Yes every operating .system can be used. Even windows but any Linux sis to including manjero can be used but it cons is that you have to start installing tools like it frustrating except. As to your second question ... Java has limited uses. ..For example if i want to hack Java web app... I need to java to hack applet... but i recommend learning python or rubby for writing script etc as if wil come handy
