Nairaland General › A Terrible Accident Along Ipaja Ayobo Road. by Maximus85(op): 7:13pm On Sep 27, 2014
I hate posting bad news but I'm doing this so that we can learn.

In the bus, I heard that this boy who just finished his secondary school education went for a wedding in that same area and he was riding his father's Okada, he somehow fell, hit is head on the culvert and I can't say cos I couldn't look in that direction. But from what those who can look were saying, its like the boy is gone. Blood was everywhere.

The father is a security man, the mother sells pepper. What a painful thing!

Why am I posting this? The Lagos State Government under the administration of Gov. Babatunde Raji Fashola went as far as begging us to use our safety helmet. Isn't it for our protection? But we just wouldn't listen. What if this boy was wearing a helmet?

Our society has an attitude that vexes me. These useless bus drivers won't use their seat belt if they don't see police or "Lastman" officials on the road. And the belt majority of them uses is not even hooked on anything. Its just there for the showing. And our road officials won't even check if the belt is working or not.

What if this boy's father has instructed this boy well enough about these riding safety precautions?

Parents please explain the laws to your children. Our safety is in our own hands. The government will only try their best.

My elders will say "You can only take a horse to the river but you can't force it to drink"

To my Yoruba people....If the government has been shouting "omo yi ma pa mi, Omo yi ma pa mi, when they get tired, it will be "omo yi ma pa ara e"

Please let us protect ourselves. We've only got just one life to live.

QuiverBox: I am Catholic for your information.

Why worry over someone's business. If you are so concerned about what he is charging why don't you set up your church and build your University. The members of Living faith are paying the tithe and they are not complaining.

So I still don't understand why you Guys are complaining about.
I said "Maybe"
You catholics case is far different ooooo. You worship Mary. Not even God or Jesus.

QuiverBox: Who will run the generators, who will Pay the Lecutrers, who will maintain the enviroment, who wil pay the Non acedemic Staff, who will pay maintain the library.

I guess Christ will wil come down and finance the running of the Private University.

Since you are Christain / Moslem , wait for God to come down and pay you Bills, if u are a A Freethinker, stay and home and let your toughts pay the Bills, if u are a traditional Worshiper, wait for sango to foot ur bills.

I guess the MB you are using was sent to you from Heaven.

A Private University is like any Instituition accross the world it needs Money to Function.
Maybe this is one of the brainwashed member. We are not saying it should be free. How much is the church receiving at the end of each month in the name of tithes? Most of them won't pay their Taxes but they pay tithe.

asuustrike1: .
what do you want him to do because other christian schools charge similar rate but for him to say an average Nigeria spend N1m on burial is not a yardstick for such an outrageous fee
First lie, An average Nigerian can't afford N1m for a burial. If you say the family consisting of 50people altogether can contribute for the burial. Not a single average Nigerian coming up with such huge money.

There is no excuse for charging such outrageous amount of money in the name of quality when the money used in creating the schools is from the tithe of these same people.

You receive free, give free. If you can't give free, don't make holes in their pockets.

Education › Re: Some English Words With Nigerian Origin. by Maximus85(m): 8:47am On Sep 12, 2014
LeMme blow your minds. The word England has a Yoruba "Orijin" When the white men got to where we now have as England, the Yorubas were the ones occupying that "Land" so the white men saw these women in the bush, they were fetching fire wood. Since there's a difference in language, the white men asked the women what they were doing in the bush. It wasn't easy to pass the message to these Yoruba women. At last, they got the question and replied "Igi La n di" meaning "We are tying up firewood"

So the white men decided to name that land "England" Igi la n di.

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaabuuuuuuu oooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Alexk2: @ Seun, pls define what you mean by derailing according to ur almighty rules....this is becoming neccessary coz itz obvious you are tolerating all those athiests and like minds who wont stop at anything but derail, post insulting comments, abuse posters sensitivity in almost any Christian related topics.
It doesn't concern me if you yourself is an athiest, pls.. all i'm saying is that, if you are applying those ur rules/laws in other sections, you must apply it in religious section too....to tell you the truth, itz in religious section that you need more monitoring and enforcing of those rules.
I've never insulted anybody for been an athiest, a JW, a muslim or a herbalist and i respect individuals choice and hence wont poke my nose into any thread created by any let alone posting/commenting offensively and i do seriously expect same from all other religious mind.

For the JW brothren, you don't need to always force you doctrine on others, pls....no need to argue on nairaland when you know your biblical viewpoints is different from other Christians....creat ur own thread if you are not owk with others'...
Nobody is forcing anything on you. And we will never insult anybody. We don't do it. All our preaching work is done with great respect. We are the most peaceful on earth.
Christianity Etc › Re: Names Of God And Their Meanings by Maximus85(m): 2:45pm On Aug 31, 2014
Jehovah - Sharwama nko? How many names has God said to be his name? He only gave us one name which is JEHOVAH.

I saw the OP displayed her lack of Bible knowlegde when she said Jehovah - Yahweh is also God's name. What is Jehovah, What is Yahweh? One is English and the other is Hebrew.
Exodus 3:15 (your translation) "God said to Moses, Say this to the people, the Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you': this is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations"

Please ooo, I don't know if I don't understand simple English. Where is the NAME God was talking about in the Verse? All I can see is "I am The Lord" Is that a name?

Something is wrong. They said Sawyer brought the virus into Nigeria and that those tested positive to the virus were those that had direct contact with sawyer. If this woman can't be linked to those with primary contact to sawyer, then, there's a mischievous angle to this. Abeg I make sense?
