As humans we never had the power to decide the day we are to be born on earth, when birth pangs beckoned on our mother, we had no idea when and how we’ll come to life. It is similar to being born again, we do not have the power to decide the day nor can we chose to be born again, God decides who will be born again and when to be born. Do not be deceived by those claiming to represent God who “administer born again” as if it’s a close we just wear and pull anytime we want. Happy Sunday all.

PoliticsWilly Obiano Warns Nnamdi Kanu: Steer Clear Of Anambra Elections Or Risk Arrest by maximunimpact(op): 7:53pm On Jul 19, 2017
The Anambra governor, Willie Obiano, on Wednesday warned the Indigenous People Of Biafra to steer clear of the state during the November 18 poll.

The governor threatened to go after anybody who would pose a threat to the poll, no matter how highly placed.

The governor, who insisted that there would be election in the state, said the pro-Biafra agitators had no powers anywhere in the law to stop the poll.

He warned those planning to disrupt the election to have a rethink or be ready to face the full weight of the law.

He said “We are going to go after them, we will deal with those who said there would be no election in the state decisively.

“People are free to vote the candidates of their choice, you can see that in Anambra state today people now sleep with their two eyes closed,” he insisted.

PoliticsBuhari’s Presidential Plane Parked In London Gulps N84mln In 60 Days by maximunimpact(op): 7:30am On Jul 10, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidential plane parked in London since May 10 have cost Nigeria a total sum of 84,000,000 naira so far. According to reports, Nigeria’s presidential plane costs $4,000 daily. Buhari has been on an indefinite medical leave in UK hospital over an undisclosed illness.

The recent disclosure that a presidential aircraft has been parked on the tarmac in a London airport since May 10, 2017 and the explanations offered by an aide to the President, Mr Garba Shehu have raised issues which must be resolved now in order not to establish a precedent that will come back to haunt this nation in the future.

The report claimed that it costs Nigeria $4,000 everyday in parking fees to keep the aircraft on standby for Buhari, or a total of N80 million for the first 50 days since returned to London for treatment. But Shehu said even if the usual waivers were not granted it would not cost more than $1,000 a day or N20 million for the period.

Nobody denies that the President of Nigeria deserves private aircraft in order to perform his functions with utmost security. The controversy has always been about the prudent number of aircraft which should be in the presidential fleet given the nation’s poor economy.

As a candidate, Buhari campaigned vigorously against what he regarded as waste when former President Jonathan operated a fleet of ten. As an elected president, Buhari only reluctantly gave up two of the aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force after a lot of angry denunciations. Even that, the transfer was not real because, as the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, the two aircraft are still under his control.

We would not join issues if it were merely a matter of the aircraft waiting for the President for a few days or even weeks. The main issue here is that the President is away for an indefinite period, an indefinite medical vacation can cost the nation dearly and avoidably in parking fees.

This is against the spirit of prudent use of public property and spending of public finance, which the President campaigned for as a candidate for election.

A second reason for supporting the return of the aircraft to Nigeria pending when it is needed to bring back the President, is that its presence at the British airport is attracting unfavourable global attention to the fact that Nigeria is incapable of providing adequately at home for the health needs of its people, including its leader.

For now, on compassionate grounds, we do not want to join issues with those putting pressure for constitutional instruments to be raised in determining the President’s ability to continue in office. We need to allow him more time to recuperate. But in the meantime, the presidential aircraft should be returned to Nigeria and called back to duty whenever it is needed to bring back the President.

PoliticsReno Omokri Backs #freeevans Campaign by maximunimpact(op): 10:07pm On Jun 17, 2017
A presidential aide to Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has voiced his support for the #FreeEvans campaign currently trending calling for the release of notorious kidnap kingpin Chukwudemeje George Onwamadike, aka Evans.

According to Reno Omokri; “Evans is bad, but how is he different from our leaders? Evans kills people. They also kill”.

“Evans steal. They also steal. Evans begs. They also beg! In fact, there are leaders who have and are still doing all three much more than Evans. Yet here we are castigating Evans and praising such leaders”.

“Those of us who are old enough will even remember a certain notorious kidnapper leader who almost successfully kidnapped by crate his greatest critic. Am I lying”?

According to Police authorities, for seven years, Evans was slippery, and had managed to escape detection or arrest.

He was, however, arrested last Saturday, June 10, after a police special squad caught up with him at his No. 3, Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo, Lagos home.

His arrest was attended by a fierce gun battle which lasted several hours, law enforcement agents claim.

He has confessed to being responsible for many high-profile kidnap cases spanning several states of the country, the most critical of which took place in Lagos, with at least one incident leading to the death of about four persons.

He has also confessed to earning money running into billions of naira from his unlawful activities, having charged some of his victims up to $1m each as ransom.

PoliticsEFCC Denies Intimidating Sun Newspaper Reporters by maximunimpact(op): 7:48pm On Jun 12, 2017
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has denied reports alleging intimidation of staff and reporters of Sun Newspaper.

According to a media statement released by Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity of the EFCC as obtained by FINANCIAL WATCH; “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the early hours of today, June 12, 2017 visited the head office of the Sun Newspaper in Lagos”.

“The visit which lasted for less an hour was part of routine efforts to ascertain the state of the assets of the publishing company which is subject of subsisting interim forfeiture order”.

“Prior to the visit, the Commission had written to the management of the company to account for its management of the assets for the period of the subsisting court order”.

“The Commission still awaits the response of the Sun and will not be distracted by any attempt to whip up sentiments by alluding to an appeal which has been pending for ten years. The Commission’s action is without prejudice to any appeal and only meant to verify the integrity of the assets”.

“Contrary to claims in a statement released to the media by the management of the Sun, no staff of the media outfit was molested or intimidated for the few minutes that operatives of the Commission spent in the premises of the company. The claim that “EFCC operatives subjected our staff to crude intimidation, psychological and emotional trauma, even as some of the men accused our organization of publishing pro-Biafra, Boko Haram , and Niger Delta Militant stories ,” is strange and clearly the figment of the imagination of the Sun”.

“There was no reason to molest anybody as the commission has always related professionally with the publishing outfit. The attempt also to link the visit to the acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu’s threat to sue the organization over a libelous publication is also diversionary. Magu is pursuing that option in his private capacity and his lawyer, Wahab Shittu, did write the Sun and his letter was widely published in the media on March 31, 2017”.

How Nigerian police handles small thief vs big thief

Yesterday the officers of the Nigerian Police force celebrated the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, a multi billion naira man with luxurious lifestyle. Reports have it that he wears a wrist watch worth $170,000.

While it was a feat worth celebrating and talked about, there are certain observations from the parade and it looks weired.

1. The Evans kidnapper appeared so confident in photos as opposed to a remorseful and terrified criminal we see in the past
2. The officers did not rough handle him like of men on black normally do
3. He appeared like one of our politicians like Dasuki, Metu, and FFK on their way to court
4. The officers parading him appeared like escorts
5. All gang members well seated vs other cases where they seat on the ground

We just hope we'll see the end of this matter and not swept under the rug as soon as Nigerians forget

PoliticsUS Govt To Train 16 EFCC Staff On Effective Communication by maximunimpact(op): 10:53am On Jun 09, 2017
Sixteen staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, would be trained in the art of effective communication, as part of efforts by the United States Government, to assist the anti-graft agency in taking its anti-corruption crusade to the grassroots.

At the formal launch of the project tagged, “Effective Communication and Public Relations for Nigeria Law Enforcement Agencies”, in Abuja, on June 6, 2017, Aruna Amirthanayagam, Counsellor, Public Affairs of the US Mission to Nigeria, noted that the project was expected to strengthen criminal justice law in the country.

“The project is structured to help enhance cooperation and build trust among citizens, in order to make Nigeria a better place,” he said, noting that citizen participation was essential to winning the war against corruption.

According to Benson Olugbuo, CLEEN Foundation’s Executive Director,”The project seeks to strengthen relations between law enforcement agencies and the citizenry through improved and effective communication, in order to improve transparency and accountability,” he said.

Olugbuo hinted that the choice of the EFCC for the “pilot phase” of the project was based on the fact that “the EFCC has been very active in citizen engagement”.

“The aim is to ensure that staff of the EFCC gain and advance their skills for improved and effective communication with the public towards increasing transparency and accountability,” he said.

According to him, the project, which was also in partnership with the United States, US Embassy in Nigeria, would be extended to other security agencies in the future. He noted that 50 police officers would also benefit from the first phase of the project.

The acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, who was represented at the launch, by the Commission’s Secretary, Emmanuel Aremo, commended the Foundation and the US Embassy, for their unrelenting support for the EFCC.

“There is an urgent need for citizen participation in the fight against corruption, because while the EFCC does its best, it still needs members of the society to adequately key into the anti-corruption crusade,” he said.
