They believe in going to heaven but when one of them dies they say prayers can't stop it. Maybe what they meant is that their God wanted that person in heaven much more than they do here on earth!😟

If you equate the two, you are effectively saying God is a dictator who strips us of free will to control us like zombies. There is no evidence this is the case.
