Instead Aboki will be making progress, Aboki is regressing.

I’m sure they must have a lot of illiterates in their midst which is why they deemed it necessary to lower the standards to accommodate them.

They might as well incorporate their different dialects as well.

Ndi ala😏

So, using local language is regressing in your linguistically colonized brain, right?

That's why in 2006, UNESCO cited Igbo as one of the languages that will go extinct within the next 50 years.

Also, a Professor of African and African Diaspora Literatures at the University of Massachusetts, Chukwuma Azuonye said in his paper Igbo as an Endangered Language, published in 2002: "...it is in fact one of the seriously endangered languages of the world. Its endangerment is largely a function of colonial mentality manifested in the so-called receptivity to change that often means loss of identity in every new situation of culture contact."

Next time when you think that people are regressive because of using their native languages, think of NDIGBO first.

I am allergic to heat or anything hot during cold weather. The moment I found myself in a hot environment or eat/drink anything hot/spicy, my skin (especially the upper part of my body) will start itching.

Also, I am allergic to fried groundnut and fish during the day hours. Especially when the sun shines brightly. I am developing headache few minutes after eating them.

Someone was banned for only using the word clown. I have been banned on Facebook unfairly countless times if there was a section to write back it wouldn't have been. If Facebook bans u you cant express yourself.

Have you ever asked yourself why is porn allowed on Twitter, but a big NO on Facebook?

This is what they called Community Standard.

Each social media company has its policy for using their platform. It's either you abide by it or bear the consequences, or do yourself good and leave their platform.

Facebook has more than 10 policies that you are expected to make yourself familiar with as the user of their platform. Have you ever bothered to check what they are?

That was how Fiverr closed my seller account 2 times. It was during the second closure that I went to check their policy, and came to know that you can only have one account with them. Once it's closed due to a reason, you can't have another one forever, as they can't trust you anymore with their buyers.

I got the job via LinkedIn. A recruiter reached out to me and asked me if I would like to work remotely for 2000Eur per month? I said yes but after the interview, They decided to increase my salary and said they want me to come over.

Na so oo

Thank God for you.

I also got a job via LinkedIn. Just like you. A recruiter send me a message that his client is looking for an employee, and he thinks I will be the best potential candidate for the position. The position is in Nairobi, Kenya. And, the company will take care of all the relocation costs(flight ticket, visa, work permit, covid test, 1 month accommodation, and relocation allowance). I agreed, and he submits my resume to them, and the rest is history. I just received my 1st salary yesterday.

CrazyMan:
A background check shouldn't take more than a week if the advertised position is very urgent. Most government parastatal and some coperate organizations will even employ you because of the urgency to fill up that vacant position, then run the checks after a couple of months or years.

For them to completely go mute on you for 60 days isn't healthy for your employment. Cos if the position was as urgent as it was advertised they should have gotten back to you earlier.

I'll still advise that you send a follow up mail to them, just in case they've forgotten.

Good luck.
Thank you very much

Hello everybody,

I applied for a language based position in an IT services company in Nairobi, Kenya.

Tomorrow Friday will be 60 days since the last time I heard from them.

After passing through different stages of recruiting, they sent me a congratulatory email and request copies of my credentials, international passport, photograph, and national ID for a background check.

Since then, I have been waiting for their email that includes an offer letter, as they said in my last communication with them.

So, I want to know how long does it take a company to finish checking the background of their potential employees, and can I send a follow-up email to them?

Thank you

Hello,if I may ask? Is this before or after tax?Their tax is around 30% . Life generally in Nairobi is not cheap,
Even if it is after tax,the offer is too small.
Relocation allowance will be paid instalmentally, how will you be able to pay rent and furnish your house?
Nigerian food is very expensive in Nairobi except you will adapt to eating Ugali and co.
They are not even offering to pay your annual ticket incase you want to travel home.
To me,60ksh is too little to leave Nigeria for.
I wish you all the best .

Hi!

Thank for you suggestions.

I have already send them all the information they required before seeing your reply.

I don't know wether it's before or after task.

Do you mean I have to give them like 30% of whatever I am earning?

I was told that life is not cheap there. But, it all depend on your way of living. I am not from a wealthy family, so, I think i can manage it like that.

As for the food, I am not that heavy selector, I manage what is front of me.

For the annual ticket, it's just a one year non-renewable job.

Thank you one again.

HELP PLEASE!!!

I AM IN CONFUSION; I DON'T WANT TO GET SCAMMED, ALSO I DON'T WANT TO LOOSE AN OPPORTUNITY DUE TO THE FEAR OF SCAMMERS.

Someone called my brother, and claim to know him somewhere, he even called my brother's name. He claimed to be an Immigration officer that was recently moved to the headquarters in Abuja, as Officer In-charge of recruitment processes. He said, he was given a slot of 1 person. And, in the course of looking for who to contact, he saw my brothers number. So, he decided to call him and ask if he has a candidate.

My brother wants to send my details, but he suspect something is not okay, so, he contact me if I can check the man's phone number on Google or somewhere to get some information. We check Truecaller, there is only his name initials M. A. B (he told my brother his full name), but no picture on the profile, he is not also on Whatsapp.

He said, there are two replacement forms to be filled at the cost of 10,500 naira. He send a message of the details he want. After then he will send the account number (of his colleague) that we will deposit the money inside. Then, later we will send my scanned documents through an internet cafe that he will send us the address together with the account number this morning.

Please I need clarification about some things:

Do you people think we should believe the man?

Is there any replacement going on at NIS?

Does Nigeria Immigration Service gives a form for repalcement?

Does any one know the exact amount of the money for the form (if there is any)?

TammyAnybody or anybody that has any information please I need an urgent help.

Thank you all.
