Buhari Is The Last Hope Of The Fight Against Curruption In Nigeria by maximunimpact(m): 9:34am On May 04, 2013 THE FOLLoWING ARE ONLY IN MY OPINION: Since the return to civil rule in 1999, Nigeria have been engulfed in a wild range of curruption, but never have we witnessed a wide and wild range of curruption on a more lager scale as witnessed in the present administration. Here is a situation where the commander-in-chief claims he knows the people behind curruption, oil subsidy fraud, B/haram and the evil forces against Nigeria's developments but does nothing about it! All we hear is acusations and counter acusation, setting up committee after committee. Enter Buhari: On one hand is a man of Honour who have fought against curruption all his life. During his regime as Head of state, he was Nigeria's only leader that declared ''war against indiscipline and curruption. Like him or not, he had a vision. He never pointed acusing fingers on currupt officials as we see today, he simply brought them to book. He restored discipline and transparency into the civil service, unlike accusing civil servants of curruption as we all know they are, he used his powers as commander-in_chief to restore order. One popula opinion about the man is that he is anti-democratic, but I tell you, he was never given a fair ground to compete, in that senario, his opponents are actually the real enemies of democracy. Here is the man that surrendere his party(CPC) to form a more viable opposition and an alternative to Nigerians. Someone somewhere is working so hard to twart that effort! Who is now anti-democratic? Bring this man into power, within one month both oil subsidy frauad, curruption, insecurity, and indiscipline will be a long gone menace. If Nigerians can look beyong Tribalism and sentiments, religion and convictions.... We'll all see that Buhari is man to beat! Only a matter of time, he is a man who I wlii like to term ''the 4th time lucky'' if you know what I mean. Talk about humility, he will gladly step down if a better candidate emerge, but untill then, he is the best democracy have to offer. The Ibos Are The Most Tribalised And Complainers In Nigeria! by maximunimpact(m): 11:51am On Aug 04, 2013 Really no love lost, but really Ibos in Nigeria, that occupy mainly the South Eastern part of the country are the most tribalised, complaining and selfish people I have ever seen on the face of the earth, here are the facts and points to buttress my view: 1. From the onset, they had the chance of been a major bloc in Nigerian politics, they have the honor of producing the first president of the country, even the first coup was carried out by the Ibos successfully, they had the power......but because of greed, tribalism, selfishness and kindred evil, they rose from grace to grass, today, they don't count in Nigerian politics. 2. The Ibos cannot survive on their own. There is no place in Nigeria an Igbo man will not build a house, an igbo man will rather betray his own brother for a piece of land elsewhere. There is no unity and focus, no political vision, but yet they will always cry like baby that they want an Igbo presidency. 3. On the isue of Ngige and Igbokwe's stance on Fashola's rehab programme, the reaction of Anambra state govt is typical of an Igbo man, this is a break in communication caused by Peter Obi who received two unreplied memo from Lagos state govt. Eventhough it is very glaring, because the isue have involved a Yoruba man, the Ibos will tribalise it as the Yorubas against the Ibos, nowonder they want to crucify two of their own for being on the side of truth. 4. Curruption is deeply routed in Igbo land, if all the Ibos should go back to their respective states, you will see that the wheat have been separated from the tarse, look at the edifice of one man, a former governor, Uzor kalu, who have amased wealth to the detriment of the masses, MASOB or any organised Ibo group will never see any wrong about it, but they will chose to attack Fashola's rehab programme because he is a Yoruba man. 5. Check all the instruments of coarse in this country, almost all of them is from Ibo land. If PDP or any powerful individual want to cause instability for any political gain, they will use an Igbo man, take for example, the ghost rival APC, african people's congress is headed by an Igbo man. Instead of standing up for their own cause, just like the Hausa's and the Yoruba's, they will end up been the instrument of havoc in the hands of political lords just because of greed, selfishness, and hatred. That is why an igbo man will never be the president of Nigeria ever again! 6. The Ibos are always divided against each other against their own who find grace with other tribes. Ngige is one of the best Governors Anambra have ever seen, but because he is alighned with APC, which only the Ibos see as a Hausa/Yoruba party, they have thrown him away as a betrayal, Obasanjo, who is a former president of Nigerian never played a tribal politics, but yet his people never brandished him as a betrayal, that's maturity on the part of Yorubas, if OBJ were an Igbo man, MASOB or Aka Ikenga must have bannished him from Igbo land! That's how tribalised the Ibos are! Bottomline is, the survive in a country like Nigeria, one need to think beyond tribal lines, its not that there is no tribalism in other ethnic groupings in Nigeria, but it is worst with our south eastern brother! Asaba have suddenly become a hot bed for presidential campaign as there are talks among chieftains of All Progressives Congress (APC) that General Muhammadu Buhari may visit Asaba, after his short working visit to the UK. This came simultaneously with the visit of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to Asaba for a two day working visit while General Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is in the UK for a working visit. As a result of Jonathan’s visit to the palace of the Asagba of Asaba, there have been tension in the camp of the APC for an urgent need to visit Asaba, the state capital as Buhari only visited Warri during his first visit to the state earlier this month. Interestingly, the question, which a lot of promoters of APC in Asaba have not been able to provide answer to is whether the party does not recognise Asaba as the state capital otherwise why did Buhari took his campaign to Warri? Asaba remains the only state capital that Buhari did go to solicit for votes. Is the action an indication that the leadership of APC does not reckon with the town and its citizens? Other questions are would Buhari have retuned to Asaba to see the Asagba if PDP had taken its presidential candidate to the Asagba’s palace? And why was Asaba the only state capital Buhari did not take his campaign to out of all the states he visited. http://impacttym.com/read/?id=100

President Goodluck Jonathan have promised to make laws that will enhance peaceful co-existence in Nigeria if re-elected for a second term. He said this during the solidarity rally organized by the Arewa Innitiative For Peaceful Co-existence In Southern Nigeria held saturday in Delta state. According to the president, he was collaborating with the state governors to make laws that will enable Nigerians live peacefully anywhere in the country without fear of crises or bitterness, but was truncated as a result of the implosion by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) in 2013. During his address to the mammoth crowd, the president said that he has a plan in place that will bring peace in Nigeria if re-elected for a second term, and that is the implementation of the National Conference presided over by about 500 Nigerians from all works of life and professions. He said that his administration is the only government that will fully implement the reports and recommendation of the National Conference, and pleaded with the people to vote for PDP to enable him bring peace in Nigeria. According to the president, “if a Nigerian citizen can go to America to give birth because they wants to have American citizenship, and America accepts us in that case, why should we not live in peace ”. The president described himself as a peaceful man, berating the opposition as “bitter and angry people", he said “an angry and bitter man cannot bring peace or change, you cannot not give what you don’t have”. The rally was attended by some dignitaries and political allies including The Governor of Delta State Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, PDP Gubernatorial candidate of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and a host of other PDP stalwarts from the norther Nigeria. http://impacttym.com/read/?id=97

A former ADC to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Christian Eza has been shot dead and killed by a police corporal on night duty, Bala Ibrahim in Bauchi, capital of Bauchi State. Until his shooting death, Mr. Eza served as commander of the Mobile Police (MOPOL 10) in Bauchi State. According to reports, superintendent Eza was in mufti and going home from work around 11:30 p.m. (Nigerian time) when he ran into a patrol team within the Bauchi metropolis. He reportedly noticed that a member of the patrol team was wearing a MOPOL khaki cargo pant, which is not allowed for those policemen who are directly in the MOPOL. Mr. Eza reportedly stopped his vehicle and demanded that the patrol team, which included Inspector Gowon Shifi and Corporal Nasiru Adamu, attached to the police Directorate of Operations in Bauchi, explain why Bala was wearing MOPOL khaki when he was not a MOPOL member. When Mr. Eza stepped forward to disarm the corporal, the corporal cocked his gun and asked him to step back. Mr. Eza continued to approach him, but the corporal, who refused to surrender his weapon because he said he did not know who the superintendent was, opened fire, hitting the former ADC on the chest from close range. The former security aide to Mr. Uduaghan was later pronounced dead at the teaching hospital in Bauchi. Our sources said officials at the police headquarters in the state have ordered the arrest of all the policemen on the patrol team. One police source disclosed that Mr. Eza had been worried about his deployment to Bauchi, telling a few close confidantes that he feared that Islamist insurgents belonging to Boko Haram may have infiltrated his team. The source told our correspondent that the deceased officer lived in a heavily fortified zone in Bauchi, several miles away from his command, out of fear that he could get killed by some of his lieutenants linked to Boko Haram. The deceased officer hailed from Erowha in Isoko south local government area of Delta State. http://impacttym.com/read/?id=88

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has again reiterated that he had nothing personal against nor wishing any harm done to the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate,Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) and that Obasanjo insisted that Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua must be the president in 2006 because he preferred him. Fayose, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti Thursday , was apparently reacting to the barrage of criticisms that have trailed his opposition for the APC presidential candidate. In a statement in Ado Ekiti ,the governor said his motive was to expose the hypocrisy of some of the leadership of APC,whom according to him are placing personal interests far above national interest. He said the APC had not only packaged lies and tried to foist such on Nigerians, but had compromised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the election if it had held on February 14. “I remember then as the ad hoc chairman of the PDP committee to shop for the presidential candidate to replace former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a crop of suitable, brilliant, healthy and competent northern politicians in the PDP were shortlisted by me for Obasanjo to pick from, but he overruled the list and asked me to contact the late Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua because he preferred him. “In fairness to the late president, he objected to the offer on health ground, but Obasanjo insisted that he must be the president. ” I am not against the North, rather if Obasanjo had picked from the list of names submitted by my committee to him, certainly, a northerner, replacing Obasanjo would have ruled this country till 2015. As an insider who saw everything and who again have noticed the repeat of the episode of 2006, I must talk. “There is nothing bad in allowing President Jonathan from the South to complete the two terms he is allowed constitutionally and in 2019, a real candidate from the North, not one manipulated by the South-West APC, will emerge to take over. These APC leaders operate in deceit, the well being of this country is secondary to them. The is the party that ruled Ekiti for just only four years and grounded the state with huge debts. “That 2006 scenario is again being re-enacted with Obasanjo and APC leaders branding General Buhari to be the president of this country While reinstating that he was not wishing Gen. Buhari dead,Fayose said he was emphatic on his advocacy that General Buhari was too old to govern the complex country Nigeria at 72 “I am not wishing General Buhari dead, but the fact remains that he is too old to govern a complex country like Nigeria and we don’t want a president that will govern by proxy.” Throwing more light on the hypocrisy of the APC, Fayose wondered why Buhari could not appear at APC organised rally in London last Wednesday if indeed he was not on hospital bed. He said the much-talked about Chatham House lecture was a face-saving device to cover the true position of Buhari, adding that most of those attacking him were doing so because he stuck out his neck to expose the lies of the APC. He added that he would not relent. The governor said after he proved to the world that Buhari was interviewed in Abuja and not London, the APC had not been able to prove him wrong. http://impacttym.com/read/?id=79

The long awaited 2015 electioneering campaign is here, political actors and gladiators are having their hands full with beehive of activities which are all targeted at one goal “winning and gaining the support of the electorate”. Is that not all what political campaigns is all about? Politicians all over the world have been very innovative in devising means of wooing the electorate into voting for them, and in the cause of getting there support, they use persuasive words wrapped up in a lot of promises as a reward for voting them into power. One point worthy of note here is that there is no legal means of checkmating and enforcing them into fulfilling these promises when they eventually come into power, and this is the major challenge with “political campaign promises”. The two leading presidential candidates are not newcomers in the game of making verbal promises to the masses. I will like to recall one sterling verbal outburst made by them leading into 2011 presidential election. On the 31st of January 2011, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Goodluck Ebele Jonathan while addressing diplomats at the United Nations Economic Commission For African, UNECA, and the African Union AU, in Addis-Ababa, said he has no ambition to stay in office beyond 2015, he made this promise at that occasion along with lots more bordering on security, education agriculture, and transport. Weather the president has fulfilled all those promises or not is not in my place to pass such judgments, but my point is that no matter how, who and when the promise was made, there is never going to be a 100% fulfilment anywhere in the world. In a similar fashion, another leading presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC said on the 13th of April 2011 while speaking at the grand finale of his presidential campaign in Abuja said “I will not seek any elective office after Saturday’s election” the statement was made three days before the 2011 presidential elections, along with a host of other promises. But that was four years ago, things change you know, and here we are, another election in hand barely less than six weeks away. One cannot dispute the fact that humans are not perfect like God, we all make mistakes at one point in our attempt to get favors from people, the same can equally be applied to the above scenarios. The electorates are conglomeration of different people, with different background, cultures, religion and values, a uniform approach will fail in convincing these various species into voting for one candidate or the other. So understandably, politicians have a lot of work to do in using different tactics and methods in wooing them into gaining there acceptance and support. That has been one of the reasons why politician make a lot of promises leading into an election. The Implication The whole euphoria of electioneering campaign promises is not something the people should base their decisions on, as we can see from the above analysis that non of the leading candidates has the guts to keep to their words in the previous elections. The choice of candidate should not be based on what a politician said, but on one’s personal conviction with regards to conscience. Failed campaign promises by implication will give rise to political apathy, people will lose confidence in the entire process, and this may result to elections not representing the true will of the people. Even in advanced nations like the US, Russia, United Kingdom, France and China, electoral promises have never been trusted by the electorate. Some of the ill-will, disaffection, hatred, criticism and violence in our society can be traced back to politicians’ inability to redeem their pledges, the people uses various methods to express their grievances towards the ruling class, and the entire nation at large. This have thrown this Nation into a war zone over the past couple of years and if this practice is not checked, it can result to greater catastrophe. Politicians need to consider all these facts before altering any promises, putting into cognizance the aftermath of such utterances in the event that they are not able to fulfil it. It will be worthy of note that there is no saint among politicians, when you look at them from a distant, there is one thing they have in common, that is in my own words ‘never trust the promise made by a politician’. The future When we consider all these issues, one question that is begging for answer is what does this practice have in stock for the future? Your guess is as good as mine, considering the fact that the words of a politician has no divine direction, it will be quite clear to us that they are simply super mortals preying on the power of persuasion. For years past till date, Nigeria remains the way it is because the people that has the power to make the change have always relinquished their power to the strong appeal from men who’s taste for power have blinded them into make promises that can never be redeemed. Here is another opportunity, the masses once again have the power, the power to retain or elect a new government. The future cannot be great without pressing the real issues. The real issues now bothers on security, education, power, economy, and the way forward on the fight against corruption. It is unfortunate the current politicians have replaced these issues with propaganda and politics of bitterness and anger and it appears the masses are cheering them on who gives the hardest knock against each one another. It is time to rise up people! The power lies on our tomb, let’s use it to make the much needed decision now. http://impacttym.com/read/?id=1

African Independent Television (AIT) has suddenly removed a popular online poll where the All Progressives Congress party candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was resoundingly beating President Goodluck Jonathan. Buhari’s lead in the poll was despite the president’s shelling out of N5 million per daily showing of his sponsored documentary against Buhari that was being repeatedly shown on AIT stations across Nigeria, and online. Earlier on Tuesday, SaharaReporters published a screenshot of the poll, which at that time showed Buhari well ahead by over 76%. As the day wore on, the poll saw Buhari’s lead rise to 79%. It was then swiftly taken down, AIT replacing the page with a claim that the page was “under maintenance.” That behavior was reminiscent of a similar incident last year by Mr. Jonathan’s social media aide, Reno Omokri, who is Mr. Jonathan’s social media aide. In an effort to provide a rebuttal to a SaharaReporters poll showing Mr. Jonathan being handsomely defeated by General Buhari, Omokri manipulated a poll he had set up, and then hurriedly shut it down with Jonathan ahead of Buhari by 1%. AIT did not say whether its poll page would return after its ‘maintenance’, but some users had noted earlier that the TV station was allowing multiple voting for President Jonathan. That was subsequently corrected, a fact that was also noted by users, following which Buhari again regained the lead. AIT then suddenly went into ‘maintenance’. Interested in Advertising?
