Remember faithful Jews had years in mind regarding the end of badness (when the christ comes) and that's includes John the baptist! Matthew 11:1-3
Jesus' disciples had years in mind too but they never mentioned a specific date regarding their misconceptions. 1Corinthians 13:9

Jehovah's Witnesses also had the same thing in mind eagerly anticipating the end of this system of things just as faithful servants of God always do.

What unbelieving Jews expected of Christians in the first century was PERFECTION in all they were doing otherwise no single individual will remain an unbeliever among first century Jews if Christianity was perfect inside out!
