Don't mind that guy. he started conflating hope and faith with biblical faith. talk about dishonesty
Very dishonest. He picked his notion of faith and stylishly sweeps the biblical faith under the carpet with his ridiculous explainations "faith is a borrowed word from in the bible" & "don't limit faith to religion". He does this for convenience.

you are limiting faith here to religion. Faith is belief in something. When you work you have to believe in that work for it to succeed. This is what people call hope. Whichever, you need faith or hope for your work to succeed.
The biblical/definition of faith is different from the "English language" definition of faith. The faith you are talking about is different from that of religious faith. There is no case of limit the definition of faith here. It's just that you lack of understanding and that's why I said go and read the bible to understand the meaning of biblical faith.

faith is a borrowed word in the bible. The origin of faith is not the bible. I am not here to debate biblical faith or dictionary faith
The faith hopefulLandlord, the guy whom you mentioned, was talking about is the biblical faith. Works without biblical faith works, biblical faith without work fails. It's either you believe the biblical faith or not, don't be arrogant to say he doesn't know what he is saying because he didn't employ your definition. I won't be surprised if despite your twisted notion of faith, which contradicts biblical faith, you are still a christian. After all, as I rightly said in my last topic, moderation is about convenience not what the holy books say.

work without faith does not work. I don't know where you got this from. Non believers use the word hope... Nothing works without hope. This is faith to me. Believing something will work, being positive about your work and actions. In business publications, you see words like outlook. It means they are looking to something, hoping and working towards it. This is how life has made it.
Go and read your bible and get what faith is.

With sincerity and delight i want to congratulate my dear muslim brothers and sisters. Home and abroad for another Eid Allah as granted us to be part of. Eid Mubarak!

And to our noble brethren in far away Meccah who are on hajj. May allah count it as ibahdah for them.

Hajj is a time to be tuned with Almighty Allah. And one of the rites is the popular stoning of the devil.

it is heart breaking and sad to see christians, atheists and unbelievers, infidels if you choose to call them that,... all laughing at the millions of faithfuls that are caring out this sacred act of pelting the devil with pebbles.
This is no joking matter. This is a serious act which calls for our solemn reflection and thoughts.

Many among those stoning the devil are DOCTORS, LAWYERS, SCIENTISTS, PROFFESORS, intellectuals, leaders, oldmen and women!

This should be a lesson that stvpidity has no age limit or profession or any boundaries.

Anyone can be fooolish.

This is an act that should instead remind us that majority are not always right. That you have christian scientists that believe in the rubbish in the bible, does not mean they are right.

Logic and only logic can save humanity from the fooolishness that comes with religion.

Think about this.
lol. This is one of the reasons I don't let my guard down with experts. I don't take there words for it, I give every claim it's own share of investigation because now and in the past, experts have goofed big time. This validate a law of stupidity "stupidity is independent of any other characteristics of the individual." eg. One can be stupid and be a certified professional. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a physician and author of Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories, believed in fairies and spiritual stuffs. grin

Prof. Ben Carson, a prominent paediatric neurosurgeon, doesn't believe in evolution and is a christian. There are many "intellectuals" that believe in ridiculous garbages eg. Francis Collins. grin

Abroad yes but in Nigeria you people should shut the crap. How do you expect someone barely surviving with minimum wage to go and marry. This is suicide I tell you. It would have been better if you can marry a working class woman but in Nigeria how many woman are empowered to be working for themselves.

Since I started living alone I stopped blaming my farther for not giving me those good life I dreamt off because I have experience so much about earning money and spending money. I tell you it's not easy not to talk of adding someone who will always stay at home and add to your misery.

You want to send young men to their early grave. Marriage is not for the faint hearted because if you are not prepared financially, psychologically and physically too, you will even regret bringing a child to this world. And your wife may reach a point to even insult you and cheat on you with another man when you can't provide. Maybe you haven't been to the market to price baby food and accessories.

I pity anyone who falls with this advice. Exception is when you have a woman willing to support you financially too.
This topic by the op has been raised several times and sensible people like you and me have corrected and discouraged marital gambling. Marriage is a serious business.

Christianity EtcRe: The Problem With Being A Moderate Christian or Muslim. by Martinez19(op): 5:27pm On Aug 21, 2018

Being a moderate is nice in the short term but damaging in the long term. It's better to read your bible/quran and know what it says and then decide whether to be seriously religious or irreligious. A practical example of the damaging effect of the moderate majority is the masking of the islamisation of Europe and Canada; the preservation and protection of Islam in Europe and Canada and failure to properly address the problem of illegal Muslim immigration and the problems and vices these immigrants bring with them. This happens because, thanks to the moderate majority, people fruitlessly and endlessly focus on terrorist individuals rather than the root of the problem for reasons I explained earlier. In the long run, It's better to be a fundamentalist.

How to know if you are a moderate christian/muslim:
1) you believe all religions are serving the same god.
2) you believe that it doesn't matter how you live your life that god looks at the heart.
3) you believe god help those who help themselves.
4) you think modern medicine is god's miracle and that the only way he heals.
5) you think healing by faith is trash.
6) you think god has finished creation and has let us to fend for ourselves.
7) you think that the holy book should be followed with "wisdom".
cool if you like playing the god is merciful card. You don't see trespassing your doctrines as a big deal because god will forgive.
All these are for convenience.

Let me stop here, other can add their contribution. Lastly be sincere with your beliefs or become irreligious.

Let's look at the harms of christian and islamic fundamentalism.
1) Death and irreversible damage to the body due to refusing or delaying medical help.
2) Failure to marry and spend the rest of your life with someone you love because of religious differences. Luckily, both party get to catch up on reality years later and marry but some can't because they've gone far in a relationship and had kids with someone they never loved.
3) Forgoing great business and life opportunities because of your faith, because your pastor said no, you thought it wasn't God's plan or you were waiting on god for approval.
4) Causing great delay in marrying because you were waiting on god. Some women stay into their forties because they were waiting on god and they stay put because they thought god was testing them, taking them through a journey and refining them. Lmao, refining at 40something grin
5) Sacrificing great time and energy to learning and memorising scriptures, buying christian books with your hard earned ministry, quitting that great and high paying job for the ministry and soul winning, quitting and stunting intellectual pursuit and artistry for the sake of religion.
6) stunting and rejecting science and leaving people with a twisted perception of their reality.
There are many more but I will stop there.

If every believer were fundamentalist, religion would have been banned and eliminated because it would be easy to identify the root of the problem. Though there will be problems and conflicts in the short run if every believer were fundamentalist but in the long run, the issue of religion would have been easier to deal with and banned. Moderates play a huge role in preserving and prolonging the stay religion in this modern age.

... To be continued.
Christianity EtcThe Problem With Being A Moderate Christian or Muslim. by Martinez19(op):
I believe the best thinkers think both in the long and short term while poor thinkers think only in the short term or irrationally. In the Christian and Muslim population, majority tend to be moderate and while being moderate might sound nice, it has a formidable negative effect. Being a moderate requires you to acknowledge the "nice" parts of the bible/quran while ignoring other "nasty" parts and this requires ignorance or hypocrisy because a moderate is either unaware of these "nasty" parts OR is aware of them but chooses to live in denial. Being a moderate is not all right because moderates unknowingly act as a preservation and cover of religious fundamentalism. I shall explain

Truth is if you read the bible/quran and you believe it, take it "as it is" and you do what it demands of you, you would be what people and moderates call a fundamentalist or lunatic and being a Christian or Muslim fundamentalist is harmful to yourself and people around you. Now, as long as christianity and Islam "exists" and there are people reading the bible/quran, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A SET OF THESE PEOPLE THAT TAKE THE BIBLE AS "IT IS", BELIEVE IN IT AND ARE WILLING TO DO WHAT THE BIBLE/QURAN DEMANDS OF THEM. This means trouble for the society and the cause and source of this trouble is Christianity/Islam, which are the root of the problem. The moderates, because they are the majority, lead non-belivers to see moderates as the ideal representatives of what their religion entails and how it should be practiced and because moderates form the majority, non-belivers buy into this misconception and label the fundamentalists as lunatic or those who have misinterpreted or misunderstood.

The non-belivers won't bother reading the bible/quran and would be unaware of the extent of Islam and Christianity's harmfulness because they look at the moderate majority. The non-belivers will see no need to reform or ban Christianity/Islam because they see moderates(who appear peaceful) as the ideal representatives of their religion and what it requires from a human. This is because if the majority of a religion are peaceful then the religion won't be seen as the problem by non-belivers, especially if they are ignorant of what the holy books say. So as long as there are moderates, the root of the problem won't be addressed and eradicated ie. a lot of people would be unaware of the fact that christianity/islam is meant to yield fundamentalism rather they would see fundamentalism as a malfunction of the brains of the fundamentalist minority and try to deal with this minority but as long as the root of the problem exists, there would be fundamentalists as not all brainwashed religiotards would be ignorant and hypocritical of what their Holy book says.

So you see, moderates are a problem. They provide a cover for the cause of fundamentalism(The root of the problem), preserve fundamentalism and give the impression that they are the ideal representative of their religion and what it demands. Non-belivers would erroneously judge religion as harmless and peaceful because the moderate majority are peaceful and get on fine. Also, dangerous Islamic terrorist can camouflage themselves as moderates to protect themselves while they commit atrocities behind closed doors. The problem I have with moderates is that, unlike the fundamentalists, they are not after what their holy book says, they are all about convenience that's why they are full of metaphoric and allegorical interpretations and extra doctrines(eg. God help those who help themselves, god only looks at the heart, all religions are ways to the same god) they added to create convenience as they practice their religion.

I have actually had two experiences that made me believe juju is real,... In my villa then, we use to go snail hunting in the night, so during the raining season we would go snail hunting in group each person with their touchlight. On this particular day, we went to a very far away farm because the places we do normally go snail hunting, we didn't see snails to pick there, on getting there, we discovered that there are much snails there, we were picking snails left & right that everybody was happy, then all of a sudden i sighted something that appeared in a human form with white clothing & it started laughing hysterically, it body started growing whiter the few seconds i stared at it before we all started to run for our dear lives, when we got home. People said that it was the spirit that owns that place that chased us away because we were disturbing them.. The day i saw our masquerade disappear right in my presence, i was pretty scared at seeing that.
