What you think you will find and what you actually found are two different things. People have a false narrative of japa and what it actually takes to excel. Instead of listening to learn, we consider other people's experiences and narratives as ...well enemies of progress. I have never seen people adverse to listening and learning. We would rather stay ignorant and/or stubborn. At least listen, pay attention, then strategize on how you can make it work if you must japa...but never dismiss advice of those before you. Like Yoruba always say, the death that happens to someone you are close to is meant to send a message to you. We have so many Nigerians in jail. Expect lots of deportation once Trump gets in because most of these financial crimes are felocies. The Trump appointed Border Czar spoke about this in Texas this week. essentialone: |
Nigerians are not aware of how much can be traced these days. If they are, they would be less likely to spill jargons or threats. Even Nairaland can be traced. If you think, you can set up a fake email and use it to open a fake NairaLand account, you forget you are using an IP address with internet that can be traced to your number used to generate the internet. Try using VPN thinking you are safe...and you will find out that even VPN cannot save you. Some times back, people discovered encrypted messages are not really. Iphone and even your computers have gateways built into their systems where they can send you updates. They can also trace information to the apps and permission you allow with those apps. The question is why is there so much crimes if we have all these technology...well the Govt cannot get everyone but once they pick your case, you are not just done, but completely done. Netanyahu gave a speech days ago as to why he accepted the cease fire. Go and listen to it. I know most of you type without knowing much of what is going on behind the scene. I have told the main propagandist on here and people like yourself that follow, you are no friend of Israel. You think you are but you are actually putting the country in more danger like Netanyahu. One day he will die and go, US will get tired of spending and Israel will still be a small nation in Middle East. UAE economy is expanding, same with Saudi...you think those leadership will remain in place forever...but the legacy of Israel's destruction of Gaza and Lebanon will linger. Yes yes, I know Israel will include it in their curriculum as another victory over the infidels. The future is US becoming the 3rd largest economy with China and India standing tall and against Israel if need be. The future of Israel is peace with its neighbors and compromise. Objectivist04: |
I am not from Ekiti State..I am an IJEBU man based outside of Nigeria. If you don't get it, forget aborrit. ![]() Nwaikpe: |
It is 2:16pm here. I am at work not in bed You just keep putting your foot in your mouth. Nwaikpe: |
Bad optics...they should look for an excuse not to go. Dapromzy333: |
ok if you claim I am a Muslim lol...so be it. I will never deny my faith to someone on NairaLand that I will never meet lol. Not everyone moves the same way.Nwaikpe: |
Let me shock you..even high schools in USA is built on a PPP model. You think money just dey anyhow. Some private companies build them here including jails and the govt pays to lease them for x number of years. Factcheck me CodeTemplarr: |
I am not a Muslim. Clearly with the way you insult, you are definitely not a Christian. You definitely do not understand the politics of negotiation. To say Netanyahu is accepting the deal is to ignore the fact that they wanted him to save face. If the right wingers that formed his cabinet are against it, you really think he is accepting it because Hezbollah is begging him. You are definitely not as smart as you think you are. Israel is running out of ammunitions and Iron Dome maintenance is expensive. How much do you think Israel is making annually and how much do you think US can give them and for how long? EU has made it clear he would be arrested. He caved because he is a coward killing women and children and giving in after boasting he will never stop till all "terrorists" are eliminated. He saw the writings on the wall. Nwaikpe: |
I always tell drivers ...please 1. Do not bypass trucks anyhow if you don't have a clear path to overtake quickly 2. Press your horn and let the trucks know you are passing by. Trucks have a wider blindsight 3. If there are potholes, containers may fall so never bypass container carrying trucks at all while passing roads with potholes 4. Always watch your rear view mirrors and side mirrors for runaway trucks with failed brakes. A stitch in time says nine. God Bless us all. Glimpsetv: |
Not as clear as Dangote, but it is a good start. Let Nigerians breathe...breathe better quality fuels...not imported killing ones.
https://x.com/nnpclimited/status/1861411167505150320?t=EJ6QGohzHeVnIxDt_1i-mA&s=09
|
Lol Netanyahu...He knew US under Trump wont give him a blank check. I thought they wont cease fire until they finish everything. He got scared with the war crime charges. He will still be arrested to account for his crimes. With all the fights, hundreds of rockets are still being fired into Israel. Like Ukraine, leaders overestimate their capacity to win wars they ought not to start. Should Israel have responded to October attack, sure...in a strategic way and very targeted approach. They would have received the support and sympathy of all countries. They have turned from victims to the predators. The World would not soon forget all these crimes and the man called Netanyahu. TruthU87: |
No worries...he will enter USA for Trump inauguration without arrest...then the World will see US as what it is...hypocrites. Next time another African leader is wanted by ICC...we will just smile knowing ICC is just BS. That is how all these institutions would become irrelevant. That is the future....UN, UN Security Council, ICC..they will all become irrelevant soon. and the loser in all of this would be USA/Israel NwaNimo1: |
If this is all they are asking, please post picture of the girl o....make serious people propose. N3.5m is not much and even the village people did not ask for much Lol. It is less than 2000 pounds. Just let them know there isn't any party or events o...we pay for everything on the list, I take their daughter and that's all ![]() ExAngel007: |
I mentioned this to you weeks ago...you think you are pro-Israel with all this propaganda, but you put more Israelis in danger. Netanyahu does not care about Israelis...only about power and selfish interest. Can he protect all the Jews all over the world? Nope, but he does not care about that. He goes around convincing gullible people that he is doing it for them. The US is losing its influence in the UN...the future is not good, and instead of compromising, we kill and call it a victory. I hope he is found safe and sound, cos I know you won't go looking for him, just like Netanyahu. Botragelad: |
Folks like you will never be wrong. So because it is rural and agriculture, the rules on road pavements do not apply? You are very intelligent and full ![]() aribisala0: |
It makes me wonder, if you are an Engineer...then again, do you know about stressors and tensors? compression and tension? You just want to insult...go and study. We know people like you. Poor drainage creates many problems for both users and road owners. Typically these are: 1) Traffic safety (hydroplaning and ice), poor drainage is a safety issue. Water may accumulate on the road like it does in ponds. Any accumulated water creates a risk of hydroplaning when the roads have rain on them. A wet road surface reduces friction which leads to longer distances needed to brake vehicles. Surface water can freeze during the night which can create an ice covered road. When this happens roads may become very slippery and hard to drive vehicles on. 2) Uncontrolled water flows and Culverts on roads can cause erosion. Small diameter and clogged culverts can cause water to flow towards the road and produce erosion. Water exiting from culverts can similarly cause erosion when it discharges directly on to erosive soil. The sensitive soil types for erosion are silt, silty moraine and sand. Vegetation can actually reduce erosion. 3) Reduced bearing capacity in the sub grade and road structures causing permanent deformation. Poor drainage and moisture is a main contributor to permanent deformation on roads. The earlier road projects in the United States have shown that in the Northern Climates permanent deformation is the main cause of undesirable rutting on low travel volume roads. This can result in reduced traffic safety, increased driver health issues, lowed bearing capacities, and higher costs for road owners and users. 4) Differential frost heaves tend to exhibit poor drainage when the road is not maintained as it should be. Frost heaves themselves cause unevenness and cracking on road systems. 5) Reduced pavement life time and increased pavement management costs. The most important factor triggering the need for paving is poor quality drainage. By improving the drainage conditions during construction and in critical sections of road systems; By maintaining these road systems it will increase the pavement lifetime by 1 ½- 2 times the life span of an unmaintained road. The conclusion is that if drainage maintenance and preventative maintenance is done properly it can lead to major savings for owners of roads and parking lots. Saving time and money by annual maintenance costs for paved road systems benefits everyone who comes in contact with these paved roads. https://www.newenglandsealcoating.com/the-importance-of-road-drainage/#:~:text=By%20improving%20the%20drainage%20conditions,span%20of%20an%20unmaintained%20road. aribisala0: |
Lo what is the maintenance policy in the US when it comes to road as opposed to Nigeria? Do you know that US has weigh stations and limits on vehicles that ply certain roads. Do we have such regulations and rules? Anyways, I will not join debate with you all. Drainage was not the only thing mentioned, but hey, you can latch into what makes you feel good. I love Nigeria, and I am doing my part. Hope you are doing yours and not just mouthing on social media. Lithiumite: |
Some were trying to explain why it is not necessary...until a trailer falls on its side, and they have to drive along untied roads adjacent to the main roads in gridlocks. We are used to suffering so I am not surprised some people feel it is not necessary lol Bluntemperor: |
If you are not following the news, do not blame me. A word is enough for the wise...I do not need to spell things out. Smart people know what I was referring to. You can go to bed now. ![]() blamingthedevil: |
So Abuja did not experience terrorism in the past. Interestingly yall will wonder why there is flooding ...if you can excuse proper planning and drainage, it shows why we are where we are. You dont create drainage due to population density. Drainage helps to elongate the lifetime of projects like road. Drainage helps to divert and prevent erosion. It also helps with development, because drainage would not be necessary and people would not build across drainage plains (except stupid Naija people). Go and learn from Dubai and other well developed countries. In 5 yrs, we will be back to doing the needful or return to do repairs. What is what doing is worth doing well. Lithiumite: |
See you justifying thiefing make I type you back in your own English . No one forced anyone to work where they are not being compensated well. That is the revolving cycle...you collect low pay, you normalize it. If everyone rejects low pay, employers will increase pay. If you say, well they do not have a choice...well everyone does. You can work for yourself. If you cannot figure it out, then accept the reality for few years, and stay on your own but destroying another man's investment is pure wickedness. It is people like you that will justify tenants destroying house anyhow because landlord did not do this or that. Let us call a spade a spade. Thief is Thief. badaru911: |
People that cry like her have regrets. Probably left a well paying job in Nigeria to japa only to see herself doing work she would not even appreciate others for in the past. If you are already struggling and have to struggle more, you wont have such regrets. That is why we tell those doing well...look before you leap, cos japa will test your mental health. Things you do not know about will start becoming a thing. - Mental Health - Lack of Sleep - Hallucinations - Migraines and Headaches Most of these i had no clue about them in Nigeria Kayzz34: |
Ukraine President is an idiot. When the war is over, how would the country ever recover? He agreed to fire into Russia. Russia would not mind to use all its arsenal on this war...it has no beef with other major countries unlike US that is always looking for trouble and needs to keep an array of weapons at disposal. Russia can launch Biological, Chemical or Nuclear...but this idiot of a Ukraine President is following orders from US/Europe. When it is all clear and done, do not be surprised if he is assassinated or given a poison. You may call Russia a bully, good for you...what has US been doing to Cuba, Haiti? What has China been doing to Taiwan, HongKong? Only an idiot would allow Ukraine to train with adversary next to its border. US is still punishing Cuba for contemplating allowing Russia warheads close to US...but US wants us to believe it is because of their phantom communist government while also buying products from communist China God1000: |
Targeted assassination --- look into his past cases or current ones. All promising lawyers need bulletproof vehicles and personal firearms. In the US, some professions are given licenses to carry firearms...lawyers and judges are definitely on that list. owukpa: |
He went to Nnewi without adequate security and bulletproof vehicle...even our Pastor no want to go to heaven won't do that...May his soul rest in peace. I suspect family members are looking to grab lands or properties, disguising themselves as unknown gunmen. madridguy: |
and where is that Senator from FCT that is always traveling to London lol? She will be voted out of office soon. On another note, they probably left the road so people can ride on the soil to compact it. For 9yrs though, no excuses...but it is clear Min. Wike works with those in the local communities to deliver dividends of democracy, and that is how he builds his structure ladies and gentlemen. When election comes, and he says this person will win Abuja or not, don't scream it is undemocratic. He who pours water on the ground will walk on wet soil. Live and Learn. Glimpsetv: |
Virgin lands are the best lands to do proper planning. You can create great main roads and auxiliary routes, then charge those interested in the lands a premium amount. You build all to specifications and make them well connected. This is one of the reasons why we are not productive. How can people be in traffic for hours day in day out? If we can connect easily, and create alternate routes, we can keep moving. Do well connected roads, put solar and encourage solar commercial on buildings...and people can work 24 hours a day. techbro1: |
The road needs drainage and other auxiliary routes. That's too long of a stretch without adjacent roads. If criminals block the main highway, o ti lo. If there are issues that need repairs, what will be the alternate option or options...maybe they want to sell the lands there so estates can develop along the main road and create auxiliary routes. We need to do better planning. Lagos-Ibadan has been congested, and there are no alternate roads even for short maintenance work. We need to do better and introduce tolls. Let private companies build faster routes and toll them, allowing others to use the longer free routes. Pick your choice. Dannupawa: |
Until I see the result of all this one year from now, I remain skeptical of all these trainings. I have come to realize workers do them for extra pay not to gain and apply knowledge. Kizito49: |
If I was a betting man, he may not get extradited if Trump is sworn in as President. Now, if we are truly serious, we need to send our top intelligence and defense men to Finland right away. On arrival, we need with those at the Embassy, and seek high level collaboration, then put the President on the phone with the Finnish President so this is given the high priority it deserves. If at the end of it all, Finland does not extradite, sanction and close its Nigeria Embassy and seize all communication...including closing Nigeria Embassy in Finland. US and most countries would not tolerate this nonsense. Biodun556: |
