Politics / Enugu Prophet: Neither Jonathan Nor Buhari will Be President by matrixx9(m): 1:10pm On Jan 13, 2015
About two weeks after the fiery Enugu
Catholic priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka,
stirred the hornet's nest predicting doom for
the nation should President Goodluck
Jonathan win the February 14 presidential
election, another Enugu-based prophet,
Anthony Nwoko yesterday foreclosed the
possibility of the Presidential candidate of
the opposition All Progressives Congress,
(APC), Muhammadu Buhari winning the
election.
Nwoko who had in 1993 prophesied the end
of the military regime of former head of
state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.) however
added a new dimension to the entire political
scenario by predicting that President
Goodluck Jonathan of the ruling People's
Democratic Party will also not be president
after next month's election.
The prophet who had had a running battle
with the authorities of the Celestial Church of
Christ over the church's headship however
refused to divulge what would become of the
nation since either of the two leading
presidential candidates "would not be
president by May 29, 2015", noting that God
will give the nation a new direction.
Prophet Nwoko who had also in 1998
prophesied that late military ruler, Gen. Sani
Abacha, would leave governance of Nigeria in
a mysterious way briefed newsmen in Enugu
on Monday on the state of the nation,
lamenting that the nation was turning very
ungodly.
"I had told IBB in 1993 to leave office and it
happened and in 1998, I prophesied that
Abacha would leave office mysteriously, and
you saw what happened," he said.
Speaking on the current Jonathan presidency
and the prospects of his reelection, Nwoko
said, "in 2010, I told Nigerians that they
should not expect much or any miracle from
Jonathan. Now, in this coming election,
Jonathan will only serve as John the Baptist
and Buhari has not got any heavenly crown
to rule and he will not rule this country
because he hasn't got that crown.
"Don't take my prophecies for granted
because I had also told Gen. Abdulsalam
Abubakar not to make Obasanjo president
and I had also warned Gen. Obasanjo not to
make late former President Yar'Adua
president and my advice was not heeded and
you saw what happened", he noted.

Politics / MEND Does Not Exist - Asari Dokubo by matrixx9(m): 4:57am On Jan 12, 2015
According to a Publication By This Day News,
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples
Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Asari-
Dokubo, has said the Movement for the
Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) is a
faceless organisation which no longer existed
as far as the struggle for people’s
emancipation in the region is concerned.
Speaking against the background of the
controversial statement issued last week by
MEND endorsing the candidacy of the
presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari
(rtd), the former militant leader described the
acronym, MEND, as a pseudonym being used
by the imprisoned Henry Okah to deceive
ignorant persons.
Asari Dokubo also said the name, Gbomo
Jomo, who always signed statements on
behalf of MEND, was not known to belong to
any nationality in the Niger Delta region.
“Our people say birds of a same feather flock
together, it is not strange that this
organisation is endorsing Buhari. First, I
have always maintained that there is nothing
like MEND.
“When I was in prison, the organisation I
lead, NDPVF, the NDPSF and other
organisations came together to stop arrest
and they formed a faceless organisation,
some guys, including Henry Okah, were sent
to me in Kuje prison for us to get a name
and my opinion on what they were going to
do, I accepted though majority of members of
NDPV resisted it, I told them that we should
be faceless and so they formed MEND.
“General Taminu was supposed to be the
head, but it does not exist, Alaibe was
supposed to be secretary, it does not exist.
Gbomo Jomo, which is not a name known to
any nationality in the Niger Delta does not
exist,” he said.
On the allegation made by President
Goodluck Jonathan that Henry Okah planned
to assassinate him, Dokubo said: “What the
president said is belated. The president had
known since 2007 that Henry Okah wanted to
kill him. For saying it, it is the fault of Ijaw
leaders including Chief E.K Clark who have
been sweeping this thing, it under the carpet.
And one day, the debris under the carpet will
become too much that the carpet will be
undulated.
“Now, it is undulated, the stench is coming
out and the President could no longer hold it.
He has now come out to say Henry Okah
wanted to assassinate him which was true.
Henry even said the President and myself are
not Ijaw people.
He debunked media reports credited to him
that he was going to invade Yoruba land,
saying “There was no such statement.
Everybody knows that when I make a
statement, I own up to it. There is no such
thing. I never made it. You know, a lot of
times, they ascribe a lot of things to me.”

Politics / INEC To Publish List Of Voters On Tuesday by matrixx9(m): 8:29am On Jan 08, 2015
The Independent National Electoral
Commission ( INEC ) will on Tuesday
publish the voters register – one month
to the election - in line with the
Electoral Act .
Mr . Kayode Idowu , INEC Chairman Prof .
Attahiru Jega ’s spokesman, said
yesterday that the register will be on
display to allow for public scrutiny for
claims and objections.
The publication of the register will end
the anxiety over the list . Those who
have not registered will no longer be
able to do so before the elections.
Idowu said those who registered during
the continous Voter Registration ( CVR)
and those whose names are on the
register but yet to pick up their
Permanent Voter Cards ( PVCs), will still
be free to have the cards until the end
of the month .
The elections are slated for February 14
and 28.
The list will be published in line with
Section 19 (i) of the Electoral Act , 2010
as amended.
Section 9 ( 5) of the Act also forbids
INEC from registering any person not
later than 30 days before any election .
Section 19( 5 ) directs the commission to
publish names of those expected to
participate in the April 14th and 15 th
general elections forthwith.
The section reads: “Subject to the
provisions of section 9( 5 ) of this Act ,
the Commission shall , by notice ,
appoint a period of not less than five
days and not exceeding 14 days, during
which a copy of the voters’ register for
each local government , Area Councillor
ward shall be displayed for public
scrutiny and during which period any
objection or complaint in relation to
names omitted or included in the
voters ’ register or relation to any
necessary correction, shall be raised or
filed .”
Section 9 (5 ) states : “ The registration of
voters , updating and revision of the
register of voters under the section
shall stop not later than 30 days before
any election covered by this Act ”
INEC is contemplating carving out
constituencies for Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs ) among other possible
options , to ensure their participation in
the elections.
The committee set up to look into
various possibilities has submitted a
report after working for two weeks.
IDP camps have been created in Yobe ,
Borno and Adamawa states , which have
been under attack of insurgents.
Idowu said : “One option is to designate
a safe haven as a constituency ,
because the law prescribes constituency
and residency voting. You can
designate a safe area as a safe haven
and invite everybody to come to that
constituency from wherever they dwell
within or outside the country to come
over and cast their votes.
“ If you have possibility of IDP camps
being homogenous in terms of where
people migrated from , you can move
the polling units and get them to vote .
So there are many options that the
security can work with but essential it
will still need security cover to do these
things .”
Jega has been invited by the House of
Representatives to explain the plan for
the elections.
The lawmakers are concerned about the
chances of the country’s 3 .3 million
Internally Displaced Persons ( IDPs)
voting in the elections.
The meeting has been fixed for January
20 .
The Chairman , House Committee on
Electoral Matters , Jerry Manwe , the
INEC boss and his team are expected to
elaborate on INEC ’s level of
preparedness .
Funding , security and franchise of IDPs
as well as other sundry matters will be
discussed

Politics / How To Stop Corruption In Nigeria by matrixx9(m): 12:59pm On Jan 06, 2015
In Nigeria, The alarming rate of corruption is rapidly increasing . This calls for severe actions and anti corruption policies to be put in place. Nigerians should be wondering what the so called national conference has added to the development of this country. It is therefore right for the
citizens to choose the best anti corruption policies to be taken by their representatives.
It is quite unfortunate that corrupt leaders are capitalising on the fact that Nigerians are
peace loving people to carry out fraudulent transactions. If Nigerians took to the streets
like citizens Middle-Eastern countries and became violent ,These leaders would sit up and
do their jobs properly. A comprehensive review of the Nigerian Constitution should be carried out
and the proper amendments made

Below i will outline the best measures to stop corruption in Nigeria

REMOVAL OF IMMUNITY CLAUSE FROM ERRING STATE EXECUTIVES

The misconduct of most governors is getting so much that many Nigerians are wondering
if the constitution needs to be amended , I must say that removing Immunity clause would
help reduce corruption drastically,in the sense that it exposes the governor to civil and criminal prosecution while in office.
The specification that it should strip immunity clause from erring
governors only is to avoid unnecessary interference with the actions of state governors.Under the current constitution, The President and State Executives Are immune from indictment while in office. The reason behind this can be easily explained- Indicting an incumbent governor or president would interfere with the executive's capacity and its ability to perform its constitutionally assigned functions and thus would be inconsistent with the present constitutional structure. However there is certainly no good reason to leave a dormant governor to keep stealing at the expense of the poor masses. Therefore any legally elected executive of a state should be stripped of immunity once he is found wanting. The best way to monitor the actions of governors is the appointment of a six or seven-man comittee that its constitutional duty would be to go on a tour of every state in the federation and report the state of things to the predident. This commitee would go on an impromptu visit to the states in order to prevent the state governor of the state they are visiting from being aware of their presence.

ELECTED OFFICIALS SHOULD PRESENT PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF DECLARATION OF ASSETS

Most Nigerian Lawmakers who carry out these corrupt practices and are not indicted because there declaration of assets
has already been planned and forged with no physical proof. A typical Nigerian Lawmaker who plans to steal 100 million while
in office would declare the value of his assets as 105 million naira, this is in order to avoid being probed when he leaves office.
In a setting where he does not show physical proof off those assets, and he is believed.

INDICTED OFFICIALS SHOULD BE BANNED FROM ALL POLITICAL PARTIES/PLACED ON A JAIL TERM NOT LESS THAN 16 YEARS

Any Individual who is found to be carrying out fraudulent and corrupt actions while in office should be banned from associating with
any political party . This includes banning the official from entering any constitutionally elected official's office or lodge. If he fails to comply
with the above rules, he should be sent to jail. In Nigeria, There are claims that anti corruption policies are in place but the court of law still
shows mercy to these men who should be locked up behind bars for trying to make profit at the expense of the poor masses. It is laughable to
say that in Nigeria,A man who may steal 100 million, may be asked to bail himself with 300,000 and a surety which is not even up to what he stole
this is caused by the lack of independence of the judiciary

THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE COUNTRY SHOULD BE ELECTED BY FELLOW LAWYERS NOT APPOINTED BY THE EXECUTIVE ARM OF GOVERNMENT

This act practically hinders the full function of the judiciary as an independent institution. The judiciary works hand in hand with the legislative and the
executive arm of government .In a situation where the individuals in charge of the executive and legislative arm of government are elected by the masses
the head of the judiciary should not be selected by the executive because this makes it hard for the judiciary to check the errors of the judiciary.
Due to the fact that most people are not aware of the judges who are incorruptible, in this democratic system of government , lawyers should vote the
person whom they feel is good enough to take charge of the supreme court

PARENTS SHOULD TEACH THEIR CHILDREN GOOD MORALS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW

It is always good to try to fix a problem from the source. Parents should try as much as possible to make to give their children
a good moral upbringing and a very good foundation .

The message i have for my fellow Nigerian youths is simple and straightfoward,''Until Nigerian Youths Step Forward And Take What Rightfully Belongs To
Them , Nigeria would remain corrupt. I rest my case.

Religion / Akwa Ibom Unity Choir Breaks Guinness World Record by matrixx9(m): 7:24am On Jan 05, 2015
THE Akwa Ibom State choral group has broken
the world record for the largest number of
Christmas carol singers in the world. The
record, which has been officially certified by
the Guinness World Records and pasted on its
website, www.guinessworldrecords.com, was
broken by the unity choir, a 25,272 man-
choral group, in a concert in the Uyo Township
Stadium on Saturday, December 13, 2014 with
Guinness World Records representatives in
attendance. The record consigned to the
history books the former record of 15,674
carol singers, which was achieved the previous
year (December 15, 2013), by a group known
as CENTI in Bogota, Columbia.
The Akwa Ibom unity choir sang a medley of
The First Noel, Joy to the World, O Christmas
Tree, Hark the Herald the Angels Sing, Once in
Royal David’s City and O Come All Ye Faithful
in an electrifying rendition which lasted more
than twenty minutes.
Guinness World Records adjudicator, Liz
Smith, who did the announcement in Guinness
World Record Headquarters, London, United
Kingdom congratulated the choir and said “It
is now time to reveal the report of the official
attempt to break the Guinness World Record of
the largest group of carol singers. Our team of
highly trained record specialists have reached
a decision. The record to beat was 15,674. I
can now confirm that your attempt to break
the record has been successful.
Congratulations on receiving a new Guinness
World Records Title. The title of the largest
group of carol singers has been achieved by
Godswill Akpabio Unity Choir. You are
officially amazing.”
Breaking the news to Akwa Ibom people,
Governor Godswill Akpabio said “This month,
we broke the Guinness Book of World Records,
for the largest number of carol singers ever in
the world. This momentous feat was achieved
when Akwa Ibom people drawn from all the
nooks and crannies of the state came together
in the spirit of love and brotherhood. I believe
that if we imbibe the virtue of love and stand
together in brotherhood in the New Year, we
would keep setting records and the walls of
division, which have been erected by some
selfish politicians, would tumble down.”
In his comments the Permanent Secretary,
Protocol, Akwa Ibom State Government, and
organizer of the record-breaking choir, Mr
Aniekpeno Tom Mkpanang, described the
Guinness World Record as “another feather to
the cap of a record breaking governor who has
already garnered record breaking accolades
and honours for his great visionary leadership
from the academia, churches, traditional
institutions and the global community. Many
of these institutions are places you cannot
buy records from, which dispels the notion of
sceptics that most such awards are bought.
With this record from Guinness, earth and
heaven celebrate him.”
