order for the sake of the relationship if he can't work towards giving up his addiction for the sake of your relationship, run away from him.
2) if he has slapped you or hit you during an argument. Run away.
3) if he is a control freak, run away.
4) if he is a manipulative person ie. He manipulates and pressurises you emotionally and mentally to make certain decisions or get money and your belongings for his own gain even if it puts you at risk. Run away.
5) if he is not honest with you and keeps lying and cheating from time to time. Run away.
6) if he is daddy's or mummy's boy and puppet and his dad and mum decided many things that happen in your relationship. Run away.
7) if he is very lazy and unhygienic. He can't sweep and tidy, clean, can't boil water, can't wash his plate instead leaves them to rot and filled with maggot, can't clean his toilet for months etc. Run, run, run and run.

I agree with you. One has to be foolish to believe these things in the presence of evidence. Even without evidence, one should figure the ridiculous nature of religion. All it takes is to realise that things are not to be feared but understood.

The people who made up holy books didn't have the means to inquire about other planets and other extraterrestrials. They holy books were written from the limited and crude perspective of the people who wrote them.

This whole issue about works and faith remains unresolved to the theists because :
1) They are not intelligent enough to spot cause and effect with one or more given factors to consider.

2) They can but choose to live in denial and bias.
