The minister for culture and information, Lai Mohammed today cleared the air on the APC 5000 Naira welfare scheme. He stated this today on the Channelstv Sunrise daily. He stated that the Presiden had shelved the plan, and had decided to put the money meant for the execution of the project to other more important areas. These were his points * The president's argument is superior, and he is right to allocate the money for other developmental projects * The President will invest in a robust Budget stimulus spending which will be geared towards, the less vulnerable, artisans, old, and maybe unemployed. This, according, to the minister, will help to kick start the economy * There is confusion, in the media about the money budgeted and what it is really budgeted for * The media took the words of the ruling party out of context This should help to put to rest the debate, on if the government still intends to continue with their CAMPAIGN promise http://www.channelstv.com/2016/03/14/fg-clear-policy-nigerias-economy-lai-mohammed/lai-mohammed-nigeria-minister-of-information/ |
Another policy Summersault. Unbundling and reorganization are one and the same. Ibe Kachukwu should face the blues and be immediately sent on a compulsory sabbatical. Enough is enough on the mismanagement and indirection by this administration. President Buhari must start making scapegoats of some funny ministers in his cabinet, the worst part is that when the news broke out, there were those who where cheering him on. |
APC and their midday blues. |
The OP's assertions carry a lot of weight and might be true. His questions deserve serious thought and answers not insults. |
DICKtator:You are a chauvinistic pig |
This looks like blackmail by the FG in their power play against the party. What is obvious is that the President is in a battle for power against the ruling party. Just another reason to paint the President in good light. |
The minister for Agriculture, Prince Audu Ogbeh, in a conversation with Mr Amaechi of Political platform raypower FM clarified his earlier statement on the importation of Grass from Brazil. According to the minister, he meant that the FG would import the seedlings of grass from Brazil and not the grass itself. He further went to claim that the misinterpretation of his comment was by ediotic critics and uninformed people. http://dailytimes.com.ng/fg-import-grass-seedlings-not-grass-min-agriculture-ogbeh-clarifies/ |
I believe the allegation made by the Ekiti state governor to be true, but I doubt the President is aware of such an action. I can recall his interview by CNN's Amanpour just after he won the elections. I remember he vehemently denied being aware of the draconian activities which were popular during his first stint in power. The same scenarios maybe at work again. But the onus is on the governor to make his fears known to the President before the allegation becomes a Part of political history |
He did the same as a onetime FCT minister, and is widely said to be the best minister of the FCT since its creation, so maybe we should wait till the end of his tenure and judge him by his pros and cons. Notwithstanding the public still should make their views known. Criticism is the best form of followership |
very ridiculous statement. The president should learn to guard his statements. He should produce unverifiable proof that the lines used by suspected Boko Haram members were unregistered MTN lines, before making such allegations |
Ndume and Dino Melaye raised an issue that is hotly discussed in the streets and market squares in Nigeria. The NASS is a public discourse for the discussion and debates of Nigerian issues. So what is the ish about the points they raised |
Oby should keep quiet and focus on continuing her self agenda on claiming she is a representative for Nigerian women. After her double standards on the Chibok saga and the Ese debacle, she is not in the best position to shout blue murder on the shenanigans of the NASS |
SUPERPACK:I help out on weekends as my personal humanitarian giveback to the community. That does not mean I work at LUTH |
In a recent interview of the President conducted by the NTA, on the president's trip to Doha, Qatar, I couldn't help but notice that the president's speech was flawed, and showed signs of the President having suffered from a transient stroke. His pronunciation was very sketchy and his speech was incoherent. From my experience of dealings with stroke and hypertensive patients in LUTH, I can say without much doubt that the president suffered a stroke in Qatar. Watch the video and observe without bias https://m.youtube.com/watch?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C4597508414 |
The Senate President has been hit with call someone for his resignation owning to his failure to have the Supreme Court squash his trial at the CCT. My humble opinion is that the SP should discountenance this calls, as voices of discord and bitterness. Many have said he should emulate political office holders abroad who did likewise, in the heat of scandals. These are the names of political office holders who didn't bow to public outcry, for their resignation. 1, Hillary Clinton who was accused of incompetence and high handness during the benghazi scandal, did not resign, but later stepped down due to her battle with cancer at the time. Hillary, Now is contesting for the office of president, amidst calls for her, to step aside, due to allegations of using private emails to send official messages and exchanging information, a crime seen as treason 2, Bill Clinton: During the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, the then president of the US refused to resign even after he was caught to have misled the country 3, French Justice minister Taubira has recently refused to resign over allegations she was aware of wire taps on Sarkozy |
Joachim Gauck is an ex-member of the Green party/the Alliance90. All parties which are socialist in nature just like the APC. Unlike Merkel who is a member of the Christian democratic union, which is a liberal party |
Ever since the 8th of February when the NLC began its showdown with the Minister of power, NERC and the Disco's and GENCO's, Nigerians have opened their mouths and poured out their hearts on the matter. Some have spoken on the side of the FG, while some have lent their support to the NLC. These are the worst arguments that I have heard online and on various media platforms. 1, Where was the NLC when the agreement was reached between the FG and NERC 2, The hike was effected by the Disco's and not the ministry of power 3, The NLC is just looking for it's own share of the National cake 4, The PDP is the architect of the picketing by the NLC 5, The SE are the one's driving this campaign 6, It is as a result of the resistance by the people who are holding this country down 7, It is corruption fighting back 8, It's all the cause of the GEJ administration 9, Fashola is an elitist 10, The Disco's just want to increase tariff to annoy the people |
I have consistently insisted on the shuffling of the President's cabinet, especially in the area of finance and budgeting. Both Aunty Kemi and Uncle Udoma have no business managing the nation's financial fortunes. If nothing is done swiftly, we will be in a huge mess before the year runs out. The precariousness of our current situation vis a vis the global economic malaise calls for an experienced Financial guru versed in the area of monetary and development economics, global finance not just a microeconomics beginner |

obasiken:so we should leave them to starve, because of the ignoble situation, according to you. If that is the case, why did you vote for PMB if you knew, he would eventually resort to doing the bidding of the oligarch 1% |
Feb 9, 2016, 4:18 AMPresident Barack Obama is unveiling his eighth and final budget, a $4 trillion-plus proposal that's freighted with liberal policy initiatives and new and familiar tax hikes — all sent to a dismissive Republican-controlled Congress that simply wantsto move on from his presidency. http://abcnews.go.com/m/story?id=36801662&sid=77 resident Obama is asking Congress for a historic $1.8 billion to combat the Zika virus -- though he previously tried to cut funding to the same agency now responsible for tackling the virus sweeping South and Central America and the Caribbean. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/02/08/obama-asking-congress-for-1-8-billion-in-emergency-funding-to-combat-zika.html President Muhammadu Buhari has presented 6.08 Trillion Naira budget proposal for 2016 to a joint session of the National Assembly. The budget is predicatedon $38 per barrel oil benchmark; 197 Naira exchange rate. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2015/12/buhari-presents-n608-trillion-budget.html |
Now that the sun has set on the financial antics of the CBN and the minister of finance, aunty Kemi, it is becoming clear we are in a pickle. The Worldbank and IMF have both rejected our loan application and told our minister of finance to face her job and manage the nation's finances, instead of looking for manna from heaven. The worldbank's position was much expected, since the IMF had earlier rejected our application, with clear reasons, pointing towards our poor balance of payments and huge deficit. Why the finance minister chose to go behind the back of the IMF to acquire the loan is best left to our imagination. But now, Aunty Kemi has decided to continue with her ignoble agenda, by now heading to the AFDB. She probably thinks that Adeshina being the head of the bank, will look the other way and Grant her request. I hope the ex-agricultural minister will use his brains and decorum to refuse the finance minister, and thus save us from increasing our debt ratio. I implore every financial institution both local and foreign to shut their doors to the finance minister. It is high time the FG begins to manage our economy from within, by cutting of our dependence on oil, not squandering when it is the time of boom and borrowing when we are in recession. The time to be wise is now, not tomorrow. http://www.punchng.com/fg-asks-afdb-for-1bn-budget-support-loan/ |
Nothing new, we've all been there. Who in this forum, has not had the need to modify an error in his/her post |
If the President is truly concerned about fighting corruption, disorder and the massive impropriety in the system, then he should have a rethink, call a press conference and denounce this award. If not, then like King Solomon, he has began on a slippery slope to failure. |
A friend and young daughter of mine on twitter beautifully showed the lapses in the honorary award given by the university to our amiable President. This is the best form of corruption. I hope our anti corruption executive government will backtrack and analyze their mistake

Below is a tweet and clear confirmation of the evils of the NA and the executive. Its been almost 24 hours since the incident, and still no word or explanation from the government. Worse is the fallacious excuse, by the NA. Please before you scream SAI BUHARI, just take a look at this picture, and imagine if she was a family member http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/195138-why-we-attacked-zakzaky-other-shiite-members-nigerian-army.html

PassingShot:You are missing the point. What about the allegation of abuse of office, that the young man raised. Is it right, for the DSS to ignore and flagrantly abuse the ruling of a court. What explanation are you waiting for. |
"FORMER National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki has made some “mind- boggling” revelations on the $2billion “phoney” arms contracts, a source said" This is where I stopped. The Nation newspapers should not heatup the polity, by basing their stories on a supposed and unverifiable source |
