Just to play the devil's advocate, the HOR have extended a hand of friendship and peace to the Executive. I expect the Executive to return the favour, by admitting their errors and ineptitude ( No one is perfect). The President, should now accept this token of friendship and input the new additions into a supplementary budget, and thus pass the 2016 budget into effect, while the NASS reviews and peruses through the remaining errors in the budget |
ghuzy01:God proposes |
IamAtribalist:.[/quote]A divided and rowdy wild wild west APC will make the ground level for any upstart and darkhorse to seize the political machinery for his use. A united APC will make it easier for the ACN and CPC to neglect and outmanoeuvre any NPDP hopeful "I believe the Clinton campaign told CNNthat their strategy is, 'we go into New York and Pennsylvania. Disqualify him, defeat him and unify the party later,'" he saidhttp://www.cnn.com/2016/04/06/politics/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-qualified/index.html |
Allegations without verifiable proof is tantamount to professional recklessness. SR should act with etiquette and journalistic responsibility. Or do they want to publish another rebuttal and apology. |
amaechi1:Saraki, as a Nigerian citizen is allowed, any means, within the law to fight his case, as he sees suitable for him. Secetary Clinton is currently being investigated and has been invited by the FBI to answer questions on her private Email accounts. She is still running for president, and has alleged times without number that it is a witch hunt. |
Were in this, is there evidence of a contractual agreement between the Senate president and the activist. It is not a crime, for groups and unions to show support or organise rallies for political leaders. As we speak, in Brazil, there are tons of Rouseef's supporters at the Parliament building showing their support for her, as the committee debates her impeachment. From one journalist to another, SR should get their acts together |
I would like the judges of the CCT to see this trial to the end. It has helped in exposing some of the frivolous spending engaged in by our leaders. But also, i would like anything that helps scuttle the nasty dictatorial plans by the Executive |
This is day 2 of the President's visit to China, and i am yet to see a picture of our president with Xi Jinping. If the Chinese were truly sincere, the first port of call should have been a tet a tet between both Presidents. |
Mrs Bianca should not soil her dignity by dignifying this publicity stunt with a response. She should instead, act with grace and decorum, by being silent on the matter. She is a lady of substance and rubbish statements such as that alleged by Mrs Olunloyo, are best left ignored. In this matter, both women are totally wrong. They are simply giving Nigerian men something silly and misogynistic to wetdream on. They should be brainstorming on how to help the girl child find her place in the world. Instead they are wasting valuable time, helping restore FFK's pride. |
Keneking:The case is still pending in court. Wait for the judgement |
ISpiksDaTroof:The article is an old one. It was a press release by Reno Omikri when GEJ was still president. The OP is just being mischievous. Also David Cameron was said to have benefited from the tax haven, from an inheritance from his father. Besides the outbursts from some members of the labour party, London hasn't gone up in flames. Also, learn to be respectful to your elders. |
Some of Nigeria's most fantastic projects are only feasible on the blueprints in the federal ministry of works. Amaechi only smuggled in this project to cause a division between the Executive and the legislature. President Goodluck Jonathan is not one to waste his time on a project that is not politically feasible. This project is dead on arrival. It is simply a political publicity stunt |
Just to play the devil's advocate, the Governor is right. Any government that does not know how to lobby the legislature for a joint agreement on how to implement their programs is a useless government. Obama, is as we speak, trying fervently to lobby sympathetic Republican senators on accepting and confirming Merrick Garland for the supreme court |
There is nothing new here. Various state governments have been signing agreements with foreign investors on agricultural development projects. The problem has always been implementation, maintenance and consistency. Besides, the Anambra state government signed a deal with a local firm to build a poultry and a farm. The governor didn't have to travel outside the country to do this http://www.channelstv.com/2015/04/30/obiano-signs-61m-poultry-farming-mou-with-lynden-farms/ http://www.boosahmamanews.com/anambra-state-obiano-lays-foundation-for-15-billion-agric-farm/ |
stonemind:Clarify your statement |
MadCow1:They should be subservient to the constitution. They should be bent and made as weak as the FBI http://www.wired.com/2016/03/fbi-drops-case-apple-finding-way-iphone/ |
Very good. We must ensure that our regulatory institutions do not become Strong arm instruments for the Executive to use in making the other arms of government dance to their tune. |
I am at this point forced to clear the air on the Lagos Calabar railway controversy. This issue has began to eat at the fabric of our unity. This issue has began to pit the south against the north, has been blown way out of proportion. Let me begin on what the real truth is. Be open minded The first fact is that the NASS and the Executive are both united (partially divided) in most matters, especially the area of budget spending and allocation. Both of them understand that a little mistake can push our economy into recession The second fact is that, our economy can not support our current budget, and we currently do not have the proper credit rating to solicit for funds from the international financial market to meet up with the requirements of the budget. The World bank and the IMF have sent out feelers to every major financial institution to deny us any loan of whatever kind that will be beyond our debt service ratio. Remember Lagarde's words http://m.guardian.ng/news/nigeria-has-no-need-for-loans-says-imf/ Nigeria can not get the 900 billion naira needed to complete the budget. That is a fact. The Executive , the NASS and the ministry of finance are all waiting for the international price to peg at $60 per barrel, so as to appear financially attractive to the financial markets. At such a benchmark the President would be in a better position to solicit for loans from sympathetic international and local financial institutions. The fact is that both the ruling party, the opposition, the NASS and the Executive are together in their attempt to hoodwink and distract the electorate from the facts on the ground. Everyone is waiting for an improvement in the international oil markets. But unfortunately their well scripted melodrama has spun out of control and is now tearing the country apart. The President should tell Nigerians the truth and damn the consequences, for it is better for the nation to be aware of our financial moribundity at the present, than for the nation to be thrown into a disunited war, that could be permanent. |
Another misleading supposed dividend. So far as the Yuen does not replace the Dollar, this is completely useless to our development. Also the Chinese yuen is at a negative right now, so this will only help them to export and flood our markets with their goods. This is a one way street |
WORTHY OF COMMENDATIONHon Rotimi Amaechi:We must commend Hon Rotimi Amaechi for his bold step to find ways to inject the Lagos-Calabar rail project into the budget and also seek way to fund it without going beyond his ministry's allocation. I am no fan of Rotimi Amaechi but he deserves credit and not knocks. Those calling for his resignation over this issue should hide their faces in shame. This assertion is completely wrong. The minister for transport, is solely responsible for the cacophony that is currently bedeviling the NASS and the executive. Rotimi Amaechi should have lobbied for the inclusion of a rail line running from Lagos to Calabar, prior to the submission of the budget by the president to the national assembly. The minister should have used his office and influence to pass across his proposal directly to the President or through the chief of staff or SGF. That is the way it is done in civilized climes. But knowing Amaechi from his past antecedents, it is very obvious that the minister used this controversial project as a means to drive a wedge between the Executive and the NASS, in his twisted plot to position himself for a much lucrative political position come 2019. The OP, should know that Amaechi does not care about any form of development in the South-south. Amaechi only cares about Amaechi |
Adminisher:Fayose is not completely wrong. We have to be careful not to accumulate too much debt |
kenonze:That is not Fayose. Please discontinue with this facade |
I will gladly vote for GEJ, a true hero of negro struggle |
We all need a little restraint. |
Though i am not a big fan of Linda, I've to agree with her on this one. Mr Wizkid, or whatever you call yourself, you are a disgrace to your mum and all the women in your family. I would implore you to seek forgiveness from Linda and God, before everything in your life starts turning around. I thought you claimed that you are Baba Nla and that whatever you have is final. So your rent should be final aswell. Blaming Linda for spilling the truth won't help matters. Go and pay your rent. And also Linda is too decent to hang around with your ragtag director. P.S: Why will linda need a man, when she already has everything she ever wanted. |
I couldn't make out the section of the thread which highlighted the chairman begging Nigerians to accept the PDP. The Mods have to begin enforcing the need for commentators to put up clear definitive titles that relate to the stories. Now, back to the story, if the APC and its sympathizers keep spreading this story of their indomitably position, then am afraid that they have already lost, three years before the election commences |
This should be in the sports section. Besides, we have other more serious, contentious issues to discuss. How many Nigerians watched the match with local DISCO electrical supply |
Arrant nonsense |
Mr Timi Frank, has always held views which run in contrast to the general consensus of the APC hierarchy. So, it's not a strange story. But, to be fair, if the FG doesn't handle this CCT trail intellectually, it could end up leading to their end |
With due respect, the president's comment is MINDLESS |
t it was strange for Buhari to more concerned with the killing of 16 people in Cote D’Ivoire when the Fulani herdsmen’s murder over 300 citizens of Nigeria. The governor is right, about this. If the President can spend time to issue a press statement on the attacks, in Ivory Coast, then why not show same in your own domain, by publicly condemning the Agatu killings, and ensuring that the culprits are brought to book |
If they are qualified for the positions they eventually occupied, then there is no issue. Except, due process was negated, the CBN have no case to answer. In institutions, like the IMF, World bank, and so, political references are very influential, and that is the ugly truth |

How would driving a wedge between Aso Rock and NASS help Amaechi? How would it reward him with a much lucrative position in the future? Unless you are saying Amaechi used the drama to draw attention to himself so he can appear to be fighting for the people - in which case I would say he is wasting his time since party bosses (not the masses) decides who gets to eat at the big table. Anyway clarify yourself maybe I am missing your point.
